Media Relations Lesson 1

No, wasn't sleeping, but when its over 50 and sunny and feels finally springlike in New England, you hit the beach. At least for a great morning to soak it up.

Speaking of spring - for many us tonight is the night we spring forward and move our clocks ahead. And when you do that, its always a good time to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors. It might save you life one day.

While everyone is spinning and weaving theories, again so many are losing sight of the most important thing .

Pictures of Jake and Austin after 2 years.

And all this craziness could just end it before it ever begins again. Just think about that for a minute. And then another 2 years from now remember why there might be no more pictures, and that it wasn't all about PR, but about fans hold part of the blame too. Appreciate it. Come on look at it. How stinkin' great is to have these pictures. Why f' the joy of it.

Do you want to take away that happy grin again?

Enough of the soap box, and back behind the lecturn.

Today is about photos: a photo lesson. Lots of pictures are taken and few get through.

Case in point

Remember this picture of Jake in the Red Sox hat in NYC back in 2007?
By the way great hat great picture. (Go Sox)

And how there was only one picture and it was a tight shot? Kind of odd.

Now this is the bigger set. And some examples from it

See how it works?

Not everything is allowed to be used or even offered.

And it not about conspiracy theories but sometimes it's that it because not its not allowed. Sometimes there is no shot. Maybe there's no story. Maybe didn't want the civilians or non famous family in his life to have to deal with it. Or maybe he just wants to have a little part his day that just private.

And don't think this is a one time thing.

Look for Lesson 2 later in the semester.

And because you waited ---have to have a little reward

Fabulous and Captain Fantastic

Not to take the words out of anyone's mouth, but what the hell, what's a little borrowing between uhmmmm....b....b......blondes?

And seriously what better names for these two than Fabulous and Fantastic, (add them to the long list) kind of making a silk purse out of ....a .... quote.

Yes it's Austin Friday.
And what a hell of an Austin Friday it is!!

Don't think you mind if there is some Jake on this Austin Friday. In fact I think a lot of people would like many more Austin Fridays like this.

So what's better than an Austin smile to start. Oh you know it is one. And its that head down one trying to keep it a little on the sly, but there is no way he couldn't. Photo op -my ass, that smile is one that can't be held back or manufactured. It is 100% bona fide gen-u-ine. And it's been way too long since we've seen a smile so sweet.

Then there Austin's protective vibe. The serious one he gives, it sends a signal to everyone. He doesn't want anyone to mess with his man. The coffee pictures, the stare into the camera at the Lakers 3 pictures. He means business.
So Maggie said.....
She had to go ...not sure if it was Peter or Ramona who was going to get in trouble .

Ok, so how's it's going? Who sneezed? We'll be back soon.

We will?

We have other plans?

Wonder if he would go for some Chinese. ; )

One downside was the lack of backside - listen we all seen the back of Jake and we know Austin doesn't mind playing following the leader when Jake on the bike. (By the way what's up with Jake standing up on flat ground, this boy has done hills with his butt planted on his seat, and he never stood up with his other biking buds [Lance, Matt, and Chris])

But come on we're getting cheated here, and you know fair is fair.... Mr. Nichols yes that means you. You dropped, and rolled past a car full of Southern Bells, now covered in snug spandex shouldn't be a problem for ya, so get to gettin'...

And today - being full of.... well full of something, I am saying it's Thanksgiving at OMG. Cause we have a lot to give thanks. So to the twosome we've been waiting for almost two years to see together again - Thank You. There's a lot people who are really glad you to see you.

Hey don't be strangers. You're welcome anytime.

Jake Gyllenhaal Slips Into His Spandex Gear Once Again
He rides again
March 5th, 2009

"Jake Gyllenhaal ditched his ladylove Reese Witherspoon to hook-up with his BFF Austin Nichols to venture out for a relaxing bike ride together in the posh neighborhood of Brentwood, CA yesterday afternoon. Donning his fave pair of spandex riding shorts and his matching top, Jakey poo looked happy as can be to be out and bout with his good buddy Austin:"

See, while I cannot really accept Jake coupled up with Reese, I really have no problem seeing him out with his bromantic buddy Austin Nichols. They make a great pair … of friends … I think. While these spandex outfits would prolly look hideous on so many other folks, I think Jake and Austin (Jaustin?) know how to rock the look right. Here’s hoping that this bike-riding excursion is the first in a series of other outdoor activities that these two gents might enjoy together in the future.

Hope everyone gets their happy on, we've been waiting a long long time for these.

Today's earlier post:

Seems like Toothy likes Type A or is that a type? And I'm not talking about the production company or who takes it on the chin for there.

But it does look like Ted might have been a little on the money with one of his clues about Toothy tooth and his type.

Dear Ted:
Your column is fab—I look forward to reading it every day at work! Just wondering—is Toothy Tile, Brian Austin Green?
—Curious in Calabasas

Dear Matchmaker:
No, but BAG could be his type.

Jury has Ted Casablanca proven a case of typecasting?

What is your verdict? Yea or Nay?

Moonshining

You can learn a lot from a blog. And from Hilarie's comments over on Southern Gothic, we learn more about Austin, or should we call him Magnet?

But like any good groove let's break it down"

"Mr. Nichols - I call him that because I have the utmost respect for Mr. Austin Nichols. To be perfectly honest, I really didn't know if he and I were going to get along when we first met.

He was too beautiful. And beautiful men frighten me!
But Mr. Nichols is a nerdy, brainy, eccentric man in disguise.
This is Kryptonite, Kryptonite I say! You are powerless to it.

