Grooming for an End

So the big news is OTH was renewed for another season.

This is the description of Season 8:

"The new season finds Brooke Davis happier than ever. Recently engaged to Julian, her wedding will be the captivating affair one might expect from a young, beautiful, successful fashion designer. As Nathan Scott prepares for his second season in the NBA, the Scott family is expecting their second child and Haley feels as though the baby will be a girl. How will she balance her pregnancy while raising Jamie and pursuing her music career? Also, Quinn and Clay's lives hang in the balance, the victims of a brutal attack which affects all of their friends and family. Season eight of ONE TREE HILL will explore the delicate balance that contemporary twenty-somethings face as they endeavor to build and define what their lives will be, while overcoming difficulties and embracing the good things that they sometimes take for granted, shrouded in the pursuit of someday. It will be a celebration of the most important things, among them the quest for love, laughter, health, friends, career and family: timeless pursuits that have always mattered, and matter now, in a place called Tree Hill."

Does this mean there will it be 13 or 22 episodes of Brooke being a Bridezilla and Julian running for cover and learning non-compliance is futile. He can not have a powered blue tux with a ruffled shirt.

But there has to be more than that for dear Julian. He has to have something do to for 13 or 22 weeks.

So here's The Top Ten List Ideas for Julian for Season 8

10. Having to promote Seven Dreams til Tuesday starts on a worldwide media blitz. And shameless putting real talk show hosts in the show. Gossip begins to spin about Alex comforting him after a disastrous night on Letterman.

9. Seeing opportunity in this engagement pitches a show to co-produce with Ryan Seacrest called Brooke Davis'(TM) Bride's Way, a chronicle in the life a fashion success getting ready for marriage. Of course him as producer leads to all kinds of up and downs as a bride and groom.

8. Lives a lifelong dream of stand up comedy and starts out doing a improv routine with Jamie.

7. Victoria decides that she has to do some baking herself and starts to pursue Julian who has to dissuade her advances and comedy ensues.

6. Julian becomes a Bridezilla himself, and takes over the whole wedding. "I want a film theme wedding, every table named after a classic romantic movie" Start calling Brooke Isla for the duration of the show.

5. Devotes himself to tracking down Katie who has fled after shooting Quinn and Clay. Vows he won't stop until he finds her. Stand off like The Fugitive as he tries to talk Katie in giving up but has to jump after her as she jumps into the waterfall.

4. Realizes he's a trophy wife. Spends the entire season shirtless and by the pool working a good base tan and drinking sangria at Haley and Nathan's. Shows up when summons at Bride Central.

3. Gets hit in the head by a wayward boom on set and believes he is now famed filmmaker Federico Fellini. Caught trying to film the pivot fountain scene of La Dolce Vita in Tree Hill Square.

2. Realizes there is worldwide environmental catastrophe going to happen, and his alter ego J.D. reveals itself and he sends out an Action Team alert out and long lost Sam shows up at his door in Tree Hill.Uhhh not the Sam I was looking for.

and the number 1 thing Julian does for Season 8

1. Downloads old JFC scripts and starts doing some quality stuff instead of the week's script.

What's your ideas for Julian.

PoP Eye Spy

Today it's time for some Eye Spy and stretching those attention to fine details and critical thinking skills you have.

Jake was out and about yesterday.
(Check out the whole set of pictures over on IHJ.)

First pics of the set.

Hood up really not wanting be noticed.

And why does this alley way look like the back of the medical building we've seen him at before?
And why does he look he's walking into that same parking garage again?

Then he's holding a two hangers one with a shirt and and another with a pair of pants. Where did they come from? And where did that Audi Minivan/SUV come from? Is it his? Because it looks like he's standing there like it's one of his cars not his or is it hers? And is she a friend he's helping or is that someone from his team?
Now why would there be luggage carts in the background? Those aren't at grocery stores, or dry cleaners or Starbucks? Does he have to do more press at hotel suite?

Even if it was dropping off a little bit to the dry cleaner, wouldn't an assistant be doing that stuff? Or is he heading to drop stuff off where the luggage carts live? Is she carrying his shoes and other stuff if he is doing press? And where does she go? It was like poof!

Now where did the shirt and pants go?
And then no hood, no problem being noticed now, why now and not earlier?

TONIGHT : Jake will be on MTV at 10:00pm EST.

