The Beginning of the End

EoW got some more good mentions from Comic Con  but it didn't get the big buzz that other movies got.  Did Open Road's plan to take it Comic Con work to kick off the promotion or just get it lost in the shuffle?

At the panel Ayer shared where he got the inspiration for the story:  “My friend would talk about how if he or his partner were seriously injured on duty, the guy would whack the other guy and take care of his families. That’s what happens when guys are true partners.”

It was also found out that while Jake was fit and ready to go for the role, it was not so much for his partner.  Or as Ayer put it about Pena:   “He was fat,”

Pena , who was caring for his kid at the time, begrudgingly admitted as much, comparing his training to Chris Farley running up a steep hill.

Regardless of fit or fat they were , both (along with America and Colby) went through four months of training to really get  the life and rigors of being a cop in the inner city. It was essential to the film’s attempt at realism,  "It puts them through a common hell," said Ayer.

They screen three clips from the movie, we saw one and now get a summary of the other two.

Clip One:
It’s POV shot from the front of a police car accompanied by a voiceover. The narrator is Officer Taylor (Gyllenhaal) and he’s giving a monologue about his devotion to the law. “A thin blue line protects the prey from predator, the good from the bad. We are the police.” The car is in a high speed chase with a black vehicle in a residential area.

The police car catches up to the rogue vehicle, forcing it to crash into a yard. The driver and its passenger immediately hop out with guns blazing. At this point, we’re still watching from the point of view of an anonymous the car. There’s a quick cut and we see Taylor and Zavala standing in front of the windshield aiming their guns at the assailants. They let off several rounds killing both men. Zavala walks over to their lifeless bodies, turns them over and handcuffs them. America Ferrera‘s character (Officer Orozco) appears in frame and looks at the damage. She exclaims, “Holy shit!”

Clip Two:
Taylor and Zavala arrive on the scene of a house fire. A woman runs off her porch and screams that her two-year old daughter’s inside. Taylor immediately runs in to save her, with Zavala screaming, “No.” Cut to a scene filled with red lighting and puffs of smoke. Both men are shown crawling on the floor where they find the little girl.

Taylor grabs the child and covers her face with a blanket. Zavala tries to lead them out of the home but they’re stuck. They lose contact with one another because of the smoke. Luckily, they latch on to each other again and escape. The next thing we see is a group of firemen approaching the scene. Taylor and Zavala are on the ground shaking, sweating and struggling for breath. The firemen try to help them up, but Taylor yanks his arm and asks where were they.

Too bad Jake missed it.

Oh  Hey Austin looks like you got to fit that Eiffel Tower in.

As much as we know you are cinephile guy,  who else thinks his newest tweet isn't just about one kind of Woody?

Hot Damn! Yankees

Now for a Sox fan to say anything nice about the Yankees it's got to be something amazing.

And amazing it is.

Austin at the premiere of LOL in France last night  (Source)

Now why would a good Southern Boy be wearing a Yankees cap?

Wouldn't he do the Texas Rangers?   Or LA Dodgers?

And when has Austin ever worn a baseball cap related to MLB?

So what's the deal?

Is he saying he's a  new New Yorker? (Because calling himself a Yankee could get him in 'sum big trouble in Texas)

Or could it be that he wanted to make sure everyone knew about a special New Yorker? And maybe that fella is there with him?

Update about Comic Con:  Jake is not participating in the EoW panel at Comic Con this weekend.   Maybe he has to work.... wait... maybe he has to get back to work.

Clean up on aisle 10

Did the beans get spilled about Jake in Austin and now there's clean up on aisle 10 all over the place looks like it.

After a week of Jake not being seen. He gopher pops up for ice cream in Toronto (and Blue Jays hat - hey better than the Yankees especially during a Sox/Yankees series weekend)  and then poof disappears.

Where does gopher Jake pop again?  Austin TX and there are not one, not two but  three Texas tweets.

Why Texas. Hmmmm.....Maybe some little longhorn?

And then suddenly Austin just has to stay in Paris.   How'd that happened?  Is there some French guy standing there say... NON!!!  as Austin tries to leave?

And what does it have to do with a tweet of Jake being seen at a hotel in Paris on the 7th?

Could Texas have been the cover and he's in Paris with his big tall Texan?

And what would they do?  Maybe the Tour de France?  Or maybe their own version of it.  (Those time trials could be fun fellas)
Jake in the leader jersey. Really?

