No doubt Jake and Maggie share a lot. While there is competition between them sometimes, they are each other biggest fans. They have one of the best brother sister bonds in Hollywood. They are both are there for each whenever the other needs it, ready to give a helping hand, an ear to bend, a brain to pick, a warm heart or tough love. They've also shared the screen, and you might even know that they have shared some of the same co-stars and even directors.
So who pops in your head first? Peter? Heath? But then who?
Well how about John Kraskinki - he was in Jarhead with Jake and Maggie is in the new release Away We Go with John. Which both by the way, were directed by Sam Mendes.
You think Sam is the only director they've both worked with, well besides their dad? How about Mike Newell. He directed Mona Lisa Smile with Maggie and of course Prince of Persia with Jake.
And while Maggie may not have worked directly with him in Stranger than Fiction. Dustin Hoffman has shared credits with both Gyllenhaals.
But lets look at some other co-stars that might not be so obvious. Danny Trejo. You remember him as Slim in Bubbleboy. But did you know that he co-stared in Sherry Baby with Maggie? This interviewer did when he asked Danny who he would rather kiss Jake or Maggie. (Check out around the 5 minute mark)
Maybe Danny remembered Heath saying "I got a better kiss from your brother!" after Maggie gave him a peck on the cheek as thanks for putting out her dress that caught on fire on the set of Dark Knight.
But since Father's Day is Sunday here in the U.S. , let's looks at Jake and Maggie and fathers. Well they've worked with their own dad, and Holmes Osborne played their dad. (Donnie Darko) But they've also had the same dad, well actor as their dad but in different films. Any guesses? It might surprise you.
Peter McRobbie. He played Jack's disapproving father John Twist in Brokeback Mountain. Later he took the part of Allison's father in World Trade Center. Two totally different dads but worked because you could see him as father to both.
Now there is a challenge of casting a dad (and a family - Mom and baby brother) for Jake in his new movie with Anne. " The ideal actor should be between 55 and 60 years old and it couldn’t hurt if he has gorgeous blue-green eyes with long lashes like Jake’s. But anyway, the character is a doctor who disapproves of his son’s career."

me and my husband are trying to be these days. have some friends that don`t have close connections to family and are feeling down. i`m in a lucky situation myself, so my husband and i invites them, one by one in the weekends with their kids. the kids love it! we love their company, but we hope they`re not getting tired of our invitations. but, it`s their choice, and when they come, we always have a great time together.
i just see their side. when you`re down, everything feels like a job. i tend to pressure them a little because i think they need it.
i just think caring too much is a lot better than nothing, though we can be annoying sometimes.

Today is my day to work from home, so I put the TV on in the background, and flipped the channel guide a few times. Up turned Josh and Sam, a Jake movie I had never seen and just starting to boot, so I watched. Granted he was 12 or 13 at most when he made it, and it's a very small part, but the interesting thing is that most of his role was to harass his step brother for possibly being a homosexual. What a message to learn so early. By that age he would have been aware of his own attraction to males.
No surprise about Reese being a real life bitch. Besides, she has as much to hide as Jake so would shun real conversation. She can control interview questions, but not routine interaction with people.
NG - Eckhardt blues are amazing. And as my mom used to tell me dimple in the chin, the devil within. And he has one hell of divot. My favorite Eckhardt role has to in the movie Possession.

I dug out some of my patriotic cd's while preparing dinner. It was a new Hamburger Helper - Asian Beef! It's like lo mein. They also now have a beef fried rice one. They were on sale for .99 at the ol' local P-Chopper - can't turn that deal down. I know, not very exciting, huh?
ng, that's very nice of you & your other 1/2 to invite your friends over. It sounds like they enjoy your company, too. I tell you what's fun and people don't think of doing anymore and that's to play cards, board games, or dominoes. Has anyone ever played Mexican Train? Oh my goodness, that domino game is a blast. A bunch of us were really into that for awhile and played all the time. I learned how to play backgammon in college, but I can't remember now. We used to play that all the time. All the time. I still have my set, but I need to re-learn how to play.
Hey, that picture of those 4 guys dressed as women was interesting. That one on the far right does look like Jake. But there is something funny about the head - it's so big on the body.
You know, looking at those pictures of Jake, I felt like several voiced here and that was that Jake looked older than his years. There are times that he does and the scruff, the untidy hair, the dead eyes, the untidy appearance, and that hat are alot of what brings that out. Because we've seen him looking sharp & youthful as ever at other times this year. And I suppose that it would make very much sense that these past 2 years are taking a toll on him. He may be having a private life with Austin & little Co.'s, but as many outings as Reeke has done (no, not usually long ones, but still, you've got to step out the door and do it)and those more stressful ones for him, i.e. the fake "family vacay's", the Buffalo Club appearance, the Golden Globes cannot help but have some kind of impact on your inner being. I don't care if it's just "punching the clock". I don't care if it's just business. And I don't care if it's only for 1/2 hr or 45 minutes. Over a course of 2 entire years, lying, pretending, hiding, evading, acting for photo ops, and all that traveling? That stuff does not do your endorphins any good. Your stomach is going to get upset. Your blood pressure. Your body reacts inside to all of this constant kind of stress. And when you're stressed inside, even if you don't exhibit outwardly, that stuff is stewing inside of you. And if you don't get an ulcer, you may not sleep well. Not eat right all the time. May not exercise like you should. And that stress also affects your skin and hair.
I would say that in the past 1 1/2 years, Jake more often has looked solemn, downright sad, disinterested, upset, detached, irritated, etc. than he has looked joyful, content, in love, confident, sparkling, youthful, in good humor, excited about his life.
And I know that he's got this other private life, the one we don't ever get to see, the one that's shielded & protected from the public eye, the one that maybe he has been doing all this stuff for.
So, if this is the case, I've got to start wondering at this point.
I'm wondering if he & Austin are having problems. Seriously.
Because I have to wonder (even tho it is not any of my business), what is he doing out of the country, yet again? And don't get me wrong, I love seeing him with his sister & brother in law. I think it's a very profound thing that he goes to her and not either parent for an escape. And the only reason I'm wondering all this is because I'd be really curious to know if Austin & little Co. are there, too.

