Thought this was interesting, the article is about Elton & David's surrogacy, but would applicable for Jake and Austin.
Lawyer Andy Vorzimer, who handled the paperwork for Sir Elton, said the couple chose to have their baby in California because it is the only place in the world where a couple taking a surrogate baby can be considered its legal parents before it is born. Wow, great. That is the first time Jake has been spotted there since our trip. I am so happy to hear that he still frequents it. It makes our breakfast there all the more special. Deviled eggs this weekend for sure now.

One has to contemplate why Jake now has gone totally under radar. You have to.
Since early 2000, the guy has been visible, even when not filming or working. Out for brunch. Out riding. Out for breakfast. Out for lunch. Out with friends.
And all of that has stopped. Stopped.
Anyone familiar with Jake and how it's been since the days of Kirsten Dunst and inbetween the beards, knows this is totally not like him.
And you have got to ask why. All about suddenly private?
Then why the garish, off-putting, publicity seeking photo ops with the beards? That's not lying low.
Why is he hanging on the east coast now? I thought his home was in L.A.
Does one think this guy would rather be stuck in snowstorms and 30 degree weather than in California?
Shouldn't he be out, getting papped, getting "seen", keeping his name out there?
All of these questions are just hanging out there. And the biggest question is why.
What would make Jake need to stay hidden like this? Why the big change? Because it's a HUGE change in his behavior.
Maybe he wants to finally work on Broadway PG. He might be making contacts in NYC. Jake has no work right now. Source Code is a couple months away. Plus I am sure he likes being near his family.
Part of his family has always been on the east coast and that never made him move there before though, Tom. This is my point.
It's because Austin is based on the east coast.
There are no rumors of him doing theatre although I think it would be awesome if he did work in theatre.
Maybe he needs work that allows him to work on the east coast right now that Austin is ball & chained to that crappy show OTH.

It's no surprise that Jesse James was the biggest skank ho, grabbing 94.5 percent of the votes when asked who was the bigger post-breakup ho, he or Sandra Bullock. He also got the most votes out of everyone, as well.
Although David Arquette, who has freshly checked himself into rehab, beat Courteney Cox by the second largest percentile (a little over 83 percent said he was the bigger ho), it was actually sweet little Taylor Swift who received the second largest amount of total votes.

Jake no longer has any family in L.A. PG. His mother lives in Brooklyn with Maggie and Peter. The only family h has in L.A. is his crazy father who lives in some tacky apt. in WEHO after selling the family home. I suspect he sublets his L.A. home, he has no reason to be there unless it's work.
He has familiy in NY and PA, and while he of course loves his crazy Dad, I suspect he and Maggie aren't as close to him as before.
But West Hollywood is in....California.

All of the Jake sightings on twitter in NYC, on the subway or eating at inexpensive foodie places. Is he always alone? It seems so. The tweets don't say "with a woman" or "with a guy" like, ever. Personally, I love exploring NYC alone. It's a wonderful city to be alone in, to dawdle in, to eat in, to be SNOWED in!
Is he staying with his family in Brooklyn? Those brownstones are so big, they sometimes have whole floors of guest rooms. Maybe he is out exploring Manhattan neighborhoods for house-hunting :)
I assume the bearding with Swifty is over. They were both off for birthdays and the holidays with family, for weeks, it seems, and didn't even hook up for a photo op. If they stage another, it would look very odd.

He is cut off from the family, I suspect that Jake and Maggie loves their Dad but doesn't resapect him anymore. The same goes for the Gyllenhaals in PA, he has done a lot of shit that is unforgiveable and is paying the price, I can see why Jake avoaids L.A. if he can help it.
In NY/PA he can go around riding subways and eating out and people will ignore him for the most part and in PA they won't even tweet about him there.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jake is looking to do a play, Maggie and Peter will be doing the three sisters Jan-Mar.
Even when Maggie was pregnant and Peter was away filming Jake only seemed to spend about two weeks out of a month in NY. And a lot of that time was during the summer, when his parents would have been out on MV.
The fact that Jake spends so much time here now may be because of Austin, still not sure what I think of that relationship. But for me it is another thing that points to the possibility of BT existing--what better way to hide a kid than in your sister's brownstone, with extended family to help look after him or her.
Everyone who lives in Park Slope know all about Maggie. Peter, Ramona and Naomi, they mingle freely with the "mortal", there is no secret baby.
When Jake visits, it's no big deal. Theya have lots of relatives in Brooklyn and the LES.
A lot ahs changed since Maggie had Ramona, including the breakup of his parents marriage, which he saw coming but it still stung. Famuly home sold, crazy Dad, embarrassing family info dumped on the net regarding the divorce, etc.
IMO he stays in NY/Brooklyn with Magie & Co because it's a sane, stable marriage and family something he wants for himself.

Just caught up on the Stephen Gyllenhaal divorce drama.. Had no idea. This puts a whole new perspective on Jake's need to make money to help support his family into the future, and his deeper steps into the closet. Sad.

Destiny, I think Jake is the primary caregiver of the kids. He's the one always shopping and traveling with them.
I just don't get the vibe that Austin is as much a "children" kind of guy, LOL. I could be wrong but I just see it more in Jake.
Agree about Jake being the primary caregiver, especially since I think Austin may be no more than and "uncle" to BT.
Jake maybe outwardly more nuturing, but don't think for minute that Austin isn't a very active parent. You have to keep in mind that Austin is an introvert and doesn't feel compelled to share everything with everyone. He will share what he wants to share and in the want he wants to share it, with those he chooses.
For someone who has no reason to be LA, it sure is odd that Jake would acquire not one, but two family trucksters,in early June of last year. Sounds pretty permanent to me. Right before he heads off to Martha's Vineyard for the summer. Californians are the ones who need independent transportation not people who have decided to relocate to NY. Moreover, Audi Q7s can seat up to 7passengers so if he is similar to the demographic that chooses this kind of vehicle, it is not surprising that Jake has a family and Austin and he are together. I might even suggest that there is more than one Baby Tile:

I agree with your assessment about Austin, Special. The original BI made it pretty clear that these two were consciously choosing to have a family together. Jake would not need Austin around to "create" a family. I would assume he has his own sperm. LOL!
In addition, it is not unusual to have one person in a relationship/partnership who tends to be the nurturer. That role fits Jake like a glove. In fact, I believe Anne H. used that particular word to describe what she likes about Jake. I'm sure Austin has many admirable qualities. Like being protective of his home and loved ones and maybe being the one who says, "No," when Jake can't bear to take a stand. Jake likes to view himself as loyal. I would suspect Austin is as well. I view him more as a builder who views external authority as irrelevant. They complement each other nicely. Austin tweeted one time that opposites attract. Well, opposites raise families together too. My father was not that into babies either, but he was a terrific father.
