Very clever post, Special. Ha! I remember that pink hat, mint julep tweet from Austin last year. He sure took it down awfully fast. Wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong impression ;-)

Here's a link to an interesting article about Hollywood movies opening overseas because American audiences are just so "demanding". There's a mention about Prince of Persia too.

We may have ourselves to blame. Hollywood blockbuster budgets get bloated with special effects and A-list actors (with their A-list salaries), but domestic box office has been in a decline. Man cannot live by 3D alone, and we ungratefully angle for intangibles like plot and dialogue. Overseas cinephiles meanwhile, queue up for whatever rat-a-tat 3D adventures are thrown up on the screen. Movies, after all, habr long been America's leading cultural export, and why shouldn't studios reward the most appreciative customers with the first peek?

This is just pure speculation, but that mention of Minka Kelly supposedly having dinner the other night with Jake, after someone came on OMG and said that there was a tweet out there of Jake being in Texas, is intriguing. All of a sudden Just Jared has a post today about Minka being in NY waiting for a subway. Not exactly newsworthy, but he uses the title to promote an event she attended in Los Angeles four days ago. He then goes on to write that she had lunch at Bubby’s yesterday. There’s also been stories of Kelly hanging out at Urth Café and Joan’s on Third in Los Angeles. recently. Now, what do these three eateries have in common? How about they are all known Jake Gyllenhaal hangouts? Now, has anyone thought that it seems odd that no co-star has been announced to play Jake’s girlfriend in The Enemy? And, remember this is the same woman back on January 12th of this year that we learned had unbelievably turned down the great Jake Gyllenhaal who had asked her out on a date the previous year. Most people thought this was a peculiar story to be run because supposedly the event took place at least 4 months earlier.

Well, let’s do some exploring. How about this scenario: Minka Kelly had already been cast to co-star with Jake so PR releases a story that Jake was interested in her and wanted to take her out several months before, but she was too entangled with her undying love for Derek Jeter. And then on March 23 Ted publishes a Blind Item from out of nowhere, which he actually revealed was coming on March 21. Remember this one?:

Do we have any Blind Vice couples with happy endings? Stealth Stud-Poof and his BF? Eh. Judas Jack-Off and Dashed Dingle-Dream? Definitely not.So it was with naïve, battered hope we were all holding out for a Toothy Tile and Grey Goose's happy ending, right? Don't think we're getting it:

Because even though put-upon Grey has looked the other way during Toothy's past indiscretions this latest one's a little harder to stomach. T2 had the nerve to not exactly discreetly hole up in a fancy hotel room recently with a coworker. From one of his movies, no less.

What’s even more interesting is that Variety ran an article on March 19 indicating that Jake was in talks to do, “The Enemy.”

Let’s just say there usually are no coincidences when it comes to Jake Gyllenhaal these past 5 years. So, I don’t know about everyone else, but I’ve got my popcorn ready. I think we may know now what PR has been conjuring up, lately for their new client. It’s just a theory, but I can see WME slowly rolling out this bearding scenario with bells and whistles in the very near future.

MM you do know about Minka and Wilmer V, right?

And that Minka has about as much chance as being cast in a movie like The Enemy as Rachel Bilson?

Methodical Muser said...

Yes, I am familiar with old Wilmer and their fauxmance "down under" *wink*, and I know she is not a strong actress. I hope it's not true. But, then again we are talking about Jake who hasn't made the best decisions in the recent past.

prairiegirl said...

You know, I was just about to dismiss those two Minka Kelly tweets as some kind of fan girl's fanfic wishes.

But now that you lay it all out like that, M&M...

You cannot dismiss this. With Jake, there are no "natural romances". There are no "chance" meetings or hook ups. Everything is scripted. Everything is planned. Everything is carefully orchestrated.

And even I myself, a Gilligan's Island kind of nut, could see how odd it is that not one of Jake's co-stars has been announced for The Enemy. I mean, the thing is supposed to start filming in a couple of weeks and so is Jake playing all of the roles? Is it a one-man act or what?

Kind of reminds me of that Gilligan's Island episode where the great Harold Hecuba was the sole actor, producer, director and writer of Harold Hecuba Productions for the Hamlet musical that the castaways put on. He did it all. I was just kind of wondering if that's what Jake is going to be - Harold Hecuba.

