Dishy dishing

Jake was on The Chew today with old friend Mario Batali

and cooking up the Daily Dish or more precisely a three-for Daily Dish.

Jake and Mario cooked up a triple threat of pasta and it let Jake use some of his chopping and  cooking skills but not as much as he would liked it looked like.

You can check the whole thing here.

While Jake appreciated the opportunity to talk about the play and his two charities, Edible Schoolyards and New Eyes, not sure he appreciated all the comments about his beard.  One Lincoln too many from Michael Simon.   (And besides - Austin is Lincoln - Lincoln Booth that is -- hey whatever happened to Pedestrian the movie, big guy?)

And Jake the pumpkin head?  Too easy.

Something to chew on

Alice Waters is not the only chef friend of Jake's. Jake's been a long time friend of chef Mario Batali and fan of his restaurants.

Jake was invited to a preview tasting of Mario's, Nancy Silverton, and Joseph Bastianich's restaurant Mozza before it opened in LA.

And there was some talk that Jake is an investor in Mozza too.(And Mozza isn't just a favorite of Jake's but one of Austin's as well. Pizza at the bar, anyone?)

And last fall Jake was seen shopping in Mario's then newest venture Eataly.

The question is will Jake stop by Mario's newest venture this fall?

Mario is joined by former Top Chef Carla Hall, Iron Chef Michael Symon, nutrition expert Daphne Oz, and entertaining expert Clinton Kelly for a new show called The Chew, debuting in September. Some have called it The View for food.

Now Jake has never been on The View, but Jake and his family have been guess on Mario's show Molto Mario twice. And Jake's not shy about talking about food, his love of food and cooking. He has a mission as an Ambassador for Edible Schoolyards and their mission of creating and sustaining "an organic garden and landscape that is wholly integrated into the school’s curriculum, culture, and food program." And he's shown off his cooking skills twice on TV. What a better choice than Jake joining them at table. And forget a guest for just one course(segment), Jake has enough to stay at the table from Appetizer to Dessert.

Now the question is if The Chew makes the call will Jake take the bite?

And hey he could wear his Crocs.
