House Hunters

It looks like Jake is ready to say good bye to his Hollywood Hills property, which he has owned for nearly 10 years. The three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home is up for grabs for $3.5 million.

He bought the property which has been home to celebrities over the years in 2005 for $2.5 million. One of former owners of the home was Michael Balzary, aka Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers

"The gated celebrity compound, built in 1948, is perfect for anyone looking for some privacy; the house is situated on almost two acres of land down a long private driveway, with nothing behind it but a beautiful view of the Los Angeles city skyline. The interior of the home seems to be reflective of the actor himself, oozing with character and charm. The décor is chic yet simple, with white walls and neutral toned furniture giving the home an overall midcentury modern vibe. The living area has high-beamed ceilings and a large window letting in plenty of natural light. The property also has a swimming pool and several trails." (source)

And as they say in real estate, LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION.
The house was perfect for getting to and from the studios.

Jake bought this property around the same time of the release of his movie “Jarhead.”

Well when you put a ring on it... the house comes next doesn't it.

The property was purchased under a trust that did not disclose Jake's name.

In the spring of 2007 the property petitioned the LA City Council for a variance to allow a 8-foot high solid wood fence, and excluding the regulations for fencing and landscaping. The original requested was denied a letter was sent regarding Conditions of Approval

Then was an appeal made in May of 2007.

"Applicant’s representative testified for the Project and stated a mutual agreement
Has been reached with the adjacent neighbors. He showed photos and a map of
the proponed Project and the surrounding properties. He also discussed the modified Conditions of Approval contained in his letter dated May 3, 2007.

One speaker testified to make sure the side yard fence remains at six feet."

Jake was seen on his motorcycle heading into the gated property back in 2010.

Why this for an Austin Friday post?

Hello.... this must be your first visiting OMG. Welcome.

There's no way Jake was even living at that house when he pulled up on that motorcycle. That was all for show.

The house doesn't look like it was lived in for awhile and I'm kind of surprised at the retro style of the furniture and the interior. Those breakfast nook dining chairs are interesting.

And, the "I'm such a dangerous dude" motorcycle shots were staged for a few months to minimize the optics of a "swinging" bachelor possessing not one, but two Audi Q7s. Or, as Special aptly dubbed the matching vehicles, the ol' "family trucksters."

Happy belated birthday M&M. I'm having way less opportunity to surf the web while traveling, which is good I guess since we are sightseeing. Very interesting about the house. I remember seeing the motorcycle pic when it was first taken. I also remember Austin saying Jake was a neat freak and liked simple, clean lines. Hope to check in again in a few days.
