Hello, Thank you, Nice to meet you

Broadway is celebrating tonight with the Tony Awards but OMG is celebrating something even bigger than a Tony that's also Broadway related.

When OMG met Jake on Broadway.

Yes met Jake - not just going seeing Jake on Broadway in Sunday in the Park with George (which made this fan so proud of your performance) - but met you Jakey.

(Waiting Jake's team to have a moment or the vapors or a scream or scrambling like it's DEFCON 1)

Jakey we met at the stage door after a matinee.

I had seen the show the night before and your performance was moving - your love of acting and the interplay of the energy of the audience apparent - your singing top notch - you claimed your seat at the Broadway table with Sondheim!

You came out that afternoon and were kind gracious to sign autographs.

And standing right there you  never even know that Special K was in front of you asking you to sign her Playbill and thanking you in return.

The world didn't stop spinning, nothing exploded, it was just a moment between a fan and a performer they've admired for years.

Thanks Jakey

PS:  Next time we'll have to talk about all those stories from friends in the industry about you being a bit of screamer  (tsk tsk - I thought that was just at home with a certain tall Texan

My Old Kentucky? Texas? Georgia? Cali? New York? Home

It's Derby Day.   And you know that means that Mr. Southern Comfort (or Wild Turkey if you want to split hairs) is celebrating somewhere.

Austy is that you in that pink topper?

Or maybe you are just doing your best Molly Ringwald movie homage at home.   Remind us again where that is?  Oh yeah that's right.    Perhaps even for a New York minute.

Here's to getting your julep on and your pink head covered ....wait is that your pink covered head.?  ;)

Rooting for it

After another week of filming in Italy Jake and crew are taken a weekend break from filming. And from many mentions it looks like he's bucking those Italian espressos and cappuccinos by grabbing his in the Covent Garden section of London. (Now tea, that would be understandable)

But Jake will be going a bit further for dinner next month.

Jake will travel back to New York for a multi-course meal prepared by a number of New York City’s best chef for Edible Schoolyard NYC’s second annual spring benefit on Monday, April 7.  Jake is the honorary Co-Chair of  "Putting Down Roots” and on that theme The Root's Questlove, who won't be on the preschool ornaments like on The Tonight Show, will be on the turntables.

The evening’s proceeds will benefit Edible Schoolyard NYC and has Culinary Chair and Momofuku founder David Chang assembling a cast of the city’s hottest chefs to each design and prepare an intimate, open-kitchen, four-course dinner for an individual table.

Take a look at the incredible lineup of participating chefs below:

Einat Admony, Balaboosta
Michael Anthony, Gramercy Tavern
Joaquin Baca, The Brooklyn Star
Jonathan Benno, Lincoln Ristorante
Fredrik Berselius, Aska
April Bloomfield, The Spotted Pig
Danny Bowien, Mission Chinese Food
Marco Canora, Hearth
Frank Castronovo & Frank Falcinelli, Prime Meats
David Chang, Momofuku
Tom Colicchio, Craft
Joel Harrington, Red Rooster Harlem
Brooks Headley & Mark Ladner, Del Posto
Joel Hough, il Buco
Gavin Kaysen, Café Boulud
Anita Lo, Annisa
Ignacio Mattos, Estela
Joe Ogrodnek & Walker Stern, Battersby

Ruth Rogers, The River Café
, London
Justin Smillie, il Buco Alimentari e Vineria
Alex Stupak, Empellón
Rich Torrisi, Torrisi Italian Specialties
Christina Tosi, Momofuku Milk Bar

It looks like he might be having some culinary company from both London and Italy that night too.

Nearing Nepal

So here is Josh and crew in Katmandu

But where's Jake?

Still riding the rails?

There an interesting comment made on Just Jared today about Everest

Everest began production in Nepal, not Italy. They have a 2 weeks filming permission.
Currently they’re shooting scenes (involving Brolin) for Rob Hall’s expedition. Next week they’ll shoot scenes for Scott Fisher’s (Jake’s character) expedition. Then they’ll go to Northern Italy and UK.

The story is about two expeditions getting caught by the storm as they ascended.  It could be they were shoot  parts of the movie in teams for the beginning of the climb. Does that mean that Jake is swapping East Coast chills for high altitude thrills and on his way to Nepal?

He will need a few days to the altitude.  Even just walking around can wind you, and while movie goers like scenes that have actors panting for breath about scaling big things that means something totally different in this case.

On the Trail

Despite the hurt hand Jake was once again back on the campaign trail this time in New York.

While it might be "no sleep
til  in Brooklyn",  Jake's campaign hq looks like Tribeca and was seen officially popping in and out of a hotel on Friday heading out for a campaign lunch.

Keeping his hurt paw warm and protected under a cozy looking shearling jacket,

Jake was looking like his old self  hitting all the fashion marks in an impeccably tailored tweed suit.  And check out those shiny shoes!

