I don’t think it necessarily means Grey Goose doesn’t want to be out. I think Ted is saying that if Toothy comes out, Goose is outed either if he wants it or not.
Could be, although I think Ted probably doesn't know.
Several times I've asked Ted questions about whether Goose wants to come out and/or if he would do it if not for Toothy's refusal, and Ted has never answered. It has been awhile though, pre Sophin.
What Ted does know for sure is that it would be pretty hard for Jake to be out without Austin being out.
Ted also confirms that Austin would probably be fine, career-wise.

Toothy seems to have lost his nerve each time and his true identity still eludes us. Is 2010 the year where we will finally definitely find out who Toothy really is? It does sound like Toothy is calling the shots about the coming out, and think Goosey is leaving that up to him.
I don't think Austin would put up a fight to stay in if Jake said he wanted to come out but don't think Austin is going to be the one leading the way out the door either.

Something caught my eye in the new set of pics.
The pictures are generally very generously cropped, but one of them is very closely cropped even though it's clear Jake is interacting with someone right next to him.
You can still see the arm of that person reaching for his wine glass just off screen. Looking at the arm, the hair could fit Austins arm hair and the thickness also fits (since he got all that chocolate bread ;)).
The bracelet is also something I'd have no problem seeing him wear. You can't see the fingers, but it's the left hand anyway and Austin usually wears his rings on his right hand.
It looks like the person is either leaning in to grab his glass or he is sitting on a barstool or something similar next to Jake.
Jake is also looking a lot happier in these pics inside, especially this one, than he did on the red carpet pics.
Observer at 3:35 and okay at 3:53, what part of being closeted and bearding you don't understand? Creating a convenient fauxmance with your long time friend and co-star (via sightings, staged photo ops and attending events together) to make the OTH fangirls happy and try to increase the ratings since the beginning of Season 7, doesn't constitute a relationship. Telling Just Jared and Bonnie Fuller your Valentine's day plans for publicity and holding hands in front of the cameras to try to save the show when it's about to be cancelled doesn't make their relationship real either.

Austin got a pass from me last fall because I wasn't sure it was bearding. But once it became clear, then no, I wasn't going to give Sophin a pass just because I don't think Sophia is a cold-hearted, fame-whoring bitch like Reese.
And yes, I know they are trying to get some publicity, but at least they have kept it down, and generally we've only gotten pictures from places you'd expect paps or photos from fans like the USO tour.
But I'm not going to lie and say it hasn't changed my opinion of Austin and Sophia, because it has, just like it did with Jake. Just not quite as much, because it hasn't gottten so ugly with them. At the height of Reeke I could barely stand to even look at Jake.
My take is that Reeke ended suddenly when it wasn't supposed to because one of them flipped their lid (or maybe both did - Reese has certainly looked a hundred times happier since she's stopped the bearding. Now Abbie has supposedly dumped Ryan, how long before we get Reese/Ryan rumours again?)
This means that Austin/Sophia have had to step up their campaign so that those who think Jake is gay (but non TBers) don't start putting Jake/Austin together again in their minds. Same with Jake appearing with lots of males who aren't Austin again.
If Jake started going everywhere with Austin, they'd undo everything they tried to do with the bearding.
I like Sophia, always have but I've never seen Austin be uncomfortable with her until they had to start displaying some level of PDA. This tells me his mind is elsewhere.
As said above, they are nowhere near as bad as Reeke. Probably because they are actual friends. But it proves that the masterminds behind this never learned a thing from Reeke.
You can't just suddenly decide to show loving affection for someone you are supposed to have been with for a while. It just looks FAKE.

Interesting, this breakup is so eerily similar to that of Reese and Jake's. While publicly reps for Gyllenspoon made the split seem cordial, we can tell you it didn't go down as snuggly as they'd like you to believe.

