Jake's getting his Wild on TONIGHT on the Discovery Channel at 9pm EST. 
Men vs. Wild - (yup- 2 guys =plural) has Jake crossing a 120 ft gorge on a rope (equal to crossing between two 12 story buildings) 
descending 20 ft down into a snow hole, bracing storms, finding food, and sharing a cave. What else? Have to wait and see.
Despite all that snow and ice, Jake going wild is going to have a lot of people looking for a way too cool down...
May OMG suggest what Jake does - a little Grey Goose (wait is that cooling down for Jake or heating up?)
1. Orange Dream
- 3/4 ounce Grey Goose L’Orange Flavored Vodka
- 1/4 ounce Licor 43
- 4 oz. Simply orange juice
Mix together ingredients. Pour liquid into a popsicle mold and freeze overnight. Makes 6 popsicles.
2. Le Citron Lemonade Escape
- 5 raspberries
- 1 ounce Grey Goose Le Citron Flavored Vodka
- 3 3/4 ounce Simply lemonade
Muddle raspberries. Mix together ingredients. Pour liquid into a popsicle mold through a tea strainer (to strain out seeds and pulp) and freeze overnight. Makes 6 popsicles.
3. La Poire Frozen Frenchy Popsicles
- 1 ounce Grey Goose La Poire Flavored Vodka
- 3 3/4 ounces fresh pineapple puree or juice
- 1/4 ounce Monin Pure Cane Syrup.
Mix together ingredients. Pour into a popsicle mold and freeze overnight. Makes 6 popsicles.

M, I'm a huge True Blood fan. Haven't caught the latest episode yet though. I'm enjoying this season, I thought some of the stuff the past season or so was too far over the top just for the sake of being over the top, and for me that got kind of boring.
I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with this beautiful man yesterday at The Phila Gay and Lesbian Film festival.
Every year myself and a couple friends volunter to usher at the festival for a day. My new avatar's name is Benjamin Lutz. He starred in two of the movies we worked yesterday. He actually came up to the volunters and spoke to each of us. He was so nice and certainly HOT. It was very definitely the highlite of my week.
I love the United Kingdom so hard right now. Lots of love coming outa there. Need to get back over to my old pad in Kensington.

Yesterday's Spotlight was wonderful.
I would not be at all surprised if Jake trends on Twitter tonight. Good grief, he is all over my page with people tweeting who haven't even seen the show yet, they're just remembering that it's tonight and they're setting Tivo's or else just looking forward to watching it.
In next Sunday's paper, we talk to Grylls about what to expect from rest of the new season. (Hint: It includes him crying.) What follows is an excerpt of that conversation, in which the outdoorsman discusses the challenges of shepherding an A-list actor through the wild.
How did you decide to ask Jake to be on the show?
Shara, my wife, saw him on some chat show, and he was asked what it is like to be famous. He said, "It's great, and if the paparazzi get to me, I just ring up my buddy Bear Grylls." And I go, I don't even know him! So I emailed him and we started talking about going on a proper adventure. He was a fan of the show, and once we made the schedule work, we did it quite spontaneously.
I couldn’t believe that Jake decided to crawl across that rope. He was attached to you via a smaller rope tied around his waist -- if he’d fallen, would that have saved him?
That wouldn't have held him. That wasn't a safety line -- that was a helping line for him to balance. And if he ran out of puff, I could have helped him across with that. But I was pretty confident that he'd be OK. We worked out afterwards that it was the equivalent of doing 180 pull-ups.
He must have had to sign every kind of contract imaginable before coming on the show.
I always have to have kind of a weird conversation with these people's insurance guys, where they ask me, "Can you guarantee us that these actors will be safe?" And I go, "Well, no. I can't." Then there's a long pause on the other end of the telephone. But you can't predict what's going to happen in the wild -- that's what makes the show edgy. There's a significant element of unpredictability out there, and I can look after him to my utmost ability, and my ability is OK.
Do you have a lot of Hollywood types approaching you wanting to be on the show in an attempt to prove their toughness?
A few people have asked to be on it. It's nice for actors to do something where they're not covered by safety ropes and helmets. There's a thrill for them to be able to do stuff that is very real.
Overall, did you think of Jake’s performance in the wild?
You've gotta admire somebody when they step out of their comfort zone and put their life in somebody else's hands. I was very clear with him and said, 'Come on your own and trust me.' He did incredible. What I like about the wild is when you're squeezed, you see what people are made of.

