Dancing, dancing, dancing
He's a dancing machine

Rythmetic acrobatic
He's a dynamite attraction
At the drop of a coin he comes alive
Yeah
He knows what he's doing
He super bad now
He's geared to blow your mind

He's a dance, dance, dance, dance, dancing machine
Watch him get down, watch him get down

To The Left, To The Left

Last year it was mention about Jake playing a boxer in the film Southpaw, and it looks like it is going to roll this summer.

When Jake was at his thinnest during filming Nightcrawler OMG talked about what weight class Jake might box in but it looks like he should enjoy all those carb loving days in Rome, because it will be back to the gym and strict diets to get into fight shape - literally!

Jake will be playing a welterweight boxer in Southpaw which means his 6' frame will be between a lean 140 lbs (63.5 ) and 147 lbs (67 kg). Lots of lean proteins and veggies through the summer.

The movie, directed by Antoine Fuqua, was written by Kurt Sutter best know for the cable hit “Sons of Anarchy”. Originally written for Eminem but was shelved after Em decided to focus more on his music, the story "chronicles the rise of a lefty welterweight all the way to a championship title as he battles various tragedies in his personal life, and wins back the love of his daughter." It’s about boxing but it's not about boxing," director/pugilist Fuqua told the LA Times last year. "The heart of the movie is about a man learning to be a father."

The hunt is on for the co-lead role Titus ‘Tick’ Willis, a former boxer who retired after losing an eye, and following the death of his son.

The Weinstein Company picked up the rights to the movie, and are providing the funding. With Jake's solid performance in the last string of movies, and boxer story (The Champ, Rocky, Million Dollar Baby and The Fighter - all Oscar winners) and the support of the Weinsteins this project could go all ten rounds and come out a champion at award time.

Good news for those weary of the whiskers - no doubt Jake will be clean shaven for this one.

And in the never ending game of Where in Sprawl is Jake Gyllenhaal - where do you think this one will be filmed?

Think he asked Mike for some tips?

Talking about One's Enemy

While Jake is working in Italy there is still a movie to promote and earlier this year Jake went up to Toronto to sit down with well known Canadian talk show host George Stroumboulopoulos to talk about Enemy

Here are some of the clips:

A theme that both Jake and Denis have touched on is the intimacy of film making

and struggling with intimacy

Jake went on to talk about working with people who inspire him

And George ask Jake about his Electric Company connection

In addition to Jake's Vanity Fair interview  he sat down with the CBC's Q guest host Brent Bambury to talk about Enemy.  Denis earlier last fall said in an interview with Q that the movie really "gets into his leading man's real mind -- calling it a a documentary about the subconscious of Jake Gyllenhaal --- something the actor identifies with to a certain extent."

Jake call it more collective -"In a way, it's really about the exploration of all of our unconscious."   But which is it subconscious or unconscious there Jakey?

Something for everyone

Happy Shrove Tuesday and Happy Mardi Gras!

And just like the day the two different holidays associated with it represent the two fellas of our focus on OMG.

Shrove Tuesday - is all about the pancakes and who is the Pancake Man?

Jakey Jake.

He's talked about pancakes, has been seen out eating pancakes (even in NYC recently) and talked about that G's celebrate with pancakes.

While Jake surely loves a tall stack dripping

you know he goes for the Dutch Baby

And Mardi Gras is about everything over the top, big flashy jewelry, hell just flashing in general, hot and spicy, jolly drinks, having a great time and losing your shirt

Who does that sound like?

Something for everyone.

Fabulous Finger Oscar Picker

There's something nice when the large piece of faux to the left of Austin is the least accessory in the picture.

Austy sweetie! Loving that - and using one of your fav phrases - Big Ass cocktail ring you're sporting on your finger. Because if you have to drag  faux out on an industry night, it's only fair you get to wear a fabulous faux too. Because who are you kidding, everyone attends these soirees already knows who you're really with and having been coming with to the Oscar parties for the last 10 plus years.  (This year - the equivalent of taking your cousin to the prom)

Or is that gold band doing that for you? Making sure people know this man is off the market.  Nice to see it's back.

(You know it always goes with everything.)

Kind a like this fella.   Who's flashing his more and more.

Speaking of which - is this pic your shout out to your favorite picker?

One tip - if you guys want the universal symbol for I've gotta secret - it's tapping the OUTSIDE the nose with your finger. (Pass the word)

And you can see your mani better too.

Out Spotlight

Today's Out Spotlight was a renowned choreographer and director. He won four Tonys, two Oscars and an Emmy. Today's Out Spotlight is Jerome Robbins.

Born Jerome Rabinowitz on October 11, 1918, Robbins grew up in Weehawken, New Jersey. In 1937, he enrolled at New York University, but dropped out of college and began studying dance professionally.
By 1939, he was dancing in Broadway productions, notably “Great Lady” and “Keep off the Grass.” His career as a choreographer began in the Poconos, where he earned a reputation as an innovative perfectionist.

In 1944, Robbins created his first major dance composition, “Fancy Free,” a ballet that also marked his first collaboration with composer Leonard Bernstein. Its success brought recognition to both men and inspired their first full-length Broadway musical, “On the Town.”

In 1953, Robbins was accused of being a Communist by the House Un-American Activities Committee. Fearing he would be outed as bisexual, he revealed the names of several colleagues.

His Broadway shows include “High Button Shoes,” “West Side Story,” “The King and I,” “Gypsy” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” among others. His 60 ballets include “A Suite of Dances,” created for Mikhail Baryshnikov, and “West Side Story Suite.”

From the 1970’s on, he focused primarily on ballet, returning to musical theater only occasionally. His last Broadway production, “Jerome Robbins’ Broadway,” won six Tony Awards, including best musical and best director.

Robbins won two Academy Awards for the film version of “West Side Story.” He was also a 1981 Kennedy Center Honors recipient.

His final work, “Brandenburg,” was created for the New York City Ballet.

Robbins passed away on July 29, 1998.

“I SHALL DANCE. My classes shall be my daily worship and workshop.”

Roman Holiday

Once Jake got to Rome (or decided to let people know he was in Rome) he made sure that people knew he was there.

Here's Jake on set with one of his cast mates

And then with his cast mates off set

Will have to wait and see.
