On the political theme, we find out now that Jake did workshop the play Farragut North when he was in New York last year, which shows that there was some serious consideration of the part. Jake opted for other projects and the play has been recast with another JG, Mr. John Gallagher Jr.
It opened its debut run at the Atlantic Theater Company on October 22 and goes through November 29th.
In the movie version George Clooney's heading up looks like Leo DiCaprio will be playing Stephen the wunderkind press secretary in the midst of a a tight Presidential race, whose "meteoric rise falls prey to the backroom politics of more seasoned operatives, and his one night stand with a teenage staffer proves to be more complicated than casual. " You wonder if Jake felt he couldn't do two roles which such similarities of morality and politics . The one he took of course was Nailed, and we will have to see if his choice will pay off in the end.
Speaking of Nailed, we get little more information, this time from Jessica Biel.

Q: Is it true that your next role is playing a woman who goes sex mad because she has a nail in her head?
JB: "Yeah due to the nail being in her head she experiences rage, she experiences extreme passionate motivation, wanting to get this goal, and then getting really motivated about it. She goes through very crazy, aggressive sexual behaviour."
Q: So you play a bit of a nymphomaniac?
JB: "Not quite, but I guess it's along those lines. She just starts to get really uncontrollably excited about like a lamppost (laughs). It could be any inanimate object but for some reason that is turning her on at that moment and then she races you know, and it kind of goes back and forth."
Q: I assume you're still sticking to your policy of no nudity in the film? I heard you picked out your own body double for Nailed.
JB: "Yeah I did pick out my own body double. That was bizarre, that was very bizarre. It's very hard to be a woman and sort of be looking at women kind of like they're just objects. I was like, ‘I'm kind of having a male experience right now.' It was weird. It wasn't the best thing I've ever done. Anyway, I actually didn't stick to that policy in this other film I did called Powder Blue.
From Jake and Austin's participation in the past and present we know who they supported in the race and again pretty much be assured their position on Prop 8 in California. But that's not the most important part. It's that they voted.

Great quote. We got up at the crack of dawn to vote, got there at 6:00 a.m. when the polls opened, and there was already a line two blocks long. Luckily it was very well organized, and we were out of there in about 45 minutes, and went out for an election breakfast. The moood was so different than in past elections; people were excited and chatty and enjoying being part of a big turnout.
Special, I did notice the lip lick.
Okay, mood does not have three o's. Not enough sleep and too much caffeine.
Watched OTH last night. Austin was really good. He has lost his boyishness. I mean that as a compliment. The youthful look was great, but as a man he has an unlimited opportunity for meaty roles. I sure hope he gets them. I think he has what it takes to carry a TV series and prefer seeing him on a regular basis over the occassional movie. I'm glad they did not show him close up in the kissing scene. Those lips belong to Jake.
I don't usually watch election results but I plan to tonight, since this may be a truly historic election. So happy to hear that people are turning out in large numbers.
Yay! I voted! I live in a small town, so even at its busiest it won't be too bad, but I went during a quiet time. There's definitely a mood of excitement - everybody's happy, friendly and looking forward to a change I think. And you feel so lucky to be able to do this. :)
I thought Austin was great too, M, and I agree about the lips and the "I Love You". I loved seeing "Special Guest Star Austin Nichols". I think he's more mature too, both in acting and looks. Funny, after our discussions of last night and this weekend, I noticed that most of the advertisements during OTH were geared towards women, and older women specifically.
I mail in vote .I can take my time and do it weeks before. No waiting in line. Last time for the primary I forgot to mail mine so I took it to my polling place to drop it off and they were empty. They told me most people mail theirs anymore. Do you do it Destiny to be traditional? I have to say going out to an election breakfast after sounds good!

PG, I loved reading about your changes of belief. My in-laws used to be very homophobic and are now totally accepting of the Mrs. and I as a couple. The stepmother of one of my ex-girlfriends would not allow me in the house when we were dating, now if she finds out I was in the state of NJ and did not visit her, there will be hell to pay. People can and do change throughout their lives.
VOTING SIDE NOTE- Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, and Ben and Jerry's are all giving out free stuff if you go there wearing your "I voted" sticker.
Unfortunately you can't vote early in New York, unless you're going to be out of the state on election day. But I have to admit it was kind of fun doing it the old-fashioned way too.
I had whatever you call Eggs Bennedict when you get them with spinach instead of ham, and grapefruit. I almost went for french toast, but I think my system would have gone into shock over so much goo that early in the morning.

