.... or is it Lovey Boy?
Named after the hero of To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch was adopted from L.A. animal shelter New Leash on Life by Jake Gyllenhaal and then-girlfriend Kirsten Dunst. But Atticus wasn't the first name he had. Nope. Kirsten had named him Lovey because she and Jake were in love. And Atti was called Lovey for a brief bit, before Jake's choice Atticus Finch came out on top and this loyal companion was Atticus for good. Lovey? Seriously? That's a name for a grandma who plays canasta and drinks gin & tonics with the girls, not a studly shepard living with America's sexiest bachelor.
But what a dog's life. Adopted from an animal shelter, this German Shepard mix, has spa days, hangs at the hippest cafes, walks on the beach with magical shoes, is totally bicoastal and shares a bed with the AfterElton's Hottest celebrity again this year. And his ears, they give him that quirkly loveliness that goes so well with his hot Daddy. 
He is true blue and has unconditional love for his Daddy, even when public opinion is not so enamored of him. Many stars have pets for that reason, pets are loyal companions who just love you back, there are no conditions or no expectations, they want nothing more than companionship love and attention, and give all that back in spades.
Atti has proven to be a good pup, who is well trained and well behaved. No car chasing, taking off when not on a leash, for this boy, and not phased in the least by the cameras or paparazzi. Sure there have been a few hookups and that unfortunate Defamer story of him humping another dog without even a proper introduction, but he probably thought the butt sniff hello was enough, but sure boy that fella was surprised when Mr. Finch got down to business.
Lately Atticus has been a good sport about the company Jake has been keeping, he just too cool for it all, and doesn't get involved in the whole thing. Sure he not thrilled being led around and paraded for publicity, but he knows that is just a part of the deal of being a celebupet. What he also knows what the real deal is. Wow, talk about Wag the Dog!

Awwwww - great post. Atti's a beauty isn't he? Love that first pic. Somehow, I don't see him named Lovey either. That could be one of his ten nicknames and petnames, like my animals have, but not his official name. :)
E! Online is generally very accurate. If they say Jeese was at TomKat's housewarming party, I think they probably were. Along with everyone else in Hollywood.

I'm a bit suspicious of the E! story too. The whole hand-holding thing just seems so out of place when you read the post, nobody else is described that way. It really does read like pr talking-points to me, as oppposed to something that was witnessed.

E described what Kimora Simmons and Eva Longoria were wearing only, so not only did they not describe what Reese was wearing but, the hostess, Katie (The pic is from the Gala in NY not the housewarming party), O. Winfrey, and K. Alley.
As much as I would hope they wouldn't show up at crazy Tommys house, Eonline is pretty accurate. Some of those names in that list don't appear elsewhere either like Ben Stiller and Prince. Methinks that with so many arriving that more than one source was reporting the comings and goings.
The hand holding thing was not necessary, but IMO they probably added that per request or they saw all the pics of them holding hands and decided to add it. No reason why they would make it up, if so they made up Stiller, Gooding, Fanning, Prince, and Diddy as well, all listed on E but no where else.
IMO, they were there but they embellished to make them sound "cute".
PS: The Chicago Tribune and In Touch are reporting that they were there but it's probably from the original source, E.

there are pics of katie, oprah and kirstie arriving. methinks pics or at the least descrips of clothes or hair make the list valid but with reeke there is neither.
If it was required that they described what she wore, then they failed to mention what Winfrey, Alley and Katie were wearing as well. It sounds like Eva and Kimora stood out and the rest were maybe dressed rather dull.
It also should be metioned that E's sources missed out on J-Lo and Posh as well.
This is the second time That Stiller has been mentioned with them, the first time was at RDJ's party, I wonder if they are friends?
Other news outlets are picking up the E list since they originally posted it like the Chicago Tribune and Washington Post.
True suspicious, but originally E didn't described what they wore and also to point out again there are others on that list that don't appear on the other lists and there are no photos of them either.

I use "required" in an ironic sense, because in our shallow and superficial world, that is what is considered important, and HW usually gives us what we want. What were they wearing? Did you see her hairstyle? HW can sometimes surprise us tho.
For me, it's a case of TLI (too little info), but maybe they did go, who knows who went without pics? It's a little like a throw-away line to me, what possibly is done to keep names in the media. I don't care really, if they went or not. :)
I don't think E! is making it up, I think they were given a list of attendees, and I'm betting different sources were given different lists so they wouldn't all quote just the same few names. And I guess it just strikes me as odd that after two weekends in which we got like what, five or six different sets of photos, that we didn't get pictures of them arriving at the party? Was Splash fully booked for the night? But is it also possible they were there--yes.
By the way, love that last picture you added Special, they are just so adorable.
For what it is worth, even babblers are horrified that they may have gone to the tomkat party. Given the size of the event, it may have been perceived as a "business" obligation rather than a social event if they were really there.

