How is everyone? Niece & neph are being shipped back to whence they came as I write via the g-parents. Love the lil rugrats, but after 10 days of it, it only reinforces my feeling that I was never meant to be a mom, lol!

Sitemeter Crashing Web Sites Using Internet Explorer

We apologize if you’ve been trying to visit the site this evening (1-Aug-08) and it’s been down.
The SiteMeter (www.sitemeter.com) tracking code that counts visitors to our site was causing all visits from Internet Explorer to crash. We first realized the issue at 8:30pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), and given there was no other reporting of the error at the time, we believe we were the first to find it.
After further investigation, we discovered that SiteMeter is bringing down every site where its counter code is loaded when the visiting browser is Internet Explorer versions 6.0 and 7.0. The error may also affect Internet Explorer 5.5.
Tens of thousands of publishers use sitemeter to track their content, including thousands of bloggers. The result: sitemeter takes down the internet? not quite.. but its pretty amazing.
The text of the error received is: “Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site.”
For further status, visit www.sitemeter.com in internet explorer. If it works, they’ve probably got it fixed. If you are working from a machine without IE, you can use netrenderer to test the site.

I have a slight preference for Saturday, but any day is okay with me since I can get on during the day. Or if people are really split on this, maybe you could do it on a Friday and carry the post over to Saturday?

PG, you really do need to get Netflix. If you get the one movie at a time plan, you could get as many movies over a course of a month as you pay for just one movie at BB. And at least in NY when I return a movie I get the next one in two days. Oh, and you can keep them as long as you want (I've now had Full Count for several months, still haven't found the time to watch it).
if you google sitemeter+crash+internet explorer you'll find this problem is massive. I found out about it when a friend sent me a link to another blogger page and I was unable to load it, I thought it was my computer, and tried to fix it! No avail! I did something unusual: downloaded the html page to my HD (save as) and opened it using Microsoft Word. This way I was able to read that page and get links to other files I wanted to download. But now I see it was Sitemeter. I realized later when I came to OMG and got the exact same error message!!! Sitemeter is not fixing it yet!
That is definitely an adoring look Ed is giving Chase. Damn Chase is beautiful.
Got to tell everyone that NPH is one of the favorites to win the Emmy for supporting actor in a comedy series. I sure am hoping.

I would prefer the JFC discussion to be on a weeknight only because the weekends are really busy for me - friday night would be good.
As far as the movie club goes TWF would be ok. I also would like to see The Sum of Us. The Dying Gaul looks like it would be good too.

Re Sitemeter- it's amazing what one little technical glitch can do, isn't it? Thanks for the further info, Marie. We will be keeping Sitemeter off OMG until the problem is fixed.

PG, for the love of god man, GET NETFLIX! I returned a movie on Monday and got a new one on Wednesday. Right now we are watching all the episodes of Torchwood that are out on DVD. 3 seasons' worth. Fun!
Some witness-type saw Ed at Lit in NYC on Wednesday night with his tongue down some random chick's throat. The witness said, "When the two left together, Ed was leading her by the hand. He was moving quick, but he had time to wink at a hot brunette before slipping out."

Hey everybody! Don't know how the whether is on the other side of the border but over here it's been cloudy and raining for the whole months of June and July. Even now as I'm writing the sky is still crying all over the neighborhood (sigh).
So many things to write about so please bear with me and my very long mishmash kind of post.
About today's post: I keep getting confused about Chace Crawford's BF. Wasn't it that Chavez (sp?) former boy-band guy? Or is it really that guy from Gossip Girl?

I don't know if this is what Destiny means but keeping the same post up for two days might be a good idea. Saturday is best for me of course, but I know people are often out and about on Saturday, particularly during summer.
Again, I love all the above movie suggestions. Notwithstanding its mixed reviews, I think The Dying Gaul would generate a very interesting discussion because of the issues it tackles.
Another movie about movies would be Ed Wood, a little gem starring Johnny Depp.
Clarity, I saw that you suggested The Sum of Us. That's a beautiful heart-warming movie. :)
And whether it's chosen or not, I will watch TWF just out of curiosity.
About the Olympics: Yesterday evening my brother told me he heard on the news that Chinese restaurant owners were required by the authorities to sign a secret agreement in which they agreed to bar Black people from their places. The official reason: to keep a lid on drug use and prostitution!!! Can somebody tell me if this is some kind of urban legend or if this is really happening?
Like some of you I think China should never have gotten the Games in the first place. Right now they're still unable to bring pollution to acceptable levels, even after closing down dozens of plants & factories and drastically cutting down on the number of cars in the streets.
Special, I read the article about publicists you linked in the other thread. What intrigues me is that Borkowksi claims that publicists know exactly what the public wants. Since HW has always been backward and lagging behind on the social front, I can't help but find his statement arrogant and disingenuous. For example I wonder if those endless Reeke covers are really the hot best-sellers publishers and publicits want us to believe.
About Heather Matarrazzo and her GF: When I read about the proposal, I was childishly proud that OMG had already had a Spotlight on these two. :D
About the postponing of PoP: I don't know what's going on but it feels like the last time I read about Jake the Actor was a couple of hundred light years ago. To me, that frantic tabloid courting has terribly cheapened the Gyllenhaal "product". But there's still enough of the fan left in me to look forward to Brothers and even Nailed, to the day when the medias will finally talk about him as a working man and to that very short period of time when he will cease being the tabloid whore and spineless puppy sidekick he's become.

The only time I got to see it was when I dogsat & other people had BBC. But now it seems all the reaming cable companies have taken it off their basic tiers and I can't even see it there.

