Watcha Selling?

There was a lot of selling going on today but it could've been a bit of bait and switch.

First there was this pic of  Jake and crew starting to film Everest today.

Didn't they try this last month?

Neither picture never said Jake was actually in the picture, just made the impression he was.

But a gambling man might go all in and say that Jake is on the Gulf Coast checking on Mississippi Grind.  A project he may no longer be listed as starring in, but doesn't mean he's no longer associated with it.  Yeah yeah  Mr. Producer.

Now why would Jake try to be selling everyone on him being anywhere  but in the Gulf?  Perhaps a bit of a "Texas Tall Tail"

And you can be Deep In The Heart of Texas by bedtime.

And speaking of that  -

Austin's just selling it -  the saucy minx- and damn proud of it.

I'm on sale y'all. You can pick up some of this for 17.99 - AUS10

Olympics for ALL Moment:

While several Olympic sponsors have spoken out against Russia's restrictions on gay rights ahead of the Sochi Winter Games, Chevrolet  rolled out two ads during the U.S. broadcast of the opening ceremony on Friday that feature gay couples.

The ads are the first to feature gay couples during an Olympic broadcast, according to GLAAD, an advocacy group for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. They also come at a time when a fairly new Russia law banning gay "propaganda" from reaching minors has drawn strong international criticism ahead of the Games.

Chevy, is not an official sponsor, didn't comment on the Russian laws specifically, instead saying in a statement that "these ads ... are not intended as any political commentary."

But some advertising experts say the commercials make a pretty clear statement. "Actions speak louder than words," said Allen Adamson, managing director of the New York office of branding firm Landor Associates. "The action of putting a spot on the Olympics is far more powerful than a press release. It's a very clear statement of what they believe Chevy stands for."

This ad, for Chevy, features a montage of different images of America, including a shot of a gay couple getting married. "Like the old love, the new love starts with a kiss," a voiceover states. "Like the old community, the new community still keeps us connected. ... A whole new lineup for a whole new world."

Turkey and the Straw

With a less Sensitive Julian this season, could this be one of the
stories for Julian and BrookeDavis this spring?

Let me u
se this straw as an example.
After all day taking care of the kids, the housework, my mother, your mother, Clay calling all the time, a hitman in Tree Hill, dogs with the munchies roaming the streets and trying to fit my directing career in, my bendy doesn't unbend at the snap of BrookeDavis' finger or anything else.

Poor little Julian, ju
st wants some BrookeDavis attention.
Are you even listening to me?

Don't worry about it, I met this Viagra sales guy. It was like ...magic! He gave you some samples?

Huhhh...you know, I never even thought to a
sked for samples.

Happy Austin Friday.

Marshal Matters

Jake isn't the only one with behind the scenes and extras this week. Check out Austin (or is that Marshal?) in a special Extras and Outtakes video put together from his Grand Marshal PR duties from this summer.

Austin is having a total blast and this is a side of Austin most haven't seen. Nutty, zany, funny he is just having a great time and enjoy it all. From changing his name, (Head Honcho? Big Cheese? El Hefe? Marshal?) to celebrating his shadow and talking about cowboys in the saddle along with those long lean legs of his(and you might not shave them Austin, but with the smooth stems you sported before,you've either had some Nair time or Waxed On Waxed Off) to giving a CSI Miami moment, squirting in public and a Woo (or is that an O face)?
And give him what? Three? No Austin is not talking about Lynrd Skynrd (although you can't put it past him) the three Austin's talking about is the LA CC and the LA Mayor's office's bike safety program for cars to put three feet between them and bike riders when they pass bikes.One thing for sure someone is a lucky duck and it isn't the Wild Turkey.

9. "Canoe, canoe?"

8. "It's Cumming"

7. "Just 100% Texan."

6. "Look at your man, now back to me. now back at your man, now back to me ...now take a guess. Noooooooo! .....It's Old Spice, silly."

5. "Sniff. Think it's baby wipes."

4. "The bottle said Charlie!"

3. "Icing. Santa must have missed a spot."

2." It's a my new fragrance Just Julian! for the OTH fragrance line. It's a little quirky, a little flirty, with just a hint of lederhosen and lavender."

and the #1 thing Austin might be wearing:

"A touch of Wild Turkey, a slash of Grey Goose and whole lot of Gyll-n-tonic"

LOL had a screening this week
, and looks like it is hitting it's target audience from the tweets. And how about Mr. Nichols? Well...

“I laughed, I cried, I envied their outfits, and learned so much. What else could I ask for? & Austin Nichols being in it was icing on da cake”

Seriously what it is about this boy and icing?

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

We know Austin loves tequila, and enjoys Mexican beaches, and he's not alone. Jake has talked in his past about slipping away to remote Mexican locales (definitely more private than Cabo ahem). The tequila? Not sure. But know he's a fan of Grey Goose, and Wild Turkey.

The old saying goes liquor is quicker, but don't think these two need that anymore.

Another adage is "Liquor Before Beer" and it is the title of this collage by Austin artist Luke Foster. It's a one of a kind original collage on 24x36 masonite with a high gloss varnish finish. If you click on the picture you will spot the Wild Turkey, then look to your left and see if you can find the way all things connect.
If you want to check out more of Luke's collages click here.

So got the turkey and tequila and now just throw in some legs and what do you get?

A good time. No doubt.

But here's one you can do yourself at home.

Cranberry and Tequila Turkey Legs

This is a great recipe for turkey legs. The combination of the cranberry juice, lime juice, and the chipotle peppers, makes this a delicious tart and spicy dish.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes
Ingredients:

* 6 turkey drumsticks
* 1 can cranberry sauce
* 1/4 cup cranberry juice
* 1/4 cup tequila
* 1/4 cup lime juice
* 3 chipotle peppers (in adobo sauce) minced
* 3 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 tablespoon lime zest
* 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
* 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
* 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation:
Place drumsticks in a large Zip-Top bag. Combine cranberry juice, 1 tablespoon tequila, 1 teaspoon lime peel, 2 tablespoons lime juice, and garlic in a small mixing bowl. Pour mixture over drumsticks, cover, and allow to marinate in refrigerator for 2-4 hours.

Preheat grill for medium-high heat. Place remaining ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil and allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes. Remove turkey and place on grill rack. Discard marinade. Cover and allow to cook for 50-60 minutes. Brush with prepared sauce throughout cooking. Once turkey is cooked, remove from heat and serve.

Looks like Jake would approve.

For the Birds

"But if you don't try to do it then you'll regret it for the rest of the time because that's what this movie is for. It's an opportunity to do crazy sh*t that you wouldn't normally be able to do. Like there's a whole scene with ostriches in the movie.
Yeah, you and me ostrich. Bring it on.

They’re all real ostriches, highly paid, and we were all briefed on them for weeks before like “They’re these massive destructive creatures that can tear your heart out with their claws.” (laughs)

I swear to God I never thought of an ostrich this way! And I was shaking in my boots when they finally brought them out and they’re (does an ostrich impression) and I walked up to it and one of my stuntmen was in the ring with them, and finally, I was like, “When am I going to be in a f*cking cage with ostriches again in my life? I gotta get in here!” So I got in there and they were the sweetest things

I have a thing with birds, I understand them, I know them, the birds are my people.

I wear their colors.

Throw down their signs.

I've a way with the ostrich.

The Big Bird.

The owl.

And the Goose.

I have tasted the Wild Turkey.