Wherever they are and whatever they are doing ... there was a whole lot of work on Aisle 10 in the past 24 hours.

What do you think?

Austin's Tour de France continues

Another question and answer

More meeting fans

And he even got photobombed!

And Austin tried to get his dance on.

Which could go head to head against Jake's Lord of the Dance

Who would win Dance Your Pants Off?

Speak of Jake - the bearded bud popped back up in Toronto and out for ice cream with his co-star and another friend.

Jake has ditched the green jeans for the camo shorts,  a variation from last year, but back to the camo.

With a bit of grin and looking a little more relaxed he looks the had some R& R this past week.  Hmmmm.

 Camo and cones

Austin du jour

Day 2 of the French Invasion and Austin is still knocking their socks off.

source

Today their fearless Crazy Tree leader Schwahn joined the guys for autographs and answering questions by the fans.

Austin will be back meeting fans tomorrow and Sunday as well.

And well damn... what else can you say to this?

source

And your Jake is a gopher moment:  Jake popped back up in Toronto to start back filming today.  Funny he's never filmed on a Friday since production started on An Enemy.

Well.. I guess after you had a week off with a big Tall Texan and some little Longhorns you do have to get back and finish up.

Red White and "Bleu"

Exactly how long does it take to get to "Pari"?

Because the way Austin was selling it , he was going to be tweet the moment he touched down.

Guess Austin just soaking up some of the sights like

The Arch de Triumph
Or maybe the Eiffel Tower ; )

Because what else is Jake doing?

Because it's another day he's not shooting Enemy and not to be seen.

French it up fellows!

Fireworks translate in any language.

 Happy Happy 4th of July!!

Stuck on deu....

Austin loses count ...

Jake is just lost.....

Austin got stuck on his countdown as he is really trying to sell his departure .....

Because twitpic from inside the sedan service.... yeah that' subtle

Was the day so nice he counted it twice?  And could long lost Jake have something to do with that two fer? And could the dearly have departed ..much much earlier?

Throne-ing Down

Two Days til Paris Comic Con. White Boys in Paris. Who's gonna watch the throne while I'm gone? -- Aus10

So Austin's using Jay-Z and Kayne refs for tweets now?

Wonder if he Watch(ed) the Throne with Jake one of the times Jake caught the show.

But then of course it's Austin and he could have  been talking

This one

Or The Game of Thrones

But be careful Austin if you running to a friendly elf name Buddy might tell you what kind of throne you've been sitting on.

Rolling up

September is coming up fast, and that means the roll up to EoW has begun.

There's a new trailer out for EoW, with a slightly different feel.

Check it out.

And just a couple of days ago we saw a tweet about seeing Jake and Michael at ComicCon and weren't sure if it was legit or not.

End Of Watch panel Hall H at 12:45 p.m 7/14 Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Peña    - Seat42F

But now it looks like it is official Jake and his co-star will be ComicCon in San Diego Saturday,  July 14th

12:45-1:45 Open Road Films: End of Watch and Silent Hill: Revelations 3D Global exclusive! Catch an early look at the highly anticipated action film End of Watch, with special guests Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena who play police officers patrolling the meanest streets of south central Los Angeles, and writer/director David Ayer (Training Day). Also, based on the groundbreaking video game franchise from Konami, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is the sequel to the hit film Silent Hill. Experience the world premiere of 3D footage from an unparalleled horror experience with special guests Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Kit Harington (HBO's Game of Thrones), director Michael J. Bassett, and producer Samuel Hadida. Hall H   (source)

Now Jake has done these before but it never hurts to brush up, now who is doing a Con  before his?

Well this trip to SD Jake will have to get out of the trailer.

And with EoW co-start Cody Horn in this weekend's opener Magic Mike they are getting in a few questions about Jake and EoW.

Fandango: We heard about a “full circle moment” with you and Jake Gyllenhaal. What was that all about?
Horn:
It was really a pleasure to work with Jake. We actually went to the same high school. Although, I didn’t cross paths with him, we missed each other by a couple of years, I had heard about him in film study classes through teachers that helped start his career. It was just great to work with him because he was like an entity that I had seen growing up and all of a sudden we’re making a movie together. (source)
Cody and America play partners, with Cody's character, a former Marine has something to prove, that she didn't get the job, because her dad is the Chief of Police.

Before you sign off on it remember there's more evidence to come....