As part of the promotion for PoP , interviews and sneak peeks at the movie will be part of the show "Dudesons in America" and "Ultimate Parkour". It looks like the will interspersed throughout the show before the commercial breaks.

Busy Signal?

Glancing over Ted last night saw something in a completely different post he did totally unrelated to Jake, PoP, Austin, Reeke, Sophin, Toothy or Goose. He was talking about the show Cougar Town. And something caught my eye:

We caught Busy Philipps
—the deliciously ditzy Laurie on the hit show—as she tried to sneak into Grauman's Chinese Theatre unnoticed for the Prince of Persia premiere last night.

Seems odd if you are on a hit show that were were trying to sneak in. Missed the red carpet on purpose? Running late?

There was something about it. Something something something.

Now if you don't know Busy is Mathilda godmother and great friend of Michelle's who was there for them both after losing Heath. So she and Jake are godparents, there's that link.

And just a few days ago Busy was in a mention in about Austin at the LA Farmer's market with Jana and Sophia. They weren't there together with Busy but just another funky link.

Feeling nothing is coincidence it was a like a karmic pointer about who else could have been sneaking into catch Jake. Now don't think it was there Monday before the premiere or that night because it was, but it came to mind again last night so strong.

And then an email this morning was this question? Did you see this in Gawker?

friend in LA texted me outside the Prince of Persia premiere @ Grauman's Chinese as the stars were exiting. she saw J. Gyllenhaal w/ Austin Nichols, Tom Cruise w/ an unidentified man (yes, a man!), Billy Bob Thornton, Nic Cage, Ben Kingsley, Bruckheimer, Alanis, Gemma Arterton, and Alfred Molina

Must say there were was much happy happy joy joy in emails back and forth.

So to that wonderful person who has earned so many gold stars over the years. You have earned not only a jewel in your crown, but the whole damn crown, and wheelbarrow full of jewels.
Thank you Thank you Thank you.

.....All things connect.

Crazy Nakey Jakey and Tentpole Nights

There are someone good ways when the Crazy Tree meets PoP (let's just call it training and maintaining you know the flexibility, the cardio, acrobatics, and sword pl...oh stop!) and then there's this:

And this totally not that but it could be what would happen if OTH got their hands on the PoP franchise. This is a crazy so good you have to watch.

The son of Dastan and Tamina comes from the future (or is that the past) to talk to his parents and the rest of the cast and crew of the movie.

Now this is meeting a totally
different crazy all together.

Staying on track of the good kind of Crazy Tree meets PoP and it's all about the nakey, the Nakey Jakey that is.Whaaaa?

Jake said that he was proud of that body he created for PoP and told OK! Magazine.

"I got into shape by doing acrobatics. I also did a lot of horse riding and when it was time to the shoot there were daily workouts and I'd run back from the set to the hotel when we were in Morocco."

And if you think you see of lot of Jake PoPping out now, just wait.

"If you think I'm naked in this movie, you should [see] the movie I did with Ed Zwick, Love And Other Drugs. You'll just have to come back for that one."

God Bless R rated movies and (ones about)little blue pills.

Speaking of tentpoles.

Last night Jake commanded the red carpet with aplomb. Moving from the fans, the press, and major movie stars it was all effortless for Jake.

Instantly putting everyone at ease his down to earth, fun loving, good guy ways shone, he charmed everyone he met.

While the magic of the moment was not lost on him one the big night, it wasn't going to his head either. Don't think any movie no matter how big of a production or big of a box office success could do that to such a grounded guy.

Seeing Jake last night can see how what a man he's grown to be. And not just physically. There is a different sense and aura around him. A confidence and centered-ness, a self assurance. He enjoys the energy of the crowd and the moment, but he show that feeling of needing that energy like he did in the past. That need and that search for that is no longer there. That that need has been filled and it is something that has changed since the last time we saw him do the premiere of one of his movies.

Double Feature

Not only it is the premiere of PoP today but it's also the night that Julian Baker's Seven Dreams til Tuesday is premieres in the land of the Crazy Tree. Talk about the synchronicity! (And no not The Police album)

And it's not only the premiere of Julian's film but the season (or series) finale of OTH.

