Don't know what it is but there is something about Jake for several of his leading ladies. There some kind of magic something there. Clearly theses ladies love their Jake.
An interview that begins in the ladies room of Man Ray restaurant in NYC actually talks about working with these three leading ladies. Older, successful and smitten by our guy Jake, Susan Sarandon, Catherine Keener and Jen Anniston.
When Susan got her star on the Walk of Fame, Jake was there to help celebrate with her and her family. He looks like a part of the family.
Catherine talked about Jake's natural charm in the extras for Lovely and Amazing, and how he was the main man in the female dominated film, and you can tell he won them all over and not just her. Catherine and Jake's connection on screen was completely believable in terms of their feelings in what is now popularly called a cougar and her much younger man.
Catherine got the chance to work with Jake again in Nailed, maybe one day we get to chance to see their second project and if that wink is still there.
And then there's Catherine's friend Jen, who refers to herself as his Mrs. Robinson. Just like with the others, there is a honest affection and love for each other, but there is something different with Jen. Totally at ease with each other and a sparkle to that just happens when together.
What is it about his connection with these co-stars? It is that feeling of safety which allows this affection to bubble up? Is the affirmations? The approval? The what?

Wowwwwwwwwww, what a romantic song today. Love that 5th pic of Jake and Jen.
Hope everyone had a nice holiday! :*
Funny how all things connect that Jake and Catherine and Susan connect to the 826NYC event.
Like the idea of Jake back on the East Coast (as is Austin), I like him in New York it's a good fit.
I like him in NY, too.
Jake looks good with these groups of ladies. Something about him and Jennifer, I don't know what it is. I bet Jennifer was a good, good friend for him. I just get that feeling.
Well, looks like I may be going home tonight after all. My brother & his family are probably at Mom's by now and my dogpeople are braving the interstate & weather, headed back. She misses her dogs like crazy. I've been lucky, I've got to love on cuddly little crazy Maizie all I want.
It has been a holiday to stinkin' remember!! LOL. I will never forget this one. It was all good, though. Great Christmas music, great holiday shows on TV, Peppermint Edy's ice cream and a big, huge THANK YOU to Tom & Special for wonderful phone visits. I don't know that I would've made it sanely without both of you.
Me and 3 dogs cooped up in a house for 4 nights and 5 days - dangerous, to say the least. I've shoveled enough. I've scooped & flushed enough doggie doo. Cleaned enough floors and wiped enough snowy, doggie butt to last me for a couple of months. They're all asleep now, the little terrors.
I will kiss the carpet in my bedroom when I return home and kneel at the hard, uncomfortable chair in my dining room where I command central with my laptop.
Wow, watching that first video with Jennifer, I can't believe that was Jake.
I hope in 2010, Jake can find himself doing such an honor again.
Coming to you.....LIVE!!!!!...
Oh man, it has been such a small journey, lol. I am home!!!! I'm home, I'm home, home, home, home!
happy dance!!
I'm home, home, home!!!
They got home right around when she said they would but she said northern Missouri was bad! Icy and then they got stuck at the bottom of their driveway!! And the neighbor and her husband had to push the car out of that snow and slush. What a mess. It was awful. I'm glad I never left though because my little car would have gotten Stuck!. I had backed into the garage so my front wheel drive was able to get down fine and I parked it in the street. She just called to make sure I got home alright.
We got us some major snow around here. It just keeps snowing! An inch here, an inch there. It's going to take awhile for all this to melt. I'm tired of it already. It'll probably be a long time before I'll be able to walk around here again. I'll have to go back to walking after work at my park for awhile.
Well, looks like it's quietsville around today as it should be. I haven't even had a holiday celebration yet, lol. It's been me, Libs, Barks, & crazy little Maizie for the past 5 days. My family's presents are still all piled by the door right where I left them so I could have picked them up yesterday. lol. What a JOKE!!
Oh, and then I almost forgot! I fell in their driveway!! LOLLLL!! Slid right on down onto my keister, with my laptop on one shoulder and carrying a bag in the other hand. Sort of did a hurdle jump position. LOLLL!! It was kind of a slow motion, graceful fall, actually; I just hope I didn't aggravate my disc problem; that would be awful. But I think I'm okay; usually I'd be able to tell by now.
Okay, well, just a blow by blow of the trip home. What a holiday to remember. It all seems like this big dream now. The important thing is she had a great time with her folks and her dad is doing well. That's great.
And so now tomorrow will be my holiday celebration. The kids are over at Grandma's and they were happy to hear I was getting home tonight. I really look forward to seeing everyone, even my sister who I see every doggone day. lol.
Phew. Well, goodnight. Sorry for the ramble but it all just kind of came spilling out. That fall. LOL. Geez. I haven't fallen for awhile. That was something. snicker
Love the song. Really the first time I've played one over and over on this site. Sang with a lot of emotion. Just saw the movie "A Single Man". That song belongs in that movie.
I'd include Laura Dern among these Jake ladies. Maybe even Drew Barrymore!
Happy day after Boxing Day :)
Is it me or does Jake bring out the nuturing protective thing in these ladies?
The song, love Dinah Washington, and this song is just amazing. It just hits you. Former TB, haven't seen The Single Man, but have read amazing reviews and from what I read I could see how this song could have been it. You may have heard this song before in a movie, Clint Eastwood picked it for Bridges of Madison County.
Glad you made it home PG.
I was so busy the last couple of days I have not even had a chance to talk to my girlfriend until late last night.
Which reminds me, people were discussing earlier about Jake and Austin about holidays. I often spend Christmas apart from my girlfriendam. She is Jewish and does not like celebrating Christmas evewn though for me it is purely a tradition/secular thing. She also hates to travel this time of year. It is more important tro my mom to come than it is that I stay home with my girlfriend for a holiday she does not care about.
So I do not think it is crucial to a relationhip to spend holidays together as long as you have other thuings and occassions you can share, like vacations.
However, if the only reason you do not spend time together is the closet, that is just sad and pathetic. The other thing is that Jake and Austin spend a lot of time apart filming, and I would think given that they would want to send as much time together as possible. Hopefully they are.
Interesting topic today, after I thought about it. I think sometimes just because a woman is older, it doesn't necessarily make her a nuturing "mother" type. It could be, but I think that's a quality that a woman of any age can have, and then again, some women don't have a nurturing bone in their bodies, but some men do. It also implies the "nurturee" needs help or they think he/she isn't able to stand on their own two feet or something. Just some thoughts I had, I'm not trying to argue or contradict anyone's opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and all opinions are valid one.
I thought about it and I like my gay male friends and work associates for the individual people they are, although I do have nurturing qualities as well. Maybe it's a mixture of human qualities.
Wow, I hadn't realized this song was from the BoMC. I did see the movie and read the book. I had heard an excerpt of the book read on NPR or something, and I found the passage so evocative, I had to buy the book, and I think I read it all the way through if not in one sitting, then not very many. I think it's a misunderstood story. What a great, extremely romantic song.
Got got back from DC and visiting Wicked and her little family. We went to see RDJ and Jude Law in Sherlock Holmes and yes Sherlock does love Dr. Watson..
I am so happy Spesh posted that first E You tube video. If any one doesnt believe Jake has worked on butching up the old vocal cords compare that video with the Video Game awards video. Big difference.