Even Jake's hand is impeccably wrapped too.  That's a hard job especially one handed.  Talk about needing an extra pair of hands to help.

Jake was joined by Denis and Melissa again to chat  about Prisoners with S.A.G. east  while co-star Hugh Jackman  chose to continue to recoup in NYC after disclosing he had a small basel cell carcinoma removed from his nose.

It looks like the Prisoners campaign model is "early  and often".  Here's hoping Jake gets holiday time off for good behavior.

Pickin' a Pic

They say that a picture tells a story, but with pictures of Jake can make you ask questions.

Take this one from earlier this week.

This is a picture of Jake riding his bike earlier this week.

First up the weather

This has been the hottest week of year on the Eastern seaboard, and New York is part of that heat wave.   It was 93F for high that day in NYC but with the humidity the heat index felt like a 100+

Who would go for a bike ride in that heat? And why is he not sweating?

Then the time

This picture was taken between 11:30 -1:00 pm based on the shadow of the wheels of the bike and people on the sidewalk. Jake knows better than to go out and exercise midday in that kind of extreme heat and humidity.

But is the only person on the street Jake? It's noon. It's New York. The street looks wide enough for traffic in to go both directions but there is not one car. It's noon, on a weekday, in New York and not one car?!?

And New Yorkers are typically blase about celebrities, they're not gawkers.  So why is there a whole group of people stopped and looking toward the camera? New Yorkers don't stop and stare in groups, at noon, on a weekday, in New York.  They aren't looking at Jake, he has his head turned away from them.

And why is Jake looking straight into the camera rather than looking ahead to see what is ahead of him?  It's not like he's looking for traffic. Because there isn't any,  at noon, on a weekday, in New York.

And what's up with giant sun spots and streaks?

Things are lookin' a bit 'shoppy

Now what questions do you have?

A little song and dance

So Jake was pictured at LAX.

With less time in front of the paps, the pictures that come out get a closer look.

Jake looks like he got a little sun, no need for the tinted moisturizer this time

Now it's been a while being inside LAX, but why is Jake in the departures area when the papers said he arrived in  LA?

Notice  the security check point?

And the lady with her ticket out and in her hand?

Then he's at the main gate

And if Jake is living in New York now, wouldn't that mean the major of his possession would be there, including clothes, which would make him need to bring more clothes with him than just a backpackful?

But the biggest headscratcher is why would Jake be arriving in LA,  when he is going to be on the Tony Awards as a presenter this Sunday?

He will have to do at least one rehearsal for Sunday night's Superbowl of Fabulous.

Wouldn't it make more sense for him to leave LA?

But then that would mean he was in LA, and that he could have gone to Universal.....

Yup Jake is presenting at the Tony's this Sunday night and showtune lovers hearts may go aflutter.  Who doesn't love Jake in a tux!

Jake loves Broadway.  He loves Broadway musicals.

Will he be able to restrain himself from belting out a tune?

Sing out Louise!

Bizzaro, Jerry

Both Austin and Jake were out this weekend and hitting the red carpet.  Totally different kinds of events that went into the Bizzaro world, that Jake's friend Jerry Seinfeld would say is:

"Yeah, like Bizarro Superman—Superman's exact opposite, who lives in the backwards Bizarro world. Up is down; down is up. He says "Hello" when he leaves, "Goodbye" when he arrives."

Austin rolled into his Vegas with his boys to hit the fight and promote Ray Donovan and he looked every bit the A-lister he plays on the show.

The suit was perfect, none of the ill fitting too short jacket with french cuff undone to make the shirt fit those long arms.  Totally custom made and well tailored.

Hanging with TPTB at Showtime.

You've come a long way Austin.

And yes he brings out his big chunk of gold. To many it looks like bling for ring, but for those in the know it says off the market and his touch of having Jake close.

Sunday night Jake was nominated for, attended and presented the 28th annual Lucille Lortel Awards in NYC.

Now Jake hit the carpet in just a little less than his dashing red carpet perfection.

His jacket just a touch short in the sleeves looked like it was half of a suit, but his trousers definitely not part of this pair.

Slightly short on top below the waist Jake got a case of the too longs.  Causal trousers that puddled around his ankles, it looked like he grab someone else's pair instead of his.

And his shoes not the slim sleek slip ons or oxfords, are more scuffed boots. The  kind of look someone else has sported on the red carpet.   He didn't have a ring to share but maybe the look was a message to his mister, and or he needed the boot heels go with  those too long Austin trousers.

And the beard, while a little wooly, has come into it's own with a little patch of grey that looks like,  "oops you still have a little cream on your face" if you look quick.

Life playing its own dirty little joke.

Jake wasn't only nominated for an award,  he also had the chance to present one and to someone close to him.

His category to announce was Outstanding Female Performance and Jake got the joy of presenting it to his co-star Annie Funke.

Up was down, Down was Up  this weekend with Austin looking every inch  the A-lister and Jake looking like  the up and comer.
