The story line is that he drove to the apt, then he suddenly lost all his clothes and they hooked up. And got a  full beard in just minutes (insert your own joke here)

 they only other person who can tricky beard magic on camera is Jake... ohhh yeah.....hmmmm.

 And well because .... just because you may need to see it again. ; )

How New York of You

Last weekend Jake attended the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s annual Art + Film gala,  and to Jake it was more like New York West.

 He told the Wall Street Journal " 'It’s a very New York party,' observed the slimmer than usual actor Jake", as he declined a cheese puff from a cater waiter. ( Just like those upper East Side ladies who lunch, but don't eat)

“At least a lot of the New York crowd is here.”

Another observation of Jake from the event was that he didn't seem to mind walking the red carpet alone. But he wasn't alone in that club, it seemed like he had another member in the solo guy club in Leo DeCaprio, who did the  same thing.

You'd think it if was a New York crowd wouldn't your "cooking mentee" fit right in? If you have a model this is one of those places you'd think you'd want to bring them. To walk a long narrow walkway and stand among beautiful things. They don't need to even practice.  Guess not. But know fear Jake ran into old friends.

Guess that mentor/mentee thing is only a one way deal, because Jakey a good model will tell you never have the base foundation on you face darker than the color of your hands.

 The event  honored Martin Scorsese and David Hockney,  is quickly becoming one of the best parties of the year in LA. Which is quite the feat with all the parties, premieres and events that happen in LA.  But it was all for a good cause raising over $4 million for LACMA’s film initiatives and future exhibitions.

Out Spotlight

Today's Out Spotlight  is a transgender author of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. His writings explore sexuality and gender identity, and have included lesbian erotica and works about BDSM subculture. Today's Out Spotlight is Patrick Califia.

Patrick Califia was born female on March 8, 1954 and raised by Mormon parents in Corpus Christi, Texas.  His father was an itinerant road-construction worker and he moved his family from job to job. His mother was a housewife. Califia was the oldest of six children. He started writing stories and poems in his youth. He graduated a year early from high school and matriculated to the University of Utah. While in college, Califia—who was still living as a woman—came out as a lesbian to his parents in 1971. They placed him in a mental institution.

In 1973, Califia moved to California and joined the women’s liberation and anti-war movements. He joined the lesbian separatist movement, but was rejected for his interest in S&M. In 1978, Califia cofounded a lesbian S&M group.

In 1980, his book “Sapphistry: The Book of Lesbian Sexuality” was published. He wrote many works on gender theory, erotica and LGBT issues. He received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling from San Francisco State University. 

He received Lambda Literary Awards for his short story collection, “Macho Sluts” (1988), his novel “Doc and Fluff: The Dystopian Tale of a Girl and Her Biker” (1990) and his columns published in The Advocate Adviser (1991). In 1997, he wrote “Sex Changes: The Politics of Transgenderism,” chronicling gender nonconforming identities through historical and social perspectives. 

In 1999, at the age of 45, Califia transitioned from female to male, noting that “neither one is really a very good fit for me.”

Califia has published over 20 books. He is a marriage and family therapist practicing in California.

“By coming out to ourselves, we free up the energy we spent keeping a part of ourselves hidden.”

Jumping Into the Ring?

The Wrap is reporting that  Jake is in talks to star in the boxing drama “Southpaw,” for the Weinstein Company.

 Harvey Weinstein picked up the movie that at one time had Eminem attached to star in it.  “Southpaw” was originally sold as a pitch to DreamWorks, who hired “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter to write the script.   "When DreamWorks tapped out, MGM swooped in planning to distribute through Sony, though the film was eventually put into turnaround, which is where the Weinstein Company rescued it."

If  the deal goes through, Jake will play a left-handed prizefighter who wins a title but suffers a tragedy soon after and must put his life back together to earn the respect of his young daughter.

While the film is set against the backdrop of the boxing ring, with Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day”) set to direct. In an previous interview, Fuqua previously told the LA Times that “the heart of the movie is about a man learning to be a father.”

 “Southpaw” is expected to start production next year.

Slipping into the Ocean(a)

Austin might have been spotted in New York City earlier this week but it looked like he slipped back into LA and to an event for the cause Oceana.

It seems like the event was  less splash and flash. Just Jared posted about the event but reading the site post about the event you'd think only ladies attended it.

Oceana's "mission is to protect and restore the world’s oceans. The organization works to ensure that the oceans are biodiverse, resilient, and able to feed the billion people worldwide who depend on seafood for their sustenance."

Back in 2002 Oceana merged with Ted Dansen's water conservation and protect cause, America's Ocean Campaign. Ted continues his support serving on the board since the two groups became one.

You might remember Jake went to a few Oceana events in the past.

What the hey....

Austin doesn't seem that comfortable.   So what's going on ?

Did she want to get a pic with a guy who looks her daughter's (Dakota Johnson) new co-star (Jamie Dornan) in 50 Shades of Grey to show what it would be like if they had pick her instead? (Mel - if you were trying to play Dakota's part - that's different kind of grey all together)

Did she even know him?  Or is another one of those recent "moments" captured on camera?

Does he know Dakota? And is just being nice to a friend's mom?

Is she on a mission?  Is she trying to recruit him to WME?

Is Austin thinking about and afraid of what Antonio might do?


 But answer we do know is - if Austin's in LA... Jake's in LA.

Night at the Round Table

Jake along with fellow actors Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker, Michael B. Jordan and Josh Brolin are featured on the cover of the November 8th issue of The Hollywood Reporter.

The trade's annual series kicked off with a candid conversation featuring the six award winning actors discussing what it's like to be an actor in Hollywood from Brazilian waxes, deals, lousy auditions, mistakes and sacrifices.

And some of Jake's answers:

Let's start with a question about reinvention. How do you not get stale?

JAKE: Bills.

[OMG Note - how many bills does a "bachelor" who looks like he only owns 3 different pairs of pants and 5 different shirts have?]

Have you ever thought of quitting?

JAKE: [Smiles.] It's only appropriate as an indulgent actor to think about quitting 'cause it's such an intense job.

Jake on his biggest mistake:

"The biggest mistake that I've made is not really admitting to myself that filmmaking is a director's medium. We all get into situations where we're working with people, and we try to control that. [But] I realized, once I'm gone, that's going to be this director's vision from here on out. I did that in the past a lot, and now, giving all of that up is such a beautiful and relieving thing."

On the family business:

"My family has been in the movie business — my weirdly extended and immediate family. The movies are such a big part of our interactions. It makes me anxious being around a table here because this particular scenario just makes me feel like the dinner table. (Laughs.)"

And Jake as Frodo? Really?!?!???

“I remember auditioning for The Lord of the Rings [the role of Frodo] and going in and not being told that I needed a British accent. I really do remember Peter Jackson saying to me, ‘You know that you have to do this in a British accent?’ We heard back it was literally one of the worst auditions.”
