Lose the lumber

Way back in 2008 OMG shared How to make a LumberJake.

And around that time the word Lumbersexual was added to the Urban Dictionary

A Metro-sexual who has the need to hold on to some outdoor based rugged-ness, thus opting to keep a finely trimmed beard. - Urban Dictionary 2008

(Although back in February 2004 someone had defined Lumbersexual on Urban Dictionary as:  “A male who humps anyone who gives him wood.” )

Who knew we were years ahead of the newest trend?

As fall becomes winter 2014,  Lumbersexual is popping up all over the media. And yes blame it on Brooklyn and all those bearded, plaid shirted, Carhartt jacketed, boot wearing, kambucha drinking, Soul Cycle/Yoga taking guys.

Sound like anyone OMG knows?

Now that lumbersexual has made it to Time Magazine - it takes it out of the trend and makes it more like a dying star.

With Jake seemingly always years ahead of the curve, does this mean in another two years, shiny parachute jackets will be peaking?

 Or the reverse tuxedo?

Or a duck blind masquerading as a coat?

 Or just a Jake-a-sexual?

A little dab will do ya

Everyone's seen it but and yet it looks like a bit of grey, but is Jake's ever going to admit that in an interview.  So for that reason, how about coming up ideas Jake will say his grey patch is.

Top Ten Things Jake exaggerate that his grey patch is

10.  His homage to Skunk Boy.

9.  Mayo vs. Miracle Whip - viral ad gone wrong.

8.  Got caught eating a Fluffernutter.

7.   Small hands, too many cookies. Thus became the Oreo incident.

6.  He's a Dead fan now.  (Touch of Gray)

5.  Cornstarch - to stop the chaffing.

4.  Rented out the patch to all natural hair care company as a test sample for dye your own at home.

3.  Someone rubbed the color right off!

2,   Another Austin hair experiment got wrong.

and  the number one thing Jake might say his grey patch is:

1. Yogurt ......... yeah that's what they call it

By Hair on Your Chinny Chin Chin

There is a new study shows that facial hair says a lot about a man and that attractiveness peaks at the "heavy stubble" phase.

Researchers published their finding in  the May issue of Evolution and Human Behaviors.

The Researchers photographed 10 men at four stages of beard growth: clean shaven, 5-day "light" stubble, 10-day "heavy" stubble (shown), and fully bearded.

Three hundred and fifty-one women and 177 heterosexual men viewed the photos and rated each face for attractiveness, masculinity, health, and parenting ability.

Women ranked heavily stubbled faces as the most attractive. Participants said that the clean-shaven men looked about as healthy and attractive as those with a full beard, but rated the bearded men higher for perceived parenting skills.

Light stubble got the short end of the stick, garnering low scores across the board from both men and women.

Does this mean multi - parenting?

Jake's team's now trying not to hurt themselves as they run to grab razors, clippers and lifetime passes to the Art of Shaving.

Speaking of beard busting.

These two picture were tagged the same day.  Notice anything?

Whisker Wars

It's Beard vs. Beard

Not that

This

Because it is looking Austin has upped his game under that helmet

Jake's  going for the natural beard category

Austin's got a little more control

On length you've got to give to Jake

On shape - it's a push

But on white whiskers

While Jake's got that patch that looks like he has a big of eggs left from breakfast or the Skunk Boy version of a beard  Austin has a little more white and more symmetry to his (when it's not Just for Men'd darkened)

Maybe we should just let the Austin Facial Hair Club decide who wins

or the guys could just ditch the beards for good.... and shave too.

 Happy Austin Friday!
