Dental Records

Many think that's Jake's checklist is this:

But this is more like it:

There is some speculation that this chart gets another tooth.  What leads to this speculation is a congratulations on Austin's fb page over a new Capricorn or Sagittarius from a friend of friend from TX.

One thing for sure there is more than one tooth that has come in for Jake and Austin on that chart. And if so what's one more when there's plenty of room.

Another sure thing is that Jake has wrapped filming Stronger here in Boston.   The production has been much more under the radar than Wahlberg's Patriot's Day movie which had their shooting schedule announced practically everyday on the news.

There were mentions here and there of Jake filming and occasional sighting of Jake in Boston and the area, but as many you would suspect since Stronger has been filming here since April.

Jake plays Jeff Bauman and the film focus on the story of his resilience after losing both of his legs during the Boston Marathon bombing and coming back stronger.  Many people in New England have expressed more interest in this smaller film focused on Jeff that reliving the events of the bombing the film.  Time will tell how both movies are received.

With filming wrapped, Jake already here and it is the season for the Cape and the Islands, is a Jake sighting at the West Tisbury Farmer's Market far behind?

It's a lot to sink your teeth in.

Summer Sentimental

The recent pictures from the farmers market in West Tisbury were a reminder of the tradition of summers on The Vineyard for Jake.

So as this last "unofficial" week is wra
pping up, OMG can't help but look back at Jake at the Cape.

And we're off....

Green pants alert

OMG's first post was a MV/Chilmark one too.

And we can't forget how OMG got word of Jake flying off island later in the same day after Austin's early morning run in with the Jackson MI police.

To market, to market

Pictures of Jake back at the West Tisbury Farmers Market on Martha's Vineyard popped up with a barefoot shopping and chatting.

With President Obama on the Vineyard for his summer vacation at the moment, you wonder why Jake would want to deal with that circus.

But then again it is the end of summer, and the Vineyard is a part of Jake's summer traditions so you can see why he would want to head back before the season is over.

And then again it might be good place for hiding in plain sight if everyone is on Obama Watch few if any would be tracking Jake there.

Because you know,  a guy just wants some time to kick back and grab some melons sometimes.
Did you expect him to grab something else?

Handy Hurricane

OMG has always said  Austin is always in step and prepared for a flood

or a hurricane

Amd Jake's pretty handy with an umbrella

Or maybe handy when someone else is holding the umbrella

But what happens when you have a handy hurricane?

You land in Martha's Vineyard.

Yup thanks to OMG's tweet finder (aka PG)  Jake was spotted on the Vineyard by several tweets. (1) (2) (3) (4)  (And what's the whole G family mean? Mom and Maggie and kids and Peter? Or something else?)

Who's in the kitchen?

Someone's in the kitchen and it's not Dinah.

Jake working at the Beach Plum in MV with his buds and throwing some love to the camera.

Some actors want to be rock stars, others prep chefs.

You never know who might be making your amuse bouche.

But bet Austin knows who makes his. ; )

Island Kitchen Brigade

The old adage is "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

But in Jake's  case, it drove him to a kitchen.

Looks like Jake has left one island for another.

Several tweets have place Jake in Martha's Vineyard and jumping on the line of the cooking crew at Beach Plum Inn in Menemsha.

And how does Jake just grab a chef coat and jump in?  Well when the executive chef is your best friend, it helps.

While most of us would daydream about being famous and not working, Jake seems to be the opposite. And we know from past interviews this isn't the first time Jake has found his way to the back of the house and on the line.  And for Jake cooking is relaxing.  It sounds like this is his idea of vacation.

Although a week of high temps and high humidity and spending in a hot busy kitchen would not be a vacation for most.

It is nice to see him heading back to MV to share the holiday with friends (and family).  The island has special memories and it is a homecoming in a way.  It's been a while since it's been public about him being back on the Vineyard. Sure that this visit will no doubt be just as special of a memory.  Wonder if Jake will go catch the 4th of July parade in Edgartown?

