Hello, Thank you, Nice to meet you

Broadway is celebrating tonight with the Tony Awards but OMG is celebrating something even bigger than a Tony that's also Broadway related.

When OMG met Jake on Broadway.

Yes met Jake - not just going seeing Jake on Broadway in Sunday in the Park with George (which made this fan so proud of your performance) - but met you Jakey.

(Waiting Jake's team to have a moment or the vapors or a scream or scrambling like it's DEFCON 1)

Jakey we met at the stage door after a matinee.


 

I had seen the show the night before and your performance was moving - your love of acting and the interplay of the energy of the audience apparent - your singing top notch - you claimed your seat at the Broadway table with Sondheim!

You came out that afternoon and were kind gracious to sign autographs.
 
 

And standing right there you  never even know that Special K was in front of you asking you to sign her Playbill and thanking you in return.

The world didn't stop spinning, nothing exploded, it was just a moment between a fan and a performer they've admired for years.

My Old Kentucky? Texas? Georgia? Cali? New York? Home

It's Derby Day.   And you know that means that Mr. Southern Comfort (or Wild Turkey if you want to split hairs) is celebrating somewhere.

Austy is that you in that pink topper?

Or maybe you are just doing your best Molly Ringwald movie homage at home.   Remind us again where that is?  Oh yeah that's right.    Perhaps even for a New York minute.

Missed Independence

 Nightcrawler is the type of film that the Independent Spirit is about: small and smartly made, not originally funded by a studio, edgy, taking risks in storytelling that the studio system wouldn't risk.

The success of  Nightcrawler has carried past the critic's reviews and on to acclaim at the Independent Spirit awards.

Attending the awards director Dan Gilroy and his wife (and Jake's co-star) Rene Russo were the biggest representative of Nightcrawler.

At the awards Nightcrawler won two:

BEST FIRST FEATURE (Award given to the director and producer)

Sadly Jake was not there but back in NYC with Constellations which ends its run in mid March.

While Jake was able to attend the Golden Globe in January,  it is interesting that he was unable to attended the biggest weekend in Hollywood.  For all the talk about him making film choices to position himself back into the award race, his absence is notable.

If he was really campaigning wouldn't he be in LA? ( Check this out about Oscar campaigning)  Maybe not presenting an award since his movie wasn't nominated, at it would be a bit awkward, but at least a part of the Academy scene.

Even more so the Independent Spirit award.  They are Jake's sweet spot, he came up an indie darling, and it is those films and that indie spirit where he really shines.  Jake's success is wrapped in independent films, and it is there where he could have the freedom both on and off screen that could bring him work-life balance.

 I woke up early to finish The Goldfinch, by Donna Tartt. Impressive woman and writer from Mississippi. Wow.  - AUS10

Sometimes it's easy to forget that there is a reason for OMG a bit bigger than just a little blog that friends stop by to talk about Jake and Austin.

OMG wants to keep the reminder of their story from past to present.  So to that point OMG's going revisit and keep posting all those pictures, that seem to be getting "lost" out there in the big gossip round up.

Ring Ring

It's going to be a busy weekend for Jake with heading out to the Golden Globes and all, so Constellation has a break for a couple of days of break.

But Jake didn't rush out to LA on Friday and get a jump on the jet lag.  (I mean where would he stay he sold his house, right?  Please) On want to go to those Golden Globe parties at least on Friday night.

So where was he?  Friday night Fight night.   NY and at Roc Nation Sports Presents: Throne Boxing.

Not  necessarily dress up but was definitely buttoned up, all the way up for the event. 

Socks, socks, underwear, socks, lucky underwear, black socks, stress relief drops...backpack......how could I forget my backpack.... oops has the fight started?

Curl up and Dye

Last week Jake was all button up walking around town

Then after leaving rehearsals eagle eyes noticed something a little different with his hair (after noticing that super warm  Irish wool sweater he was sporting)

But it was definitely obvious in these pictures from this week of Jake leaving after lunch at Bar Pitti.

Jake's not only sporting some darker locks but with a twist.  From the pictures it looks like Jake has bit of a body wave perm up top.

Wonder if he was inspired

But don't let me him talk you into straightening it back at home.

Man, Hamm and Gotham

Jake attended the 24th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in NYC,  which are one of two major awards ceremonies dedicated to independent film, the other being the Independent Spirit Awards (which are annually held the day prior to the Oscars).

His Constellation co-star Ruth Wilson popped in a couple of pictures with Jake on the red carpet.

While Nightcrawler was nominated for several awards, it was shut out in the East, Jake did get his hands on one when he presented Julianne Moore with the award for ‘Best Actress’.

While Jake loves awards,  it seems like there is something even better he likes from his reaction.

 You think he wanted to ask John who's hammer is better?  His (Hamm's) or Thor's?

Spotted out

Jake, his co-star Ruth Wilson and director Michael Longhurst attended a photocall for ‘Constellations’ at the Manhattan Theatre Club Rehearsal Studios in NYC.

‘Constellations’ will begin previews December 16th for a January 13th opening night at MTC’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in NYC.

Tickets for the play have gone on sale.