66 North put out a press release about Jake wearing there gear for the show.
In a situation like this, moving slowly over a line, where snowfall broke out just as Gyllenhaal was to cross the canyon , it can be life threatening if the limbs cool down and become stiff. To protect him from the weather, Jake Gyllenhaal wore the Vatnajokull fleece bibs from 66°NORTH, made from three layers of water- and wind repelling breathing material, and with many other specialized features, like sculpted knees, watertight zippers and a storm list on the side and more, that make the trousers well suited for conditions like these.
For the critical task of lowering himself down on a line into that 20 feet deep hole at Eyjafjallajokull‘s crater, with sulfuric gasses at the bottom which Gyllenhaal said smelled like [BLEEP – erased from the video‘s sound track] – the actor wore gloves suited for that task from another manufacturer. But in the more free walking between locations, he can be spotted wearing 66°NORTH‘s Langjokull PrimaLoft gloves to keep hands and fingers warm, comfortable and nimble in the deep cold and harsh wind of the Icelandic winter. Seems like ever since I came to OMG, it's always been negative from Rendition to Prince of Persia to all the negative press from his bearding. I wasn't around here or anywhere else during the filming & release of Brokeback so I missed out on that entire period when he was the IT guy.
I would love to see the bearding and the other side dishes that go along with it be a thing of the past and a new chapter start. This would be a great beginning.

You are absolutely correct, PG. It's great to have Jake being talked about with such excitement and anticipation again. A clear example that when he follows his heart, good things come to pass.

What a lucky couple days. I was lucky enough tonight to meet Sebastion again. I was walking to see a movie with a friend at the festival and we walked by him in Philly. He remembered us and said hello. He asked us if we liked the movies and of course we said yes. I promised that I would post the name of the movies on the blog tonight when I got home.

OMG - I just finished watching, I'm as exhilarated as if I were there myself. I don't think I have ever seen Jake more beautiful since Jack Twist. His role in Brokeback Mountain was prominently mentioned as part of his body of work, with a beautiful pic of Jack Twist. The wind blowing in his hair as he boarded the helicopter showing that gorgeous hairline of his, fording the river without a shirt, he's got a great chest. He was wearing his neckchain too. And his personality is so sweet and nice, he's got a lot of warmth. I loved when they made cocoa in the snow cave. Didn't like eating worms, lol. Iceland is really quite beautiful, I liked the green moss. There's something primitive about seeing the green when you've been out in the cold and snow. Just an awesome program. Bear is wonderful. Great job, Jake!
Fun show. We got to see Jake pee down wind, take his shirt off, have a laugh over an unavoidable Brokeback joke (given Jake's perfect keister gloriously sticking up in the air)and we got to see the resourceful gourmet, sneaking in a bar of chocolate from the hotel. I think that "H" carved into the snow stands for Hubbalicious. Woof!
I think it was interesting that Jake said he went camping as a child in Northern California. I wonder if that was up in Mendocino? And, evidently he still finds time to camp even now. He must be searching for Sasquatch. LOL!

Tom, that is so cool about the Philly Film Fest and your encounters. I'll check out the trailers for those movies. And I just realized that I never got my mailing for the NY Gay Film Festival, and I've missed it because it was last month.

Jake did great tonight. Did my ears deceive me. Did he say he wrote PG on the ground with his pee? That is what the closed caption said anyway. I like to watch shows with it on sometimes, especially when there is noise going on in the kitchen. I find it more relaxing to not have to listed as carefully. I thought the BBM joke was pretty funny. The silliness that typically happens when people are working together and get tired. And it got a good laugh from Jake too. Lets hope he gets continued good press from this.
A 120 foot span? I dont know how he did it. Even in good shape, he must have been very tired. And once you start across you cant change your mind and turn around. That took real guts. Even Bear struggled with it.

M - I think the span over the gorge was 120ft high I have no idea how long it was across. It look much long than that and I'm sure that to Jake it must have seems like a mile. Still can not imagine doing it especially with a fear of heights like Jake's.
I really enjoyed it too - can't wait for when Bear goes to both New Zealand islands (that's coming up), wish Jake could join him! NZ is on my bucket list. This time, maybe they can bathe in hot spring instead of a freezing rivah! :)
