Like Brother - Like Sister

It was just announced that Viola Davis is joining Jake, Paul Dano, Hugh Jackman and Melissa Leo in Dennis Villeneuve's thriller Prisoner.

Viola's latest movie was Won't Back Down and who was her co-star?
 Maggie.

That gets you thinking how many co-stars the G brother-sister team have shared.

Here's a few:

Chris Cooper
Jake : October Sky , Jarhead
Maggie: Adaptation

Kirsten Dunst
Maggie: Mona Lisa Smile
Jake:  "Dating"

Jamie Foxx:
Jake: Jarhead
Maggie: Upcoming White House Down

Peter Sarsgaard
Maggie: Married to him
 Jake: Jarhead, Rendition

Heath Ledger:
Jake: BBM
Maggie: Batman: The Dark Knight

Michael Pena:
Maggie: World Trade (Maggie was his wife)
Jake: End of Watch (Jake was his partner)

Danny Trejo
Jake: Bubble Boy
Maggie: Sherry Baby

Meryl Streep
Maggie: Adaptation
Jake: Rendition

At this point I think the only ones Jake has left is to work with is: Will Ferrell (Stranger Than Fiction),  Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee)  or the Vibrator (Hysteria)

Lie Detector

Everyone has a least one person to call them on their sh... A person you can never pull one over on. They can take one look at you and know you're lying through your teeth. It's not always about the big stuff but also the little stuff too, like saying you're doing good when things are lousy or dinner is great, when it isn't.

Jake's got that with Maggie.

“If you have a real relationship with someone in real life they will call you out on it if you are being fake,” “I have worked with my sister in movies before and I can’t pull anything with her." “She knows when I’m faking and when I’m not. She has caught me out before — in real life too. That is all my sister does! That is her primary job in my life.”

I don't think Maggie is the only person who is that for Jake, but it's good know that she is one of them.

While there will always be a thread of competition and sibling rivalry between them, you also know that they are both there for each other in what matters most.

When Elmo meets Jakey

We've said before: "Jake can get the Muppet face pretty easily and in a chat between Elmo and Jake you're not sure who would break into giggles first."

And we've asked, "So if Austin is Burt would that make Jake Ernie?"

Now it looks like we are going to get see Jake on the most famous street on TV. Sesame Street.

Jake and Maggie are just one of the celebrities who will stop by Sesame Street to help celebrate their 40th birthday. And it make sense that they would want to join in and celebrate. They both know little people who will love to seem them with their favorite friends on Sesame Street, and Sesame Street is also close to their family. Mom, Naomi might not have worked on Sesame Street but she worked for the Childrens Television Workshop as a writer for Electric Company. Childrens Television Workshop created and produced both Sesame Street and the Electic Company.

Sesame Street is all about parody, that makes you wonder what are they going to parody about Maggie and Jake? Will it be something with Big Bird since Jake loves birds? Will it be Who are the People in Your Neighborhood? How about One of these things is not like the other?

How about some J friends?

Or maybe there is another letter to sing about instead of C

Just gotta ask will the show they're on be sponsored by the letter T?

Big Bird is catching up on his Goose between takes. Does Goose read Big Bird between his?

Cast Away

No doubt Jake and Maggie share a lot. While there is competition between them sometimes, they are each other biggest fans. They have one of the best brother sister bonds in Hollywood. They are both are there for each whenever the other needs it, ready to give a helping hand, an ear to bend, a brain to pick, a warm heart or tough love. They've also shared the screen, and you might even know that they have shared some of the same co-stars and even directors.

So who pops in your head first? Peter? Heath? But then who?

Well how about John Kraskinki - he was in Jarhead with Jake and Maggie is in the new release Away We Go with John. Which both by the way, were directed by Sam Mendes.

You think Sam is the only director they've both worked with, well besides their dad? How about Mike Newell. He directed Mona Lisa Smile with Maggie and of course Prince of Persia with Jake.

And while Maggie may not have worked directly with him in Stranger than Fiction. Dustin Hoffman has shared credits with both Gyllenhaals.

But lets look at some other co-stars that might not be so obvious. Danny Trejo. You remember him as Slim in Bubbleboy. But did you know that he co-stared in Sherry Baby with Maggie? This interviewer did when he asked Danny who he would rather kiss Jake or Maggie. (Check out around the 5 minute mark)

Maybe Danny remembered Heath saying "I got a better kiss from your brother!" after Maggie gave him a peck on the cheek as thanks for putting out her dress that caught on fire on the set of Dark Knight.

But since Father's Day is Sunday here in the U.S. , let's looks at Jake and Maggie and fathers. Well they've worked with their own dad, and Holmes Osborne played their dad. (Donnie Darko) But they've also had the same dad, well actor as their dad but in different films. Any guesses? It might surprise you.

Peter McRobbie. He played Jack's disapproving father John Twist in Brokeback Mountain. Later he took the part of Allison's father in World Trade Center. Two totally different dads but worked because you could see him as father to both.

Now there is a challenge of casting a dad (and a family - Mom and baby brother) for Jake in his new movie with Anne. " The ideal actor should be between 55 and 60 years old and it couldn’t hurt if he has gorgeous blue-green eyes with long lashes like Jake’s. But anyway, the character is a doctor who disapproves of his son’s career."

So who would you cast as the Jake's dad?
Another co-star of Maggies?
Or someone else?

And who would play his Mom?

But maybe the best casting fun would be
who would you cast as his little brother?

Ask and you shall receive! The Informers info:
Those who saw The Informer might say it was dark. Others would say it is offensive. But did you ever think it would incite threatening mail. Producer Marco Weber said he got some. (Who had time to see it and write?) But he said “ 'If you think it's dark and f***ed up, wait until you see what we cut out,' Weber said. The DVD and Blu-ray include a making-of featurette and a commentary." Check out the rest of the interview and review at Homemediamagazine.com.

Reminder: OMG's Movie Club this Friday night (5pm EST)-Saturday. The movie is Big Eden.
