Glory Road had it's premieres (It's Bruck, he loves to have move than one) in January 2006, and Austin was working on Deadwood.
By the end of April he had a three year holding deal with HBO and Deadwood was cancelled before the last season aired in June that year, and Milch was already working on creating JFC.
And of course we know that Milch already had Austin in mind for John.

Did you know that Jake Gyllenhaal is in Toronto? He’ll be here to work on Denis Villeneuve’s film An Enemy from May 22 to July 13, but he arrived earlier than his expected call time and has already been spotted across the city. Gyllenhaal was out eating at Hiro Sushi in the St. Lawrence Market area last night, and just the sight of him is sending girls into a frenzy (okay, so far we can count one girl, but still). There’s also a rumour that Gyllenhaal will be staying at Toronto’s Thompson Hotel. We’ll be sure to keep a lookout for him taking his morning run.

We've been watching Deadwood over the past couple of months, never really watched it when it first ran. We just finished the whole series, and Austin's episodes. I'm really sorry they never had a fourth season of that.
I hope Austin gets to do better projects in the future, fingers crossed for the Showtime project.
You can see really how big Austin's Big Blue ring is in the video from the premiere of Glory Road. Not just stone but the whole setting as well.
I had to put the picture of Austin as Morgan and as John side by side as it were. It makes me laugh, and you can see were Milch had his connection between Morgan and what he created with John.

Last night I asked Jake Gyllenhaal (apparently) if I should get my bridge pierced. He said no and that it would ostracise me. Is he right?

Talk of Austin, images of Austin, thoughts of Austin make me smile, especially when I get to see him in his surfing gear/wetsuit.
The man never fails to get my blood running and thoughts of his long time partnership with Jake make me wonder why these two don't just find the strength within themselves, to do what would make their lives so much more open. I can't imagine that they wouldn't be met with open arms, minds and hearts, by an overwhelming majority!
Such a shame that they continue to deprive themselves, their family and the rest of us of the obvious love they share.
I'll continue to just live in hope.