Keep your eyes and ears open to see if Jake shows up to help out with the Farmer's Market this weekend or if he pops up at the Chilmark Flea Market.  Or maybe on a snack run at the Chilmark Store.

Island Screening

Well Jake it seems was still on The Vineyard, as of last week, according to the NY Daily News He, Maggie and Peter went down to road to check out what was playing at the Chilmark Community Center.

On Wednesday, Caroline Kennedy, "Jarhead" star Jake Gyllenhaal, his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband Peter Sarsgaard checked out "The Tillman Story," Amir Bar-Lev's documentary about the death of pro-football-player-turned Army Ranger Pat Tillman that hits theaters this month. The film, which looks into the military's cover-up of Tillman's death from friendly fire in Afghanistan in 2004, was hosted by Russell Baer, a soldier in Tillman's platoon, at the Chilmark Community Center in Martha's Vineyard. And a source at the screening tells us that Jake, hung around "to meet Baer" after the screening.

ESPN did an incredible story about Pat and friend Russ back in 2006.

"One day, God willing, Russell Baer was going to tell his son this story. One day, after the boy's heart and brain had healed, he was going to point to that picture on the kid's bedroom shelf of the man doing a handstand on the roof of a house, take a deep breath and say, Mav, that's a man who lived a life as pure and died a death as muddy as any man ever to walk this rock, and I was there for both. That's the man, when your heart stopped for an hour and they slit you open neck to navel, who I prayed to because ... well, because you wouldn't exist if he hadn't died, and I wouldn't be half of who I am if he hadn't taught me how to live. That's Pat Tillman, the man you take your middle name from, and I've been waiting for you to ask since the day you were born.

Russ never got that chance: Maverick Patrick Baer died on Monday. So now Russ has Pat's story stuck in his heart...."

..."Russ missed the stress debrief. As the Tillmans' closest platoon mate, he was chosen to escort Kevin on a flight to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, to stare for hours at that refrigerated coffin. The two men flew in silence, Russ under orders to say nothing about the incident, "until we get the facts," and Kevin still assuming that the enemy had killed his brother, too stunned and grief-stricken to ask Russ for details.

Dread began to boil inside Russ. In a few days he'd be representing the U.S. Army at Pat's memorial service, the lone Ranger there who'd been anywhere near Pat when he was killed, facing Pat's family and friends ... under a gag order. He was willing to defy that order, to clean latrines for the rest of his life for the sake of Pat's family, but he knew bullets were hissing everywhere that day ... what if the conclusions he'd drawn were somehow wrong? What if he told Pat's mom that her son had been blown away by his own men and suddenly found himself in a media firestorm, only for Army investigators to uncover evidence proving otherwise? On the saddest day of his life, he was going to have to squirm and evade the people who loved Pat most.

All he wanted to do, in those few days at his grandmother's house before Pat's service, was sleep, find the bottom of a few beer bottles and stare into space, but his cousin yanked him out of bed and dragged him to -- of all places -- the Sunshine Saloon Sports Bar in Pleasanton, Calif. A young woman named Tammy Wright happened to be sitting at a table there, and though in a mood to meet no one, Russ met the love of his life on a night when he would've been 7,500 miles away if Pat hadn't died. Funny, Pat had told Russ that his old girlfriend was all wrong for him."

Catch Me If You Can

Austin might have tweeted about but is it Jake who is trying to play it?

After two weeks on the Vineyard, there is now official sightings in the paper about him being there, not just one mention but two mentions two day in a row.

yesterday

Vintage actor Brian Dennehy grabbing dinner at V.R.’s in Wellfleet . . . Hollywood sibs Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal shopping and stopping to chat with friend Chris Fischer at the West Tisbury Farmers Market . . . Jake and pal “Smallville” actor Tom Welling, along with boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard and Black Dog top dog Rob Douglas, yukking it up at Lenny Clarke’s comedy show at David Ryan’s in Edgartown . . .July 12th The Inside Track

and today.