Tonight on the Crazy Tree from the land of The Osmonds and Jello. The Real Housewife of Tree Hill tries to overcome her depression by joining hubby Nathan and Jamie and the rest of the Tree Hill gang on a trip to Utah for the premiere of Julian’s film and forces her son to wear one ugly ass hat. Skills convinces Mouth to defy PeTA and go full on fur. And there's snow. Crazy Katie "I look like your dead wife Sarah" is not down for the count. And it's cold. And there snow. And Brulian plus 1 in a hot tub? Call Joel over The Soup for that one. Check out the premiere of Austin' big gold ring as well. And oh yeah there are two endings to this one. One if the show gets renewed and the other, to cut the Tree down for good.

Now do you think Austin is watching OTH? Think he has other things on his agenda.

Where do you think you're going?
To see my mister!

Tonight is the US Hollywood Premiere of PoP, at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Hollywood and it will be big time old school Hollywood premiere from the location to all the stars coming out to celebrate. Also part of the event is the great Bruckheimerpalooza (A tribute (and fundraiser for AFI) to Bruck, king of the box office with over $15 billion in receipts, will be showing at theaters around Grauman's each hosted with one of the stars of the movie. “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” will be across the street at the El Capitan Theatre, with Orlando Bloom. And over at the neighboring Mann Chinese 6 to screen “Armageddon,” “National Treasure,” “Top Gun” and “Beverly Hills Cop,” bringing in stars such as Bruce Willis, Nicolas Cage and Eddie Murphy, among others respectively.)

The premiere is at 6:00 PM Pacific Time, so for all you Eastcoasters that's 9:00pm for you. Completely confident converting the time to EDT, I'm leaving the higher math conversions for you time travelers around the world. Don't want to be blamed if you miss another of Jake's suits because my math is wrong. So you want to know what time the premiere is for you check out The World Time Clock

Why all of this fuss. Well because you can catch it all LIVE ONLINE

This is the biggest movie of Jake's career so far, and can imagine all that is wrapped up in today for him. It is one big big night. Something to share and celebrate. The last big summer blockbuster Jake premiered (TDAT) someone tall (and co-star) kept a watchful eye over him just outside of the camera lens during the event that day. Seems like it was such a short time ago, but so much has happened. So much to celebrate that night, and even more so tonight. So much more than just a movie. Whether seen or not, he will be watching over, a presence for his prince.

Think Jake will be doing a totally difference dance after this premiere. And wouldn't get kicked out of bed for getting sand in it ; )

Out Spotlight

Today's Out Spotlight is doctor, psychologist, sex researcher and writer Charlotte Wolfe

Charlotte Wolff was born on September 30, 1897 in the small West Prussian town of Riesenburg. Her father was a Jewish merchant. Wolff attended exclusive undergraduate schools before earning a scholarship to study philosophy and medicine at the University of Freiburg in 1918. She completed her medical doctorate at the University of Berlin in 1928, and completing her residency in Berlin's Rudolf Virchow Hospital (now Charite) she became deputy director of the clinic for family planning and pregnancy prevention. at the hospital.

Wolff was openly attracted to other women and frequently choose to wear men's clothing, explaining that they were much more practical and comfortable for her to practice medicine. Berlin at the time (1920s and early 1930's) was a center of gay and lesbian culture, and many nightclubs, salons, and cafes allowed German gays and lesbians to be out publicly and socialize. While Wolff didn't hide her relationships with women, she wasn't in the social scene and seldom went to lesbian nightclubs. Rather she was devoted to her work, helping poor women gain access to family planning.

In January 1933 Adolf Hitler was named Chancellor of Germany and soon afterward, Wolff was arrested for espionage and for wearing men's clothes. She was released when a prison guard, the husband of one of her patients, spoke up for her, but she received continued harassment from Gestapo. She also had to resign her directorship of the family planning clinic because she was Jewish. Recognizing that as a Jew, a strong woman, and a lesbian, her future in Germany was bleak, she fled to Paris. That was in May 1933.

Unable to practice medicine in France, Wolff fell back on one of her more unique medical specialties, chirology, the study of the hand. She developed her own theories of physical and psychological diagnosis using observation of the features of the hand.
In Paris she met writers Thomas Mann and Aldous Huxley. Their work inspired her to study scientifically the methods of hand interpretation and gestures.

In 1936, Wolff fled Paris for London, at the instance of Huxley and his wife Maria.
As she had in Paris, Wolff earned her living by reading hands in London. She read the hands and collected palm prints of such celebrities as Virginia Woolf, Marcel Duchamp, T. S. Eliot, George Bernard Shaw, and her friends the Huxleys.

