It's been a full 24 hours plus for Jake at his first official SXSW. Interviews, chats, cocktail party, premieres, panels and lots of Q's in the Big A.
Jake hit the ground running in his favorite Hoyle Jackson Raw Resin Jeans and a Hoyle Jackson Utility Work shirt , so much a favorite it looks like he wore it again today.
With lines running around the corner at the Paramount everyone was excited for Jake and for Source Code. (some a little more eager to take pictures than others)
Jake looked great relaxed and happier than we've seen on the last premieres. It looks like Austin suits him to a T.
A million dollar smile.
Jake seemed to radiate on the red carpet.
It's good to see it back.
Charming as ever he seemed to have tap into some Southern charm, charming the crowd including local reporter for the Austin Statesman Michael Barnes.
Outside of Kyle Chandler — whom Austin claims as our own — Jake Gyllenhaal may be the most intimidatingly charming actor in show business.
Even on a red carpet in front of the Paramount Theatre amid the screeches of adoring fans, he focuses just on you. His eyes do not wander. He answers question after question with the deft intelligence of a trusted advisor, but the down-to-earth quality of the star next door.
“I love the artistic aspect of Austin,” he said about his frequent visits here. “It’s a city but also a town. And unlike elsewhere, everyone at this festival is kind.”
After the movie there was a Q&A with the cast, Duncan and writer Ben Ripley. Jake seemed in good spirits despite an incident in the men's room (quickly becoming legendary before the morning) between the movie and Q&A.
EW.com did get a chance to ask him about the incident this morning.
EW: There are rumors that there was a rather heated scuffle in the theater bathroom last night as a fan tried to take your picture at an inelegant time?
JG: (laughs) That’s true. I think it’s an appropriate space to keep privacy. I hope that people wouldn’t disagree with me on that.
Jake went on to deftly handle the press, fans, and all the questions not looking the worse for wear.
A plot of time travel and terrorism wrapped up in a sci-fi action story had some movie goers trying to get their bearings about the story. Don't think they expected Jake to die so soon and so often or it different ways. Wonder if anyone has done the Colter death count yet. (Can't you see it becoming a drinking game with the sci-fi and college crowds? )
And what does Jake think about doing Sci Fi?
“There’s always a bit of science fiction going on in my mind when I’m creating a character. We create our own roles when we act in science fiction, so you can make any choice you want.” Austin 360
Some will buy into the story others will be scratching their heads about what the ending is saying and some the plot devices. But the ask Jake what he took from the story, he get's philosophical.
"For his part, Gyllenhaal talked about some of the philosophical implications he drew from the story, which he said finds a metaphorical way to explore 'the little births and deaths we experience every day.' ” - THR
After having to rescheduling his early morning interviews, Jakey arrived (albeit it a bit late) at the 11:00 panel discussion for Source Code. And the rest of the day was back on track.
Wonder if he had any time to check out Austin.; )

This has to be one of the best pictures from SXSW

Excerpt from The Film Stage review:
"Despite essentially replaying the same scenario over and over, Source Code is entertaining as hell, on par with most of the tentpole blockbusters that get shoved down our throats every summer. Unlike those movies however, this one is not only entertaining in an action sense, but it also works the brain and contains some good acting. Gyllenhaal’s character is the only one with any real meat to it and he’s plays it beautifully; heroic in the right spots and empathetic when the time calls for it. One can’t help but root for him through the whole movie. He commands the screen and the role, and as much as I hate to admit it, he was great. Really great."

What Happens When You Try To Take Picture Of Jakey Gyllenhaal Peeing
Another accurate headline for this would be: What happens when you try to take a picture of anyone outside of a golden showers convention peeing. I don't think most people would want to take a picture of ANY peen spitting out piss into a urinal. Peeing peen is usually soft, vulnerable and well, it's got fucking piss coming out of it! It's safe to say that most of us wouldn't pinch our nipples and lick our lips to that. Well, not while we're sober anyway. But some NOT RIGHT ho at SXSW in Austin tried to do just that to Jake Gyllenhaal at the screening for his movie Source Code last night. Bitch forced Jakey to pinch it short! Hollywood News (via Towleroad) has the details of this pissy mess:
...I've got enough questions to break a urinal cake with. I mean, who does that?! What if Jakey ate asparagus for lunch and his piss fumes cracked the camera?! How can Jakey's penis mouth smile for the camera when it's in the middle of something? Who exactly was the pissing tom planning to sell these pictures to? Urine Weekly? The R. Kelly Review? And did Jakey put his dick away before grabbing at the dude? Because if he didn't, that would be the golden picture right there. I swear, some dumb bitches just don't know how to do things!
And are we sure the dude with the camera wasn't John Travolta?
LOLLLL! Leave it to Michael K. I had a feeling he would love that story. lol
And did Jake put it away. LOL.
Forced him to pinch it off.
That guy is something else. Just what I needed to finish jolting me awake this morning.
Hate losing an hour.
Well, don't you just love this line.

