Fantastic News

At the beginning of the month, it was announced that Nightcrawler would be premiering at Toronto International Film Fest. And TIFF is coming up fast. As in next week. (Where did summer go?)

Nightcrawler's world premiere will be at the Elgin/Winter Theatres on Friday, September 5th, at 9:00 pm, with additional screenings on the following Saturday, at noon, and then again on Friday, September 12th.

And while The Great White North is the international red carpet premiere of Nightcrawler, Jake and crew are taking the movie way down south for the U.S. premiere.

Now wherever could that be?

Can you say "Deep in the Heart of Texas"

The U.S. red carpet premiere of "Nightcrawler" was the highlight of the second wave of announcements coming out today about Austin, TX's upcoming 10th anniversary edition of Fantastic Fest, which runs from Sept. 18-25th.

The movie premiere will close out the festival which takes place at the newly reopened Alamo South Lamar and Highball theaters.

Fantastic Fest focuses on off-the-radar genre films from U.S. and abroad
and is "largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and just plain fantastic movies from all around the world."

 Don't think they had a tough time convincing one of the movie's producers to bring Nightcrawler to Texas, do you?

From Start to Finish

Not many times do you get the chance to take the spark that inspired you to go on to create a film from start to finish and be involved in every single process in the life of the film.

With Stroker, Austin got a chance to do just that.

 Phil Stroker wakes up in a world of cubicles and florescent lights. His co-workers shout at him for being too slow. He can no longer connect to his wife in a meaningful way. No one treats him with any respect. One day after work, Phil walks into the water and swims home. For the first time in his life, he finds something that he is good at. And as he explores deeper and deeper into this new world, Phil may find out that the world he has been living in, for so long, is not his rightful place. 

It seems like the creative writer is speaking from experience and it's not about the water theme.


Now it's time to show it off and see the metaphor on screen.

Accessory and Accessorize

Austin found his Southern accent and all the accessories in his drawer to play the Boss in We Can't Help You.

The man loves a big watch

 There's Big Gold that he got over the holidays one year and sported on OTH's big Julian's Film Festival arch.

Now who else does the gold band pinky ring?

And a big jangle on a chain?

And we know that with many of these kinds of projects, the actors provide their own wardrobe, and since Austin's such a big fan of accessories and has worn some of these before, no doubt they're all his.

As one of those famous Steel Magnolias said... "The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize."

And it's not the only film of Austin's this summer.  Stroker has its premiere next month at The 10th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival on Wednesday August 20th at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

The HollyShorts Film Festival (HSFF) is an annual film festival showcasing the best and brightest short films from around the globe. HollyShorts is devoted to the advancement filmmakers through screenings, Q&A sessions and networking events.

The HollyShorts Film Festival showcases the top short films produced 30-minutes or less.

Stroke ....Stroke.... Stroke

Austin tweeted that his film Stroker is being shown at it's first film festival

Written and directed by Austin it also stars Virginia Williams,
Marisa Quinn, Sonny Carl Davis and Julie Holland. Austin's friend Dan Keyes provided the music.

His co-star and fellow Texan  Quinn recently spoke about the movie, and that it said it will be out on the festival circuit.

No word what festival it is, but OMG will keep on the look out for it. 

Posting Up

With a just few weeks before all the festivals get into full swing, promotionals are starting  to roll out for both Jake and Austin.

Yesterday Austin tweeted a picture (that won't get him in trouble at home or with management) of Parkland movie poster.

And for other half of the dashing duo, there  several new pictures of Jake in Prisoners promo pics and the International trailer for the movie.

Jake's in front with more promos,  with trailers and pics,  but there's still time Austy for you to catch up, especially with a sneak peek of your 60's Texan look.

Face Off

Jake doesn't only face off with himself in An Enemy, but now his two movies with have their own face off at Toronto.

It was announced today that both of Jake's new films, An Enemy and Prisoners, are official selections at the Toronto International Film Festival. 

So now Jake has the chance to be seen in Toronto, three times- Actor, Teacher, Detective

And oh... maybe as Kennedy fan. ; )

Fest' Up

Jake will be all Fest'd up with both of his films with Denis Villeneuve at almost back to back film festivals.

 
“An Enemy,”  will face off in competition for the Golden Seashell at September’s 61^st San Sebastian Festival, the biggest movie event in the Spanish-speaking world. The festival runs September 20-28.

Their other movie "Prisoners" will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.  The Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 5-15.  And it looks like there might be a movie Jake will really want to catch while there.  Parkland,  yup Austin's movie,  will also be at the fest.

It's not the first time the guys have been to TIFF at the same time.  But maybe this time they will get seen together.

Yeah......Well...Jake could just say it was his twin. 

Action....Texas

Austin is going behind the camera in this week in his hometown to make a short film.

Could it make its debut in Texas as well?

Don't think it will make the late deadline for next year's Austin Film Festival which is Monday the 15th, unless Austin is doing one heck of a run and gun shooting schedule this weekend, but there are other homegrown options to showcase it.
