Looks likes Jake was doing the Planes,(Austin) Trains (Boston) and Automobiles (New York) thing this past weekend. Ending up deep in the heart of Texas at Austin City Limits.
I wonder why? Was it Wilco calling, or just needing some Dylan?
Perhaps.
Or could it be he wanted to catch up with his favorite Austinite?

Wow, how cool that Jake is now in Austin! :) He has been a busy boy this week. ;) Now hopefully he will get to see Austin in Austin. ;D
Btw, thanks to WDW, we have a totally adorkable picture of Jake in Michael Stipe's glasses and for Special, Jake in a Red Sox cap! See it HERE. And I am totally excited to hear about the Jake/Tobey M movie!
I hope this Jake sighting is true. (The troll is frantically trying to discredit it on WFT.) I'd hate to think of semi-naked Austy wandering around sexily and nobody appreciating it :-)
ITA, convinced. Hey, but even if Jake wasn't there I bet a lot of other people appreciated the view.

Love the Jake in Austin sightings! Plus, great Austin pics. And I keep smiling when I see the pic of him in Michael Stipe's glasses. :) I have to say I love his look with the short hair and scruff a lot!
The girl in the blue/black stripes definitely looks related to Austin. They share facial features but I can't put her as the same girl in the white top because white top girl looks broader.
Thank you for posting the link to the second blog--clearly Jake was there (maybe he came on Sunday?) for ACL.
What makes me laugh is the insistence on WFT that Austin had nothing to do with Jake's presence there--it was all about ACL--plus how we do know Jake even saw Austin?
But if this were Reese instead of Austin at ACL and these Jake sightings happened, the fangurls would be gushing about the Jeese trysts.

It seems like Jake did make the trip on Sunday. Again I don't think it was about the lineup at ACL that had him flying down after such a busy weekend. I think there was someone not on the lineup that was the real draw.
Is there a name we can call you? A name is so much cooler than a number -although I agree with George Constanza Seven is a kind of a great name. Even if you pick it for one post, one hour or one day.

And Jake in Frames, how honking huge are those glasses on his face. But I do have to say I have a real soft spot for "boys with bad eyes". If you hit the yesterday's Frames picture and see Mario Batali's picture in them, you have to laugh at the difference between the fit on Mario's face and Jake's.
I made this special request in the previous thread by mistake: how about playing "Happy Together" in honor of their little ACL "reunion"?

Jake definitely has a chain around his neck in the pic with the Red Sox cap. I wonder what is hanging on the end. A possible matching band. If we see Jake with a ring around his neck like the one Austin has on I would jump for joy.
I only have the original in mind now, by The Turtles or something? Not sure though...
Maybe that hanging ring will mean more shirtless pics. Let's hope! :D
Special, yes the frames are big on Jake, especially compared to Mario. I can't imagine, Michael Stipe, who is so tiny compared to Jake, wearing those big suckers, LOL.
One of the anon posters on WFT emailed Michael Barnes, the Austin360 blogger, to ask about the Jake sighting and the time discrepancy. Here's his answer:
On the time discrepancy:

On the Jake sighting:

I'm not actually 100% sure just going on that one picture. Of course, the person who tok the picture probably had a better view.
Frenchy and Special, I had this song running through my mind over the weekend, and I almost requested it! One of my favorite happy in love songs, especially for J&A. ;)
Damn you Drew Barrymore for standing in the way of a possible Jake picture. I always liked her before this. ;-)
Well, the dark washed jeans, the build, the haircut -- to me it looks like Jake.

I also really think it looks like jake, but can`t be sure. Wish we could see his face:)
I'm not sure about that being Jake either, but who knows. Hope a more conclusive photo surfaces.
On the Austin front, there's still a chance that he may end up working with Milch again. We know that Milch loves working with the same actors on different projects and it seems that he and Austin really bonded while filming JFC. Here's some recent info from Willie Garson about a future project with Milch:
"As for future endeavors, the former “John From Cincinnati” star said he’s kept in contact with David Milch, the producer of HBO’s half-season flop and looks forward to working with him on a possible project early next year."
So Jake is going to end up being in a million different sightings on Sunday night and we won't get a photo of any of them so we'll never truly know.
The only definite thing is that Austin has taken off the big blue ring and replaced it with a less obvious ring around his neck.
If it's romantically based, the burning question is whether the rings are from the same person or the new ring is from a new person?