Curb Your Enthusiasm” kvetch Larry David and “Prince of Persia” hunk Jake Gyllenhaal supping at the Chilmark Tavern on The Rock - but not together - . . . July 13th The Inside Track

The Track is the gossip for Boston and they make a point of covering MV and Nantucket during the season. If you want to known for being around on the island, the Track Girls are the ones to do it for you.

So why is it after 2 weeks comments of tweets about ferries and farmers markets about Jake being in MV, and not a pic to prove he was anywhere else would there be two sighting on two days and why these days?

Now before going further. There's this.

"There's a lot of deliciousness to tackle in this post, better find a comfortable seat! To start, let me set the scene. My friend Fiona (who writes the food blog A Boston Food Diary) and I had graciously accepted a very generous invitation to a private tasting menu at the District Lounge. Located between Chinatown and South Station in the Leather District, it is the definition of "off the beaten path". By trade, the District Lounge is an exclusive club that has lines around the block and celebs galore (I was informed that a Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal was there last week, wish I had known that!). " - Once Upon a Small Kitchen

Now the District Lounge is definitely one of the clubs on the short list of top spots, not too big, and like the blogger said "off the beaten path" and lines to get in the place. It has been on the Improper Bostonians list of the best for several years.

Jake in Boston and not one tweet or peep? Can he get off island and move around where he wanted to go and not get a mention? It might not be always easy but yup, think so, and think he has got it down after all these years. When he wants to move undetected he can. But what does that have to do with the two mentions confirming him on The Vineyard?

Isn't it odd that the first one happens to on the very day Austin is on the move and heading east? And then a follow up day to make it sounds like he was out last night at The Chilmark Tavern. But did you notice there are no specific mentions of exactly what day he was there?

Ask yourself this, is it to make it look like he just started his vacation there after two weeks after all ready being there?

Could it really be to place him there and everyone think he's there, when he's all ready gone and on the move himself? Somewhere where the latitude is closer to34.225N. than 41.343N? A little bit more misdirection?

Sounds like Jake could be staying one step ahead and going south at the same time.

Update: Why could have Jake been in Boston last week? Could have been to film the PSA for "Stand Up to Cancer" that is going to be on tonight's MLB's All-Star Game? Maybe filming it at Fenway? He is a self professed Sox Fan. Guess we will have to see tonight.

"Gyllenhaal will appear in a "Stand Up to Cancer" public service announcement set to debut during Major League Baseball's All-Star Game airing Tuesday evening on Fox." - Associated Press

To market to market

You can take away the Hollywood but you can't take the farmers market out of the fella.
Looks like this morning Jake was at the Farmers Market in West Tisbury, on The Vineyard.
So jealous @lindenmia got to see Jake Gyllenhaal at the WT Farmers Market and i'm at work... oh well. - AdoreLaVie

And no doubt he knows all the farms that bring the best to market, best friend's included. And all the veggies, fruits and flowers are island grown. Every Saturday and Wednesday morning during the summer, the farmers pick their best and bring it to the West Tisbury center. And beside island grown fruit and produce there's baked goods, jams, salsas, and spring rolls?!?

Even Atti is welcome as long as he's on a leash. (Not that well behaved boy needs one, but rules are rules)

The market started before Jake was born, and no doubt a part of his summers growing up. Does anyone else remember an story of selling muffins when they were little?

Jake's talked about his Island summers; building sand castles with his dad on the beach, friends, mom's garden, summer jobs and of course the jellyfish story. But did you know that he and Maggie graced the stage there as well? Yes they both participated at Vineyard Playhouse as part of their summer season.

Those are some of the things Jake's done there, but he'll never go on a Starbucks run or grab McDonald's. Because he swore off Starbucks and would never grace the Golden Arches? Well maybe.

But for sure won't do them there is because they are not allowed on the island, in fact no chain stores are. There are no 24 hour places to grab a snack, and he's never find a stoplight, well except the one blinking red light on entire the island.

What does do get there? Local shops, great food, beautiful beaches, wonderful memories who wouldn't want to share that.
