Remember how it seemed that Austin flew out earlier than well....the great recycler.
Remember the sardines and his menopause moment?

Well it looks like our favorite Texan was in MI not just for an appearance at a wedding with the official plus one, but took the opportunity to have headed up for a few days of family fun.
"A Titan Sports Blog investigation took place and it was determined that the photo was taken on July 2, not by TMZ on Rodeo Drive, but at a family get-together in Michigan where Nichols is from. Nichols is the first cousin of the Dever triplets, student-athletes at Westminster who were the subject of a feature story a few months ago. We then contacted two of the Dever siblings and found that the hoodie that Austin is wearing belonged to Patrick Dever and it was a gift. Tyler Dever also revealed that he was cold that day." - Westminster
Funny how he was the only talking about flying on the 30th. Unlike the great flying text heading to NC and shoulder rub. And then that phone being lost and suddenly being found after the wedding.
Just another thing J&A have in common. Family in PA. And Westminster is just a little over an hour from Pittsburgh. Wonder if they saw a Sasquatch in the area last fall too. I mean who would go and see their cousins, and hey and why not check out Pittsburgh too.
All things connect.

Still PoP n'
The Big Mouse is still getting its money's worth out of the PoPpy Dastan first with releasing the DVD on September 12th, and selling the TV rights.
Couple things that are interesting about PoP: The DVD. First is that is release date. It is just under 16 weeks from the initial release of the movie, and it sneaks into the next fiscal quarter. The maybe seeing if it's DVD sales will help give them in the 3rd quarter (They did have Toy Store 3, but then there was Sorcerer's.) The Mouse did this with Alice, rolling the DVD out during the 2Q almost as an insurance policy, in case the summer did meet expectations and projections. Rolling it out in September also helps beat the huge clutter of family DVD that will be released for holiday sales, and will also allow them to discount it to carry the sales through the 4th quarter, as well as get some of all of those toy sets sold for Christmas too. And let's be honest, they will want Toy Store 3 to be the big DVD for Christmas.
But the question is will it sell? Well as well as they want. Usually it's the extras that draw sales, but Mike Newell said that there is not that many extras on the DVD.
What about all that extra footage that gets shot? Well "Newell says he added layers upon layers into the theatrical release the film, rather than cutting footage out, because that is how a Jerry Bruckheimer film (the film’s producer) would be made."
Did they "PoP their stuff" too soon, and gave up too much tying to get the first date for people to go see the movie? (How many feaurettes where there?)
But then "Newell responded to the lack of deleted and extra footage saying, 'we always add things that are fun and interesting for you guys to look at.'"
What would extra footage would you like to see? Maybe PoP: Behind the Scenes: The Little Dutch Boy in the Desert?
Now seeing PoP on TV? That won't be on Disney Channel, and not for a while. Disney's subsidiary ABC Family Channel picked up the TV rights (US) for PoP and Sorcerer's for airing in 2012. (Now's going to be some kind of show and tell for kindergarten) What did Disney Channel grab? Toy Story 3.
And one PoP before PoP'n off. That hard body of work showed up in a different way. Men's Health Magazine picked The Best Summer Bodies of 2010, and Jake'a PoP bod made it into the top 10. While a Vampire, A Wolfboy, and a McBongo took the top three spots, Jake came in a very respectable 8th,ahead of Daniel Craig and Channing Tatum, and right behind the New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. Well hey he is supposed to play a Jet's quarterback if everything for the Namath picture comes together.
And where is the PoP'n Prince right now? East we know. North or South? But then again East is East.; )