The timing is strange. From what I heard Ryan broke up with her in December around the time Reese and Jake broke up. I know Abbie wasn't factored into to his Xmas plans but then she showed up. I heard he said he wanted to break it off before she moved back into his LA home. She came back from filming and he told her he didn't want her to move back in and she went to Oz while her things were being packed up. She had no need to return everything could have been shipped but she's not going out quietly. This one could get ugly with no children involved he's not going to take crap from her.
People magazine says that Abbie was the one to end it. They haven't been together for month from what I heard.
Interesting that both couples broke up around the same time.
I'm trying to figure out where everyone is saying Sophin isn't near as bad as Reeke.
1. Sophin has walked a red carpet. Reeke never did. That in itself seems to be just floating away into the air like an Applebee's balloon. If that had been Jake & Reese, all hell would've broken loose on here and on WFT2.

Prairegirl, you seem to have forgotten Reeke’s PDA. I don’t blame you. I don’t want to remember either. Reese did grab Jake’s ass. She placed her hand in his back pocket many times (Rome, Nappa, Paris, etc). There was also thigh clutch (at the Lakers), kissing (airport, handball practice, lakers) and who can forget the ass poke for the cameras at Coachella (yuck).
If they didn’t do red carpets together, it was because it was part of their ‘we are so private’ card to try to make the relationship legit and hide the fact that they were staging the whole thing. But they attended many industry events together as a couple (CAA parties, Vanity Fair post-Oscar party holding hands, etc).
Jake played stepfather of her kids and participated in countless tabloid stories and photo ops playing the happy family. Reeke was more over the top than Sophin (at least up to now and let’s hope that they don’t go further).
We never saw Reeke actually kiss. It was blocked to look like they were kissing.(Softball) Like it was either their back was to the camera and with a fuzzy cell phone look to it (LAX), or hand covering their mouths (Lakers).

Comparing their approaches to their bearding not with standing, they both have bearded, and it does seem like Jake has gotten more outrage about doing it. I wonder if it is not about them but more about who they chose to bearded with.
Yes I was talking about the Rome trip when I said LAX, that picture had their backs to the camera and was at an angle that you assume they are kissing but you don't actually see them doing it. It is blocked to look that way, just like you would do in a movie in a long shot.
Even in Italy it looked like they were kissing but you never saw that, it was heads tilted and angles, just like two actors who are doing a scene.
I used to think that it was the choice of beard that made me dislike Reeke so much, but now with Sophin I realise it's the bearding in itself. No matter how much you like the person, when you see them lying and faking, it becomes very unpleasent and the reaction is negative. Your perception of the person changes.
You're right PG, nothing beats playing stepdad to someone else's kids and doing "family vacation" tabloid spreads, especially while hiding your own child. Austin is hiding of course, but not trying to make people think he's a father to someone else, which is one of the primary reasons I think Reeke was worse.
I've been hard on Austin, haven't given him a pass in a long time. So who is giving him a pass that didn't give Jake one? Seems to me that a lot of the people who were hard on Jake are no longer around, or certainly not commenting if they are. Wicked, Clarity, Smiley just to name a few. My perception of Austin has completely changed, but you know what, I don't care as much as I did with Jake. Some of it is I've become a bit numb to it, a lot of it was how Jake used Ava and Deacon, the weekly coffee runs, the tabloid spreads, and a lot of it is just that I've moved on. I've got Adam Lambert, and I've got people who have the courage to not beard and who are building careers just fine, like Quinto and Bomer.

Okay, now that I've sobbed all over the place. Not that I couldn't poke holes all over their cancer storyline and no, I didn't get emotionally involved in their acting but it brought back too many memories. That was too heavy of a subject to be FF like that in a couple of episodes.
Need I say that I was not rooting for Brooke at all in this episode? Could she have been any more unlikeable? Could Alex have been any more likeable? How did the producers of this show screw that up?

