Today is the Day. The last day of Oprah. And for that it's a look at Jake and Oprah.
Jake has been on Oprah one way or another 3 times.
The first time was back in 2004 , Jake helped get the vote out and hit up a college campus to get the word out in a segment for Lady O.

Jake even shook the pom poms for USC.
Who loves a Trojan man? ; )
Then in January of 2006, Jake and the rest of the cast of BBM had an audience with the daytime tv legend, sitting on her couch for a chat about BBM.

Not Oprah's best interview. Some of her questions, even made Jake think "what the...?"

A little snippet of classic Jake.
But going on Oprah did do something, that was bringing Brokeback to a whole new audience, and opening a dialog with people who may have never talked about same sex relationships before, let alone even thought about a same sex love story.

The last time Jake was on Oprah again was in a clip, after presenting at the Oscars in 2010.
Jake and Rachel talking to Nate
What Jake didn't expect was Nate's question about Heath.
And there is one more Jake and Oprah connection, and a favorite thing to both - food.
Oprah's friend and former personal chef Art Smith co-owns, Table Fifty-Two, in Chicago, and Ms. Winfrey has sent many who have visited her show there to experience Smith's down home goodness.
“Oprah іѕ really loyal,” ѕаіԁ Smith. “Shе sent unconstrained people tο thе restaurant, frοm Robert Redford аnԁ Jake Gyllenhaal tο Demi Moore, Miley Cyrus аnԁ Fergie frοm thе Black Eyed Peas.” Source

Beautiful Summer
Austin is working on another movie this week.
I just started a really cool film today. I LOVE MOVIES - AUS10
Could it be the Sandler movie, "I Hate You Dad" (gold star to M&M for tracking down that title) or another movie ?
But while he's doing that Austin still has two movie to come out.
Well the wait is not that much longer for one.
Beautiful Boy opens on Friday June 3 in New York or Los Angeles and selected cities. It comes out bringing with it strong reviews. Beautiful Boy was a winner at the Toronto Film Festival and has been getting high praise since, especially the performance of Mario Bello.
It was a small project made for about $1 million but brings a big punch and new perspective to unfortunately a scene that has played out several times in the past few year.
The story finds middle class couple Bill and Kate Carroll, on the verge of separating, having to face "grief, guilt, rage, and blame" after their 18-year-old son’s shooting rampage on his college campus and his subsequent suicide. And through it the question is will be what ends their marriage or what rebuilds it?
Meatloaf is the hotel manager who is saying everything the public wants to say. Surrounding them are family, friends and neighbors do what they think is best, or helpful, or what they feel they need to do.
An unconventional love story, one person who saw the movie in Toronto called the experience heartbreaking but well worth it.
Austin plays Cooper Stearns a writer who's following the aftermath of the story.
Austin's other movie LOL: The Movie is slated to come out during the holiday season before the end of the year.
And if it's Tuesday it must be Two Wheels.
Get out and ride.

Cheese Boy
What would you think if you were compared to cheese. Sometimes it's good thing, like being The Big Cheese. But a softie maybe not?
From the LA Times:
"Cheeses whose creamy centers give like a soft-serve cone on a hot day will always have dates to the cheese prom. The spreadable, sweet demeanor of crèmes leads to instant popularity, and their snowy rinds and plush interiors make them some of the best-looking wheels around. But even cheeses made of pure decadence and cream, whose presence can elicit sighs like Jake Gyllenhaal appearing shirtless in the "Prince of Persia," can bore. Talk to a cheesemonger who has been sampling Brillat Savarin or Fromage D'Affinois to customers for years, and you'll likely be met with a resigned sigh or shrug of the shoulders.
Well Jake and cheese do go way back.
(yup that is Jakey in the "trailer" for This is Spinal Tap)

Look how he rolls!
Jake - double or triple creme? Is he soft and creamy?
And Mr Nichols?
A Dutch Edam?
Or good ole' Longhorn?
And with those noggins it's a toss up who is The Stinky Cheese Man. But that bacon grin might be the deciding factor. (An who's head is more Gorgonzola?)

"Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm The Stinky Cheese Man!"
Soon you will be like Cheese Boy: melty, melty, melty!

Out Spotlight
Today's Out Spotlight is a successful jazz musician who feared coming out would end his career, but found when he did it was the exact opposite. Today's Out Spotlight is jazz saxophonist Dave Koz.
Dave Koz was born on March 27, 1963 in Encino, California. He discovered his love of the saxophone in 7th grade. His saxophone became his best friend. Attending William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, CA, he was as a member of the school jazz band.
He went on to attend UCLA graduating with a degree in mass communications in 1986. Just weeks after graduation, he decided to try and make it as a professional musician. Within weeks he was hired as a member of Bobby Caldwell's tour. For the rest of the decade, he worked as a session musician for several musicians and tours, including Jeff Lorber and Richard Marx. He was also in the house band for the short-lived The Pat Sajak Show.
Because they look and sound similar, Koz is often compared to and mistaken for another well-known saxophonist, David Sanborn, and sometimes he has been billed as "the second coming of Sanborn."
In 1990, he began to pursue a solo career, and started recording for Capitol Records where he did made 3 albums His album Saxophonic was nominated for both a Grammy Award and an NAACP Image Award.
In 1994, he began hosting a syndicated radio program, The Dave Koz Radio Show (formerly Personal Notes), featuring the latest music and interviews with who's who in jazz. He also co-hosted of The Dave Koz Morning Show With Pat Prescott on 94.7 The Wave, a smooth jazz station in LA for six years. He moved on in January 2007 and was replaced by Brian McKnight.
In 2002, Koz started a record label, Rendezvous Entertainment, with Frank Cody and Hyman Katz.
Knowing he was gay since he was a teenager, Koz found the courage to come out to his family and friends after several "This Thanksgivings I will" as he says. Out to his family and friends, there was just on part of his life he was not out. His professional life. Koz feared that coming out would end his career as a jazz musician.
In an April 2004 interview with The Advocate, Koz came out publicly as a gay man. Just months later, he was named by People magazine as one of their "50 Hottest Bachelors" in their June issue.
When he came out he instantly expanded his already large fan base and shattered a lot of myths about gay men and music.
Looking back on his interview with the Advocate, he said, "I think everyone makes that leap at the right time in their own lives—there is no absolute rule, and thus I tend to shy away from giving anyone else advice on how to do this. In my own experience however, I never had a master plan to come out…that moment shocked me when it came—I sort of knew it instinctively and I said to myself, “It’s time”. Up until that point it was something I was either too worried, or too freaked out to do. I wasn’t willing to risk it…but then something surprising happened.
I was doing an interview for another gay publication—and the interviewer initially said it was just to speak on the music, no personal questions. His editors had a different agenda and he came back to me saying that in order for the article to run I would have to address my sexuality. Well, I noticed the way this information made me feel…and for the first time ever, it didn’t scare the &*%# out of me! I went to my managers with the idea of coming out—they were super supportive, having helped Melissa Etheridge along her journey. But they said if you’re going to do it, do it with The Advocate. And that’s exactly what happened—a few months later, just about in sync with my turning 40, it was done. This little piece of information that I’d been guarding so preciously all my adult life was finally out there for the world to see. Of course at the time I was freaking out…but I haven’t looked back since. By far, the very best thing I’ve ever done for myself. "
In 2006, he was selected to host a syndicated afternoon show for Broadcast Architecture's new Smooth Jazz Network. The show, based in LA, it is broadcast on Smooth Jazz stations across the country. Koz and Ramsey Lewis are the only two Smooth Jazz personalities to host two different syndicated shows during the week.
Since 2005 he has hosted the annual Dave Koz & Friends Jazz Cruises.
He is also the host of a weekly half-hour television series named Frequency put on by Fast Focus. The show is interviews with musicians such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Jonathan Butler, and Kelly Sweet and then Koz performing with the guests on their best known hits.
A busy performer with recording, touring, and shows, he also was the bandleader on The Emeril Lagasse Show.
For the past 15 years, Dave has served as Global Ambassador for The Starlight Children's Foundation, an organization dedicated to making a difference for seriously ill children. In 2006, he was awarded the Humanitarian Of The Year Award from Starlight and for the past five years, Dave and his fans have helped Starlight deliver cuddly bears to hospitalized children during the holidays.
On September 22, 2009, Koz received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The same year he celebrate 20 years with Columbia records. He's not the first out performer to receive a star, but finding another example among the 2,000 plus recipients is like a needle-haystack.
In October 2010, Koz performed "Start All Over Again" on a episode of Desperate Housewives alongside singer Dana Glover.“Start All Over Again” offers hope in the face of adversity. As Koz points out, “The message isn’t new, but it’s one that we all need to hear in one way or another. “No matter how bad things might be, if you’re still alive, if you’re still breathing, there’s still the opportunity for you to start over again and do whatever you want with your life. That’s the situation a lot of people are in right now. They’re being forced to pull up their bootstraps and figure out a way to move forward into uncharted territory.”
Koz took part in Dan Savage It Get's Better Project. He revealed how his music got him through the struggles of growing up gay and how coming out changed his life and career.
He also launched his own line of wines, with Whole Foods and auditioned for a “big TV show” that sounded a lot like Dancing With the Stars. And wound up on Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker when his brother was looking to meet his match. But he's not ready to put his dating go reality show.
After 7 years after coming out and being named one of People magazine's Most Eligible Bachelors, he's still single, but looking for that right guy.