Hope the theory is wrong, M&M - no matter how brilliant you are at seeing these things and how a puzzle comes together. But it is very interesting how the possibility solves several questions we've had lately.

prairiegirl said...

^^ That really is PG me. I was, lol, trying to get a Harold Hecuba avatar but I'm dog sitting and I'm on my Ipad only and for some reason I'm not able to save a picture to my blogger profile for some reason.

Happy Birthday Susie. You're cute. Call me when you get a little older. May 05, 2012. 3:13:54PM

A DM sent by @Aus10nichols, published on Twitter by the recipient, @unkindravens today.

So Mr. Nichols is a graduate of USC, a school of reputedly extremely intelligent individuals, and yet he has quite unthinkingly DM'd this message to, whether it's true or not, a young lady who is very possibly underaged.

One thing I learned when I looked at the HappyBirthdayAustin tumblr that @naaaaaancy put together so creatively, is that those girls published their ages next to their names. And I was surprised to see how many of these girls who tweet at Austin on a regular basis, are very young.

They range in age from 13-22 years old, with an eyeopening number underaged, from ages 13-17. I would hope that Mr. Nichols realizes the tenuous territory that he is treading by regularly DMing messages such as the one above to girls who are under legal age.

It's one thing to thank your fans, say something funny or clever. But as I have witnessed before when Mr. Nichols first started tweeting, he wasn't the sharpest knife in the Chicago Cutlery set and he didn't show the greatest discretion in his tweets.

Is he trying to appear straight by these kinds of DM's?? I don't know. Is he just trying to maintain his twitter fan base? Is he just being a nice, friendly guy? I don't know. But he's going to get himself in trouble if he keeps this up.

The question to ask yourself, Mr. Nichols is this.

Would you want a 31 year old man DMing a message such as that to your daughter when she is underaged?

Just think about that.

Another important thing he has got to realize and obviously needs to have flicked on his head in a "Snap out of it!" moment, is this.

Do not put yourself in a position where something like that can be used against you in a court of law. She posted that DM on Twitter for the whole world to see so it is now public record. It can now be used against you.

prairiegirl said...

You can take the human angle too and say don't lead these young girls on. Do rock stars, actors and other celebs ever think about the impact they have on young people, who are so impressionable? When girls are in their teens, they are very vulnerable.

Just don't lead a girl on with what seems like a harmless comment.

Well, we had mint juleps and watched the final race of the derby, then switched to nachos in honor of cinqo de mayo today. Finally got caught up with all the Jake news today too. I am anxious to hear how the reviews go. To me the plot sounds so much like Southland, which I am totally hooked on. Love that show so I'm not ready to see a 2hr compressed version with different players, Jake or no Jake.

wondering said...

That is an interesting theory about Minka and Jake, particularly when you look at the timing of those stories. I remember wondering back in January why there would be any kind of EXCLUSIVE! headline when the incident being described took place months before in the fall. If Jake was already set to do The Enemy, the whole story could have been planted to establish that Jake was "interested" in her way back when. Now that she isn't chasing after Jeter, she's available. Kelly hasn't really been associated with any work project for awhile so I could see her looking for a new contract both personally and professionally to keep herself relevant.

I looked up the source of the original article and it was tried and true, US Weekly. That's not a good sign either. All I can say is that Jake is a complete fool if he has agreed to do this whole bearding game again.

The point about no female co-star being announced yet is duly noted, as well. Something is going on.

Minka Kelly Rejected Jake Gyllenhaal!

Now here's something else that will just blow your creep-o-meter.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard and Newborn Daughter Go Shopping

Saturday was apparently errand day for the smiling Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard and, clinging close to daddy, daughter Gloria Ray, born April 19, as her parents were seen shopping for groceries in their Brooklyn neighborhood.

Not in the mix with them on this cloudy day: Gloria's older sister, Ramona, 5.

Come, everyone, come take a look. Note how Peter now has his hand on the back of the head.

Look at the huge smiles on both Maggie & Peter.

Note how they are not involving their daughter in all of this mess. #1 Daughter was not in the first photo op, she's not in this one. Why? Probably because they don't want to involve her. Because why would you not take both kids on a simple family trip like the grocery store?

Absolutely unbelievable.

prairiegirl said...