Whale of a Tale
In Boston last week you could have gotten a lobster tail three different ways.
You're familiar with this kind of lobster tail.
Some may know of this lobster tail, which is an Americanize version of sfogliatelle.
And then there was lobster TALE.
"Hollywood hunk Jake Gyllenhaal picking up some lobsters and checking out the lobster salesladies at the West Tisbury Farmers’ Market . . ." Inside Track Friday July 16
Well let's think.
After two weeks of being on the island and not one peep, the Boston gossip columnists have THREE mentions of Jake in FIVE days? Mon, Tues and Friday.
Again the very same week Austin comes back east.
One thing to know about the Track Girls they are not on the island, they are in Boston, and rely on contacts and calls to give them the news from MV.
What made the phones buzz so much in one week. And checking out the lobster ladies?
Pleeease...
Austin may be the Man of Mystery, but Jake is becoming the Master of Misdirection.
May not being seeing him but there's more Jakey :
Jake might want to send Leo a Muffin Basket. Inception trouncing Sorcerer's Apprentice has shifted the focus from star to producer and is more about Bruck missing the mark again with another movie. Apprentice was a designed to be a a franchise as well, it won't even come close to making as much as PoP. The whispers are beginning "No producer can have four flops and have there be no repercussions," one Disney insider mused. and The Hollywood Reporter is asking has he lost his touch (both on the big screen and TV). It's all about Bruck now, and with growing buzz for Love and Other Drugs, Jake may squeek by this with minimal damage.

Speaking of LOaD. There is now music to go along with the story, a song titled “Ready to Try”. Will we see a trailer by the end of summer for the Nov 24th movie?
It is also getting more and more mention for the short list for Best Picture nominee and Zwick for the Best Director along with Anne for Best Actress in the Oscar race. That's not a slight on Jake's performance, but the Best Actor's race is extremely strong this year.
And can't forget Source Code:

After getting a good response from a rough cut, Duncan is finishing the editing.
@glennw yes. Just finishing the edit.it's called Source Code, and Jake Gyllenhall is in it! Should be fun! about 24 hours ago
One thing Jake might want to make sure is that Duncan spells his name right on the credits.
And a little more FYI or is that TMI.
Jake's hair smells great.
And Jake might not have a Facebook page but apparently a particular part of him does. ; )

