Like a sister

Jake stopped by the Today show Tuesday morning to talk with Savannah Guthrie about Constellations and Nightcrawler along with his Golden Globe nomination.

Savannah had gone to see Constellations and was talking about the unconventional love story.

And so was Lainey in her column.

Who wondered if it was real dating or method dating.

Sounds like she got her answer:
Constellations began previews on December 16 and I heard from an acting student, “A”, who went to see the show twice before Christmas. Though they’re still working through some details in the direction and while at times it got kinda messy, I’m told the chemistry between Ruth and Jake is, indeed, special and Ruth’s performance, in particular, is extraordinary.

By the way, at the end of both shows, when the actors come out to applause, Jake apparently had his hand on the back of Ruth’s neck the entire time.

For what it’s worth though, the acting student was able to meet both later on outside the theatre for photos and advice. Here’s how she describes the vibe between them:
“On stage, definite love. Off stage? They definitely throw off a sibling vibe.”
 Who da' thunk? ; )

Lost in Twit-lation

People tweeted out a picture of Jake with this tweet:

 People magazine (@peoplemag)
12/29/14, 05:30

Hello Jake Gyllenhaal and Jake Gyllenhaal's facial hair http://peoplem.ag/r6mCg5q

Then mysteriously the caption was this when you went to the People site:

OFF BROADWAY

Away from the Broadway stage, Jake Gyllenhaal keeps close to Constellations costar Ruth Wilson on a Saturday walk through N.Y.C.

So did the tweeter from People get a whisker too close to the truth in it's awkwardness?

Out Spotlight

Today's Out Spotlight was a drag performer, singer and activist. He was the first openly gay man in the world to run for public office.  Today's Out Spotlight is José Sarria.

José Sarria, who was of Latin-American descent, was born in San Francisco December 12, 1923. He was raised by his mother and grandmother, who allowed him to dress in women’s clothes.

During World War II, Sarria enlisted in the army. His fellow soldiers discriminated against him because he was gay. Sarria became friends with some by giving them tours of San Francisco.

Sarria began performing at “The Black Cat,” a San Francisco gay club. His shows, which included warning guests of police extortion and raids on gay bars, were a hit. Although the messages were often serious, Sarria presented them humorously and with a gay twist. He became famous for his closing song, “God Save Us Nelly Queens.”

In 1961, Sarria became the first openly gay candidate for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He lost, but received 5,600 votes, demonstrating that a gay voting bloc could wield political power. The possibility of empowerment laid the groundwork for the election of Harvey Milk.

In the 1960s, San Francisco gay bars were being shut down. The Tavern Guild of San Francisco organized a drag ball to protest. Sarria was crowned Queen of the Ball.

Sarria cofounded the Imperial Court System, an international organization that raises money for people living with HIV/AIDS and other causes. In 2006, a street in San Francisco was named in his honor.  Sarria passed away August 19, 2013.

“Why be ashamed of who you are?"

Star signings

Jake's name in lights isn't the only thing that can be seen outside the Manhattan Theater Club.

Jake is making the rounds after each show, stepping out the stage door and meeting fans and signing autographs.

Backpack optional. ; )

No grenades

Horseshoes are big in Texas,  and apparently on Austin's upper lip.  A recent twitter pic of Austin has him sporting a new 'stache.

Not long enough for a Fu Manchu it looks more like it could be the beginning of a  horseshoe, a pornstar gone a little to far.

"Almost only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades," does that apply to moustaches too?

Paired up

Prezzies Three:

What's better than a gift that is shared.

So here's some that a better together than for those apart.

Some chickadees

to go with the golden  Mr. (wild) turkeys  around the table.

Who doesn't love pancakes?   Austin can have a taste or turkey (bourbon) while Jake gets more syrup for all pancakes he loves.  Bring on the carbs!

Some Grade A Vermont maple will be good for the rest of the crew around the table.

And with some fun there is always games.

And for Jake to sneak in some healthy exercise with anyone catching on.  There's the yoga spinner. (bring your own mat)

But who doesn't love an old fashion playground ball to have fun with, and make a statement too.  (Little steps?)

Of course left on their own the pair might find themselves in an intense game of backgammon.
Where these might come in handy.
They're sustainable - you know since you go so green
