Since I was asked not to post everyone's pictures on the main blog, here is a link to the pix. When I uploaded these, I unhappily discovered there are none of Tom. I realized that's because those are all in his camera! There are also no pictures of Spesh, because she is afraid the camera will steal her soul. The Red Sox really need Spesh to have a soul right now because they are in the World Series, and she just couldn't risk it. So you're stuck with Wicked, NETB, Destiny, and Destiny's Mrs. We're pretty cool, though.

Duh, there's obviously something going wrong, whatever, its a new film about Salvador Dali & Federico Garcia Lorca, and about their (supposed) love affair.
And to continue the last thread ITA helena. Jake chooses his films scripts so carefully so it baffles me he accepts such a cliched script for his star image. This charade only manages to alianate his core fans "the unique fanbase". His pr could and should do so much better.
Some more names for your list here are two sets of couples, okay Johns and Rauschenberg did split very acrimoniously but what the heck. (if these are already on there apologies):

Looks like Rendition will not be on the top ten list of box office sales for this weekend.
Went and saw opening night of the first live production of Donnie Darko at the ART (American Repertory Theater) in Cambridge, with NETB, and RR, great new friends met last week at the OMG get together.
Darko has been workshopped at the ART Institute for 3 years, but makes its debut as the kick off of the ART's 07/08 season.
Quite the challenge to bring such a cult classic movie to the stage, and to meet the expectations of the audience,coupled with its complex storyline. The show was very good, but you really need to have seen the movie to get the most from the play.
Good solid performances. Eddie Darko (Dad) was played a little broader than I cared for and teacher Karen Pomeroy(Drew's character) was a bit weak.
Dan McCabe stepped up and did a great job with Donnie. Hard to live up to because Jake will always be Donnie Darko.
Another outstanding performance was Thomas Derrah as Jim Cunningham. The school assembly had everyone in the audience engaged in Cunningham's motivational speaking.
With over 600 cues, the stage manager has a huge job. While not everything went perfectly but after a few performance all the kinks should be worked out.
Set design was innovative for a small scale production, and Donnie's interaction with Frank and other key scenes were handled well.
I would encourage anyone who is the Boston area to check it out.

We all had a great time at Donnie Darko, and had dinner at a fabulous restaurant recommended by Special K too! Since we all love the original so much, Dan McCabe as Donnie had big shoes to fill. There were a few kinks, as Special said, but overall I thought it was well done, very creative, and pretty faithful to the movie. I thought Dan McCabe was great as Donnie. I liked the set design too Special, and also thought that audience engagement in the school assembly Cunningham scene was very well done.
Great song, Wicked, and I have to say how much I love Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt yesterday, just beautiful. You and Special are so creative with your musical choices. Have I told you all you are the best lately? :*

IHJ has some pictues of Reeke in a car leaving a Halloween party, both are in masks, she's in a big white wig. Even tho shes giggling Jake looks stonefaced, not smiling, nothing. Hope my post isn't out of line on this blog "Pictures of OMG Get Together" by talking about Jeese but I just had to say how Jake looks not happy. And who else could he go with to a Halloween party now, not Austin, no one really. I think he's sold himself to the devil.

Jake might be wearing a mask but it is quite visible he is NOT smiling in there because you can see his eyes and you can see his mouth. When he smiles and he is happy it shows in his eyes. But if you think he is dizzingly happy under those .... go ahead. What exactly is a maron?

Well, I am a fan of Jake and think I'll remain one probably for a really really long time. I love him as an actor I think he is fun and intelligent. I feel he is also extremely ambitious and probably quite shrewd too. If he is hiding a relationship with Austin, I hope that the full bearding experience is teaching him right now how painful the situation can be and I hope he will make the right decision at some point. If he and Reese are real, and I am open to it, than it looks to me that reasons other than passion is keeping them together, probably some calculated moves to make them both look good, though it is not working too well. Where is the fire? Even in this case I hope they drop it soon, and move on to more exciting relationships. I am going to be very honest, I hate to see him wasted with a average looking, extremely boring and highly overrated little blonde. I am no great fan of Kiki but she was a burst of life compared to this. But I would not have a problem if I saw him happy. Right now I feel concerned for him.
I am still rather convinced Austin is in the picture. Jake looked to me dizzingly happy the week of his show appearances which he spent in NY while Reese was in LA. Then they both go to Rome and his mood changed considerably. NOT good.

i can't say i will dislike jake as an actor, he's still doing good movies. whatever he chooses to do for his personal life, we can speculate and even feel disappointed or disgusted, but it's his life. perhaps, i am hopeless, but i will always love him for playing jack twist. and if he continues to make good films, i'll still support him as an actor.