I've always said I get not coming out, as much I'd like it and wish to see big stars do it. But I'll still take Bomer and his talking about spending time with his family over the holidays--and admitting he has one, even if he won't talk about exactly who is in that family--over 100 Jakes and Austins. Not to mention the way he addresses the rumors, and doesn't put the topic off-limits.

Skater Evan Lysacek (who pings a bit for me) denying he's more than just good friends with fellow skater Nastia Luikin.
Mila Kunis at the Writers Guild awards--a star who has never used her relationship to promote herself or build a career. I've never seen Maucalay Culkin on the red carpet with her--or him using her for that matter, to try and get a career that has eluded him as an adult. Just think how easy it would be for her to get all kinds of tabloid stories about their relationship.
Not that I think it is wrong for a couple to go to events together, or that I wouldn't love to see Austin and Jake on the red carpet together (yeah, snicker, that will ever happen).
What I hate is the actively lying to people. Austin has gone from just not saying anything and not being seen much to actively lying to his fans. We're not talking about little white lies either, but real big homophobic whoppers.
Meanwhile a couple of young men in Austin Texas just gay bashed for wearing t-shirts for their gay softball team.

hard to believe Bomer is only 3 years older than Jake and Austin. I really have a hard time thinking of them as turning 30 this year, they still seem like such immature boys.
IMO even though he's older Boner looks about 3-5 years younger than Jake. Bearding and hiding a relationship and family has taken its toll on Jake. He has sooo many more lines and wrinkles on his face than he did 3 years ago and he looks tired more often than not.
Anyone see pics or interviews with Olympic snowboarder Shaun White? He wears huge turquoise rings just like someone we know.
Yes I notice that Shaun White had a similar looking ring when he was doing interviews after winning at Vancouver. And yup it reminded me of another blue square ring I've seen on someone.

Bomer does look younger too. Sorry Bomer is living in a glass closet. He does not talk about his partner or his kids publicly. He might not beard. But he is doing exactly what others are doing.
And people have talked about his partner Simon Hall, the chief executive of public relations firm PMK/HBH, "one of the largest and most powerful PR firms in all the land" having control of the information about Bomer. For his part, Halls is openly gay. He and PMK co-chief Stephen Huvane, who is also gay, "exercise a level of power that, it would not be an exaggeration to say, can literally make or break someone's Hollywood career."
So it's okay for him to be openly gay, but he and his agency won't let his partner.(Bomer) I think that's even worse.

Jesus, every single woman in OTH cried at least once in this episode. Actually most did more than once. The writers must plot out the crying scenes first, then fill in the story blanks with words around them. The episode was barely watchable, even to see Austin. It is getting painful to see him in something so stupid. And I agree with Special. Someone who behaved like Brooke in real life would be treated as a nut case, not a potential mate. Only tweener age viewers would buy that plot line.
Jake looked good in some of those party pics, but overall I'd say he did not really want to be there. In most pictures his smile (when he smiled) did not reach his eyes and looked forced. He needs to be seen about to reestablish his own identity, but we know he is basically a homebody at heart.
Until POP's played out they are both stuck in the closet. Once the Disney contract is done, then we'll see what happens. Austin's role calls for PDA in OTH, so he is just putting in some overtime.
One more thing re OTH, notice that Jake was seen wearing short shorts the same week some guy was seen in short shorts on OTH. That is not the first time there was a signifcant cooincidence with Jake/Austin and OTH. And yes, those are so Jake's legs around Austin's neck.
Lots of good stuff from Ted today, but after all is said and done I am most intrigued by hints that the breakup was not amicable. I am not surprised by that, we all guessed something happened, but it sounds like Ted is hot on the trail of finding out exactly what it was. I cant help but be curious.

