2007 was quite a tumultuous year for us at OMG, to say the least! So many ups and downs with the J&A fandom. I feel that after so much upheaval, it is only fitting to reflect on the things that we are grateful for over this past year.
When Spesh and I created this place, we wanted an intimate space to talk about J&A where people were open to getting to know one another. Because of the people who post here, I can say- Mission Accomplished! I am incredibly grateful every day to the posters who come here. People praise us for our hard work, but I admit we did create this place a bit selfishly. We wanted a place where we would enjoy posting and participating too! I think we get back as much as we give.
I am incredibly grateful to Special K for her blog savvy, Photoshop skills, and ability to create awesome posts. I am most grateful for the fact that I got to actually meet her a couple months ago and now can consider her among my best friends. Blogging together kinda does that to ya! I could never do this blog on my own and am so glad that I don't have to. :) Love ya, Spesh!
I'm also so happy about all the other friends I have met in the fandom during 2007. Destiny, her Mrs., their friend who came along and turned out to be a Jake fan, NETB, and especially, Tom. Although I've wanted to kill him a few times when he has one of his "spells" (and when he texted at 4:55 AM!) he's a great guy and I'm so fortunate to know him. I would love to meet some of the other folks who post here too. Maybe we should have an OMG convention in 2008? ;)
Connection with other people is why we started this blog, why we continue this blog, and I think it's also why you guys come here. Here's to more connection in 2008. Happy New Year OMG!

Spesh and I have decided that January 2008 will be queer musical artists month at OMG. We originally were going to do a week, but quickly realized we could cover a month easily. Who would you like to hear?
We had a little idea of a place to come together and to share and build a sense of community that we both missed. In the beginning it was a little scary, a lot crazy, and well a little over our heads. But how many great adventures do you get to do.
I remember saying to Wicked, what if we does this and no one comes? And she would say we are here for whoever wants to join us, always confident that there would be someone who would come.
OMG has given me so much! So many new friends, people that I would have never met and realize how much I would have missed out not meeting them, so many creative, talented, compassionate and caring people. I am so grateful to all of you who come here.
I know that I probably drive Wicked crazy some days. Definitely when we started out doing OMG. And without her there would be no music, because she made the player her bitch. I would never have so much patience to keep looking for player solutions. I would have just made you guys just hum to yourselves. Just from our emails I knew this was going to be such a great friendship, then came phone calls and finally getting to meet, and knowing that she had quickly become one of my closest friends. Wicked you're the best! You know you are always the voice of reason and assurance. And especially patience!
And to all of you who I met in person or spending time with chatting you have become wonderful friends. To those who come and post you are what makes OMG and what make us want to do, and well those two guys, what were there names again?

Wicked has become a big part of my life and I am one lucky guy. She is fun, she is smart, and she is caring, and she knows just what to do when I go into meltdown. Thanks W.
In 2007 I got to see Destiny and her posse again and met Special and NETB. They are such really nice people. This year I hope to see them again and meet more TBs. It would be great in 2008 if more of us got together. We have become a unique little family.
My first wish for all of us is that jeese ends soon. I am glad Jake and Reese are friends but I have had enough.
Secondly I wanna see Jake with Austin and his family and friends and Atticus. I love seeing Jake with them and it is so obvious that those folks are a huge and wonderful part of his life.
I also wish that Jake would finally come out but at this point that is so unlikely. I sure hope he gives the gay community more of his wonderful support this year. That is so important to me. I look for it all the time. His past antics have been some of my best memories of him.

Queer musical month? mmm.... from the top of my head, i can think of those I listen to: Marc Almond, Jimmy Sommerville, Pet Shop Boys, Rufus, Holly Johnson (Frankie Goes to Hollywood) etc. But the special one for me is Judas Priest's Rob Halford, cos he's probably the first heavy metal band member to say he's gay.
A job well done in 2007. I hope 2008 will be a better year for all J&A fans :)

Lang, especially Trail of Broken Hearts and Constant Craving, and her version of Cole Porter's So In Love. Wow, what a Voice she has too!

I know it is an unwritten policy of the Jausty fandom but since these are desperate and dark days(jeese) I say we give it to the end of Feb and if jeese dosen't go away we go on a little recruiting venture.
There are a million ways to draw attention to Jausty all across the internet and if enough of us got involved we could many more interested. So many people are unaware of Jake and Austin. Plus I think it will draw a heck of a lot more fans than jeese. So I am asking everyone to think about it and if no one is interested I may go on a little venture myself. So as of today I am giving jeese to Feb. 29th, 2008.
I am not sure who else is sick of jeese but I have had enough!!!!!