Out Spotlight
Today's Out Spotlight is an American feminist author, cartoonist and artist. Her works include comics, illustrations, graphic novels and fine art. She is best known for the character Hothead Paisan, Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist.
Today's Out Spotlight is Diane DiMassa
Born in New Haven CT in 1959, Diane DiMassa grew up in West Haven, Connecticut as a self taught artist claiming she got her artistic abilities from her mother. After high school she was accepted to Paier College of Art in Hamden, CT. Not completing her program she left after six months. Later wanting to go back to school for formal art training, she " submitted a drawing of herself with a wooden arm (which she does not have) for a self-portrait" along with some other drawings at Cooper Union in NYC. She was not accepted into the program. She did however take classes years in painting, life drawing, and sculpture all over the country, over the years and received a 2 year degree in visual communications. DiMassa also worked as a tattoo artist and for a few years was as an assistant at a theater scenery studio.
As part recovery from drug and alcohol addiction she began drawing in her journal 'as a form of therapy to vent and deal with her anger issues. "Hothead Paisan is a character who uses guns, grenades, guillotines and just about anything else that can be used as a weapon to avenge wrongs against women."
DiMassa never intended to publish her journal sketches of Hothead, but her then partner, Stacey Sheehan, suggested that DiMassa market HotHead in the form of a comic-zine.Hothead Paisan: Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist ' in 1991 was initially published by newly created Giant Ass Publishing that they formed together, four times a year. The first issue, was a mini-comic, twelve pages long and elicited a roaring response, giving rise to the ongoing series, and soon after, a line of merchandise called "Groovy Crapola". It was part of an underground 'zine explosion in the early 1990s, and quickly gained a loyal cult following. It was an instant best-seller and consistently sold out.
Hothead's brand of vigilante justice allows women to find strength, humor, and solace in the outrageous acts of a cartoon figure. In the comic-zine, Hothead begins as an ordinary, well-adjusted lesbian who explodes into rage one day while watching television. She decides to take the law into her own hands and act out her revenge fantasies against a heterosexist and patriarchal culture.
As an underground cartoon character, Hothead attracted an audience of lesbians, bisexuals, and straight women throughout North America, Australia, and England, as well as a full spectrum of gender, orientation, race and class of readers. Some call her the woman's answer to Robert Crumb.
"Hothead Paisan is rage therapy for the marginalized and disaffected, the fed up,and anyone sickened by society's ills." it features the eponymous title character wreaking violent vengeance on male oppressors. Recurring characters include Hothead's cat Chicken, best friend Roz, a talking lamp, and transgender love interest Daphne.
"Hothead has no filter and reacts viscerally and violently to the injustices of the world. Her acting out of the fantasies that "normal" people have but would never act on holds her appeal; she does it for us unapologetically and uproariously." Chicken brings the more spiritual, wise (and wise-cracking) element. BFF Hot Roz is an older psychic blind woman who is a pacifist and almost endlessly patient with Hothead. Lamp, is Hothead's own guiding light.
DiMassa's graphic depiction of violence (in one issue Hothead pulls a rapist's spine out of his ass) is often criticized as obscene. One issue was seized at the Canadian border and labeled "hate literature" by Canada Customs.
The series was published from 1991–1996; and has been collected into the anthology called The Complete Hothead Paisan, containing all 21 issues.
In response to the cult status of Hothead Paisan, candy manufacturer True Confections asked DiMassa to design a line of Hothead candy bars. Hothead's Homicical Lesbian Terrorist Booster Bar and The Femme Dyke Bitch Bar are bestsellers.
As an illustrator, DiMassa has worked on the Pussycat Fever chapbook by the late Kathy Acker, along with Freddie Baer; the My Gender Workbook by Kate Bornstein; and Sexing the Body by Anne-Fausto Sterling in addition to Jokes and the Unconscious, a graphic novel written by poet and writer Daphne Gottlieb.
She also contributed to Live Through This, which is a collection of prose and art by women describing the role that art has played in dealing with issues such as addiction. In recent years DiMassa has focused mainly on oil painting and street art pieces often based on her characters Hothead Paisan and Chicken. Finding a connection to abstract art in 2007, her work has received great reception by critics and an almost immediate draw of collectors. While the emphasis on the abstract, she enjoys working in many styles and mediums, from collage to portraits
Her illustrations and artwork have been featured in group and solo shows across North America. Recent shows have included "Picturing the Modern Amazon" at the New Museum of Contemporary Art (SoHo, March 30-July 2, 2000); "Fashion Magazine" at the See Gallery (Springfield, Mass., February-March, 1998); "Hothead Rising" at the Rising Cafe (Brooklyn, May 1997); and "Hothead L. Terrorist and Friends" at the SAW Contemporary Arts Centre (Ottawa, Canada, January 10-February 22, 1997).
DiMassa is also regularly invited to give guest lectures at colleges and art institutes across North America. She currently lives and works in Connecticut.
And I will get to continue being sand in the cracks of the people who ruin everything. Without you there is no me. Without each other, there is depression. Let's get through this. Hothead Paisan; comics for the fed-up. From me to you, as always, straight from the aorta.-Diane DiMassa

School Ties
Austin might wear a film festival on his shirt but Jake's been a poster boy for one.In 2004, Jake's('98) alma mater Harvard-Westlake had is it first film festival, showcasing the talent of young Californian filmmakers. And who was the guest speaker and poster boy? You got it. Complete with his 7th grade ID picture.
Seven years later HWFF is recognized as a premium showcase for young California filmmakers. The short films (under 10 minutes in length) submitted by 9th-12th grade students come from all over Southern California. This is not your average high school festival, by a long shot. What once was festival showing films in the school's auditorium it has now grown to including Academy Award nominees and winners as guest speakers and panelists and has to moved to the renowned Cinerama Dome at the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood.Founded by then senior video art student Elizabeth Yale in 2004, it first showcased 13 films high school students from throughout the Los Angeles area. The next three years, it grew showcasing more student student films and included guest speakers Brett Ratner, Jamie Lee Curtis '76 and Jason Reitman '95. In 2008, the festival moved its venue to the ArcLight Cinemas, and had director Paul Thomas Anderson as it's guest speaker. And in 2009, with Academy Award winner Tom Hanks as its speaker, it moved into the Arclight's Cinerama Dome where is continues.
This past year’s guest speaker was Academy Award winning director "Kathryn Bigelow (director, The Hurt Locker) in a conversation with Jason Reitman ’95 (director, Up in the Air). "
And it is not just the speakers who are well known in Hollywood. Some past judges have included actors Peter Gallagher, Kevin Costner and Alfre Woodard; director Lawrence Kasdan; and producers Lucy Fisher, Doug Wick and Marc Platt.