Special,I can't see that song playing. The title intrigued me - love it. And lookit the name of that group. The Pomegranates. lol. That's great. But the player doesn't seem to be working for me.
m, wasn't that episode something?? They rushed the mother's dying. And that storyline would've had much greater impact had Bess Armstrong's character been in the show all season long or something. But she flies in and then flies right out in a couple of episodes - some of that was just too storybook. Too perfect, wrapped up neat & tidy in a bow. If you're going to attempt a storyline like that, treat it with some realism. Those who have been through something like that know that's normally not how easily it goes.
And Clay's dead wife coming back?? I can't even bear to watch that happen. Again. I was so excited to see Buckles in that show and man, it is really disappointing to see that probably Buckles and Austin won't ever have a scene together. How is that? Julian never interacts with the other characters. They had the camping trip but that was it.
I used to love Dynasty and Knots Landing. I even used to watch some Melrose Place (I liked the Matt character. Go figure) and a bit of the old 90210 for a time. But this. Even if I were 25 years old again, I don't think I would get into this show.
Amazing how Brulian totally lost their chemistry. Lost it. Where in the heck did it go? Producers should be able to see what's going on in front of their eyes and adapt the storywriting. They should've been able to see how unlikeable Brooke was becoming and how Julian & Alex were clicking now.

Destiny I feel your pain and ITA. I said what I wanted last week about Austin. It is a little bit tougher since he hasnt been as obnoxious as Jake yet. Lets hope Sophin goes away soon.
I also agree with you on Evan but he is def not out. The man sure can skate though what a performance last week to win the Gold.

Interesting that even on OTH boards they talk about Brulian's waning chemistry this season.
With Austin, I think their chemistry has SIGNIFICANTLY decreased in s7 from S6. Even in 7x01 and the earlier episodes, it was nothing compared to what it was in S6. Maybe it has something to do with them being together off screen, IDK, but it's definitely different from what it was before.
She had great chemisty with Austin in season 6 and in the beginning of season 7. Lately something is off but I guess it's the storyline itself which is really dull and boring and actors can't really do much about it.
About SA, I think that they had good chemistry in season 6 (not really amazing, but I still shipped them together),but in season 7, I just don't see it.
As for Austin and Sophia..i just dont feel the chemistry..i agree with a lot of you that it was stronger in season 6..maybe thats why i don't like them as much as a couple..i just don't feel that much when watching them recently..yet i still like Brulian...haha..i'm odd...but i'd still take Brucas over them ANYDAY.

Totally agree with everyone's comments about OTH. Couple of other observations. Last year Brooke had the teenager to look after, which gave her someone to think about besides herself. She also had her friendship with Peyton to soften the edges. This year she is just totally dislikable.
And even for a fluffy soap opera, I can't believe have far from reality they are. Halley's mom, Brooke costing the film a lot of time and money and being forgiven....
As for lack of chemistry, glad to see it is not just us, and/or that my opinion is clouded by the bearding. A lot of it is the story problems, some of it may be the fact Sophia and Austin have been spending so much time together--there's that old addage about real life couples (not that they are one) not having chemistry on the screen. Familiarity takes away the mystery and sizzle. And who knows, maybe Austin is just not as comfortable in those scenes now that he's faking the pdas for the paps too.
I never said Bomer wasn't living in a glass closet, that's why I described him as one of the "people who have the courage to not beard". I've never referred to him as an out gay man.
I do agree that his boyfriend is very powerful, and I can certainly see why people would feel the way you do Special about his boyfriend being out and how unfair it is that Bomer is not out.
But I see it very differently. I see a powerful man who is trying to change things in HW for his boyfriend and for all gay actors.
Bomer does not beard and does not even describe himself as single (the US piece referred to him as being taken). He has now answered questions about the gay rumors in two very different magazines, Elle and Details, and he didn't deny the rumors.
Now, about those interviews. With one of the most powerful men in HW as his boyfriend, you can bet those questions would be off limits, if that is what they wanted. In fact there was a post on Queery, I think, about this very topic. They clearly want as much to come out as they think they can get out there at this time, and they are pushing envelopes and, possibly, laying the ground work for him to come out in the future.
Is it totally fair? No, of course not. But this is miles from the pr guys who tell their clients to get beards, and that they can't get jobs if they are not seen as straight, and manufacture stories and make them waste their lives going out on dates, coffee runs and even vacations with their beards.
It is also a huge step in the right direction.
Let's contrast that with Jake.
Jake has been lying to his fans for years.
Jake gives interviews in which personal questions are off the table.
Jake has bearded.
Jake has pretended to be a stepdad to his beard's kids while hiding his own.
He is now making sure people think of him as "newly single", and his people make sure that gossip sites get in as many references to Reese and other former girlfriends as possble.
He avoids anything gay: mentions of Heath, BBM, gay charities (and makes sure his pr says he wasn't at that horrible Gods' Love affair) (and no, winining a GLAAD award five years ago for a movie role is not enough), being seen at movies or plays with gay themes, never being seen with Austin, I could go on and on.
Jake is actively promoting heterosexuality as the only acceptable norm. He's telling people he's not one of those disgusting faggots and that all those homophobes out there shouldn't worry that they'll have to see one when they go to his movies.
Jake has surrounded himself with people who will do anything it takes to make him an A-list star, no matter the cost.
Bomer is surrounded by people who are doing everything they can to change the system. I also think it is no coincidence that he is good friends with other actors who are doing what they can to not play the bearding game like Quinto and Lee Pace.
I love how Ted refers to it as "the great love affair" between Toothy and Goose. So romantic. That is what makes them so special and keeps me glued to their story. Also glad to hear Jake is being a better boyfriend to Austin these days. He has a lot to make up for. Contrary to popular belief, time does not heal all wounds. But they do scar over and recede to tolerable levels.

