Not the typical picture you think of when you think of Brokeback, but one that captures more than the scene.
For many Brokeback was what brought them to become Jake fans. His performance as Jack Twist was done with such open honest emotion how could people not be drawn to him. Looking back now there is so much more that was happening in his real life that that helped mold his role on screen . Reflecting on it now you can see how much Jake was trying to say in his interviews and awards.
Brokeback was not just an artistic journey but personal one for Jake. A different journey than any other movie he had done up until then and will do in the future. The months proceeding and following its opening showed Jake at his happiest it seems. There was a sense of freedom in his life. For that brief time in early 2006 was when he felt he could share more than ever, even with more eyes than ever turned on him.
Now it seems the fences have been put up. Trying to corral him in. Will there ever be that freedom again?

OMG - How did you guys evah find this song? You never cease to amaze. It's one of my favorites by K.D. - I was dustin' off ma old K.D. Lang CDs t'other nite when ya said it was Queer Musicians' Month, and I found Absolute Torch and Twang and played this song about over and over again on the way to work. It does sound like our Jack, doesn't it? BTW, thanks for this beauteous pic of him. Let's hope someone else who is very close to Jack Twist gets hisself back in the saddle again and rides off into the sunset quick! (Sorry, I watched Larry McMurtry's and Diana Ossana's Comanche Moon last night too!) lol Got ourselves a blizzard here today too. :)
Random thoughts on the cell pics.
It makes me uneasy to watch em for several reasons. They were together at new year's eve (where they even taken at the place and time the claim to have been taken??)--- isn't that too much, even for bearding (is there such a thing as going too far when u are bearding??)? And hence, if it's real, then it's even more annoying. I'm getting more and more put off with jake everyday.
I don't mind him sitting on the fence. In fact, I think it was the best strategy for him, but obviously, Evelyn didn't think so. I just hope he didn't fall off the fence and onto the wrong side. The side that requires him to be someone he's not.
btw, slight OT, but reading gofugyourself is my guilty pleasure and today they have this attached to a Reese covered Marie Claire:
Or maybe she's just upset because she lost a sizable bet to Jake Gyllenhaal that Marie Claire would pull together only 350 hot spring looks this year. It'll be okay, though, Reese -- if Jake's that attuned to the mag, then you could still win out, as he'll surely he'll flip through that poorly titled article being pimped just above the masthead, called "What Makes Men Propose." Because nothing is sexier or more strong and independent than trying to understand what to do to MAKE your man propose, right? So cheer up, and let's socially regress together!

Who says that they were engagaged? A few obscure blogs? The only legit place that it was "reported" was the SF Chronicle and they got it from some silly blog. Probably made up after one of them saw her wearing that ring.
None of the rags this week mention engagement just him bonding with the kids and that they are in talks to star in that lame comedy Valentines day. If there is an actual engagement it will be pimped to Us or People or one of the better known blogs.
Even the girls on IHJ think it's BS, don't tell me you fell for it, geez.....
Those NY photos won't make me commit tb hara-kiri - yet! If I saw a girl and a guy sitting with some physical contact like in one of the pics yeah, I would assume they were a couple - just like the Laker I pics with Jake and Austin wedged together made me think of them as a couple.

Something Very Important for All Who Post Here
It has come to my attention that some folks have copied and pasted accounts of tabloid stories from the Gyllenbabble blog here. I would like to request that if you want to post a tabloid story, go directly to the source and buy the tabloid yourself, rather than relying on a secondhand account. I don't think we should trust other blogs' write-ups of hardcopy information. We don't know if the information is accurate and/or truthful. Other blogs could even fabricate a tabloid story in the hope that we will fall for it. In the future I would ask that people who post tabloid stories state what their source for the story is, whether the account posted is verbatim, and whether it is the full story or excerpted.

AG in reply to your post about Jaustin, I can say that in my case they are taking a back seat because of lack of info on the Austin front and also because of some recent signs of "disengaging" (good one too Netb!) from Jake. I have to admit I'm paying more attention to Reeke these days as I do not agree with that distancing and I fervently hope to be proved wrong once and for all. :)
On the other hand, I agree with those who asked you to post details about the article you mentioned. It's particularly interesting to hear about that in the midst of that massive and tentative brainwashing Reeke campaign.