I'm still going to pretty much tune out the election coverage tonight, altho I've already gotten on CNN.com a couple times this morning to get a glimpse of what's going on out there. It is indeed a historical day in America and no matter what the outcome, I hope this country will pull together and even if it's not the candidate they wanted, that we won't have a bunch of sore losers & only people that want to pull together & pull this country up by the seat of its pants off the floor.
Need to make one correction to something I said last night. My statement didn't make any silly indication of "bigness", only humbleness.
Destiny, if that meant I "came out", then cool. Don't think I ever sounded like I wasn't straight, but certainly never brought up the fact about how I used to think several years ago. It never quite seemed appropriate until last night.
It's too bad we couldn't have been all comfy in somebody's living room last night in order to have a good, oldfashioned chitchat.

Voting when I get home from work tonight. The morning line was crazy long with commuters on their way into work and the residents of the retirement high rise next to the church were I vote. So going straight from the train to the vote. Massachusetts have their polls open till 8 tonight which is great. No gay marriage question for MA residents - we have 3 questions:
Q1. Eliminate the state personal income tax for all tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2009.
Q2. Replace the criminal penalties for possession of 1 oz. or less of marijuana with citation and no criminal record.
Q3. Protect the Greyhounds.Prohibit any dog racing or racing meeting in Massachusetts where any form of betting or wagering on the speed or ability of dogs occurs.
Thought this was cool. On NYTimes.com they are asking for one word that describe your current mood as you voted. And they run the word across the screen.

Sorry I have been a bit MIA for the last couple of weeks I started a new project at work and it's been a little hectic. I've been reading the comments though so im going to comment on a few things all at once. That was a great Spotlight on sunday Special - as usual. I love interacting with seniors. What a great wealth of knowledge there. Good idea on the recipes too. I could definately use some help in the kitchen. No ideas for the movie club yet. I'll think more on that. I'm glad you got some extra work Kacie. I hope your back to work full-time soon. I dont normally watch OTH but im going to watch for Austin if I can catch it on Fancast. And last but not least - Tom have a great vacation.
Off the train and into the polls - there was a steady stream of people but by this time of the day they had the system working quite smoothly. Lots of first time voters, and they weren't those who just turned 18 either.

And I can't even keep up with that one anymore, so I don't know that I have it in me to try & keep up with another show. I don't watch much TV anymore; I'm usually on this thing. If Jake stays with Reese I will be very surprised if he publicly endorses a candidate or campaigns for anyone. She is very adamant about never making public statements about how she votes.

She is clearly a Democrat she's just very careful not to alienate anyone by being "political". If your goal is to make blockbuster franchise movies for Disney or Universal you need to stay in the middle. One of the many lessons I assume Jake is learning. For someone who was so politically active it seems really out of character for him to have said absolutely nothing about this election. Not even an Obama baseball cap.

I'm nervous about Prop 8 too, it's not looking good, but also to early to tell.
Wow! I'm so thrilled about President Obama - this was a tough election for me, I don't know that I'd ever recovered from Al Gore's loss, and what that meant for the environment and other issues that mean a lot to me. I love everything President Obama stands for - I try to be jaded, mature, unaffected, etc. but I just can't, I do have hope for the future, I feel strongly about things, that's just my nature, so why fight it?
John McCain I have always thought was a good man, I'm not surprised he conceded with class. I liked his environmental and energy policy, but I thought Obama's ust went the extra mile. But John McCain is a good man, a moderate Republican. I'm sure he'll do great things in the Senate. I'm just ideologically a Democrat, through and through. Now, as you all say, the worry about Prop 8.
I wasn't able to stand the suspense either, so I had a lie-down, now I'm up at 3 am! lol

netb, what a gracious statement you make yourself. Very nicely said. There's no need to dance the worm in the endzone over the whole thing. It is indeed a historic moment and certainly there is alot to be tremendously excited about. I am excited myself, but it won't all happen overnight. And one man isn't going to do it all, but it's a great start. As one of my pastors said, an election is about hope. Voting is about people having hope and this election reflected alot of hope in Americans.

Wow, there's no direct official result yet that I can see. The latest reports are as of an hour ago and they say it's either "too close to call" or the other scary one was that Prop. 8 was tipping in favor of it.
That one captures my attention now since the presidential race is over. It would be too sad if it is passed. To think that Ellen's wedding ceremony could be invalidated? I'm not real proud of or happy with those who campaigned in favor.

Your comment echoed my sentiment as well, but what made me sad was that just the mention of those 2 immediately brought down my mood. What does that say, huh? I don't know alot of Jake's personal history in making political statements, but he sure was in enough pictures with political tones, not to mention being quite active in the ACLU, an organization which I absolutely cannot stand, to seem to indicate that he is very politically minded. You would think that Proposition 8 would've been an extremely personal issue for him, to say the least. And so many celebrities spoke out against it, including his friend Ellen. Hopefully, Disney nor Reese are not politically stifling him. Otherwise, you may as well tie some strings to his arms, legs, & head, and stand Gepeto behind him because it just about makes him merely a puppet.