Their cover story was Queen Latifah- 200 lbs. and loving it. US Weekly had a mention of the article on its cover sidebar also with no pic. Their cover was how Trista lost the baby weight. Interesting that those stories were seen as more important, and more likely to sell magazines, than Jeese.

But I really like name tags at parties. Why? Because I can be whoever I want to be for the night. And you can do that here by picking a name.

I know it is very easy to be disappointed, angry or frustrated right now. But don't let that be the only thing you feel. There are other things to focus on.
Don't let those things push out all the good feelings and respect you have for yourself, each other and this community.
I still believe that Jake and Austin are together. What is happening right now, is just a right now thing, it will be over soon. And I think more importantly that it is not who Jake is seen going out with at the beginning of the night, but who he comes home to every night and wakes up laughing with each morning. And that's Austin.

It's Halloween week in the US right now. Maybe the operative word is masks.
It seems like this could be a time in which we further explore the masks an actor would choose to wear, and why. Maybe those reasons aren't so different from the reasons why we choose to wear masks ourselves.
In spite of everything (including feeling misled) I'm still a Jake fan--or want to be. I guess it's because I still feel there's something powerful to know underneath all those masks.
Maybe there's even something under them seeking to be known to itself and others--something too young to be able to see the future. He's 26. I was really a jerk when I was 26.... (hopefully less so now, but it's a work in progress)
another way to look at it is... the public has filmsy memory. elton john got himself a wife when he's young and now he's a spokesman and role model for gay marriage in uk. george michael now acts like he had never dated his backup female singer to hide his sexuality.

Exactly. Just back from the shopping center and this is also what I saw. Some will say: "See, they're not seeking publicity nor trying to quash rumours; they're really in love!" Well, call me cynical if you want but to me this looks more and more like a "gesture of good faith" to appease HW producers.

The pictures from the OMG get together are nice. Glad you all had a good time. Glad the Donnie Darko play was good, but Jake will always be the ultimate DD to me. He was excellent in that movie.
I have a question for people posting over here. Is Jake the first actor you've ever followed that closely and who've you've been as disappointed with?
For me this is a "first". My interest was piqued first and foremost by BBM. And I strongly suspect that it might have waned had I not learned so much from hanging around at WFT and OMG. Maybe this is why I'm enclined to be more understanding or philosophical about this whole situation. Maybe if I had felt let down over and over again by different actors I might be less forgiving.
Jake is not the first closet case in HW. Many before him have behaved just like him and, let's be honest, are behaving just like he does right now, as we're posting here and over at WFT. Yet we're not as sanctimonious about these other actors. Maybe because we never bothered about them or never paid attention to their private life.
Please understand I'm not trying to silence those who are expressing their anger and disappointment. I just want to know if I'm the only newbie in this field. ;) :)

On another topic, thanks to WDW, here is a very short but really interesting interview Jake did in London with the Culture Show. The interviewer is Frank Gardner, a war correspondant who survived being hit in Afghanistan.
Jake will always be DD. Always Always. And for myself that was the movie that hooked me. I appreciated his work in October Sky when I saw it when it came out. But it was Darko that made me sit up and take notice.
It was interesting to see DD brought to the stage. I wondered as I watched it if any of the actors from the movie would be curious to see the production.
I've known Jake for about 10 years, long before anyone had even heard of him. I've followed his film career and always admired his role choices, and other things. He uses his brain and his intuition so he usually makes good decisions. But this about Reese? I don't get it. maybe he's really lonely, or its a forced HW thing, I dunno. Its proby the worst move I've seen him do and I hope any damage will be minimum.

Jake's life has become more entertaining than his movies for many people, which is why people complain that Reeke is boring and J&A is more interesting. But there's a danger in finding your entertainment in the lives of real people cause they'll never live up to the image in your head. They're gonna be 'boring' sometimes cause they're not fictional characters in a movie that are put there to entertain you. This is what I've learned from overinvesting in a happy ending for Jake and Austin. It's like a movie in my head. A happier ending to BBM. I realize now I was more a fan of Jack Twist than Jake Gyllenhaal, more a fan of Ted's Toothy Tile story than of Jake himself. I look at Jake now and feel like I don't know him at all. Maybe I never did.