How is Simon HAlls helping his partner. PMK has help deflect and protect may of their stable of actors including former clientTom Cruise rather aggressively when the gay word came up.
Matthew was pretty much open until he got the series and more well known and it was Hall's company PMK who closed ranks and advised him not to talk about personal issues. And they then pulled we don't talk about our clients personal life. Yet the seem to have no problem shooting down the pregnancy rumors of another client Jen Anniston.
I don't understand how you can say that Simon Hall is helping anything, after reading all the comments you've written about Hollywood keep gay actors from coming out. He shoved his own partner into silence about them and their family. How is that helping anything?
It is a great love affair and think that why Ted has both soft spot and hope for them. And I think that is why so many people are drawn to them.
I've never seen any articles in which Bomer talks openly about being gay. The only thing I've seen is that picture making the rounds kissing an old boyfriend, that got leaked after White Collar. If you've seen or read things I'm not aware of I'd love to see them.
I also don't think it's fair to equate what they are doing for one client with another. If Tom Cruise wants to interview beards and marry them, and have his pr people aggresively fight the rumors, well, that is what they are paid to do. Tom Cruise has also been doing this for decades, and is from a completely different generation.
PR people and management pursue different strategies for different clients. Now that doesn't mean they don't steal from what they've done for others, you just have to look at the Bearding 101 manual to see that.

And maybe Jake's trying to change some of that. I blame his pr people for all of a sudden mentioning all his past "girlfriends: rebuilding his dance card so to speak. Both his & Austin's people sure seem to feel the need to keep their dance card full.
He seems to be doing some things that he wasn't doing during Reeke which is great to see.
Again, if Halls wanted to shove his partner into silence, the reporters wouldn't have even been allowed to ask questions about the rumors.
What's notable, then, is that Bomer is still participating in magazine interviews that, frankly, he doesn't have to do. Bomer must speak to TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly; Details and Elle aren't exactly requirements.
Which means giving those magazines access, by sitting down for a chat, could come with a demand from his reps that no personal questions are asked. The practice is standard in Hollywood, and fluff mags are comfortable abiding by the rules just to get their glossy photos and pullquotes. But Bomer isn't doing that. He isn't requiring the press to avoid the question altogether. Instead, he's just dodging their inquiries.
It might be his way of (subconsciously? purposefully?) laying the groundwork for a quiet reveal of his sexuality down the line. We imagine, in preparing the publicity for the the fourth or fifth season of White Collar, Bomer casually hands out an interview where he mentions his partner and their kids. It won't be a People cover announcing "I'm Gay." But it will be an on-the-record acknowledgment of why he heads to the set each day.

