Armed and Ready

New pictures of Jake leaving Ammo.

Why would Jake be having lunch alone?

Is it another case of someone in the background but this time not seen by the long arm of the lens.

Maybe he was having brunch with someone who listed Ammo as one of his favorite places. On Sunday I'll get up and go to breakfast at a nice, relaxed place on Highland called Ammo, sort of upscale American cuisine. They have this great blood-orange juice, which is my favorite drink in the whole city.

But brunch was Sunday. How could that be? That could never be. It's impossible! ; )

Was this gun show preloaded and ready to fire when needed?

Maybe Jake is doing a little movie mash up with a little watch of EoW and the misdirection of Now You See Me while he went undercover or (covers) nowhere near where people assume he is.

You never know.

Mario Batali is in Albany today lobbying for gay marriage. LOL the picture of him at the capitol with his orange crocs.

Batali

No word yet on whether we'll get a vote today in the Senate, and today is supposedly the last day of business.

George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis have split after a two-year romance.

The 50-year-old actor and Elisabetta, 32, released a joint statement on Wednesday (June 22) confirming their breakup.

“We are not together anymore. It’s very difficult and very personal, and we hope everyone can respect our privacy,” George and Elisabetta said (via People).

Whaaaa? What in the heck kind of time clock punch statement is that?

Give me a break, George. Geez o whiz, put some effort into it at least.

You know, I'm really tired of these bearding actors getting off so easy. They get left alone & protected, they get a beard, get to decline statements addressing personal life questions, and after the required amount of "time put in" for the "relationship" to be vested as "legit", they issue a lame, "please don't ask any questions about it" piece of crap like that.

I'm sorry but as far as I'm concerned, they need to be asked. They need to face the questions and if they have to, lie right into the face of the interviewer. At least go through the guilt if they can feel any.

it's very difficult and very personal

Give me a break.

I think I need to use that phrase when I make a mistake at work. "Oh please don't ask me how it happened. It's very difficult and very personal. Please respect my privacy."

Think that's going to fly? Uh no, that just isn't gonna fly. There's no hiding in the blue collar world.

I really like the pictures of Jake in the henley.

I was just reading on People.com that Glen Campbell has Alzheimer's. He's going to do a farewell tour in the fall and he & his wife made the announcement so that in case he messed up on stage, people wouldn't wonder what was wrong. Isn't that classy. That's very sad news.

Those tweets of Austin's are right over my head. I don't know who Paul Allen or Patrick Batemen are. Guess I'll have to google them.

Well, got the call tonight that my last night of dogsitting is....tonight!! Tomorrow evening I will be back at Camp PG with the reliable internet connection. Oh crap! I just remembered, I need to watch that Deadwood episode I dvr'd so I could see Austin in all his pale glory. LOLLLL!! I better get that watched tonight.

Got all my stuff to pack up. Yuck!! I hate that part.

I know who Paul Allen is, one of the founders of Microsoft, but I had to google Batemen to find out he's the lead character in American Psycho. But the whole thing is still over my head too (I haven't seen or read American Psycho, bit afraid of it).

destiny said...

Agree PG about people who cover celebs not asking hard-hitting questions, very annoying. Why have them if they're just going to parrot the pr release.

Special K said...

Both quotes are from American Psycho.

The one from Bateman is talking about business cards.

The one from Paul Allen is a line from the movie too, and the Dorsia is a restaurant in NY.

The business card Bateman is talking about is Paul Allen's.

Went and saw Bridesmaids today. I have not laugh like that at the movies in ages.

Every time I go to the movies I think about how amazing it is to go and see a movie in a theater. The whole experience of it. The way you get lost in the movie and the outside world slips away. That's the difference between going to the movies and watching at home or computer or ipad with all the distractions it's not the same.

It's the same thing reading a book vs. using a Kindle Nook or Ipad. Yes there is the convenience of technology but the experience is not the same.

FYI The Nantucket film festival opened today.

I've heard so many people say they laughed their heads off during Bridesmaids. I need to get out there and see it. Maybe over the 4th of July weekend. I could use a good laugh.

