What it's all about Toothy?

The latest from Ted

On the White Picket Fence
Not to further frazzle anybody’s already entirely tortured same-sex detective efforts, but got some news on Toothy Tile, the young actor who just can’t seem to make up his mind on whether or not he wants to come outta the closet. T.T. has spoken—discreetly, of course—to both Time and Newsweek about the possibility of declaring his sexuality publicly. So far, no go, as T.T. prefers to lie low and protect his private life with an increasingly domesticated home front, i.e., procreating with the b-f and all that reproductive jazz.

Jeez, and I thought it was a little much when Jon and I got Margo. I mean, Toothy’s, like, headed down total Beaver Cleaver Lane! (Only in some fashions, mind you.)

So what do you think?

Special T just sent a txt to a very good friend that I am tired of words and want some results. She responded this damn pregnacy has been longer than an elephant pregnacy!!!!!!!!!!!

If jake ever did come out Time or Newsweek wpould be better than People or Us. Much more news worthy and less bullshit.
I will believe it when I see it.

Is this the reason for the confinement this the summer?

Well, with baby Tile in tow, a coming-out in a serious publication would be more appropriate in my opinion. That would almost be like a social statement.

Still, my logical brain has trouble processing that info! LOL

frenchy said...

Shit, if they do that, I'm a fan for life if only because I would be in awe about the size of their balls! :D :D :D

Hey, Special, if you're here, I can't seem to log on to chat. Is there something wrong, or is it just me?

I would *love* it if he came out in Newsweek or Time magazine. It would indeed come across as something of a social statement, frenchy, and it would be incredibly classy, too. It also seems like the route Jake would go; I can imagine he has a lot of respect for those publications. Having said all that, it really is a lot to take in right now, what Ted is saying here is so completely explicit, it makes your mind race. Jake, Austin...the enormity of it all. But at the same time, the beauty of it, too.

I can't be bothered with Jeese or anything, it's only what greedily feeds me as a tb, haha.

By the way...hello! You're doing great work here, special, on behalf of yourself, Wicked and all tbs. I usually post anon on WFT only using this handle when it's needed, but I'll be good and name myself when I post here. It's not a name I would choose, it was more bestowed on me, but it's how I'm somewhat known, so I'll keep it. :)

(I was also the one who linked the "Smile" video the other night but I don't want to be "Smiley" ;))

Tom

This is definitely more than a "pregnant pause"

But I think this is delivering more than a baby tile. I think this delivering a whole new life in a whole new way .

Thanks for coming by!

And thanks for the most kind words.

Hey try any name you want on for size.

And I love that video!

Thanks, special. :)

I've been lurking here for a few days now but knew I would probably begin posting soon, just needed to find my "named" legs. I'll keep my name but maybe just abbreviate it - I have a feeling I might be using my, er, "skills" in the weeks to come (let's hope it's for good, not evil).

Isn't that video great? Am I crazy? When you take away all distractions and just isolate that smile, it's something else.

Oh I hope you do get a chance to use your skills. And fingers crossed for good.

It is a wonderful video. And as contagious and wonderful Jake's smile is there are two of his smiles where he beams even brighter.
Ramona,and Austin.

I wish I could feel more positive about this. If Reese hadn't been n the picture, I probably would be but she just feels like an unnecessary complication if he is planning on coming out.

Actions speak louder than words and right now, they are not pointing towards him coming out.

In my opinion, I think it is unfair for Jake's fandom to set up goals for him - both personal and professional, such as, when he should come out and when he should win an Oscar. Yes, we should always hope, but obssessing over these issues will lead to frequent disappointment. After all, fans are not privy to the thought processes going on inside Jake's mind and what kind of stimuli he is responding to, and it should remain to be so. And really, I wonder, what is the purpose of a fan blog? Are we here to measure or judge whether his actions are louder than his words? Or are we here to take a break from our own RL and enjoy whatever Jake has to offer us?
Hey, Special K can I borrow your pink glasses for a moment?

I agree, however, this is a similar pattern to the Toothy items in 2005 when Toothy first appeared on the scene and Ted was talking about how he was close to coming out or contemplating it. And yet Toothy (Jake) was being seen with Kirsten everywhere at the time--sometimes in PDAs with her. In one Ted BI, after Toothy and his bf got "arrested" by cops for having sex in a car on the Sunset Strip, Toothy got so upset by the incident, he left his bf and ran back to his gf (Kirsten) for support and to heal his wounds.

By the way, like maraschino cherries and sudden rain, these are two examples of simple pleasures of life (and keeps me happy and smiling):
1. Jake's bio is the featured article on wikipedia front page today.
2. It was announced yesterday that Rendition will be presented on Friday, Sep 7th at the TIFF.
Friday? Whoa!! There will be some drunken dudes...