Dogs and cats living together...
Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...
The dead rising from the grave!
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
With all the talk leading to the end of the world and the rising of the dead OMG follows suit.
Oh drat. I just heard the world is ending tomorrow. Headed to wal-mart for canned beans and batteries. - Aus10
As Austin prepared to hole up with beans and batteries. And wait a minute Mr. Environment, batteries for what?
There are crank and solar radios

and flashlights
and cell phone chargers.
Then again a stockpile of beans you may need batteries for hand fan.
But are you prepared for zombies?
The city of Austin is ready, how about you?

Yes Yes you might have fought them on screen but doesn't that mean that you can handle them in real life.

No worries the CDC has got you covered for getting ready for zombies.
And who's the one that got churched? That would be Jake. And in his Underoos no less.

And that was not just any church but one quite famous in movie history.
And you thought only Jake and Dustin had this in common.

The End is Near!???
While most know by now that OTH was renewed for 13 episodes what you might not know is when it will be back on the air.
After The CW's Up Fronts yesterday, it was found out that OTH will not be coming back in the fall, but is a mid-season starting in January. (And that pretty much guarantees there will be only 13 episodes)
Half season - half shirts?Half season- half sweaters more like it.
(hint: CW maybe hook up with
Old Navy as a sponsor)
And it looks like Austin might getting more into behind the camera in this last gasp.
Sorry for my absence. I am writing a script for all of you. I hope you will like it.
Sounds like Austin is working on a script for the show, or maybe a spec script to be considered. Chad Michael Murray got a chance to write and direct and episode, and with only 13 episodes why not use the opportunity for everything you can get the chance to do.
One word Austin, dude you have to be bring back the dog that ate Dan's heart, maybe as pet for twins. With all time jumps the OTH does they could be 16 and the dog eats their stash and then all the food at Karen's Cafe while Julian quotes Harold and Kumar and whilte they think their dad is lame as Mom thinks he is.

And where's Austin? Well he said something about pat downs and airports earlier this week. Did he bug out early before end of the world happens or does he just like to go through security for tender moments with the TSA? Maybe he was getting a head start before the rest of LA follows.

After a karate workout earlier yesterday,

Jake hauled himself thru LAX with his bags (and maybe a snack)in tow.

Was Jake getting the heck out of

Some are saying no, so grab that bucket list and knock a few things off while you got the chance. ; )
Happy Austin Friday.
