Now this is serious

Jake skipped the red carpet last night and just hit the stage running introducing former co-star and friend Michelle Williams' movie "My Week with Marilyn" early in the eventNot the first time was there for his friend. Jake was there for Michelle last fall when Marylin debuted at the NYFF. That time going for something a bit more casual. But last night he ditched his NY go to fall formal wear and cut a dashing figure as he stepped out into the Hollywood fishbowl for the first time without his former long time manager or his former agency.

Looking fabulous in a Ferragamo double breasted tux that fit him like a glove, he faced his new future in Hollywood head first and got down to business right away.
Hmmm....Maybe I should have
opened with Candle in the Wind...
why'd Elton have to be here tonight

Jake inspired much a twitter flutter last night even making the trending top ten.

Speaking of tweets. Think he might have inspired this particular one?

Even when they seem out of reach, never stop chasing your dreams. Run at them. Head First. - Aus10

But it wasn't business all weekend. Jake did have time Saturday to have breakfast with friend and Michelle's Golden Globe date Busy and her family.
He had hood shields up but showing of some colors heading in.
and looked like there was a lot on his mind as he said goodbye to everyone.

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
Today we stop and remember a man who called for acceptance, tolerance and rights for all.

Let us continue the legacy he left behind.

Friendly Fetes

While family wasn't there, Jake wasn't alone. It was old friends night for Jake.

Longtime friend Jenny Lewis was Jake's date for the evening . He's favorite bodyguard too. Hmmmm. Didn't see Jake wearing any bling that needed security. Maybe it was Jenny's bag.

Always dashing and debonair. He did the red carpet on his own.

He might not have won, but he did have a little Freak out yesterday.

First with Busy and family at lunch.

Then he saw old high school friend Jason Segel on the red carpet and hugged it out.

One question - did Ryan Seacrest really tap Jake on the hip?

No worries, Austin you got over a foot on him and with those long arms could totally take 'im.

One picture is all it takes - Radar is reporting that Jake was chatting up Camilla at the Art of Elysium. He and Camilla already had something in common. She previously dated Joe Jonas, also an ex of Jake's previous honey, Taylor Swift! Mission Accomplished Mr. G. The parting snap back at Ms T and her team.

Armed and dangerous(ly)...... handsome

"Jake is a funny motherf@&#!%. And handsome. And strong. And I'm very jealous of him!"

"I was doing my usual thing of to squeeze him in Mute(Duncan "long-gestating sci-fi") He was like, 'Yeah, yeah!' Now what about this thing?'"(Source Code) - Duncan

One thing Duncan and Jake did do is inject some humor into such an intense thriller. Can totally see Jake saying "tension breaker had to be done" (name that movie).

Funny, handsome, strong. And for some in Palm Springs, a bit salty.

Check out what The Desert Sun said :

The Film Festival's opening night gala is the highlight of the social season, but we're always disappointed when the celebrities revert to bad language. Jake Gyllenhaal, presenting the Desert Palm Achievement Award to Natalie Portman, uttered a few words we can't repeat in a family newspaper. And the usually distinguished Rep. Mary Bono Mack got carried away with her description of how fine a job Cher did with Diane Warren's song “Burlesque.”You're professional communicators. There's no need for that.

That might be why Jake made the list of celebrities that most gay men would like to have a sex fantasy encounter with in Out magazine's sex survey. He joined the list with Cheyenne Jackson, Ricky Martin, James Franco and Zac Efron. Top of the list? Ryan Reynolds.

Now what will happen at the Golden Globes? Singing? Dancing?

Watch Jake at the Golden Globes, tomorrow, Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 (PST)/8:00-11:00 (EST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, live on NBC in the US. For those outside the US, check your local listings for time and channel.

Cinderfella?

Little Golden Books presents:

Once upon a time there was a fella who was at the Golden Globe PartiesGG 2003 After Party

But in recent years hasn't been seen, more like just doing his job.

Too pooped to party?

Too savvy to be seen?

Golden Glow

Think some had thought Jake had been nominated for a Golden Globe before yesterday's announcement. Jake has gotten an Oscar nomination, a SAG nomination and won the BAFTA. Brokeback won 4 Golden Globes but that was one nomination that alluded Jake.

Not anymore.

Jake was nominated yesterday for his first Golden Globe, (Best Actor Comedy or Musical) by the Hollywood Foreign Press .

Jake told Variety about finding out about the nomination, "it was almost delivered by messenger." And added,"I would have loved to have had it delivered by some person in Shakespeare garb." But it was a flurry of phone calls, texts, and 25 emails, including one from Annie who was also nominated, and it was, transcribed by Jake, “Dude! Exclamation point. Congrats! Millions of exclamation points. You did it! Exclamation points. First Golden Globe nom, right? Millions of question marks. X.”

Anne has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in Rachel Getting Married. Jake spoke about being nominated together for their work on LaOD. "It’s nice because the last movie we did [Brokeback Mountain] was acknowledged with awards. There’s something about us working together that seems to feel good and feel right." Both must be also excited that they get to share it with Michelle too, who was nominated for her role in Blue Valentine.

Speaking with the entertainment new shows yesterday you can see how sincerely flattered Jake is from being nominated. This is the true blue fella that we've known for all these year. And happy, happy talking about getting ready to celebrate his birthday and the holiday with his family. He's got that sense of excitement that comes with the anticipation of being with the one(s) you love.

Jake finds himself up against Kevin Spacey,Paul Giamatti and Johnny Depp squared in the race, but Jake's past might help him. In 2006 he was up against Don Chealde, Matt Damon and the "George Twins" for the BAFTA, taking the win. Go Jake Go.