Huxley had introduced her to the Surrealist clique in Paris and later in London, he introduced her to the London literary set and promised he would write the preface for her first book. He had written to his publishers on behalf of her and suggested the idea of a book of handprints of well-known people with short interpretations of their hands. 'Studies in Handreading' was then published in 1936.

The book itself gives only a brief explanation of chirological methodology and is more noteworthy for the collection of famous handprints that it contains, including the prints of Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Man Ray, Ravel, TS Eliot, Virginia Woolf, George Bernard Shaw, and Aldous Huxley himself. She presented the prints of a comparative study of the hands of 'materialists' and 'spiritualists', to demonstrate how different orientations in life produce radically different chirological features.

Up to this point, her work was much more psychoanalytical than psychological. She had been undergoing Jungian analysis in Germany and Paris, though later became more impressed by the writings of Freud and the neo-Freudians, and her first book shows rather more psychoanalytical and palmistic influences than her later works. Her more serious research into the psychological significance of the hand began in Paris through the permission and influence of the eminent French psychiatrist Professor Henri Wallon, who enabled her to research in the hospitals and clinics of Paris allowing her to study mental deficiencies and illness and endocrinological imbalance as manifested in the hand.

(Something of note: Jake's grandmother Dr. Ruth Achs did studies of the palm of babies "born to mothers who had German measles early in their pregnancy during the epidemic that swept the U.S. in 1964-65" to look for clues in the palm that could linked to developmental abnormalities. Check out Time Magazine January 28, 1966.)

From the mid 1930s to the 1950s, she published several books on the study of the hand, including The Hand in Psychological Diagnosis. In 1941, in recognition of her work in chirology, she was made an honorary member of the British Psychological Association.

After moving to London, Huxley introduced Wolff to his brother Julian Huxley, the then secretary of the Royal Zoological Society, and he gave her permission to take the handprints of the apes at London Zoo for her comparative studies of the hands of apes and humans. She also got to know Dr William Stephenson of University College London and he was able to provide her with research facilities and access to mental colonies and hospitals for her to continue her researches into mental illness and the hand.

To earn a living, she was worked as a handreader, but grew tired of this and considered it secondary to her main aim of presenting psychological chirology on ascientific basis, than a social amusement of intellectual circles. Her investigations into the abnormal psychology of the hand was founded on the basic axiom of psychologyas a science that it is the study of the abnormal that provides the best evidence for the nature of the normal.

Wolff received her British citizenship in 1947. She often described herself as a "international Jewish woman with a British passport". It was after receiving citizenship Wolff gained her licensed to practice medicine in England.

Wolff worked for twenty years in the field of chirology, in which she had learned from Julius Spier. She and Spier wrote four books on the subject together

Her analysis of hands had awakened her interest in psychology, and she began an in-depth study of homosexuality, especially lesbianism in 1968. In 1971, she published the first comprehensive study of lesbianism, Love between Women. In it, Wolff examined the lives of 100 lesbians as compared to those of a control group. Her observations led to conclude that lesbians often have problematic relationships with their fathers, which causes them to fixate on their mothers. She also ascertained that bonds between lesbians are more emotional than sexual.

Her second study focused on bisexuality, involved interviewing 150 men and women, from which she published in her 1977 work, Bisexuality: A Study. Her opinions were more progressive. There she stated that "bisexuality is the root of human sexuality."

Wolff went on to publish An Older Love, an autobiographical novel about the passionate lives of women in their 60s, and an actual autobiography entitled Hindsight. Her final book was biography, Magnus Hirschfeld: A Pioneer in Sexology. In 2004, her correspondence with East German essayist and novelist Christa Wolf was published as Ja, unsere Kreise berühren sich: Briefe (Yes, Our Circles Touch Each Other: Letters).

Her writings, most of which were first published in English, then translated into German, were eagerly received by the emerging German lesbian movement of the 1970s, to whom she became something of an icon. In 1978, she returned to Germany for the first time since her emigration to give a reading sponsored by the lesbian group L.74, and in 1979, she lectured in Berlin on "Lesbian Love and the Women's Movement."

Her life spanned nearly a century of almost unimaginable changes in the status of both women and GLTB's. Born in Germany during the Victorian era, she saw the Nazis come to power as a young working woman, fleeing her homeland, and survived to see her own groundbreaking writings about lesbianism and bisexuality inspire a new generation of lesbians in Germany.

Wolff died in London on September 2, 1986.
