Funny Filming

Austin has added following Kristin Schaal on his twitter. If you don't know who she is, she is a comedian, has been on Flight of the Concords. You might remember her from a video Austin put up on his Eguider.

It's been a while - but Austin had set up an Eguider account to highlight videos he liked and comment on. Hoping he hasn't completed abandon it and will come back and update it. It is little window to a different part of him.

Another one is the famous fight between Norman Mailer and Rip Torn on the set of Maidenstone.
The clip isn't available on Eguider now - but here it is courtesy of YouTube.

The two other videos Austin posted are one about Red, the digital camera and Barackula a muscial/comedy of Presidential candidate/Dracula.

Check out his EGuider.

His clips are in two main categories - comedy and movie making. Makes you think that his first time behind the camera will be more comedic than dramatic - and will be influenced by those directors who influenced him. So brush up on your John Ford, Sam Fuller and Hal Ashby trademarks for him to homage. And can't help thinking there will be a smidge of Milch in there too.

With only 7 episodes left to film OTH will be winding down by the end of March. The rumor is that BrookeDavis(TM) and Julian will get a baby. Why is there a thought that Austin's directorial debut would be some how tied to that momentous and comedic (ask any parent after they get home) moment. Maybe directing's like the old adage about writing. "Write what you know"

Get on your bikes, skis and or skates it's Two Wheel Tuesday.

Jake should be using things like the Palm Springs event to network, especially since he doesn't have any projects lined up.

I think Jake's priorities have shifted.

But but Destiny - how is he supposed to network when he has little ones waiting at home for him??????

Trolls or just non-BT believers in general are very, very upset over discussions going on pointing towards what they just absolutely hate the idea of and that is Jake being a father.

Not to mention Jake and Austin being parents together, just like NPH and his BF.

The timelines, suspicious videos and pictures, Jake's behaviorial patterns and Ted's Jake G mentions in his column are mounting and pointing toward what many just don't want to see or believe.

Jake's a dad.

prairiegirl said...

Similar to what Destiny said over on T2, Jake looks very different now, has been for the past 2 1/2-3 years.

He should be looking like a hot single stud, which many believe he still is.

Instead, he looks very suburbanish and he drives a big ol' 7-seater SUV.

He usually looks harried and a mess.

He's rarely seen out anymore.

Jake doesn't club. Doesn't get papped out & about anymore. Doesn't party it up. Instead, like a commenter on T2 said this morning, Jake is seen going to Farmers Markets, he talks about collecting old cookbooks, shops for groceries at Whole Foods all the time (who's he buying all this food for anyway?), he hangs with Busy Phillips (and only in the last year or so) who is also a mom.

Jake's startling change in lifestyle perplexes his fans and has some just scratching their heads. It makes no sense. Why is this?

What happens when your bff gets married and starts having kids? You don't see them much anymore. They get wrapped up in family life.

I think this is what's happening with Jake. His priorities have totally changed and he's got a family to nurture and raise now. To feed. To educate. To read to. To tend when they're sick. To play with.

This is where Jake has disappeared to. He's not depressed. The guy is dog tired a lot because I think he has more than one. And when they're 3 and 2, they are going to wear you out.

Wow, PG. You must be really stirring up the troll stew, today. Someone’s calling you a skank? LOL! When logic fails and facts don’t support your case, rely on personal attacks because that’s really all that’s left in the old quiver. As John Adams would say, “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

One just has to take an open-eyed promenade down memory lane and review OMG posts and supporting links, for the past 3 years. All the evidence is there to support the proposition that Jake is gay, in love with Austin Nichols and they are raising a family together. That appears to be the kind of nurturing, wholesome life Jake has wanted for many years because I can remember him talking about having 2-4 children when he was still in his early twenties. This is a young man who knew what he wanted early on in life and went after it, despite the sacrifices he had to make along the way. Maybe after April, some healthier, more emancipating decisions can be made for everyone involved.

