I don't think the Big Love is lost at all. It is just behind closed doors at the moment.
Here are the pics of Jake and Reese. As much as I support Austy love, we cannot ignore reality.
I am so hurt by Jake’s tacky and tasteless behaviour that I am resistant to put Austin on a pedestal. I am sure his own showmance will appear soon. It’s like bumping my head against the wall of reality. The romantic and idealistic side of toothy is over (or maybe that side never existed and was created by Ted). I still think Jake and Austin had/have a relationship but I refuse to idealise them again. Sadly, IMO Toothy was an utopia.
Here is something interesting.
Monday night did a search of vital records for CA. To see if there was a baby there would have be paperwork filed with the state records.
Found a listing for a Austin Don Nichols (right age too), but didn't pay the processing fee to get the report at the time. Now I am kicking myself. Why?
Because going back yesterday to vital records site, the entry is now suddenly gone.
Austin and Jennifer/ Sophia were obvious attemts at bearding so unfortunately I can't celebrate him. Austin doesn't really have anything to promote at the moment so hopefully we'll be spared from his performance.
Although it would be kind of funny that they both suddenly had new girlfriends after three years of singlehood.
I'm trying to look at Jake and Reese as a real couple but I'm not reading any intimacy in the pictures (even the kiss). Wishful thinking perhaps but... bltb, do you have anything for us on body language?

I still think Jake's behavior is "I am just following orders" but doing it in such a way, that he is waving the red flag for someone to come on and out me. I think he feels this is the only way he can come out.
There have been bigger stars to back down to HW's pressure about coming out. I think he might trying to find the only way he thinks could work for letting him be out. I am not saying it is logical or it is the right way, but it might the only light he sees.

I agree I don't see any intimacy in the pictures either. Actually I think the kiss is interesting. Jake's back to the camera, you assume they are kissing, but you don't really see it. It is a interesting angle to give the camera. It is clear that they know they are on display and that the cameras are capturing it.

I completely disagree that Jake is just following orders and wants to be out. He is an intelligent adult and he knows the business. He chose to sell himself as a commodity with a showmance over having integrity as an actor. I don’t think his action can be justified as just ‘following orders’. I know it is difficult to survive in Hollywood but there are other ways. He has talent and everything to be a star. He doesn’t need a charade and pulling this tacky photo opportunity to help his career. I don’t think he wanted to come out or be outed. If that was the case, he could have followed a different path that doesn’t make a definite statement of what image he wants to project to the general public suddenly making out with Reese in Rome the same weekend as his movie flopped.

HW is bigger and more powerful than most will ever know. There is more that happens behind closed doors than anyone can imagine. That is were HW works, not on the pages of magazines.
HW runs on secrets, favors, and connections. It is brokering those on all levels from the lowest to the highest that makes HW go.
It is a weird symbiosis, HW, gossip, stars, they all need each other.
Many think the stars have the power, very very few do. The real power lies with those behind the scenes, the names and faces of those are that might be small print on the movie marquee. Those are the ones with the real power, those are who can make or break a career. Those are the ones who call the shots. And those are the ones who will step over who ever they must.

One thing I am sure of this showmance wont continue for long. Reese will want to move on with her life if she already hasn't at some point.
I now see this a a desperate attemt by Jake and his advisers to get rid of the gay rumors. They have him convinced that they are killing his career. Reese is a very good friend of his and has agreed to do this for him. It doesnt hurt her in anyway. Its definitely not for the movie. It is too late for that. The movie has bombed and Jake is worried. He wants to be Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and he sees it isnt working. He has got to try and do something different. This pics are an attempt to sell a product. You see a pretty package you buy it. Yoy see a women like Halle Berry work for a make up company and a women who wants to be prettier will buy that make up.
If you think Michaeal Jordan Nikes can make you jump higher a kid will want those shoes. Jake wants to dress up the product. He wants to sell to those who go to the movies. Not the 10-15% of his gay fans but to the 85-90 percent who want their leading men to be str8. Thats a lot of money. Jake doesn't work for Jake. He works for an industry that brings in billions of dollars. If he doesn't conform if he doesnt have the proper image he wont sell.
The celebrity has gotten to Jakes head. He likes it. Jarhead and BBM made him think he was a huge star and he wants to be a huge star.

I don't know what you think you saw on the Vital Stats website, whether it was the birth records part of their site, but any online California Vital Stats site with reference to live births does NOT, I repeat - DOES NOT list father's name.
What you will get in an online search - ANY online search - of CA Vital Stats is the following:
Child's Last Name, First Name, Middle Name, Birth Year, Birth Month, Birth Day, Mother's Last Name, Sex, Birth County.
Furthermore, Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't have that kind of pull to erase a state record in Sacramento.