I think everyone's suspiciouns about the NYE pics are valid. The pic properties say they were taken 01/01/1980 (prob a mistake?) at 12:00 am and 12:02 am (like right after the kissing lol?). If you look at them at higher magnifications, Reece's face looks weird, Jake's chin is shaped wrong (part of it is missing), Jake's sleeve is not proportionate to Reece's face, lots of things like that.
But in case the pics are real, so what. I'd expect them to spend NYE together (1) in public as part of an agreement or (2) as friends who have driven away all their other friends.
So they never spent NY with the kids then?
If you ever get depressed about the machinations of pr, can I suggest that you head over to Goggle trends. Do a search to compare Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears for Jan 2008. The results are to say the least quite amusing.
Blabbing on about ambiguous, staged photopics and National Enquirer/ trash gossip headlines suggesting the fictional possibility of a marriage is much more flattering to Reeke than talking about the collapse of Type-A's picture deal with Universal, or the vagueness of Jake's future movie plans. And of course, Reeke say nothing about the trash magazine rumors, tacitly encouraging them to continue. They also avoid saying anything to respectable, reputable magazines.
Ryan Phillippe was weird, but at least he came out and quashed rumors about a possible reunification with Reese.

The interior (the seats) are the Disney seats, but it's weird how they really don't "flow right" in the pic at high mag. and reece is wearing the huge diamond which has since disappeared from the latest pics of her.

A distinctive memory I have a K.D Lang's is my friend Mark's special edition of her cover of the Valley of the Dolls theme.

Just thinking about these NY cell phone photos. Usually cell phone photos are not as blurry as these. The Jeese and kids pic taken @ the aquarium is also supposed to be a cell phone picture, and it's much clearer than a cell phone picture should be. Something is not right here.
The NYE pics were taken with a camera without flash, which would account for the ISO speed being off. Digital cameras often include a control for adjusting the ISO speed; some will adjust it automatically depending on the lighting conditions, adjusting it upwards as the available light dims. Generally, as ISO speed climbs, image quality drops.

The correct French translation for "good luck" is "bonne chance".

The word "bon" is a masculine adjective and "bonne" is a feminine adjective. Since the word "chance" in French is a feminine noun you have to use a feminine adjective to go with it, hence the mistake made by Ted when he used the masculine "bon" instead of the feminine "bonne".

I remember the musical passage you mentioned in the previous thread (Graysmith meeting Avery's replacement) and I agree Shire's score is gripping. And all the songs actually contribute to the atmosphere and never ever steal the show (a big big plus in my book). This was my fifth viewing of the film and I still noticed little details that made me stupidly happy, like that guy smoking in the background when the cops are on the cab driver murder scene. I don't know why but I found the smoke coming from his cig kind of dreamy, lol!!!

Ok, that's wild because I noticed him for the first time on this latest viewing, too! lol. It's one of the most visually rich films I've ever seen, and having it to own and view as many times as you like is pretty incredible. In this case, it feels like having a expensive painting in your house. There's a Fisher-Price wind-up toy clock in the Graysmith house that you see in a couple of shots and I noticed it on my first theatre viewing. I had that clock as a child and still do. :) Did you also catch in the commentary where they point out Brian Hartnell's sons and Hartnell and his wife as extras? One of the producer's pointed out his bit part, too.
And I loved RDJ calling Robert Graysmith Bobby Gray. I could listen to him wax on all day. :)
I freaked out when I heard this k.d. song, I hadn't heard it probably since it was actually out as a single. Gorgeous. She looked totally amazing during that time, too.

I'm no expert on cameras, but don't you think the quality should have been much better if it was taken with a camera vs. a phone? After all he was sitting close enough to analyze the colors used to achieve her hair color. I wonder what the pixel rating is on that camera. The pic reminds me of that infamous july 4 pic that was poorly photoshopped so it seemed Jake was not alone with Austin.

Thanks, 'not lost in translation' for pointing out that the camera info is in the properties of the pic. Exactly where i got it from. People forget where to find data I guess. but yeah, that can be faked too i suppose. i agree that the pic should have been better, and how the image looks weird under high magnification. either somethings been faked/photoshopped or Canon cameras should be avoided.
Just on the article about Jaustin etc, I saw it on Saturday on my way to catch a plane so I don't know if it was this week's or last week's magazine. I'll have a look tomorrow to see if I can find it.