I am ready to parteh and Special K is paying the bar bills.

Anonymous said...

Rattler, I'm not judging. It makes no difference to me what Jake's sexuality is nor whether he comes out of the closet, if indeed he is actually in it.

But Ted has told us that he is thinking of coming out. All I'm saying is that from where I'm sitting, it doesn't look that way.

Special K said...

I agree it is unfair to set up goals for Jake or Austin for that matter. I think there is already a line of people in HW trying set their goals already.

21 and 26/27 are miles apart on the road. The same can be true at other milestones times in our lives. I think they are trying to find their way to the next milestone.

A lot has happened in both their lives personally and professionally since meeting each other. They both have grown, growing into the their own person. And finding out who they are.

What I take from this new mention from Ted is that their relationship is continuing to grow and deepen. That there is indeed a true commitment to one another and their future together. Despite what the mainstream media is selling.

How? That is reflected in thinking about how they want to proceed in their lives. And I think Jake exploring the possibility is shown by approaching the media.

All I want is the best for them, that they can have it all. Like anyone should be able to. It is not my place to say when that happens only theirs.

Just as we can't be forced into doing something we don't want to do at the moment, we can not force them to do either. Patience is a virtue, but it is a hard lesson to learn.

I think the best thing that blogs and fans can do is be supportive of them. We like them that's why we are fans. Let them know that there are fans who support them and want them to have a something great. Let them see examples of other out and proud individuals, couples and families.

Me? Picking up the tab on the bar bill? Now I know that was never talked about.

But I want receipts Mister! Receipts!

And hey if you need to borrow the glasses you can, I have a pair of contacts I wear. : )

Now that I've slept on it, I don't think it is happening anytime soon, I think he has just flirted with the idea again and backed away. I'm just happy to read they are domesticating, and I think that makes it more likely it may happen.

Meanwhile, I am not necessarily a demanding person, but I do have certain expectations, and one of them is to be able to read a piece in the NYT about the TIFF without running across a mention of Jeese, but noooo. There it was at the end of the article, which was talking about the serious tone of this year's festival, and it ended with a mention of Jeese and how when they get up there it is all going to be about celebrity, not the movie.

There was also an article on HBO. One thing I thought was interesting is that despite all the talk of HBO not being as succesful as some other stations, JFC still had a larger audience than Showtime's "hits". Too bad that wasn't enough for them.

I just hope Jake is able to do what is best for him. As we all know "coming out" is no easy thing, and can be a difficult decision. My own circumstances did not alllow me to be completely "out"[job/career] Just so they can both be happy!

My position also. Not much time to post now so thanks for your words Ag and Destiny. ;)

Also wonder if Jeese will be considered good or bad for Rendition by the studios. We're not talking "jumping à la Cruise" here but since this is a "serious" movie, I really wonder if the main protagonists (GH among others) consider this celebrity "hookup" a welcome asset or an undesirable interference.

No publicity is bad publicity - so they say.

Anonymous said...

Exactly scylla.

This is why I'm not so sure they will be displeased by Jeese. I'm sure Jake and Reese, if they should show up as a "couple" will certainly show more class than Tomkat, lol!

Anonymous said...

I take that back.

Robowife usually looks classy. But her husband is always a tiny tad off... if you know what I mean. ;)

This is VERY interesting. It's from my favorite online "paper", The Guardian (scylla, are you still here?):

The UK has the most active internet population in Europe thanks to widely available broadband connections that are getting cheaper every year.

The boom in web use is nothing new. But what website owners such as newspapers, TV companies and travel agents have to get to grips with is a new type of surfer.

One significant trend that stands out is an apparent feminisation of the internet. "Ever since it kicked off in the early 90s the web has been male-dominated. For the first time this year women are spending more time on the internet than men," says Peter Phillips, strategy and market developments partner at Ofcom, referring to web users in the 25 to 49 age bracket. "It's a big shift and has implications for the kind of content that content providers want to have on the internet.

Among 25- to 34-year-olds, women now spend more time using the internet than men, according to the Ofcom report published today. Although men account for the majority of web time in most other age groups, women have also taken a slight but significant lead in the 35-49 bracket.

I'm posting this as well as WFT because I'm curious as to what people think or heard. Earlier this week I finally listened to Austin's podcast, and when he was talking about walking around, it sounded like he said "my city" and then changed it to New York City.

Special K said...

That is very interesting Destiny. I will have to listen again.

Maybe New York is becoming his city.

Everyone assumes domesticating means LA. has anyone thought it might be somewhere else? Why does it have to be in LA? Settling down is wherever they want to settle down.

