Got this sent to me about Austin on OTH, from Stubborn TB, and thought it was interesting. I am so not a numbers person, so this is one thing I would not have calculated.
"Austin had a little over 3 minutes screentime in the latest episode. That's 7% of the whole episode. (Now the percentage of that 7% spent in some state undress is what ...60-75%?) "
"He had more screentime when he was still a guest star instead of a regular. He had less than 2 1/2 hours worth of screentime in 21 episodes, which makes up roughly 10%. "

All ensembles Working in an esemble cast does have it's advantages. You have time to work on other things when you are waiting for others to film, or on the days you have off. And your days on the set you can learn as much as you can about production.

Not sure what point someone is trying to make about Sophia and Austin's brother in law. Sophia and Austin have known each other for what, 10 years or more. I would expect she has met some of his family members during this time period. So what.
No clue re Austin's comedic role. I have not seen him in all that much tv actually. Surface, His 2 spots in Six Feet Under and JFC.
Would love to see Austin do more comedy, think he would be great, and he seems to have great timing, and a quick wit from the interviews he's done.
And he does love to laugh.

that's a fine attitude to have if you don't care about his life and disappointments. however, if that's the case with you, why are you here - on a blog devoted to him and his friend - reading and commenting on posts about them? seems like you could find something a bit more lofty to do with your precious time, like maybe something you DID care about. :/
"Brothers" review
I'm curious passingby, how old are you? Have you ever held a real job, or had to look for one? Have you ever heard of networking? The fact that Sophia, who appears to be single at the moment, or Austin, might have taken Austin's brother-in-law to a function where he could network with other film people, is not evidence that Sophia and Austin are dating.
And funny, we're the ones supposedly obsessed with J&A, but it looks like you're the one spending an awful lot of time on this.
I'd been thinking the same thing about Austin's lack of airtime. Maybe that will change as they move onto different stories.
First movie reviews gave the same rating to PoP and Brothers.
Still, the best performance is clearly from Gyllenhaal, who seamlessly portrays the cautious yet fun-loving Uncle of Portman’s daughters.
When Jake was making Brother's we talked about him taking this role as a flawed character who finds redemption. Think it was a challenge because it was something different, and moving forward from boy/man to man roles in his career. Sounds like he did well with the challenge.
Know that I am looking forward to seeing Brothers.

I know all about networking.
The fact is that Rowdy Stovall is Austin Nichols brother in-law and there are just to many connections right now.
If Jake Gyllenhaal was seen in the same state as Austin you would all be freaking out, if he was attending an event with Austin's sister or brother in-law you would be freaking out. If Austin was seen with Maggie or Peter you would be freaking out.
But because this supports the fact that Austin & Sophia are actually in a romantic real relationship we must dismiss it as just a business situation between friends to help the other person network.

Perhaps you should purchase a plane ticket to Wilmington NC an spend some time there to do some fact finding rather than accuse
the residents of Wilmington who actually firsthand witness things and from time to time blog about it on twitter, facebook, in local wilmington blogs and yes also on OTH or Just Jared forums.
It seems to me that Jake & Reese are really guarded about their life.
But by all accounts Austin & Sophia are not, they are living their life as a couple out in the open, just not doing the red carpet or making public statements about their relationship.
Of course the numerous random people who saw them in Austin at ACL must be lying. As are all the folks in Wilmington. The 6 gossip reporters who blogged about seeing them at hollywood events together in a few weeks ago, vs is the one who continues to string along a select few with is bogus blind item. As were the folks in the hamptons lying, people who hav witnessed them together at airports and so forth.
Sophia shows upto an event with Austin's brother in law...
No big deal, it's business.
Yet you can taking two friends attending a basketball game together and who cycle together and spin that into some 5yr love saga.
Yet when real people who are not part of the industry are willing and do blog about seeing something firsthand between Sophia & Austin we are to discount that, assume that they are just fangirls making things up, even when they are willing to idenify themselves.

Again..imagine how you would spin this stuff is Jake was a ACL with Austin this year. If Jake showed up on the red carpet for an event with Rowdy, if Jake & Austin were reported to be out & about in Wilminton holding hands, if they were repored to be traveling to th hamptons and being all touchy and kissy with the other.
Jake and the Elmo pictures have gotten a lot of attention, even from places like towleroad and Dlisted, who doesn't post much about Jake. That's nice to see.
One commentator on towleroad thinks Jake doesn't look so good though, in that way that people do if they smoke and spend too much time in the sun. I tend to agree.

Ted did this same sort of blind item years ago to Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. What does Ted say about BA & MD now, nothing, NADA, all those years blind items and pinpointing, dropped in a flash, never to be brought up again.
Yet in more recent pics, on set and in NYC, he looks pretty damn good. I guess the commentator on Towleroad has never taken a bad pic. Oh to be that lucky!!

We don't believe it, you don't believe it, just like you don't believe that Austin and Sophia are dating, or that Jake and Reese are dating.
I don't think Jake looks so good in the newest fanpic. Others he does look really good. It's not something I thought of before the comment above, but I do think in some of the "bad" pictures he looks like he is aging in the way Mel Gibson and other smokers have aged, which makes me wonder if he isn't smoking. I guess if you like craggy smokers face and/or think Jake can do no wrong then its not a problem.
But I don't find it attractive. Several weeks ago I watched an old movie of Al Pacino's Scarecrows, and he was so incredibly beautiful in it. He's another one who lost a lot of his looks due to smoking, and then re ran out and had bad plastic surgery done to try and get rid of all those smoking wrinkles.
Looking at the Elmo and Ricky Gervais clip you can see that Sesame Street filmed the upcoming season this past spring. So I would expect that Jake and Elmo did the photo when he filmed the episode.
It would be be interesting to go back to the spring pictures of Jake over on IHJ and see if he looked similar then as opposed to the recent pictures of him on the set.
There was a lot made about Jake wearing hats, some might have been questionable fashion choices, but he was very diligent about it. I remember suggesting he could be doing it because he was suggested he needed more sun protection, he is more suspectible to skin cancer because he tends to have more moles.

Good catch Destiny re the age of the poster.I thought their comments showed that they have no business experience at all. Industry events are not social, like going to a party. They are business and your business persona is on display, not your real personality. One of the first things I taught employees, back in the day, was that you are on display, at work, representing your company, 100% of the time in such situations. I find it curious someone is trying so hard to legitimize Austin bearding. Worried about the evident cracks in the Reeke armor, I think.
M, what you and Destiny should really be worried about is the cracks is your screwed up logic! LOL!
i checked out the In Style article about Reese today. from what i could tell, the only time she mentioned jake was the cooking reference. the In Style folks mention him a couple of times, including when they ask her how her relationship is different with jake because of her divorce experience. she answers the question by saying "i don't know" or something blah like that, and then going on about wtfe but she never once mentions jake, acknowledges that they have a relationship, or talks about their life at all. it's very strange, and seems way above and beyond just being private or cautious.

I'm puzzled by passing by's rhetoric. We don't deny sightings, but we do understand that equivalence isn't possible. Gay sighting: MUST be hidden unless the parties are out.
Straight sighting: MAY be promoted for commercial ends.
There is also that thing we call a friendship, which in this case pre-dates the floating shoe picture.