Jake is nowhere close to the sad wolfie he was that summer of 06 when there was a break. So I do not speculate about the status of him and Austin. Time and patience, and rose colored glasses for me.
When I saw that guy on the blog mention how Jake reacted to the sight of his camera, I wondered too if there was a little someone along that would make him jumpy. Very well could've been. Because we sure didn't get any airport pictures, did we?
And if Austin is there, I reckon he wouldn't be able to be seen. Because boy, that would really get things stirred up and probably not be good for Reeke biz. So, I suppose this could be stressful to be on a family vacay like this, visiting a sibling with her family. Yet, not be able to show your own family because 1), your real life lover couldn't be seen with you and 2), your own child certainly can't be seen.
I mean, how on earth would that feel? It'd make me feel rotten & empty, I know that much. How on earth do you enjoy this time when you have to worry about people with phone cameras, unseen paps, etc? People with Twitter accounts? Now, celebs have to worry about all these Joe Bloe's with Twitter accounts spilling heaven knows what out into cyberspace, true or not.
My big wondering is the possibility of Jaustin having trouble.If Austin is there, why does Jake look so darn lost.
If Austin isn't there, then why on earth would Jake be away from him & possibly little Co. when Austin's going to be going to N.C. in a few weeks? Why would you spend yet more time away from your real family when supposedly this is what you're doing all the bearding for?
Now all of this is just conjecture, just wild thoughts, ponderings, musings, "throwing things out there". I'm not criticizing because I don't even know what is what at this point. I'm just wondering because this guy does not look mentally, emotionally, & spiritually healthy. Again, just an observation & opinion, not to be confused with fact, criticism, or bashing.
And just because he's wearing these chains & a ring may be on one of them, even that doesn't mean that he & Austin are together. People can wear their wedding bands and still be separated or having marital troubles. Rings don't always mean all is well. They can mean that the relationship is still important to you and worth fighting for. But that at the moment, things might be pretty rough. And that just kind of makes me wonder about a trip to hang with sis & family. And looking pretty woeful.
I mean, does anyone else have doubts here? I sure do at this point. Because now I'm not even seeing evidence that he's happy when he's not even doing Reeke.
Plus, we're not hearing a word from ol' Austiepoo. What in the heck is that guy doing? Could those tongue in cheek Paris pictures have had some kind of negative effect in other ways? Because what kind of relationship is it when both individuals could be headed toward pretending to be something they are not.
And I know, I know that those pics of Austin were pretty light fare. I know that. They were.
But what if that's just the beginning? What kind of road are you headed down if both of you are going to be one-upping the other, especially if Austin becomes really more popular on OTH. I just see nothing but misery ahead.

I still think the look in the new picture from London was a little more of concern than down in the dumps. Regarding your posts last night PG, I think something is off with Jake too. I do think J&A are still together--whatever that means anymore--or they wouldn't both still be wearing the necklaces.
However, I lean toward Austin not being in Europe with Jake. If he is, I really don't think Jake would take the risk of being seen out with him somewhere. Now I know Austin isn't that well known, but there is always that chance you'd run across the one person who would know who Austin is, especially in the summer when there are a lot of tourists. And if that happened, how would he explain that? He couldn't. In that regard Jake really shot himself in the foot by not being seen regularly with Austin so that something like that wouldn't stand out. In contrst, look at Leo and Lucas, who are seen everywhere together around the world.

I know that we don't get to really see their private lifes, but between their work schedules, Jake's reeking trips and the closet, I just don't get the feeling J&A spend that much time together. Everyone's relationships and what they need is different, but I still have a hard time seeing how this doesn't take its toll after awhile.
Now I have plenty of things I do without my girlfriend, and we often take trips to visit family without the other one, although the latter is strictly a result of us having limited vacation time in the year, something that is not the case with J&A. But one of the things that I find really brings us closer together are the things we do together, especially trips together. If I had to do all of my traveling without my partner I'd look like Jake does in those pictures, which is another reason why I don't tend to think Austin is there with him. Normally he looks really happy when he is with Maggie.
And something is clearly taking a toll on Jake, and in the absence of knowing anything else about what is going on with him, it's impossible to think it's not the closet, the daily lying and hiding, not being with Austin, not having the support system you would have if you were not in the closet to deal with the other problems he may have.
I get the feeling Jake spends so much time with his family because he can't spend it with Austin. But no matter how close you are with your family, it is never going to be a substitute for your partner.