Seems I've heard of Torch Song Trilogy but not sure which one that is. You know a kind of tragic one is Tea & Sympathy. Last year, Turner Classic Movie channel had a month of movies with gay/lesbian themes and that was one of them. It was a B/W one.

btw eastcoastfan did you see the pic before or after the gawk? Jake has his sunglasses off, like he's checking them or cleaning them, looking the other way. But I can imagine what happened, I can see him taking them off, making sure they're ok and then take a sweeping glance at the guy again [checking him out in natural light] while he's casually putting his sunglasses back on. It's a classic move!
There was photo caption of the Jake pic staring at the guy in DCForum where Reese asks "What do you see in him that you don't see in me?" and Jake says "My dick!"

This will explode on Monday. One good thing is that they will be forced to deny or confirm this. It is probably just Reese trying to outdo Ryan since there are rumors that he and Abbie are getting married. I can see Reese desperate enough to get to the altar before Ryan. She is crazy. Lets see if Jake will go along. The guy is in Morrocco. I wonder if he knows he is getting married.

Jake can still be gay and marry Reese. I've thought for a while now that there is a good chance that he will marry her, and I've said it here. Now that this rumor has come out, maybe his and/or her PR will finally have to comment about their relationship, like Tom said. It will be interesting to see what they say.

I don't even know if they will say anything about the rumors. Because these are still coming from unnamed sources. They don't need to confirm or deny anything. Look at all the rumors about Vince Vaughn and Jen Aniston getting married, they never said it was all unnamed sources, they never said anything to confirm or deny anything.
What is most telling is that so much of this is ramped up while Jake is out of the country. He needs to concentrate on the largest movie he has ever made and they are taking advantage of him having such limited attention to anything else.
Don't know if this wedding rumor is true. Might be a reaction to rumors about Ryan & Abbie. Reese sure bears an enormous and immature grudge against her exes (even mentioning them in her Oscar speech!) and Ryan Philippe seems to be the target of a real publicity vendetta.
On the other hand, she's actively courting the conservative crowd so obviously she cannot go on ahem "living in sin" for a very long time. So either she dumps Jake because he "doesn't give her the love she deserves" or she marries her favorite sidekick and future ex-husband.
Since he's already house-trained, the wedding should be a mere formality.

I think the interesting thing will be seeing what happens Monday. If this rumor has legs it willed be picked up by blogs like D Listed, TMZ and Perez. If that happens you would think someone from PR would say something but who knows maybe not.
Sure is funny that Jake is so far away and how these rumors are coming from people Jake is telling on the set of PoP and winding up in some London internet gossip site.
Interesting also is how big things seem to happen after Ted has had something pretty interesting to say. I wonder if Ted knows something is up when he writes something big or reeke inc. react to Ted. Seems like a little cat and mouse game is going on.

lets see. 3 weeks ago jake moved into her house with the rules, then they were living together in london. this week she went all over town in la alone but it was reported that he waited for her while she was at a meeting. he hasn't been seen or papped tho. the marriage rumor was around saying atticus was the ring bearer. then 2 days ago the story was they would have children before marriage. today they are supposed to get married in 4 months after pop finishes. will pop even finish in december?
I agree that jake can get married and be gay. twicked can get married too. i wouldn't be surprised if reeke get married for convenience. it would be sad tho if that's the case.

Excellent one, trilobyte. Wow, come home tonight and find that despite zilch-o Reeke validated sightings, they've got the 2 definitely getting hitched. You're right, Tom, will be interesting to see if other blogs pick up this story. Why would it come out first on a blog overseas? Wouldn't you think People or US mag (official sponsors of Reeke) would've had this exclusive story? They've been spinning this tale of Jake asking her repeatedly to marry him since this past fall. And looking back, there've been marriage rumors since January. I still can't imagine carrying it that far. I mean, you really are involving the kids at that point. Bad enough with the 2 family vacations but a fauxmarriage? That'd be really over the top. Will just have to wait & see.
You know? I really wonder what it'd be like to be Austin and see this garbo constantly. I agree PG. Even if you're not jealous in the typical, you've got my man sort of way, it has to hurt to not be able to be out and about with Jake. And even if they can manage to avoid the paps, they can't avoid having people write sightings about them, which we never get anymore. That can only mean that they're avoiding going out together in public. And for someone to be getting all this attention for a fake relationship, when you can't even have yours acknowledged, there is no way that doesn't hurt. I think J&A got into this thinking it wouldn't be that bad, but I'm sure the reality is a nightmare.
Eventually something has to give if this keeps up. Hopefully it will be coming out, not breaking up or turning to alcohol and drugs.

Drstiny I agree if Jake and Austin still are a couple it would take two guys with their heads securely screwed on to get through this. They both realise this is Jake's time. His career is about to swim or sink. With his upcoming projects he is about to become a A lister forever or an also ran. Like Jake said at this particular point in my cateer I am available for the ladies. Meaning at this particular point in my life I have to play it straight. It will take a very strong relationship and a lot of love for each other to get through this if indeed they are still together.

Exactly. These little signs of Jake not being himself, i.e. the dark, rumpled clothing (or is that just the fashion these days? Am I that out of it?), the unkept, sometimes unclean looking hair, the lost looking eyes, the self-imposed isolation, and often seen frowning, sullen look. These are signs of someone who is under stress and/or is suffering from some degree of depression. Despite the Reeke part of it that is irritating the heck out of me, I do worry.
Off to some soul cleansing! TTFN
