Conan and airplanes and bears... oh my

We've known that Jake needs a few things with him when he flies:

His special earplugs,  The Rescue Relief drops,  but now we need to add tissues.

Why?  It seems like Jake gets a wee bit emotional on the plane.

This time blame it on the bears.

Jake was on Conan explaining how the Disney documentary Bears got him more than choked up.  Even just talking about it got him a littler verklempt.

Check Jake out talking about the watching Bear here

From him talking about the Mama Bear and her cubs, it sounds like he can identify but maybe more with gosslings.

Re-LAX 2

" Okay... making this easy.  ID. Out.  Shoes. Untied.  Jacket. Off. "
Heading straight to security you can assume, Jake checked in and checked those bags at the curb.
"Why do you have to go through this maze if there is no one in line?"

"Don't want to crush the kale chips."

" Shoes in the tray.  Phone and wallet in the dish.  My backpack's got nothing the latest Star magazine, a book about Mongolian throat singing and of course my Rescue Relief drops."

"Hey lady, I'm moving as fast as the line is.  Seriously....."

"This isn't the one that sees through my clothes is it?  Don't sell it to TMZ"

"I hope that banana looks like a banana in the x-ray"

" Oops! Ok, I took my belt off, but I've kept these thick chains on, that won't throw off the machine will it? "
Heading to the plane with a new backpack that looks inspired by the flag of a South American nation.

You'd think with Jake traveling so much he'd signed up for the prescreening programing.

Time ZJones

Jake back in LA yesterday with his handy dandy backpack.

Looks like it was a short trip - no luggage in tow.

And for not going to the gym, he is looking good. Running and farm fresh foods does a body good.

While headed back to LA, Duncan has been steadily working on getting Source Code ready for it's premiere at SXSW's Opening Night, March 11th. With 6 weeks to go the press is starting gear up.

In a interview with ComingSoon.net, Duncan talk about Jake bringing Source Code to him.

CS: You seem to be interested in the notion of the lead character being unsure of who they are. Can you talk about the relation there between "Moon" and "Source Code"?
Jones:
I don't know. I was definitely drawn to the project when I was first [brought up]. It wasn't something I wrote myself. In this case, I had a meeting with Jake about six months to a year before all this started. He had loved "Moon" and was interested in working with me and brought "Source Code" to me. He had it sent to me and I found it really fascinating. I loved the idea of working with him and it kind of just took off from there. As far as that as a theme, it's certainly nothing conscious. It's just something that I think, deep down, intrigues me and was there when I started making the film. But I guess there is a return to the unreliability of who people think they are.

In a previous interview Duncan spoke of Jake wanted to put some humor in the film, and touches on it here again.

CS: How much fun does the movie get to be? Is there much room for levity?
Jones:
That was one of the things that Jake and I were talking about right from the beginning. This could either go very dark or we could try to elevate it and bring some humor into it as much as possible. Jake's performance throughout this is very interesting. When we sort of realized that there was a humor to this whole event that we could bring into it. I get it. Some people don't really think of "Moon" as being that humorous, but I do. I actually find quite a lot of humor in that film. I think in this one as well, there's a lot of humor that comes out, sometimes at inappropriate times. That makes it even funnier to me.

Don't think PoP was the last movie Jake did that was influence by a video game.

There's a shot in "Source Code" where I wanted to get a "Grand Theft Auto" shot. It was appropriate for the moment. I thought it was funny. It's visceral and exciting. It's Jake jumping out of a train and tumbling down a platform. It's something that you could shoot in a really traditional way and that you could cut into a way from to get the coverage. Or you could shoot it "Grand Theft Auto" style and actually see him tumbling down the platform all the way. I wanted to do that shot and it was definitely games influencing my sensibilities.

It's not all fun and game there are some more serious influences to Source Code.

CS: There's a common theme in science fiction of perspective and of returning to an event time and again. What films jump to your mind as having inspired you in the making of "Source Code"?
Jones:It's strange because they're not really obvious ones. Certainly not ones that directly reference that sort of mechanic. There's a lot of Hitchcock and De Palma. We were trying to have the sensibilities of old Hitchcock movies.

CS: You mentioned Brian De Palma, who also has, while it's not science fiction, a lot of characters unsure of their identities.
Jones:
In this case, it wasn't really about films I had seen in the past that made me want to see this film. I think it was about the opportunity to be a bit surreal. To do something where some of my influences were Lucien Freud and a certain period of Picasso cubist paintings. I wanted to create visuals of things that I hadn't seen in film before. I wish I could show you some of the stuff later on because it does get really weird. It was more visual things that I wanted to do. When I was reading the script, I guess I did sense that there were certain scenes reflective of "Moon," but it was really about getting an opportunity to do something visually where I otherwise may never have the chance to do that. So I think, for me, that was the really fun bit.

High and Low

Jake and Austin have hit the friendly skies in opposite directions for press. Jake's doing "Drugs" Down Under and Austin going Global Green in the Big Apple.