So is it's out for the boss' hubby for Ricky Martin, or Franco, or Will Smith to have different strategies for them but not for Jake or Austin? Do you see any of PMK's clients out. But you know me, I get on a roll sometimes, or get the bug, and I just have to go with it until I get it all out, for better or for worse.
Sooo, a couple more thoughts.
First, it's never been clear to me if Halls had the children, and then became involved with Bomer, or whether they had them together.
But in any event, Halls is completely out, and I know I've seen at least one article that talks about him going to his kids school events. Not perfect, but far better than having two parents deep in the closet.
Two, Bomer has done nothing to teach his kids to be ashamed of who they are or who their parents are. Those kids will never, ever, find old pictures of their dads pretending to be involved with women--or, worst of all, treating other kids like your own for the whole world to see, complete with tabloid spreads about the family vacation.
We've also had at least one sighting of Bomer, Halls and their kids out hiking together.

Who makes the ultimate decisions about the image to sell to the public? I always thought it was the client, and that PR then devises the strategy that they think will best get them what they want.
Jake wanted to be an A-list star and make a shitload of money. He clearly didn't care what he had to do to get it, or he would have not bearded.
I see saying "NO" to a beard and no to telling lies to your fans as a big, and necessary step, on the way to having out stars.
By the way, I do have a friend who works for one of the biggest pr agencies in the world. They don't handle entertainers, but she'd tell you that they do the client's bidding, not the other way around. Everything I've read says the same is true in HW. Heck, that agent who helps people come out that you've profiled Special has said the same thing.
It is up to the client whether to come out. And if they don't want to come out, and if they don't have the courage to want to be the first, well, you can't blame pr for turning around and doing what their clients want.
You can't go from standing still to 100 miles an hour without acelerating and working your way up to the top of the dial.
Bottom line? I never thought Jake was going to come out anytime soon. I did hold out great hopes that he would do what Matthew Bomer is doing, which is why I talk so much about him.
It was my mistake to think Jake had the integrity, maturity and balls to do that.
But you throw a child into the mix, and what he has done is pretty close to unforgivable in my book.

So you are judging someone without having any proof - and lets face it - there is no proof of Jake and Austin being lovers nor that BT exists.
Everyone has different reasons for coming here. Everyone. I respect all those reasons. No one else has the right to tell anyone why they should or should not come here. I happen to agree with everything Destiny says and applaud her for sticking to her guns. I dont think it is a fan club for myself or Destiny but it is ok if it is for others. What some dont understand is how frustrating it is watching Jake and Austin make a mockery out of what is so important to me and most likely Destiny. Being Gay is not something to be ashamed of. Just think it you can't make arguments saying it's ok the way Bomer is doing it it and giving him praise and then calling others out. And I know the bearding thing is where you're are argument will be. But who's not to say the Bomer will do that if he was advised to by his husband or agency?
I don't see Bomer publicly mention his children or any of those things that you have said that Jake has not done. He does not acknowledge he has children. He uses the word family. Jake can say family but you take it in a different context. It becomes subjective then.
It's all variation on a theme. If you call one out then you need to call the whole system out.
Not praise the people like Hall would are the reason the system continues. And think it's even worse that an out gay man would do that to others in the business and even more so his own partner.
Marc Malkin at E! and Just Jared have pictures of Austin attending the Black Eye Peas concert last Friday in North Carolina with Sophia and Lee Norris (Mouth from OTH). Of course they are selling bearding BS and they look like a copycat of Reeke at Coachella. But check out Austin’s pinky ring. Exactly the same one Jake has and on the same hand.