Ted's Blind Item about Toothy hooking up with a co-worker so matches up with the possibility if indeed Minka were to be the co-star in The Enemy.

There was no gender mentioned. He didn't say former co-worker or future co-worker. The blind was printed just days after Jake was touted to be in talks by Variety for The Enemy. If Minka Kelly was already inked, then yeah, she could have been deemed a co-worker.

It looks to me like Minka Kelly is a beard-for-hire.

I hope to pete this proves to be wrong. But I think it needs to be pointed out just as a possibility so that we are not caught off guard.

Sorry about the Fisher Price link for that People.com story, I don't have my handy dandy link template with me on my IPad. I'll have to transfer the file so that I'll have it on this apparatus as well.

I think this is just a really sad state of affairs that we are witnessing. Are these really the same two guys that we started following years ago? When I think about first discovering Jake and I thought it was so cool that there he was walking all the time with his mom, dad, sister and dogs. Of course that was an appealing picture.

And now...Now you begin to see how everything just is not how it always seems in some pictures that we are fed on the internet.

Right now, the Maggie & Peter People.com story is in the process of being robot tweeted like crazy, the robot tweeting's sole purpose to bury anything that could be "incriminating" or eye-catching. This is how it works.

And you see how Twitter, which is a social networking tool, has become a tool for public relation firms to be used as a manipulating medium to purposely deceive the public.

People magazine, huh? Once again, very interesting timing for this to appear after the couple has been so secretive and deceptive about this pregnancy. Doesn't this quote sound famiiar?

There's no way to prepare for the challenges, the immense joys, the surprises, the disappointments and the shocks. Your heart just rips open. It's amazing."

Seems like I've read it before. If this People spread is being presented as a new article about the new baby, why would you use an old quote, which I think was about Ramona.

There's been rumors and gossip at several sites for nearly a year now about Maggie and Peter having marital problems and how the brother in-law keyed the car of the husband. Definitely sounded like Jake and Peter.

Oh yes you are! You were duped and cheaply sold by Teddy C's BS about many babytiles and a bogus marriage and you eat it up.
Why? Who knows.
Apparently you were hungry.

Constantly looking for a failed marriage of Maggie and Peter has become your tunnel vision now since J/A have let you down with no family pics hugging with their brood of children.

You would be correct, wondering. Looks like PEOPLE put this article together so quickly, that they didn’t even bother to get a direct quote that was relevant to the new birth they were supposedly writing about. The original, exact quote is from the Orange County Register interview about Ramona way back on August 18, 2010.

Don't know why someone has such a vested interest in protecting the perceived virtue of the Gyllenhaals. Believe it or not, that kind of moral fiber has been sorely missing for many a year now, if it ever existed in the first place. Any mother who would pimp out her daughter on a cover magazine spread to lie about her closeted brother being in love with Taylor Swift is capable of anything. Just like a father who would deny their own children can't be trusted with the truth either. And, now I'm talking about you, Toothy and Goose.

wondering said...

Thanks, Methodical. Talk about disconnect. Maggie tries to hide her pregnancy from the public, including when the kid is going to be born and then she's seen everywhere arm and arm with her mother...not her husband, and a single People spread with an old quote is going to convince us that nothing strange is going on here? So wonder we pay an arm and a leg for movie tickets these days. It's for all of these minders and PR folks to cover up the messy lives of celebrities like the Gyllenhaals.

confused said...

There's been rumors and gossip at several sites for nearly a year now about Maggie and Peter having marital problems and how the brother in-law keyed the car of the husband. Definitely sounded like Jake and Peter.

I see. Thanks.

So the theory is that they faked a pregnancy or the timing of a pregnancy or used a surrogate or something to hide a failing marriage? I still don't get it. Who cares if they got divorced or are having problems? That's hardly a scandal in HW - in fact, it's pretty much the norm. I just don't see what's in it for Maggie and Peter. I hardly think moviegoers are going to refuse to go see one of their movies if they find out they're having problems or splitting up.

Hmm...well, I'm not worried, lol. And I believe I am being a critical thinker by asking questions. I totally believe that we don't see the "real" lives of celebrities from pics and tweets and magazines. I simply asked for clarification on what Maggie or Peter has to gain by faking her due date or whatever people think is going on. *shrug* I guess you think people are only "critical thinkers" so long as they don't question anything that's written here, lol.