Happy to see Jake made the top of the after elton list. Gay men were identified with an asterick, at least on ONTD, but I think it should have been labeled out men as some of the men without the asterick are definitely gay but not out, like Jake, Wentworth, Anderson Cooper.

At most events a press release is issued prior to the event with the names of those invited, to give the press some lead time to get the background on the story and they can make their deadlines.

I think it's disgraceful that a closeted bearder like Jake won that After Elton poll. Read on WFT2 that some on WDW were proud that they had pretended to be gay men so they could vote in the poll. The poll was supposed to be for gay/bi men only. Sure enough, there were comments from fangurls who voted. I think the fangurls put Jake over the top on this one. I really don't think gay men are into him anymore.

Regarding the house warming party.
Remember folks Reese needs a new job! No nice roles lined up at the moment for Reese. Showing up was probably a request from CAA but it was also a good business decission (for most everyone at the get together.) Like it or not Tom controls UA and that is a source of work for these folks.
As much as most of the public might like to see Tom crash and burn I don't think Hollywood would let it happen. They don't mind that he has been cut down a bit but they don't want him completely destroyed. If all else Hollywood protects its own.
Looks like the leads for Milch's new series "The Last of the Ninth" have been cast. Hope that means that we'll be hearing about other casting for the series soon.
Love John Barrowman's comment, and love (in a different way) how Sophia's innocent interview was twisted into a two-year liaison with our Austy ... flipping heck.

I don't think Reeke were there. Claudia Rosenbaum from Eonline did someone a favour, called Reese an A-lister (yeah, right) and promoted Reeke. Others used Eonline as the source and vola, nice and simple PR.
I doubt that Austin was behind the OK bearding story. I think Jake's PR or Disney is trying to make that multi-year period in Jake's life when there were no women, repeat no women, disappear. It messes up their little fairytale. They aren't fooling anyone.

Senator Kennedy is recovering after successful brain surgery at Duke University Medical Center. After radiation treatments to shrink what remains of the tumor, he hopes to be back at work and on the campaign trail this Fall. Best wishes and Yeah Senator Kennedy! :)

Ted is confirming once again, that Jake, like Lance, is bearding. Plain and simple.
I also think that Ted is not pushing the TT story very much these days because he, like so many others I suspect, feel sorry for Jake, and understand that he's trying desperately to get his life, career and head in order.
Ted suggested that Jake had a mini-meltdown last October, and that Reese stepped in to help. Given how screwed up, socially irresponsible and mendacious Jake has been since this charade began, I'm not surprised that Ted feels a little sorry for JG now.
Besides, Ted's married, and he went through his hetero-fauxmance business himself once.
He probably sympathizes with Jake's plight, knows that Jake's career is in the doldrums and needs major help, knows that the Jake is emotionally fragile right now (remember he said that Jake would either have a breakthrough or a breakdown?), knows that Jake is suffering more than anyone else because of the bearding, and hopes that Jake works everything out.
I feel pity from Ted, not resignation.
I haven't much to add except I agree that as long as Reeke attended the TomKat party on paper, the work is done; we know how it is at this point. That said, I'm actually finding it difficult to imagine them there, even though this event was something of a who's who. Maybe because it would have been an official Hollywood debut of them as a couple and we've yet to see that. Unless pictures are forthcoming, I suspect we'll keep on waiting.
The mention of Austin in the Sophia article was bizarre and, quite frankly, depressing. It scares me to think of how vastly inter-connected it all appears to be and that in the time of Reeke, old gaps might be sought out and filled. I hate seeing Austin as simply a pawn in written form like that.
On a much brighter note, I loved that Atticus had a whole post devoted to him! Thank you for that, special! He is such a beautiful boy and no doubt a cherished constant in Jake's life. Not unlike Austin. What I would've given to see one picture of the three of them together.

I am very disappointed that Austin did not get named in Milch's new series. Maybe he is just not pursuing an acting career anymore. Turned off by the games that must be played, perhaps.
The other thing about Ted's column tonight is that I think it is reminiscent of the the item he ran eons ago comparing J&A to McBongo/Penelope and Lance/Sheryl.
I think it is too soon to know about the Milch series; it was never very likely that he would cast Austin as the lead character in this series, and he doesn't seem right for the role of someone coming back from Nam, etc. (after all, some people think of this as being about the early years of the Sipowtiz charatcter....
Austin is too pretty to play young Sipowtiz!! The series storyline will be "What happened?" lol

I think one of the "insiders" said that Reese stepped in to help Jake. It wasn't Ted.
Until I see pictures, I seriously doubt Reeke attended TomKat's party. They (TC) would definately pimp all A-listers but only the usual crowd + Ophra has been pictured.
Love this post and the pool pic is too cute :) I'll also always love the beach photos (magic shoes and car pictures) because there are traces of the other guy whose been cut out in both sets. In the car pics the dogs are clearly watching & walking towards someone they know.
