Jordan Mechner's keynote speech at GDC China, a game developers convention, talked extensively about the PoP franchise, his original aspirations and where the game series could be heading. He described the franchise prior to Sands of Time as "a garden that I was neglecting. By 2001 Prince of Persia was really a dead franchise -- completely and totally dead." Back to the garden Mechner to see what he could harvest from what he planted, deciding to make a pitch to get Prince of Persia made into a movie. So how do you pitch a video game as a movie to some of the biggest producers in the business? Show them your game. And this is what Jordan showed them.
It's not Persia but Pittsburgh, and Jake is deep in Friendship, shooting Love & Other Drugs.
Friendship is a quiet little residential area nestled between the bustling neighborhoods of Shadyside, Bloomfield and East Liberty Ave (part of the Strip District); many say it is the best neighborhood in Pittsburgh to live in because everything is so close.
Speaking of friends. It seems that there is a mixed message in what Bushnic is selling.
Even though Bush referred to Nichols as her boyfriend to friends, Austin played coy when our own Party Girl asked him if they were dating.
"I'm not gonna say anything except that...I'm here to drink. We were talking before. We have a bunch of friends together—we work together," Austin said.
"To be honest, I'm here to drink the free tequila and come to the Hammer Museum because I'm an art lover," he explained of why he happened to be at the event. "I'm just here to enjoy the party!"
Not the best way to woo, if wooing was the objective of the evening, cause Mas Tequila can lead to
and its gonna be a friend who's going to be holding your hair back when the worm turns on you.
Could Ted be anymore obvious with the Jake Austin connection? But he did sum it up best.
What, are you two studs too embarrassed to get frisky for all to see? Screw the proper Hollywood dating etiquette and do dumb, young-love stuff next time you're out with your significant other.
Oh Ted. Coffee trips can be exciting, it just depends on who's the pair putting the cream in the coffee.

Sophia Bush: New Boyfriend, New Career Move?
Saturday night in LA. The Art of Elysium thing. Austin didn't do the red carpet or pictures with Sophia.
I have a couple of thoughts about the Sophin appearance, not sure what to make of them.
E! appears to be the only gossip site that had this story, with some other spots picking up on the E! story. Not even JJ, which was the site to fuel all the rumors in the first place and run with the other photos, mentioned Austin. I find that particulary odd. Some of the other sites I've seen that covered the event didn't mention Austin, neither did ONTD--it was all about the fashion.
Now where it also gets interesting is that of course Party Girl was Ted's intern, and she certainly made a point of ambushing Austin on this story (good for her) in a way that maybe someone else might not have had the nerve to do. We know exactly why she was doing this--and then Ted picked up the ball and ran with it (I still can't believe that headline of his :-D ).
So, if not for Party Girl's agenda, would would we have had any stories about Austin being there if not for E? I can't imagine they'd want
Read the link another one posted and that is different event from the one E cover. The Art of Elysium was Sat. The Hollywood Style part was Sunday. Interesting that Jake has attended The Art of Elysium events in the past. BTW - WEHT Kiki - talk about dropping off the face of the celebrity watch.
Twitter was banging out the links on the E story with over 40 retweets last night.

Sophia Bush & Austin Nichols Hold Hands
Sophia Bush stops by The Bonnie Hunt Show on Tuesday (October 13) and shares that she’s honored that she was be asked to join the organization Teachers Count because her teachers were so influential in who she has become.
The 27-year-old One Tree Hill actress said, “I think particularly with young people in the entertainment industry, the focus has gotten inappropriate. When people can have careers which consist of nothing but going to parties…and they get paid to go to parties because they’ve been less than clothed…it’s not something I can believe in. The ‘I”ll do anything to be famous’ standard doesn’t last.”
As for what she finds sexy, Sophia said, “I think smart is sexy because that’s all that lasts.”
We bet Austin Nichols is a very smart man, then! (They were spotted holding hands at Sunday’s Hollywood Style Awards.)

Back from crafting overseeing the retiree craft elves who I enlist to make things to sell.
They were filming the big Pfizer convention scene today with the 400 hundred extras. And doing the Macarena is definitely Vida del 1997, and such corporate everyone join in and have fun shtick at those kinds of things.
But seeing Jake do the Macarena would be hysterical, wonder if he put some of that bullriding/Jarhead Santa Hat hip action into it?
What I meant Destiny was, that Sunday night was not the only event the went to over the weekend.
I think the reason it was written up over the weekend was it was a holiday week and something small like that site might not have updated over the weekend. What is unique about that link is that they are the only one to mention attendance at The Art of Elysium event.
Just an OTH observation. Watching Bonnie Hunt this morning. Sophia was guest #2, Christian Slater was Bonnie's first guest. Who's first and who's second on a show lets you know who higher up the ladder. It interesting that Sophia is the only one who gets to do press now that Chad and Hil have left. She also did a local spot on LA's CW station's morning show this weekend. It makes me think that she has a deal that this is the year of Brooke that is what kept got her to stay for Season 7. Why Austin's part as Julian is more supportive good boyfriend, someone to advance Brooke's storyline that a filled out character of his own.

Thanks so much, Tom. Just got home and doing a load of laundry that I have to get done or my laundry thingy is going to overflow. Dad is in this coma like state. He hasn't woken up since over 24 hrs ago. Mom won't leave his side hardly at all.
Anyway, not to bring that all the time to the table, but it is something along with hearing from friends, family, and even all the LJ readers. How inspiring. It really is uplifting just to know people are thinking of you.
m, I hope your car survived the storms? That is stressful. I remember having a new car a couple of times and having the threat of hail storms. Talk about another stressful time!
The macarena. lol. I remember doing that at the Royals game. It was the first time I had really heard that song; it's addictive. This filming sounds like a hoot. I'd love to go to work and do the macarena, that would be alot more fun than data entry, lol.
I still need to watch OTH; don't know when that's going to happen. I'm kind of surprised they're making such a huge deal about Nathan's situation. 1) He's not an established, long time successful pro athlete yet and 2) He's still single on the show, is he not? So it's a bit less scandalous than were he married. Maybe I'm just getting a little immune to some of these situations.

PG, I feel so bad for you. Hang in there. My car made it ok but there were many limbs down in the lot near other cars. I passed many fallen trees on my way home. One in particular about 1/2 mile from home, was beautiful. Huge too, and it was down, totally toppled.
Re the POP pitch. I cant recall the exact discussion, but I know we've talked about the time line for POP casting and Ted's allegation that Toothy was doing coke with a bigwig to land a big part. That the movie was being pitched as far back as 2003 lends credence to the that story.