True story: I was giving Mr. Nichols a ride home one evening, when a party bus full of young women started hollering at us. One of the rowdy things mooned us.....although Austin and I debated as to whether it was a full moon, or and undies-on moon (which is not really a moon at all.) Not to be outdone, he instructed me to speed up and pull up next to them, at which point, he dropped his drawers and delivered the fullest of moons. Wiccans could have conducted ceremonies under this moon. Coyotes howled at it.
Cows jumped over it.

There's a lot of howling going on, cowing jumping, wonder if Toothy tiling? Of course it wouldn't be a Southern thing without some Moonshine.

We had a good laugh, and then I dropped him off. Later that night, he wandered into a bar and happened upon the very same pack of girls who had heckled us earlier.

Coincidence doesn't exist
for Mr. Nichols. He is a magnet, and the earth is drawn to him,

If he is a magnet. Is Jake steel? Max Steel? Look for future chapters of The Adventure of Max Steel and Big Magnet right here on OMG.

so of course he met up with this group again. I believe they bought him shots all night."

All this Mr. Nichols makes me think of Janet Jackson. Ya think Austin ever says?

No, my first name ain't baby,
Its Austin... Mr. Nichols if you're nasty

The rest of the story....

Past few days these two stories have come out linked to Jake.

New Line Cinema is playing ball with Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal on "Damn Yankees," attaching both actors to star in a contemporized film transfer of the classic musical.

JAKE GYLLENHAAL made a runner from Marks And Spencers last week after being spotted buying ladies underwear.

Now how are they related?

Jason Giambi wears thong when in slump, shares it with teammates

DAILY NEWS STAFF Friday, May 16th 2008, 9:00 AM

Thongs a lot, Jason!

Yankee slugger Jason Giambi wears a gold lamé, tiger-stripe thong under his uniform when he wants to break out of a slump - and he shares it with hitless teammates who want to get back on track.

"I only put it on when I'm desperate to get out of a big slump," he tells Portfolio.com. Over the years, the 37-year-old All-Star has left the "golden thong" in the lockers of slumping teammates Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Johnny Damon, Robin Ventura and Robinson Cano.
"All of them wore it and got hits," he reports. "The thong works every time."

The rest of the story? It's gotta be Jake being the Red Sox fan he is, was just getting something to send to the Yankees for good luck for the upcoming baseball season. (cough cough) But will it become the curse of the Golden Giambi? Let's just hope. Go Sox.

Southern Comfort

Sorry for the wait -- all the snow here has separated me from computer (just kidding). With a good 10 inches (for you so metrically inclined that 25.4 cms) with more coming a little later today I was enjoying The Snowy Day (shout out Ezra Jack Keats).

But all this snow bring the call for a little Southern Exposure.

It looks like Austin is getting his Southern Gothic on and getting into the vibe of Southern Gothic Productions. How, by lifting literature, or at least that is what Hillarie is claiming from this transcript of a chat she and Nick had with everyone.

HB: Um… oh, god… who do I just, love? I mean, I was gonna say, [holds up another book] Truman Capote’s stuff really, really hits me. My favorite book of his was The Grass Harp and I had a copy of it but I’m pretty sure Mr. Austin Nichols has it right now.
NG: What a surprise…
HB: What a surprise! Theivin’ Nichols.

What else would a lit major steal but books.

Now Mr. Nichols, you admit to lying, drinking, mooning, flirting, howling and now there's talk of stealing. No doubt you're a gambling and doing other things that would make southern ladies roll in their graves or would they, you just might not seem them grin more than wag their finger. Cause your grin could charm the panties off a granny.

Southern Gothic builds on the traditions of the larger Gothic genre, typically including supernatural elements, mental disease, and the grotesque. Much Southern Gothic literature, however, eschews the supernatural and deals instead with disturbed personalities. It's is known for its flawed, damaged and delusional characters, such as the heroines of Tennessee Williams' plays. Instead of perpetuating romanticized stereotypes of the Antebellum South, it brings the stock characters of melodrama and Gothic novels to a Southern context in order to make a point about Southern mores.

Southern Gothic literature often deals with the plight of those who are ostracized or oppressed by traditional Southern culture - blacks, women, and gays, for example. Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird deals with a clearly innocent black man who is convicted of rape and murdered simply because of his race. Tennessee William's A Streetcar Named Desire reinvents the Southern belle as a pretentious, mentally unstable woman, and his Cat on a Hot Tin Roof portrays the favorite son of a Southern dynasty as a repressed homosexual whose alcoholism threatens his marriage. William Faulkner's frequently anthologized "A Rose for Emily" brings the recurrent Gothic theme of unrequited love leading to madness to a Southern town in which the disapproving residents narrate in a single voice. Other notable writers in the Southern Gothic tradition include Flannery O'Connor, Carson McCullers, Eudora Welty, and of course Truman Capote.

A modern example of Southern Gothic is Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. It has all the elements of a true Southern Gothic novel in a true life story that took place in what people see as in the genteel southern city of Savannah. The story of outsider who's made it into Savannah society accused of murdering his younger, and to many an opportunist, lover. And it brings out all kinds of characters that weave there way like Spanish Moss hanging from the tree in Savannah. But what it appears and what really it is true of Savannah. And that's Southern Gothic. The hanging Spanish moss everywhere and get to know you conversation starting with "whatdaya drink?" instead of "what do you do?" helps add to it.

I can see what the draw is to Austin and other actors, because the life of an actor is about appearing not as their reality, celebrating the eccentricities, and what actor doesn't want to play a part of a flaw character.

Talking about appearances ---Austin is making a few in some great pictures over at Spooky's. Check out the newest picture of him on the set of OTH. And check out her beautiful artistic interpretation.
