From Start to Finish

Not many times do you get the chance to take the spark that inspired you to go on to create a film from start to finish and be involved in every single process in the life of the film.

With Stroker, Austin got a chance to do just that.

Phil Stroker wakes up in a world of cubicles and florescent lights. His co-workers shout at him for being too slow. He can no longer connect to his wife in a meaningful way. No one treats him with any respect. One day after work, Phil walks into the water and swims home. For the first time in his life, he finds something that he is good at. And as he explores deeper and deeper into this new world, Phil may find out that the world he has been living in, for so long, is not his rightful place.

It seems like the creative writer is speaking from experience and it's not about the water theme.

Now it's time to show it off and see the metaphor on screen.

My film STROKER, which I wrote and directed, premieres at the HollyShorts Film Festival on August 20 at noon. I hope you like it. - AUS10

Accessory and Accessorize

Austin found his Southern accent and all the accessories in his drawer to play the Boss in We Can't Help You.

The man loves a big watch

There's Big Gold that he got over the holidays one year and sported on OTH's big Julian's Film Festival arch.

Now who else does the gold band pinky ring?

And a big jangle on a chain?

And we know that with many of these kinds of projects, the actors provide their own wardrobe, and since Austin's such a big fan of accessories and has worn some of these before, no doubt they're all his.

As one of those famous Steel Magnolias said... "The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize."

You can check out the whole film here:  We Can't Help You  or NoBudge.com

And it's not the only film of Austin's this summer.  Stroker has its premiere next month at The 10th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival on Wednesday August 20th at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

The HollyShorts Film Festival (HSFF) is an annual film festival showcasing the best and brightest short films from around the globe. HollyShorts is devoted to the advancement filmmakers through screenings, Q&A sessions and networking events.

The HollyShorts Film Festival showcases the top short films produced 30-minutes or less.

Up, Up and Away?

Looks like Austin's up to something new

Location Scout. What ya think? - AUS10

Looks like he's putting his director hat back on.

And Jake's up ....a weight class

Originally Southpaw was the story that "chronicles the rise of a lefty welterweight all the way to a championship title as he battles various tragedies in his personal life, and wins back the love of his daughter," but in the recent article from the Pittsburgh Gazette, Billy Hope is a junior middleweight - which lets Jake fall in that 148-154 lb range instead of the welterweight's 141-147.

And the Away?

With this weekend and an upcoming anniversary it will be a full on roll out of  "Here I am and I'm not there" - to keep the current faux fallacy going ...but you know how that goes

Action....Texas

Austin is going behind the camera in this week in his hometown to make a short film.

Could it make its debut in Texas as well?

Don't think it will make the late deadline for next year's Austin Film Festival which is Monday the 15th, unless Austin is doing one heck of a run and gun shooting schedule this weekend, but there are other homegrown options to showcase it.

Texas grown,  Texas made,  Texas Proud.

Second City - Second Series to Direct?

First Austin tweets this:

Back to work. Hello Chicago!! - AUS10

Then he tweets this:

I have been working with one of my heroes. What an actor! William Forsythe. - AUS10

And with a little bit of sleuthing (tip of the hat to Prairie Girl) it looks that Austin is working on the Fox TV series,  Mob Doctor.

Mob Doctor follows Grace Devlin (Jordana Spiro), a surgical resident, who juggles her hospital duties with protecting her brother from the Mob. Grace works off her debt by helping anyone they demand.  Will Forsythe plays Constantine Alexander, returned old school leader of the mob, and the uncle of Grace from her mom's side.

Mob Doctor has beaten the odds and the critics for now and hung on for the season, after being predicted as one of the first new series to be cancelled.

But the question is,  is Austin directing an episode or acting in it? A show like Mob Doctor can give young directors a chance to get some more experience under their belt.

Austy also tweeted a sweet beauty shot.  ( Of Chicago or him ? Because both look great)

Makes you wonder if he was scouting locations for shots.

Direct Your Attention

One more time in the director's chair for Austin. After getting pics of him directing back in the fall, now we get to the see the product of all his hard work. This time he's got one of the biggest episodes of the season, with the return of Lucas to Tree Hill.

But it's not all about Lucas. Nathan might be stuck in a warehouse but that doesn't mean he got shelved.

Check out Austin, Chad, Joy and Shantel talk about the episode and Season 9. (Watch all the way to end - isn't that what Austin's doing now?)

Yesterday Austin tweeted how proud he is of the episode:

The episode I directed will be on tomorrow night. I would be honored if you tuned in. I'm very proud of it. - AUS10
As well as he should. Schwahny and Davola were impressed with what Austin did with his directorial debut and had nothing but good things to say as does his fellow castmates.

Check out what they say about Austin directing and Austin in action directing for season 8 starting at the 5:30 mark here and finishing up in the first fifty seconds of the follow up video.

Tonight on the Crazy Tree. Real Housewife of Tree Haley seeks help from Long Gone but not forgotten Lucas as Nathan makes an attempt to escape from the guys with ridiculous accents. BrookeDavis comes face-to-face with an X. (Wait is The Crazy Tree, or just another day on the set for Sophia?) JustJulian not just a director but a detective and uncovers evidence that helps BiggestBadDadEver Dan in his search for Nathan, while FeatsofClay makes a connection with another patient.
More to come from the big guy!