Gotta love this one, too.
KU taking it to the Texas Longhorns!!!
The Hawks winning the Big 12 Tournament last night. I saw some Longhorn wear and flags on vehicles yesterday and people were scarce last night as the game wrapped up. It is indeed time for March Madness.
Did anyone catch this from Jake's interview with Austin 360?
“I love the artistic aspect of Austin,” he said about his frequent visits here. “It’s a city but also a town. And unlike elsewhere, everyone at this festival is kind.”
Now how many times do you have to come to be considered frequent.
I also think the everyone is kind is interesting too.
And in the interview with CNN, he talks about extending his stay for a few days in Austin.
Is anyone surprised?
The video with Pee Wee makes me laugh.
In all the pictures, and interviews Jake seems not serene -that's not the right word, but there is a sureness, a confidence, a sense that all the pieces in his life are all in the right place.
It's like Jake is not holding his breath, that he didn't don't he was holding this whole time.
To me that says that Austin is there in TX with him. He has everyone there with him and all is good.
Here's the tandem video to Jake explaining Pee Wee Herman.
Pee Wee explaining Source Code
The "bathroom brouhaha" somehow reminds me of the DrunkenStepfather incident.
^Nobody's getting sued.
Think it was M&M who said this story was embellished (probably beyond all recognition) and that PR probably got their "take" on the incident too with that Hollywoodnews description of uberMasculine Jake grabbing and throwing his creepy attacker against the wall. Like Michael K so humorously points out, how did that exactly happen since Jake was supposed to be preoccupied. LOL!
Although it is a funny coincidence (it an odd sort of way) how the only two stories I can ever remember that even hinted about Jake being so provoked by the public that stories of a physical assault ensued, are related to this movie. The one in Toronto when he was filming Source Code and now the premiere in Austin.
Good point that both are linked to Source Code. So is it the movie's pr doing it? Or Jake's?
There are a lot of videos coming out of SXSW.

I saw this comment about the bathroom incident at Hitfix.com
There was some hubbub just before the Q&A for the film, when someone in the theater actually followed Gyllenhaal into a public restroom, then took a picture of him at the urinal. Gyllenhaal made the guy delete the picture and cops were indeed called to the theater, one of two such incidents I heard about happening tonight at the festival. Seems like everyone's a little rowdy as SXSW gets underway, but I hope that doesn't ruin the overall experience for the filmmakers, because it played beautifully in the room tonight.
Hitfix.com
So this happened to someone else too? And this is the first time I've read that the guy actually got the picture and was made to delete it.
Jake gave a response to local YNN about the whole thing.
Gyllenhaal responds to bathroom photographer
Ripley and cast members took the stage for a strangely off-kilter Q&A session after the screening.
“You’ve got eight minutes and 140 characters to review this film,” said Twitter freak Jones, to big laughs. “That was terrifying.”
At this point, Jones was at his most animate and mirthful, Gyllenhaal an even mixture of good-natured and exhausted (after a bizarre bathroom scuffle), and everyone else awkward and/or mute.
To be fair, the audience questions were largely of the non-question variety (“I thought you guys did a good job on the shots of the skyline”) and somewhat difficult to answer in any sort of rational way. By the end of the session everyone — especially Jones — looked incredibly relieved.

Jake Gyllenhaal was the victim of a serious Guy Code violation during a screening of his movie "Source Code" at SXSW -- when a guy tried to take his picture ... in the bathroom!
We're told Jake was in the restroom, doing his thing, when a guy snapped off a pic. Not cool!
Although there are rumors a fight went down, we're told Jake simply talked to the guy -- who understood his mistake -- and eventually the pic was deleted.
Guess the guy realized it was a sh*tty thing to do.