I think it's interesting to see some of the events Jake has gotten involved in the last couple of years, namely the Edible Island for schoolchildren program and he has visited two cancer hospitals for children just in the past couple of months, one of them just before he left for L.A.

Some said that Jake's ties with children would end after the release of Prince of Persia, but it's clear now that they didn't.

I'll also never forget that video of Jake visiting Disney Radio and how he lit up with recognition when he & that deejay were looking at a TV screen and Jake said, "The Wiggles!"

As if he was very familiar with them.
When you have little ones, you cannot help but be familiar with all of those children's characters and TV shows. It's like going through a second childhood again.

prairiegirl said...

Yeah, M&M, I've never been called a skank before. Kinda cool.

On the subject of kids and such, this quote from Natalie Portman caught my eye this morning. It was from "Global Grind":

The 29-year-old "Black Swan" actress recently told USA Today, “I was gonna wear a belly shirt today, for example. That option was eliminated. I suggested a bikini.”
I have no idea what (motherhood) is going to be like so I’ll feel it out," she added.

Feel it out. She has no idea what's going to hit her, does she?

But anyway, what now strikes me as kind of ironic about this is I believe that Jake is light years ahead of Natalie in knowing what it's like to be a parent. Both her and Anne.

So telling was that picture of Jake holding the baby in the Australian cancer hospital, so comfortable. Almost as if he were used to holding one like that while holding onto the hand of another. When you get used to it, it's amazing how more relaxed you are. You don't treat babies like they're going to break anymore.

Wouldn't surprise me if we see Natalie hangin' with Jake more often in the future, getting tips. I'm sure he & Busy Phillips exchange a lot of stories and recommendations, tricks of the trade.

**ducks**

lol. I am dead serious.

And don't forget Jake's interest in "family" before and during the filming of Brothers, just around the time BT was born. There's even a DVD Featurette called, “IT’S ABOUT FAMILY:” The Unique Vision of Jim Sheridan where Jake talks passionately about the subject. Jake even became involved with a writing program for teens, as a result:

"Jake Gyllenhaal visited a string of prisons while researching his role in "Brothers", and he was so impressive with the way young offenders are rehabilitated he keeps returning to help out with writing programs. The "Brokeback Mountain" star, who plays a former juvenile delinquent in the film, spent time with convicted drug smugglers and murderers in an effort to determine what life behind bars is like for a teenager.
He tells Fox News, "My character (in Brothers) starts off in jail so I did a lot of research at LA County Jail, Lancaster State Prison and some juvenile state halls.""I came across this incredible writing program for kids that are spending time in juvenile halls, 14-18 year-olds participate in this writing program and that really changed my perspective on the prison system and the people inside it. I have since been back many times to work on this writing program and with these kids. It's so life changing and extraordinary." Source: www.aceshowbiz.com

prairiegirl said...

I wonder what exactly he did with that writing program? Austin actually strikes me as being more literary than Jake. Although Jake does read, I guess. He said To Kill a Mockingbird was his favorite book when he was younger, didn't he? I've never read that one.

Jake's way over my head on that one. I was more into Henry Huggins, Pippi Longstocking, and then Harlequin Romances as I got into my late teens.

That's no surprise, is it. lol

Boy, I have downloaded a TON of music today off of I-Tunes. Sorry, Austin, no Garbage cd, or what is that cd called? Green Garbage? I didn't recognize any of those groups on that cd of his, sorry!

No, we're talking Boston. Bryan Adams. Tina Turner. Tom Petty. Eric Clapton. Head East. A-Ha. April Wine. This is great. I just love having new music on my I-Tunes/Ipod.

Methodical Muser said...

To Kill a Mockingbird is still one of my all time favorite books and movie experiences, for that matter. One of those rare books you can read as an adolescent and still enjoy as an adult. I first read the story when I was in the 7th grade. You really should give it a try someday.

And rememeber, PG. Jake is a well known "intellectual!" Don't ever forget that fact. Poor Swifty sure hasn't. *grin*

prairiegirl said...