Sure Jack Twist was not happy to step in there and meet Alma while all he wanted was to go away and be alone with the men he just had one of the hottest kisses. Jake gives me the vibe of 'do I really need to go in and be here' all hunched over like that. Well, since he is not stepping into Ryan's apartment with Reese I just don't see why he should be like that, he is not exactly in the same situation as Jack Twist or is he? Jake maybe you drunk too much mint tea punch! Go back to your self.
I also had this thought that perhaps after Rome Austin had a major fall out with him? Not that I would blame him. Well if I make no sense, just remember I am confused as many of us!
Don't think there has been a fallout. I think that Jake is with Austin far from prying eyes.
I think part of his discomfort and demeanor is that there is something at home that he doesn't want to leave for a moment. The other part is that he does not want to be a part of this charade. I think push came to shove for Jake, from TPTB.
It has to be definately back to the pr drawing board with these two. Reading through all the gossip site, Perez, TMZ, dlisted etc, the comments are almost all negative, mainly shouting Fake, Bearding etc. Some of the comments are funny, some are just really unpleasant, very few are kind. How can what on paper looks like a cute couple go down so badly.
You have to feel sorry for both of them, although they have asked for it. As sam2 above says, for Jake at least (okay maybe Reese as well) I hope the damage can be rectified.
The other part is that he does not want to be a part of this charade.

in reply to frenchy's question, is this your first, I have always had obsessions. My first was Bruce Willis- I remember when he and Demi were married- I hated her so much! Then Rumor was born. (poor girl). Then I progressed to a Morrissey obsession which led to an Oscar Wilde obsession which led to a Leopold and Loeb obsession.
to answer frenchy's question. jake is not the first actor that i followed closely... I was a life-long Tony Leung fan (since he was 19 and making tv drama).
the difference with jake is that, it's the first time that i become obsessed with a movie and a character (jack twist).... so at the beginning it was probably jack twist that i love, not jake the actor. and i would honetly admit that i later become more interested in jake because his toothy tile and austin-related stories fit into my fantasy/idea/dream of him. And let's be honest, before all these Reeke business broke out, he has this insanely likeble personalities.
Has this all been just an act? it would be a horrible case if that's true. And i still have more faith in human characters than that.

But if he really loves Reese...yuck, she is not very well liked in HW, I think she's phony, theres something about her thats distasteful. Frenchy, I never have followed an actor this closely. I am a big movie fan, and unless there was a major news story concerning an actor, that would be the extent of my interest. That was before I read the first Blind Item. I thought it was beautiful and unique, very unlike all of the jaded HW stories I couldn't have cared less about knowing. Could we have been so wrong?
I'm not angry, I'm more disappointed with the HW system than anything, especially if we have to see it happening right before our eyes. It's truly nauseating. I still am a fan and support Jake. :)

The virtuals and Dlisted's take on the latest pictures made me really laugh for the first time this week abot Jeese, although I'm still hopping mad about it, and the Halloween pictures just added to that because I do think of it as a gay holiday of sorts, and J should be out with A in some outrageous costume. Dlisted got that one right!
Frenchy, Jake is the first actor I've felt this way about, and it started the first time he appeared on the screen in BBM, even though I'd seen him in other movies and was a big DD fan already. All of my other "obsessions" so to speak have been musicians. Not that there are that many out musicians, but for the most part musicians' lives are not fodder for the gossip pages, so you don't see bearding on the same level you do with actors, it's more a matter of appearing straight than having a fake relationship. But I've never cared who anyone was with before, nor as I this hooked. I'm sure some of that has to do with BBM and TT. I naively thought Jake would be different. I thought coming out was a long shot, but did think he would go the Jodie Foster route at least. I think one reason I'm having so much trouble with this is that I really disdain the actors who in my mind have become jokes because their closeting behavior is so painfully obvious...Cruise, Travolta, Spacey.
Now that's MY Jake.

After a good night's sleep, I'm feeling hopeful again. Thank you special for reminding us to look at the whole picture. If you focus on that, there is still hope left. Also what I have truly realised is that the greater narrative is getting to share the ups and downs with you guys.
So I'm back to hoping that after the masked man got back home, there was something a bit more real waiting for him. I hope the best for J&A during this stressful time and to rephrase Rufus W: "You are taking advantage of a world that loved you well", please realise that at some point soon. There was no need for all of this, none at all!
Gotta say Josie is on the Ipod and when Johnny pops up I always crack a smile. The soundtrack of my years with guy friends in college. Man that questioned came up more times.
I'm tired but happy, running on about 2 1/2 hours sleep. I love my Sox!!!! I am going to try and say this as nicely as I can.

The virtuals some times are just moments of silliness that make the real world goings on look even more ridiculous than the virtuals could ever be. They have been around a long time in Toothiverse, they just didn't pop up last night. Here's a tip about them. Take your tongue and put firmly in your cheek.

For those in Boston and surrounds, the ART is doing a theatre production of Donnie Darko. Not sure of the complete run dates, but we are going on Nov. 9. Should be interesting, too bad they couldn't get Jake to reprise his role!
