Was it a play of words about Jake's birthday gift? Did the "gift of discovery" have two meanings?
Could the adventure been set up as a gift for one of those big milestone birthdays? Something that would break the Bank(sy) ? Something you couldn't find in the Discovery Store? Maybe after watching the show and saying "how cool would that be" ? Or maybe something on version of a bucket list?
Could the Antarctica trip of swimming with the walruses been what it was supposed to be but got change into Icelandic arctic because of scheduling and clearances?

While Austin was performing in Santa Monica, Jake at the U2 show in Anaheim on Saturday night. (Both in LA at the same time again for yet another weekend) No cowl but his handy dandy hat and instead of a cape his cloak of invisibility (his black jacket) tied round his waist.
He might not have wanted his cloak of invisibility but bet he was wishing for some superpowers before he stepped on that helicopter with Bear.

Jake and Bear will be kicking of the season of Man vs. Wild July 11th at 9:00pm on the Discovery Channel.
Looks like Jake's trekking around with Bear Grylls in Iceland.
With most of the population living in only 7% of the island, there's lots of wilderness for Bear to go wild and plenty of places to for them to get in touch with their inner Viking.
Not so sure if Jake will be in touch with eating some of the Norse delicacies but the guys may end up be smoking puffins out in the wild.
There's more to Iceland besides Vikings, Bjork and The Sugarcubes. There's Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest ice cap along with the fjords, glaciers, iceberg-filled lagoons, geysers, waterfalls, and chasms. And doesn't remember Eyjafjallajökull, it's just one of 130 volcanoes scattered over Iceland. There is much for Jake to hike and explore. No doubt after it's over Jake will be looking for a warm geothermal pool to soak in and try some Brennivín, Icelandic liquor, known in English as the black death.
While Jake is going wild, Austin is have a little rebel yell of his own.

Austin will no doubt Tivo it, like he doesn't already have a season pass for the show, but will he tweet about it? Could he get the chance to see it live as it happens? You never know.
But you know from the looks of it he could be ready for anything too.
