Still PoP n'

The Big Mouse is still getting its money's worth out of the PoPpy Dastan first with releasing the DVD on September 12th, and selling the TV rights.

Couple things that are interesting about PoP: The DVD. First is that is release date. It is just under 16 weeks from the initial release of the movie, and it sneaks into the next fiscal quarter. The maybe seeing if it's DVD sales will help give them in the 3rd quarter (They did have Toy Store 3, but then there was Sorcerer's.) The Mouse did this with Alice, rolling the DVD out during the 2Q almost as an insurance policy, in case the summer did meet expectations and projections. Rolling it out in September also helps beat the huge clutter of family DVD that will be released for holiday sales, and will also allow them to discount it to carry the sales through the 4th quarter, as well as get some of all of those toy sets sold for Christmas too. And let's be honest, they will want Toy Store 3 to be the big DVD for Christmas.

But the question is will it sell? Well as well as they want. Usually it's the extras that draw sales, but Mike Newell said that there is not that many extras on the DVD.

What about all that extra footage that gets shot? Well "Newell says he added layers upon layers into the theatrical release the film, rather than cutting footage out, because that is how a Jerry Bruckheimer film (the film’s producer) would be made."

Did they "PoP their stuff" too soon, and gave up too much tying to get the first date for people to go see the movie? (How many feaurettes where there?)

But then "Newell responded to the lack of deleted and extra footage saying, 'we always add things that are fun and interesting for you guys to look at.'"

What would extra footage would you like to see? Maybe PoP: Behind the Scenes: The Little Dutch Boy in the Desert?

Now seeing PoP on TV? That won't be on Disney Channel, and not for a while. Disney's subsidiary ABC Family Channel picked up the TV rights (US) for PoP and Sorcerer's for airing in 2012. (Now's going to be some kind of show and tell for kindergarten) What did Disney Channel grab? Toy Story 3.

And one PoP before PoP'n off.
That hard body of work showed up in a different way. Men's Health Magazine picked The Best Summer Bodies of 2010, and Jake'a PoP bod made it into the top 10. While a Vampire, A Wolfboy, and a McBongo took the top three spots, Jake came in a very respectable 8th,ahead of Daniel Craig and Channing Tatum, and right behind the New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. Well hey he is supposed to play a Jet's quarterback if everything for the Namath picture comes together.

And where is the PoP'n Prince right now? East we know. North or South? But then again East is East.; )
