Far from ....where?

I spent the day watching Todd Haynes direct!! What a great filmmaker. - AUS10

Austin's tweet is giving a clue where he is, but Haynes is as elusive as Austin.

But why would Austin get a chance to watch Haynes direct? It is not likely he just showed up and hung out.

Could he have a role in Haynes' newest project.

And what could the project be?

Todd Haynes is known for his work which such movies as Velvet Goldmine, Far From Heaven, and I'm Not There and as well as the award winning mini series on HBO, Mildred Pierce.

Openly gay he is not one to shy away looking at sexuality in the context of his stories, from 70's glam rockers, to homosexuality in 1950's America, to an approach to part of playing Bob Dylan in I'm Not There that not many directors would even dare think to do.

Inventive and fearless he seems to tackle what he loves head on.

No one is quite sure what he is working on, since he phenomenal work on Mildred Pierce with HBO, but there was piece in IndieWire that might be a hint.

“There’s a property Julianne Moore brought to HBO, this book called ‘Dope,’ set in New York in the 1950s, sort of the drug underworld of New York. It’s a very interesting piece that she was interested in developing into a series and asked me to do the pilot episode and sort of launch it, which I would love to do if that was something they were still behind. So that’s sort of in the periphery of my immediate future with the company.”

With Haynes in such a good position with HBO post Mildred Pierce, this could be a go. And with Austin's ties to HBO from JFC, could it mean something for him too?

Guess it's a wait and see.

Happy Austin Friday.

There was a story in the Wall Street Journal today about the Jay-Z party; it started with a lengthy bit about Jake arriving and how the people at the door waved him over to the check-in desk because they didn't recognize him with his scruffy beard, black cap and hoodie pulled up like Donnie Darko. The girls working the check in desk recognized him and waved him on into the VIP area.

You know, I just don't know about this uber, uber, What's The Secret Password, This is the He-Man Woman-Hater's Club, didn't you know? party that Jake supposedly went to.

Why the big, over the top secretive disguise, incognito, unrecognizable, Shhhh Shhhh Shhhh, Psssst!! Over here! Over here!! Shhhh Shhhh!!! No pictures, no pictures please!! No, no.. no...I Vant To Be Alone....

Whaaaa Whaaaa....LOL.

The more these stories leak one more little tiny detail on a 12-hr rotisserie rotating basis about Jake's uber disguise, the more I'm not believing the story. No picture? No proof, that's what I say.

Shhhh...Shhhhh...Pssst!! Pssst Hey, Mr. Gylly! Psst!!! Over here!! Tiptoe, now!!

LOLLLLL. Man. I think the day is actually coming when Jake may start charging$$ us civilian people to even look at him, let alone have the audacity to dig into our Case Logic camera bag to take a picture.

**shakes piggy bank**

I don't think my eyebrows will extend high enough for the kind of eye roll this story is really starting to deserve.

Todd Haynes has never been one to repeat himself; although his films often explore similar themes, they approach those themes in different ways, creating a body of work that’s as eclectic as it is oddly cohesive. And after examining the middle-class identity crisis of “Mildred Pierce,” Haynes is foraging further into unfamiliar territory with a project about conservative politics. “I’m writing a script for a film now actually with Jon Raymond, who adapted ‘Mildred’ with me, a Portland-based fiction writer and screenwriter, and good friend,” he said recently via telephone. “I’m eager to get back into movies.”
...
Although Haynes claims to be very focused when it comes to working on each of his films, he admitted that this project was one that occupied his thoughts for some time. “I’m pretty single-minded, unlike a lot of directors who miraculously seem to be holding six projects in their hand at a given time and juggling them accordingly,” he said, laughing. “[But] the changes we saw in the Bush years, and the rise of the right over this last decade has been so profound and it has certainly affected me and many people. And I have been interested in dealing with it at some level with film, and I think this is what that sort of became after years of not knowing exactly what the angle would be and what the perspective would be.”

I for one did not like Mildred Pierce at all. bored to tears by it. Still dont know why I kept watching it except I was waiting for it to get better but it never did. That said, I like a lot of Todd's other work. They feel vey autobiographical. I can't count how many times I've watched Velvet Goldmine- mainly for Ewan. Very exciting that Austin got to work with him! He is a great director and being openly gay doest hurt.

Thanks Mike White.

Mike White is the one of co-creators, (amongst a long list of things) of Enlightened. And while Mike has the more of a public connection with Jake because of The Good Girl, Austin has his own professional connection to Mike.

Mike was the creator, writer, and executive producer of Pasadena, the series Austin was on with his favorite tweeter Dana Delaney.

Hi Sass, we are the blessed ones to have you join us when you can. It's a joy to see you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss this week. You know, people don't really lose their fight against this deplorable disease, it just bullies its way in. But what a fight all its victims put up just dealing with it on a daily basis from the very minute of diagnosis. May your friend be in peace and loving happiness now.

Can I say that the picture of Heath in that chair from I'm Not There was one of my favorites and was my desktop background at work for a long time.