Destiny you're such a tease! I'm going to hjulia's place tonight to watch some JFC and I'll listen to the interview again.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the link tmz!

Obviously they're still not buying Jeese... Maybe they should get some counseling from Perez.

Back to work now, one more hour to go (sigh)...

Anonymous said...

All other things aside, I've never understood the trolls/fangirls delusions that Austin could never be in NY. We saw a picture of him at that socialite party, he's mentioned going there etc. But somehow he can't be there cause he lives in LA.

Have these people never heard of a plane? How did they think Jake got there?

Interesting role for Jake! Jamie Bell (Billy Elliott) was being interviewed in today's UK Telegraph about Jake being offered Kerouac's "On The Road""

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2007/08/25/bfbell125.xml

"I don't go up for a huge amount of stuff because most of it is bad. But Walter Salles is making a movie of Jack Kerouac's On the Road and I went to meet him and do a reading. And straight away the part was offered to Jake Gyllenhaal. He's a great actor, older, more experienced but I was bummed."

Anonymous said...

"I'm just happy to read they are domesticating, and I think that makes it more likely it may happen."

Destiny: These are exactly my thoughts. And "my city" is a superb observation!

Aussiegirl: Your comment at 5:35 am totally makes sense after I read your comment at 6:59 am. You have a point. It's just that I have all the patience to wait for Toothy. So Jeese does not bother me much. I will only pay attention if Jake speaks out on this topic - and that is why I wish he was interviewed more often!

Special K: Nice to find that you agree with me :) And don't you worry, I will send you all the bar bills. And, pink contacts? you got to be kidding!

Frenchy: Are you ready for the weekend yet? *sigh* one more day to go.

TBS:

Ooooh! That's a sexy sexy find! Salles directed Motorcycle Diaries!!! And Kerouac is a great writer. Wow, just wow.

Special K said...

TBS -- too cool!

Thanks for the link and info about On the Road. That would be a great role for Jake.

I like the synergy of him doing Kerouac and Austin having done Neal Cassady.

frenchy said...

Jake as another Jack... wouldn't it be great indeed? Makes me feel like re-reading Kerouac's bio.
Thanks for the info tbs!

Rattler, the weather here is back to the high twenties so I'm definitely ready for the weekend! :)

Ok, I missed several JFC episodes this summer and I want to catch up. But I need serious help and after much thought I'm ready to expose myself to utter ridicule should the solution proved be right under my nose.

Does anybody know how to access the JFC episodes at hjulia's? I'm a bona fide member. I log in using my username and password but I just cannot find them. Can some of you lead me to that TV Holy Grail please? BTW I could contact hjulia (again) but thanks to time zones I might not get an answer before tomorrow that's why I'm taking a chance here.

Forget my cry for help above. I think I just find out what the problem is...

Does anyone know if the eps and podcasts at austinmedia are going to be sort of permanent? I'm about to upgrade my pc and am so looking forward to a major Austin fest.

Special K said...

It looks like Ang's new movie "Lust, Caution" is getting an NC-17 rating.

Focus Films says the will not edit the movie or try for an appeal for the rating.

Focus won't sweat NC-17 for 'Lust'

"Lust" follows a young Chinese woman in Japanese-occupied Shanghai during World War II who becomes the center of a plot to seduce and kill a married enemy collaborator.

I don't know if Focus is doing this for publicity or out of respect for Ang, or maybe both. But it is nice to see artists being able to share their complete vision without having it clipped to fit into a box that is dictated by others.

Anonymous said...

Great news special! I dream of a day when the NC-17 won't be the death sentence it's now perceived to be (or actually is). But hey, I also dream of a day when we'll get BBM with all the deleted scenes! :)

Scylla, I can't talk for hjulia but I noticed that the clips and previous interviews are still up so you'll probably have time to have your Austin fest.

Have a great day everybody!

HBO series actor pulled over on DUI suspicion
Friday, August 24, 2007
Jackson police arrested television actor Austin Nichols early this morning on suspicion of drunken driving and lodged him in the Jackson County Jail.

Nichols, who appeared in the HBO series "Deadwood" and stars as John in the current "John From Cincinnati," has been living at Clark Lake this summer. Extended family members live at the lake.

Lt. Aaron Kantor said a city police officer stopped Nichols' car on N. Jackson Street at Louis Glick Highway at 2:30 a.m.

the rest of the article posted above:

"The 27-year-old actor was administered a breath test at the scene and hauled to jail.

Kantor said a blood-alcohol content measurement was not available yet this morning.

According to an HBO Web site, Nichols was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and moved to Los Angeles to study acting.

Among his TV credits are "Six Feet Under" and "Pasadena." He was once ranked third in the world in competitive waterskiing, and won the Pan American championship in 1997.