Yes, he reads all the time on the subway with his earbuds in.

Now, this needs to be brought up.

How many people listen to their Ipod at the same time as trying to read a book?!

How can you concentrate? You can't.

Jake is just trying to convey the message of "Don't bother me, I vant to be alone. Don't bother me, I vant to be left alone. Don't talk to me. I'm deep in thought, deep in reading, I can't hear you anyway, can't you see the earbuds in my ears?"

Kind of annoying if you ask me, and very anti-social.

lol. I thought he was an extrovert?

Special K said...

Both Jake and Austin have diverse interests. Jake's a self admitted geek. Austin revels in his quirkiness.

If you haven't seen the Mailer / Rip Torn video before - check it out. Talk about it getting totally out of hand.

I'm really interested in seeing Austin's directing style. You can only direct as what has been written. I am sure that Austin already thinking and working on his shots list and what he wants to do. I do think that he has one big thing in his favor he is respected and well liked by both his fellow castmates and the crew there. That goes a long long way. Think that everyone wants him to do well his first time.

He just strikes me as one who will do very well at this new venture.

Never thought I would ever say I was looking forward to viewing an OTH episode (shutters from surprise), but I wish Austin well and I'm definitely anticipating both a visually egaging effort, as well as a tightly assembled viewing experience. He seems to understand the technical aspects of filming and, as you say, Special, has solid and supportive relationships with the cast. Something to look forward too, for sure.

Count me in as one who cant wait to see Austins directorial results. If he is directing now and there are 7 more to go, it should be out way before the series ends. Should be very revealing about how he thinks. I've been a film buff for many years, long before I ever developed an interest in Jake. And watching 3 or 4 films by the same director to study their style was a favorite pass time. I realize TV is different. But I remember being particularly taken by an episode of Everwood, back in the day. And later learning that Papa Gyllenhaal directed that episode. It really stood out from the rest.

Hey, I found an interesting article called "The Golden Globes Seating Circus" on some website called The Daily Beast. lol, what a name. Anyway, I'll try to do the link. But in essence, it's really interesting to read about how the stars get their tickets and all of the bargaining, kissing up, and brown nosing that goes on to get seats to this star-studded event. And I guess it's a highly sought after seat by not only the stars, but their agents who seem to insist on needing to sit next to their clients (Jake's assistant is going to go into a catatonic state this year because they're not giving tickets to the agents this year. LOLLL!!). It's known to be a raucous party & fun time and all the stars love to go. I'll give you a preview paragraph or two and then the link and you can go there to read it if you want. It was fascinating.

Not many people in Hollywood are fearless enough to take on the town’s all-powerful talent agents and tell them “No.”
But that’s exactly what Judy Solomon did last week, when she informed CAA, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, and the other major agencies, that they would not be receiving tickets to this Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony.
The news has not gone over well, to say the least. But Solomon, a petite, 79-year-old Israeli journalist who wears Jackie O.-style suits, chain-smokes skinny foreign cigarettes, and sprinkles her sentences with the word “darling,” is non-plussed.

Golden Globes a Hot Ticket

prairiegirl said...

After reading that Hollywood Life account of Jake's behavior at the Palm Springs Film Festival and how his publicist was flanked at his side, makes me wonder if the publicist will insist she get his extra ticket. It's like they think he needs a babysitter. They're his bodyguard. His kryptonite shield. His garlic against the vampires of the world. The man is 30 yrs old, come on.

Well, you people are stuck with me all week on here so I hope some will get up some nerve and venture on here to talk & chat with the few of us who do get on here.

And you're out there, I know you are. OMG has an impressive sized audience. Special's blog ain't so tiny anymore. Still mighty but not so tiny. So who are all these people looking? Why so silent?

You can't look any stupider or sillier than myself. I don't get it. I wish more of these people would talk on here, it'd be fun. And very likely to lend some angle or insight that some haven't thought of. Or heck, to just admire one of the guys. Nothing wrong with a little slobber. lol.