Now this is getting interesting:
We have multiple sighting of Jake in Austin in the evening. Pictures of him mid to late morning in NY. And now People magazine is saying this:

Now isn't it interesting that it took took two days for this to hit people, but only one day since it hit all over the Net that he was in Austin?
I also find the timing and the coincidence of the Il Sole sighting very interesting, Special. It's also making me wonder a bit about the date and time on the 9-16 brunch photos. I'd love for an identifiable photo of Jake at ACL to show up.

Love the Austin-Milch connection. I was just re-watching some JFC episodes recently and it would be so great if these two reunited (I also hope HBO puts JFC on DVDs).
So what's the consensus, one or two rings? I don't think I'll have the patience to use both singular/plural forms in future posts. :D
Of course, the wonderful Tom texted me about the Jake in Austin sightings. My internet access is limited so I can't look at them. Here are my criteria for a sighting to be credible- blogger does not seem to have an agenda of any kind and no extraordinary details to the sighting (like Jake and the sigther became best friends or something like that). Based on this criteria, is this one credible?
On Austin's chain? One ring. The shadow cast on his chest gives the illusion of a thicker ring, or two rings. If you look at that picture long enough, Frenchy, you'll see!
Back to this person who looks like Jake. The build is very similar, but facially he looks slightly different. But hard to be certain in profile. Anybody want to do an enlargement and comparison for us lazier posters? :-)

That sighting sounds credible to me but then again I did not pay close attention to times, flight durations, speed at which Jake ate at that restaurant, etc. like others did.

The People sighting sounds like PR to me. How did they know it was business, and isn't Sunday night a funny time for that. Il Sole is also the restaurant named in the Jeese birthday celebration. It's not like with Noah B. where Jake was probably just in town for a day or two. And I think the brunch if it occurred was probably early in the day. As I posted on WFT, I tried to go to August once on a Sunday, and it was already packed with a long line waiting for tables at 10:30 in the morning. Yes, I know Jake is a celebrity so the fact that they don't take reservations probably doesn't mean anything in his case, but I can't quite see Jake hanging around on the sidewalk like that for a table to open up just to go to breakfast.
As for the picture, I can't tell if it is Jake.

Yes. It does seem as if Austin would have a hard time finding cloths that fit. I think his waist is very tiny possibly 30? and his shoulders and chest are very wide. Hence the pants sliding down the hips... hm...

I think it is more an issue with the waist being tiny and him being very tall at the same time. So either the pants end up short, or too large!

Thanks for the Pirate Convention. I always thought Peter and cute and funny in that skit, which I haven't seen since it aired. On the other hand, boy is that gawker article mean. Sounds like maybe the writer is a bit jealous. But I got to finish the posts on a high after seeing the new Austy picture. It is nice that people other than us Tbers are giving Austin some fan love.
I think there is a lot of Austy love out there. I love the one blogger (AV Onion) that said he seemed really approachable.
The people who he works with love him, TB's love him and now more people are finding out how great he is.

Special, someone on HBO said he'd be sure to get work with Milch again because he took direction so easily. I love reading good things about Austin :)

Can't say I blame him.
I think ACL will go down as one of those things that we hope Jake was at but won't really know.
But everytime I look at this picture of Drew Barrymore, I'm saddened because I realise we've spent the best part of a year on Brentwood Barbie when we could have been talking about a real woman. One who isn't afraid to fail, one who isn't afraid to show her flaws. One who doesn't need a perfect image to sell her movies.
So sad.
Of course it's possible Jake was at ACL, to see Austin, see his friends and see Wilco and other bands he might like. Where's the mystery? And of course it's in PR's interests to put him anywhere BUT at ACL or anywhere near Mr Nichols, and have him safely in LA at Il Sole probably non-existent meetings waiting for Reese with a rose in his mouth.
It's just cat and mouse all the time in this game.
Austin is very proud of (both) his rings. Sweet.