As fliers they seem like ying and yang.

Jake is has admited his is not the best flier and take a little more high maintenance to have a successful flight.

A new haircut, a cozy cashmere zip hoodie sweater that would make Mr. Rogers jealous, he's ready to fly with a rolling case of Rescue Remedy drops, Earplanes ear plugs, Ipad, and of course his chain.

Austin seems to just roll up and jump on and go.

Snapping pictures, commenting about his fellow passengers, what happens when you don't answer in English in a emergency row, and various body parts and snacks and sundries being squished. He will always need more leg room, and for some flights an Ambien but that's about it.

But can you imagine if Jake tweeted about flying?

Wonder Jake took a little menorah with him to celebrate.

After such a long flight this Zen menorah might be the choice.

Happy Hanukkah!

The Friendly Skies

Farewell Los Angeles. Back to work in North Carolina. The pilot said I could come into the cockpit and honk his horn. Very worried. - AUS10
"Austin, do you like movies about gladiators? "

That's one way to earn your wings.

But didn't you already get a pair from somebody?

[Insert your own upright and locked position joke here]

Tonight on the Crazy Tree

Feats of Clay and his new kidney are sprung from the hospital while soulmate bestie Nathan still mulling over walking away from the NBA. (Does he love Slamball that much? Oh don't do it Schwahn and make him an agent with Feats) BrookeDavis(TM) and BigBadMamaDrama disagree on how to handle the company’s financial problems. BrookeDavis(TM)wants to sell it all off and render herself penniless and then throw herself on the floor to make sure people will know all ofba her sacrifices. Mama realizes she didn't have to go to the pokey if BrookeDavis was going to pull this sh..stuff.

Chase discovers a secret about Alex (Would say secretly married but thing this summer was far from secret). And for taking it past the crazy train this week Mya gets a voodoo doll of Alex to give a little bad juju to her for dating Chase. The Real Housewife of Tree Hill sees the crazy potential and suggests a road trip to get her out of the Big Tree and head for the forest, Oregon. (HINT: Crossover episode with Life Unexpected following OTH) BrookeDavis wonders if she can get something that could speed up the slow shrinking pair as fast as they did with Michael Keaton head in Beetlejuice.

And Julian, where'd he go? Unless there are 2 minutes he walked on for, looks like he was in the Motor City that week, and revving his engine that weekend.

But word to Julian, might want to start collecting those shiny dimes, the water that hasn't pass through pipes and head out to Tree Hill's cemetery. It might not ward of the juju but maybe you can find Dan Scott to bring something wicked this way comes back to the Crazy Tree.

I would like to announce that there is nothing going on. If you want further information on what I am not doing please check my two twitter accounts, Facebook and blog.

And your Two Wheel Tuesday moment.

Frequent Flier

Now with extra charges, less leg room, flight attendants taking rides on emergency slides and all those delays, you need every tip you can get to make your trip enjoyable.

Austin has racked up some frequent flier miles over the past few years, so who better to give some tips to having the best trip you can without Rescue Remedy drops over ice and special earplugs.

(Courtesy of a young Austy's guest appearance on She Spies)

Present your ticket to the flight attendant with a smile.
And for some their inhaler. They might feel sorry for you. Probably not.

Quickly get to your seat before they charge a fee for holding up the plane.

As much as you love your backpack/carry-on/purse/laptop, they can't have their own seat, unless they have their own ticket. And no savesies. You payed for the randomly selected seat they've shoved you in, it's extra if you want a choice.

Now for the pre-flight check list.

You could go with this but I would go with the emergency air mask in case there's a loss of cabin pressure. You only get two puffs with this, that bag has at least 6.

You never really know when you are allowed to take your seat belt off, it gets confusing, so keep you hands on the buckle so you can buckle and unbuckle continuously. And everyone around you loves that clicking sound, especially after the 43rd time in less that 2 minutes.

Up in the Air:
If you got a sleeper next to you try to get the flight attendant's attention.

Make sure to point out they're a drooler, it might not help get you a new seat, but at least a couple of napkins. And that's a win.

To make it an adventure, play reading roulette, and read the first thing you pull out of the seat back pocket. Ooooo duckies.

You can try to get a drink or bag of pretzels, but don't recommend saying the tequila worm you swallowed the previous night needs to be fed. It doesn't work.

Smile. It might get you a date, which sometimes is easier to get than that full can of Coke, or complimentary pretzels.

After you land:Keep your eye on the disembarking passengers if the row a head of you is asleep kick the back of the chair so they get up. Those 14 seconds you might lose waiting could make the difference between getting out of the plane, and getting out of the plane 14 seconds faster.

And last tip. Watch your head, if you're over 5 feet tall or you have a hat size over a kid's medium you're going to smack your head at least once during your flight. You might look into wearing a protective helmet, like I have.

Now go. Go, Fly like the wind.