Anyway, here's a raise of the cereal bowl this morning to someone new today. Somebody who will get up the nerve to say 'Hey, I've been out here! Just saying hi.' That's it. Just sayin' hi.

It's been very exciting to have Owl Girl. Love it! I've thoroughly enjoyed the participation of Owl Girl - thanks, Owl Girl!!!!

From Lainey today:

How Jakey bailed on Swifty

It was over the phone.

Just before New Year’s.

I hope it was more than 27 seconds. That’s apparently how long it took for Joe Jonas to end things with her. On the phone too.

These are the details presented to us about the Jakey-Swifty break-up in the new issue of Us Weekly, with Taylor’s heartbreak on the cover. It’s a top seller. And pretty soon, she’ll have more than John Mayer in common with Jennifer Aniston.

Jennifer, however, is much more experienced. And besides, Jennifer really isn’t looking for love. If only Jennifer could admit to the fact that she’s in it for a good f-ck. If only.

Taylor on the other hand at 21 is in love with love. So when Jakey pursued her, going through their agents to arrange a hook-up, of course it was like stars and rainbows. Jake of course has dimples and is delightful and hot. So it’s easy to blame her for being a dumbass.

But then again, he invited her to spent time with his family on Thanksgiving. She held hands with his niece. So… I don’t know… if I were analysing that over the phone and tears with a girlfriend post-split, that would have confounded me too. But if he wasn’t into me, why would he ask me to spend the holiday with him?

You’ve had those conversations, right?

You’ve picked apart everything he said?

And now?

Us Weekly says now Swifty isn’t eating. She’s also supposedly working out like mad, to bury the pain, I guess, which will eventually transform itself into lyrical inspiration. Jake meanwhile is having dinner with buxom blondes. Because a player never stops playing.

More about Taylor and Jake in this week’s Us Weekly on stands now.

OwlGirl said...

I don't quite understand Jake's PR breakup framing here.

Trust me, I totally see how this maneuver benefits Swifty. I just don't get this as a tactic for Jake, coming across to the unaware masses as the heart-breaker to America's sweetheart, on the phone, just after Christmas. Makes him look like a big jerk. Doesn't it?

Does this harden his hetero image? The image that was bruised when Reese dumped him the way she did? OK. Then why are all of his real actions and supporting interviews right now at the same time making him look like a big softie - 2 weeks with his family in NYC, constantly talking about his family and cooking and cookbooks and the farmers market, and then cooking some more.

I also don't understand how the masses are buying this. Lainey, I get, she's on the payroll. I am convinced of that. Some celebs she'll go after, hard. She never goes after Jake. She won't let through questions about his sexuality on her live blog discussions. By not having comments on her website, she controls everything. She's the perfect messenger for a well-paying celeb. And she had a HUGE wrap-ad for LaOD that must have brought her $thousands in ad revenue.

OK, I am rambling.

One more thing. Jake is looking so tired, cranky and down. He looks like he's 40. There may be two BTs, but even one can do that to you - A really rambunctious one.

prairiegirl said...

Yeah, I'm perplexed myself on how this works in any way good for Jake's image. It makes him sound like a cad, a la John Mayer. To be blunt, I think John Mayer comes across as a total, total tool. I wouldn't go near that guy with a 10-foot pole if I was a female celeb. I'm not sure why you would want your client to look like a John Mayer unless it's some twisted, crazy notion that it somehow "hetero" ups your client. I have no idea. It's stupid. I really am surprised that it's women who run Jake's team because they give the female species a really bad name. Normally, women know what other women want. But in Jake's case, they do the opposite.

I can't wait to read the US Weekly fiction. There were some pictures floating around the internet yesterday of Ol Tay driving herself around Nashville and she was putting on a show, looking all sad and head tilted to the side, 'woe is me' pose.

destiny said...

I think hardening the hetero image is probably what's at work Owlgirl. Jake getting dumped by Swifty might raise questions about why all these women seem to be running away from such an eligible guy.