I just found it interesting that the name was up there, and now it is not.
There was something there and then it wasn't.
Well here is the link where I saw his name and the result for a Austin Don Nichols in CA.
Again I did not say it was a birth record, but a record with his name on it was there on Monday and not it is not available. I did not say the file was taken away, but the access to get the file is no longer there. It gets down to the semantics of things.

We didn't all appear at Stephen Gyllenhaal's book readings like those on other sites and basically try and stalk the Gyllenhaal family. And I was really proud of us for that.

These are real people with real feelings. I keep thinking about that moron calling Dr Nichols and it makes my blood boil.
We don't know what is really going on. We don't know if Jake and Reese are real, pretending, exceptionally affectionate friends. We don't know how Austin feels about it or if he is even a part of it anymore.

Sorry, AG, but I must respectfully disagree. There is a world of difference between accessing a public record and bothering someone at his private residence.

I remember reading Austin's DUI arrest report. I felt guilty about it after but at least it was something that had already been reported.
The reality is that Austin would not be able to hide a baby forever. The minute he steps out near photographers with a child they are going to take a picture. Because it's something different.
If he is filming The Informers in November, then he is going to be in Uruguay because that is where they are moving after the LA shooting and there is no word that Austin has yet filmed his scenes. If he's going to be there and Jake is going to be in New Mexico, where is this kid going to be?

What a day! I just finished reading the posts here and there, and copying this and that, and bookmarking this site and that article and finally here's my little one-and-half cent cause I'm exhausted. :)
First of all thanks Special for this splendid sight I got while arriving at OMG. And also for that great EW.com article. I think it’s a must-read for all of us right now.

I think some kind of confirmation or epilogue by Ted would be welcome as some people are really starting to think they’ve been duped all along. It would simply bring a certain “reassurance”. I don’t think it would have any other impact. It would certainly not change Jake’s behavior. After all Ted’s latest outing was met with a deafening silence. And if Ted ultimately decided to retire TT, I’m sure it would be temporary. ;)

Thanks for you post. There are so many men and women who are showing the world each and every day living openly and honestly.
The article on EW.com, shows that HW is not keeping up with the changes that society is making. For HW who is supposed to be ahead of trends, have a lot to do to catch up with society when it comes to attitudes and the GLBT community.
But it does show something to be happy about, that society is changing on it own, without HW's influence, and it is from the lives of out and proud men, women, couples and families. Maybe society will influence HW this time around.

Thanks Frenchy, I"m feeling a lot better tonight. I finally got up the nerve to look at the pictures, and maybe bcause they were so fuzzy they didn't bother me as much as I was expecting. I don't think Ted has been wrong about J&A, maybe just about some of the details.
I'm sory, but this comment on Just Jared made me laugh:
I can hear the handlers now “well we’ve got about 50 pictures but still no sexual chemistry, why don’t you jump on his back? He likes that”.
What's my assessment of the body language in these photos? *grabs Dany's stamp and pounds over every one* I'm with special on this one. I have to laugh, if not shake my head. And wait. Indefinitely.
At the moment I'm so caught up in Rendition. It's a beautifully-made and acted film. The lighting and colours are some of the most gorgeous I've seen captured on film in a long time. Omar Metwally broke my heart. I thought the whole Moroccan cast was superb. It's a very human film, and that's what I really loved. I thought Jake's performance was mesmerising. He works really well in ensemble casts. His surface was so still and yet he was blooming underneath; I thought it was amazing and so indicative of his growing range. The scene of him waiting in the hospital is one of the most stirring moments he's ever helped to create, imo.
I can't reconcile this actor that I've loved and admired for so long for all his work with the guy I see in this travelogue of PDA. But right now that's ok.
i still admire Jake as an actor and will always love him for bringing Jack Twist onto the big screen.
But right now I have to seperate his work from all these PR stunts. i still managed not to get my sick looking at those PDA photos (except the first 2).
btw, Jake's interview with BBC's "Culture show" will be shown this Sat (1930) on BBC2. It is a more serious programme and it should concentrate only on the issues raised in Rendition. So don't miss it if you love Rendition.
I just went through the 65 Just Jared pictures. Jake looks visibly distressed in nearly every picture and he's a million miles away in the fountain shots. These remind me of Jake after Lakers II. I sort of pity him now.