The awards will be telecast live Jan. 16 on NBC from the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Ricky Gervais will return as host of the three-hour ceremony. Do you think he will be able to resist the urge to make a joke about a stiff one? The Viagra maybe, the boozey crowd no way.

Win or lose Jake always has his golden guy, goy, goose.

Now that's a ring ...
and a good stocking stuffer for a Big Ring lover.

Kudos for two

Congratulations all around today.

Must have been on the Nice list this year because the wish was for Austin to get a chance to go behind the camera and show us what he can create came true.

Congratulations to Austin who will be directing an episode of OTH. A teaser of an interview with TV Guide, reveals that Austin will be directing episode 18 for this spring.

"When I get back from the new year I'll start prepping and then I'll shoot that in January,"
Can't wait to see Austin's vision of the Crazy Tree.

OTH has been working on Ep 14 at the moment. Austin has tweeted that Quinton Aaron, who was in The Blind Side, is there now in NC. He is in the 14th ep, where he will play Tommy, a student in Nathan’s business class who is singled out by Professor Kellerman for being an athlete. As such, Tommy goes on to form a bond with former hoops star Nathan. Right now he is only set to be in the one episode. It will be on during February sweeps. Austin and James must be loving not being the tallest ones on the set.

Did you know Austin and Quinton know someone in common:

Spoiler alert - its Hangover OTH style. But is it Julian who gets the pre-matrimonial male mayhem? Who are we kidding? Come on it's all about BrookeDavis(TM).

“The girls have a big bachelorette party and they all wake up and don’t remember anything.” “The whole episode is them the next day piecing it together, all the different locations and figuring out what they did.”

“There was no bachelor party for Julian. I got to say it hurts my feeling a little bit,” (TV Guide)

What would be funny would be to see what Julian would do Home Alone without BrookeDavis(TM) supervision in contrast to the ladies. Would it involve bungling bad guys and slapstick crime fighting? Or a whole lot of Wham and ABBA?

Austin's effort for Gulf Relief, Gasoline Rainbows, continues to grow, going worldwide soon.

And it's not just Austin getting the congratulations today.

Big Congratulations to Jake on his Golden Globe nomination .
Jake was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy for his slick talking Viagra salesman in LaOD. Must admit, who doesn't love a chance to see Jake in a tux?

Your Two Wheel Tuesday moment.

Not exactly two wheels but fun.

Tipsy Texan aka the Pickled Nichols

Austin at the WB/In Style Party last night and you know I 've seen this look before.

Hmmm where have I?
Oh that's right.

Here.

and the jury is still out if it was it here too

Maybe it's
Ta ta ta ta Tequila face
Ta ta ta ta Tequila face

Back in the fall Austin was seen with Sophia for a couple of other events. He was asked why he was there.

"To be honest, I'm here to drink the free tequila and come to the Hammer Museum because I'm an art lover," he explained of why he happened to be at the event. "I'm just here to enjoy the party!"

When asked specifically if he was Sophia's date for the night (which he was so obviously was), he wouldn't confirm or deny the hookup.

"I'm not gonna say anything except that...I'm here to drink. We were talking before, we have a bunch of friends together, we work together," he said. Party Girl E!Online Oct 12, 2009

Looking back at an old interview Austin did with Ocean Drive it might give a little background to his approach these kind of events.

Ocean Drive: Have you ever been to Miami?

"I did an independent movie there for maybe two weeks. I went to this famous place, a nightclub where you sit around the pool. The producers took me out on South Beach one night. It was ridiculous. We went to the hotels, sat by the pool and had drinks, and I got completely obliterated. It was the only way I could deal. I'm not very good in those situations."

Jake did the video for Blame it on the a a a a a alcohol with Jamie Foxx
But maybe Jake and Austin could do it as a duet with a interesting crescendo.

Blame it on the Goose
Got you feeling loose

Blame it on Petron
Got you in the zone

Oh yeah OTH is back tonight after their multi week break on the CW.
Little Hollywood Trivia for you. Did you know that The CW is a joint venture between CBS Corporation, the former owners of United Paramount Network (UPN), and Time Warner's Warner Bros., former majority owner of The WB Television Network.

Wow the faces of OTH at the WB party the night before they come back from reruns. Funny that.

Wonder Sophia got a chance to see if there will be a season 8 or not for her show.

Gold Mine

Monday night is date night for Julian and Brooke.
Now Julian has that snarky smooth charm with a touch of self deprecation thing down pat when flirting with the ladies. They hate him a little, smile a little more and then get totally charmed by him.

The question is art imitating life with Julian's wooing ways? You think this is Austin's m.o.?

But the twain may meet there. While Austin is a serious flirt - it looks like he's more a long term kind of guy than serial dater. But that's not to say that he doesn't have a serious woo game. Now you think he got woo'd himself a little bit?

Of course last night was the Golden Globes. Heath was honored for his incredible work in in The Dark Knight, and in a way for his whole body of work as an actor, receiving the Golden Globe for Best Support Actor. Austin's Informers' co-star Mickey Rourke was the comeback miracle of the night with his win as Best Actor.

And Jake? Jake came out as his handsome self to introduce David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons. Dashing and dapper with a touch of scruff, Jake again makes a tux look even better, complete with the perfect pocket square. But he was doing something a little different than he's done in a while. A vest. Why would someone with abs all mighty cover them with vest? Think he is falling under some "vested interest"?