I was very intrigued by stubborn's comments about the video in the last thread. Body language doesn't lie. You can try to harness it for the first 3 or 4 "displays"; make it work for you. But eventually the truth outs through it, and it sounds like that's happening with Jake, who has extra trouble hiding what he's feeling at the best of times. I'm all for a Rebel Jake in 2008! C'mon, Jake, tear up the scenery, the play is coming to an end. I want a Jake and Austin year, too, even if that means we only get one photo every 3 months, lol. And while we're at it, how about every other special person in his life - including Atticus - be able to appear in photos with him. I'm tired of the Post-Nuclear Jake where only Reese supposedly survived.
I don't want to tempt fate, but I would honestly rather forego Jake pictures and know he's truly at peace than be subjected to any more Jeese. That's how strongly I feel about it. After these latest pictures I can't believe they're going to drag this thing through until after awards season. Have mercy.
On a happier note, I'm all kinds of giddy about the Musician's Month! My big request would be Rufus, of course, but I'll add my long, long, long-time love for Jimmy Sommerville. I'd also love to see Erasure in there. :)

Post-nuclear Jake, which includes the "perfect" 50s nuclear family, really sums it all up. While up to now I haven't been too bothered by the few times they've included the kids, I find the new pictures disturbing. The kids look so miserable, and I can only imagine what effect all of this is having on them. A few times out with mom's "friend" is one thing, to be subjected to this on a regular basis I would think would be troubling for kids of that age.

You don't see Jake publicly with too many other people, do you? Other friends, family in LA or elsewhere have vanished from his public life. I'd be unhappy too if my public life had been reduced to one overbearing person and her annoying children.

The Mrs. and I went to see I Am Legend at the Union Station movie theater. Movie should have started at 2:15. They finally started previews, after repeated complaining from patrons, at 2:35. Okay for a while and then previews became completely unfocused. People threatened to walk out and finally a manager was found who could fix it. The movie was good right up until the point where the theater staff came in and said everyone had to evacuate because Union Station was on fire! Mrs. and I had to spend half and hour walking around the building in the cold until we are allowed to get into the parking area and get our car. Thankfully, it appears to have been a small fire and no one was hurt. Now I see the pics of Jeese and kids. Judging from the look on Jake's face, I had the better New Year!

Again, he is like a magnificent peacock to her pale peahen. Love the plaid lumberjack shirt and baseball cap on him. On her, the cap looks too large for her. Matching hats is just too cutesy, and Jake looks annoyed, as usual. He looks hunky, and she looks lost in a hat that's too large for her.

There would be pictures of both of them out and about by themselves and more importantly there would be pictures of Jake with those other people PR appearantly wants us to believe he doesn't need anymore, some might also call them his friends.
The paps never had any problem getting pics of him with various friends out and about before he and Reese started "dating", so they certainly would get them if those pictures were really just the paps getting lucky and not the photo-ops they obviously are.
I don't trust Reese one bit. I think she's the one calling Flynet (or rather, having the assistant or nanny do it). All of this, whether its fauxmance or friends, makes her look good - agreeable, desirable, Jake only spends time with her and no one else. And either way, Jake looks bad - because he needs a beard that bad, or because he's that big of a wussy that he needs to be with someone with such a dominating bossy personality, so much that none of his friends, family or even his dog wants to be around her in public.
These theatrics are more in the best interests of the Reese image than anyone else. Either way, she'll be the "love of his life" or the "supportive friend." She'll come off smelling like a rose, Jake will be the poop that helped it bloom.

Why is the showmance continuing?
Well, it started in earnest in mid Oct with the Rome pics. Can't have it go kaput in 2 1/2 months right? I mean proposing to Reese on his knees and all that!
I also find it interesting that when Ent Lawyer (??) posted a BI about a Blist actor in the closet who spent a lot of time on his knees, the majority went "Jake!"
General Witherspoon and Private Gyllenhall's campaign must not be very effective....
Even tho most agreed later on that Ent's BI 'on his knees' quote was from a movie, it was surreal how many peeps guessed Jake! at the beginning...
The best part of waking up. A pap call? I think Jake is pissed about somethin in this latest video. Maybe he and Austin got ..ahem..interupted while adding their own cream and sugar! Ryan and Abbie will be married soon. If they're not already. There are things to consider with the movie coming out (doubtful that they will promote it as a married couple).
I just typed a book and deleted it. What I can say is that they are together and the kids are very much a part of their relationship. They stay outside of LA when they do things together and they just are not as recognizable and famous as Jake and Reese so they can fly under the radar a little better. They also try harder to stay on the DL. Like when they were in the airport you only saw Ryan and the kids. Abbie slipped out unnoticed.