I knew George's relationship would be over in about 2 seconds because she had started to mouth off about it, was quoted talking about it in several places, and even mentioned marriage. When the beard steps over the line, things go sour quickly.

Film buff Austin must be rewatching American Psycho. I cant imagine he would remember those lines on his own.

My new coworker is now here for intensive training - his first week was at our home office. I really like him. He's cute as can be, has a great build and subtle but significant sex appeal. Must be the pheromones. Nice easy going personality an added bonus. Too bad I could be his mother. Its going to make the job more fun having him around.

Beware m those pheromones will get you. Ur coworker sounds awesome.

Jake should really lose the beard. Agreed? http://bit.lm57WtB

Jake's going to keep that beard and black ops wardrobe because that's one of the main ways he slips through the raindrops when he's out and about (and I don't just mean in Los Angeles), not wanting to be noticed. Another reason he wears the same outfits and dark glasses several days in a row. Pics can be taken on the same day and all he has to do is maybe change his shoes (the Pena and Peter jogging pics) and it looks like the photos were taken on completely different days. Then he leaves California (goes back East, Texas, Florida...wherever) and can travel for days with people thinking he's still in Los Angeles.

Jake with facial hair is just Jake with facial hair. It's not a disguise and it does not make him unrecognizable in the least.

In NY there are a lot of hipster guys walking around with beards that look vaguely like Jake. They're especially a dime a dozen in Brooklyn and downtown in the East and West Village.

It's not as easy to spot celebrities as you would think because they usually dress and carry themselves in a way that doesn't call attention to them.

Jake is a lot more recognizable with a clean face.

Special K said...

And now we have a tweet about Jake in New York today.

LOL or it could just mean he was watching the movie. But then you'd know better than me about his secret coded messages to the OMG crew.

There have been too many real sightings of bearded Jake for him to be able to use it as a disguise as implied by M&M.

Are you sure you're not reading too much into things? said...

So if I'm understanding the train of thought, Jake and Austin do everything they can to stay closeted and not let the public know they are a couple - they arrange for fake tweets, they pretend to be in different cities when they're not, Austin walks 20 feet behind Jake on the street and sits rows behind in theaters, Austin wears disguises, Jake grows a beard for the purpose of disguising himself, etc., etc., - but then Austin goes ahead and sends out hints or codes about where he really is? Why? Why would he do that? For whose benefit?

Austin tweets that stuff for shits and giggles. He knows that OMGers are watching with baited breath! SK has even tracked Austin's IP address before when he visited this site

I didn't say Jake is never recognized, but unless he's leading a bit of a hermit's life, he is clearly not seen every time he goes out. If he's in a place where people have an opportunity to study him, it's more likely.

I also think that in some cases people are mistaken or making it up to impress friends. For example, think of how many sightings we got of Jake in Whole Foods there for a while, especially during the Swifty affair. It's just not believable that Jake spends that much time in what is basically a grocery store when he is on the road. I also suspect that is a bit true of Runyon Canyon.

People often look just enough different to give you pause. Last month I was at a play with a friend, and yes, we immediately recognized Tony Shaloub, who was sitting right behind us with his wife Brooke Adams. But it took us some time of studying the guy across the aisle and one row back to realize it was Eric McCormick, and even then we weren't 100% positive until he came bounding over to say hi to Tony Shaloub after the show.

I agree that Jake and Austin are in NY together. Austin needs to be reporting back to NC soon so the pattern is not new to be relocating back East for a bit. Particularly, since Jake has to report back to LA in July. Austin is a clever guy. Hence the Bonnaroo phone "mishap" on Saturday morning and then a sighting of him in Texas that night. Now, the American Psycho New York restaurant reference from yesterday. When I first read the tweet, I thought that Jake is probably in NY now. Looks like he is.

Methodical Muser said...

Of course Jake is recognized. But, there are many occasions when he is not. There's a reason why so many celebrities grow beards when they are not working. The guys blend in and are less likely to be identified. Prior to going into the closet you never saw Jake with full beards. Now it's a common practice. As Desiny said, that "look" is a dime a dozen nowadays with the 20-30 male demographic, especially the hipster crowd.
