It's been a while...

It's that time of year again ... Austin City Limits

ACL is spread out over two weekends -  last weekend and this weekend with a line up that covers everything from Vampire Weekend, Depeche Mode, Questlove and Arctic Monkeys to Lionel Richie, Blind Boys of Alabama and Queens of the Stone Age.  And it wouldn't be ACL with Asleep at the Wheel.

Check out the whole line up  here.

So when this twitpic of the handsome Tall Texan at a show popped up today - it looked like he going home to raise ACL.
Source

He was definitely rocking it out and looking fine.  And he makes totally makes curl up and die take on a whole new meaning.

That picture is of Austin... in Austin ... but it's not Austin City Limits.

While the multiple stages at Zinkler Park the site of ACL run on the two weekends, it doesn't stop Austin (the city) from having some late night fun. There are some late night shows during the week between the two weekends.

For an example here's the line up of the late night shows last night:

Thursday, October 10

Patty Griffin
@Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater

Phosphorescent
with JD McPherson and Shakey Graves
@Emo’s Austin

Wavves
with King Tuff and Jacuzzi Boys
@Antone’s

Mord Fustang
with Jesse Rose
@Haven

Whiskey Shivers
with Hello Wheels
@Stubb’s Indoors

The Autumn Defense and Desert Noises
with Blue Bear
@Lamberts

So it kind of looked like Austin might have been at one of those show.

But the question isn't just where was the curly hair cutie with the VIP sticker in this picture but when?

Well... when you look closer at the VIP sticker you'll see a familiar color -
Maroon.  As in Maroon 5.

Are they playing ACL?  Nope.

But Austin did see them in Austin didn't he - back in Sept.

 Excited to watch my bros Maroon 5 rip it tonight in Austin, TX. - Sept 18

 My bros are shredding!! - Sept 18

And does the background and lighting look same as the new twitpic?  Yup

What a crazy coincidence huh? ; )

Happy Austin Sneaky Friday!

Rites of Spring

April showers might bring May flowers but first it brings Coachella

And music fests brings out the Austin*

Do you think Austin's got time from his secret "but I will hint at it" project for another "see who I see on stage" from Coachella this year?

Weekending or beginning

To sum up Austin x AUS10

1 Man,  3 Days, 7 stages, over a hundred bands and getting recognized by fans - this is what you get

Austin shows you can go home again - and - have a good time.

Just have to wonder what he did Sunday - did he stay for Red Hot Chili Pepper and Iggy and the Stooges and just not tweet it or did his  weekend start too.

Who says the weekend can't start on Sunday?

Speaking of the weekender - think he's firm on where he stand  inside the voting booth,  and why.

Austin x AUS10

Instead of SXSW - it's Austin X Aus10 and he is giving a photolog of the weekend.

He started off with The Whigs

Rufus

and  Oberhofer

and The Roots

 Sonambulo

and Bassnectar

and headliners Goyte

Neil Young

And Jack White.

 Just turn on your local alternative or college radio station and it's like you there.

No close up photos or  VIP section today,  this was party with the people in Zilker  Park.  But that's not to say he didn't have a star moment courtesy of former co-star Shantelle.

OMG!! OMG!! I found this guy from #OTH @AUS10NICHOLS ... Seriously he's my fav! Obsessed! #ACL ;) XO

Who says you can't go home again.  The forecast is for it to be in 85F in Austin tomorrow. It's still time for you to back to you shirtless ways Mr. Nichols.

Austin's (in the) City Limits

Austin is back to his hometown to catch the three day musical festival Austin City Limits and he's seeing some bands that have been at other festivals he's been to before,  so it is encore to him for some bands  and others it might be his first chance to check them out.

Now Austin will you be giving an encore to the last time you were there?

Wanna catch some shows? You can watch ACL streaming live.

Limitless Possibilities

A little different Austin Friday, we are talking Austin City Limits on this Austin Friday. We know that Austin loves music, and has gone in to ACL in the past. Do you need some reminders? Ok if we must we must.

Austin is known as the live music capital in the world. Those outside of Texas, and the U.S. take it up with the Texans about that title. ACL is one of premiere music festivals in the US, along with Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Coachella.

ACL brings together more than 130 bands on eight stages, including rock, country, folk, indie, Americana, hip-hop, reggae, and bluegrass for the three day show. Some of this year's line up includes: Kings of Leon,Sonic Youth, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Thievery Corporation, Ben Harper and Relentless 7, The Levon Helm Band, The Decemberists, B-52's, John Legend, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Grizzly Bear, Clutch, Arctic Monkeys to name a few.

But ACL doesn't really begin until Asleep at the Wheel plays Miles and Miles of Texas, and then ACL has "official" started.

It can be hot, hot, hot the last two weeks of September in Austin. Hot enough to make an Austinite lose their shirt Ahem. But this year is not the case, with ACL moving to the first weekend in October for beat the chance for wicked hot. Tt looks like it will be in the high 70's and may break 80, but scattered showers are predicted for Saturday and Sunday. Sure that Austin could find still find some reason to lose his, if he was there.

Austin loves his hometown, you can tell from interviews andis never shy to talk about Austin (the city). There is no more perfect match than Austin from Austin. Warm, friendly, welcoming, a little bit funky, a little bit arty, and doing their own thing.

Bone to Pick

The Bone

All this talk about fighting it's ridiculous. Come on. Look at me I'm laid back, easy going, rolling with it. I know how to work Hollywood, it's not New York.

Who's gonna pick a fight with Frank Sinatra? I mean who messes with a bulldog name after a guy who says "I've got chunks of guys like you in my stool." No disrespect he's old he's 12 - that's 84 to you guys. Who fights with guys as old as Ed McMahon And he's Ryan's dog. He wanted a bulldog name Frank Sinatra. Ryan's cool, Frank's cool. Everyone's cool

Now Coco Chanel - the French bulldog - wearing pearls? Who does she think she is, and pearls for walks? Who does that?

And damn where's Chi Chi? Cause I haven't seen that Chihuahua around at all.

....Wag the dog

The Pick

Has to be Austin City Limits. It brings rock, indie, blues, world/ethnic contemporary and traditional, reggae, eclectic, fusion, electronic, soul, folk/Americana and almost all other music fans for three days, three stages and over a hundred bands. With Dallas, San Antonio and Houston are each within a 3 hour drive of Austin and having no similar events Austin is the place to be. And where else than the "world capital of live music".

Last's year ACL was all kinds of hot. With temps way above the average 88F for late September for Austin, an ignited propane tank that caused an explosion, and of course a shirtless Austin Nichols sighting with ring around his neck and shorts so low they can only be described as limbo (As is in how low do they go?) Do you really need to see that picture again today?

Don't know if this years can compete with that but if you want to check it out, go here for the live webcasts, sounds, pics and blogs from this year's ACL.