They were apparently 'making out' at a rufus Wainwright and Belinda Carlisle concert on new year's eve. Unfortunately this now does look like its 'real' and that Jake is the twit we all hoped he wasn't.
Abbie was at the airport with Ryan and the kids? Really? Wow. I remember Ryan really seemed to be protecting (or trying to protect) his kids from the photographers.

Need more info on this. I just did a lot of checking and I cannot find anywhere that Rufus was sched to be in a concert anywhere in the LA area on Dec 31 2008. So if you want us to believe this we will need more detail.

Not to bring it up to analyze again, but I keep thinking about that one 'kissing' pic at the SFran restuarant, taken outside the window. Jake's hand is around her face, but if you do the physical logistics, their mouths arent anywhere near each others, like 3 to 4 inches off. So I always wondered if his hand was around her face because he was hiding that they werent really kissing. Just a thought, did anyone else notice?

My concern is more for the aftermath of Jeese, and not just for Jake, but for the kids. I think they think of him a nice friend of Mommy's, but when this is over it will be even harder on them. Reese will teflon up and move on.
Keep looking ahead. When we didn't think much happened in 2007, but looking back a lot of good Jaustin things did happen. So it shall be for 2008.

Like almost any of those never proven sightings it seems like the person reporting it is more concerned about proving people wrong than the actual sighting itself.
That coupled with the fact that Jake and Reese were appearantly perfectly able to enter and leave a concert hall without being photographed, when we're supposed to believe that they weren't able to have coffee in Santa Monica or go for a walk in a remote park, makes this whole thing so very unbelievable.

My birds eye view gave me a great perspective on Reese’s haircolor. Her natural color appears to be a light ash blonde, with subtle highlights of pale blonde woven through it. I’m not sure who Reese’s colorist is, but I have no complaints on either her color or cut. In fact, photos of her are frequently brought in by clients hoping for her highlights or bangs. The only challenge in achieving her color is that few women actually have a natural base color as light as hers. Most women who were blondes as children, get so dark as the years progress that they’re no longer blondes, but rather brunettes. My solution for this dilemma is to alternate a warm golden blonde next to a pale ash blonde, which diffuses the stark contrast that can happen when placing pale blondes on brunette hair. Back to Jake and Reese….she seems very happy with him, I hope 2008 is kind to both of them.
The entire Jeese NY eve sighting. The reason the sighter wrote so much about Reese's hair color is because Romi Cortier is one of the top hair stylists in the country, at least according to the website.

The last time we saw that smile of Jake's was in those restaurant pictures that also had Orlando Bloom. It was while he was on the phone, and yes, I know it is pure speculation, but I think he was smiling like that because he was talking to Austin.
I hate to say it, but Jake does look pretty twerpy these days, Reeke really does suck everything out of him that made him interesting and sexy.

I think this sighting is credible. The only thing I find a bit odd about it is the way the sighter used it as an over-the-top advertisement for her own salon. The whole "If you want to look like Reese Witherspoon let me tell you what I could do for you!" kinda thing. But I could see a top tier LA hairstylist seeing Jeese at the concert and using it as an opportunity to pimp out her salon.
Well, if they really were making out at a Rufus concert, I expect to see lots of blog entries show up over the next 2 days as there would have been tons of witnesess. I am distressed that Jake was seen at all, and so not with Austin on New Years eve. It's hard to keep the faith and must confess I find my love for Jake waning. But I am not ready to give up just yet. I just need another J & A sighting to keep me patient.
OT: Eddie Murphy got married to Tracey Edmonds and Johnny Gill, Eddie's "very good" friend, was best man. BTW, Eddie cheated on his wife Nicole with Johnny who he moved into his garage the last few years of his marriage! And now Johnny is best man for Eddie's latest marriage.
Go figure.

I do find intriguing though the people he's been allowed to be seen with since Jeese took their love affair to the world.

I totally vacillate on whether Jeeses are real or not, mainly cos I find it hard to believe Reese would involve her children in this charade.
But the tabloid version of their hot, fairy-tale romance are so at odds with the pictures we have of them. Particularly in SM with no kids around.
In my gut I think Jaustin were real, so I'm gonna go with that for now.
If this is a fauxmance then the only way Reese would have agreed to it is if there was minimal chance of anybody finding out about Jaustin. Jake and Austin have got to avoid been spotted/pictured together at all costs for this to work to everybody's benefit so I doubt we'll have much to go on for quite a while.
But I would really really like to know if Austin spent time in NY this Christmas :-)
