You've seen Austin play high school English teacher, Noah Barnett on Friday Night Lights.
But he played a student too. A high school student in the TV drama Pasadena.
Pasadena was one of the best canceled shows that no one ever caught. the show follows the Greeleys of Pasadena, a completely f'd up power-family in California who not only owns the biggest newspaper in town seems to own the police as well. The show as cynical and dark, too dark for the timing (two weeks after 9/11/) with implied incest, the drug abuse, the murders, the suicides, the conspicuous consumption, an over-sexed minister, a corrupt therapist, a body buried in the bushes and general insanity (hmmm...sounds like some similarities to a show on HBO about a another Southern California family)
Pasadena is about Lily McAllister, shelter pampered 15 year old who witnesses the suicide of a stranger in the dining room of her family's luxe Pasadena home. She was unprepared for the blasé, unconcerned reactions of the her family to the appalling spectacle. So she sets out to find out why the man killed himself and why no one in the family seemed to care that he did. Doing so she began to methodically unearth a number of family secrets -- and in the process, put herself in jeopardy.
Where does Austin come in?
Lily goes to see a psychiatrist, Dr. Darwell, to talk about her issues with what has been happening. Spotted at his dad's office, Dr. Darwell's teenage son, Charlie, (Austin) makes friends with Lily. Friends first date later is Charlie's agenda.
Soon Lily accepts a date with Charlie, and shares her problems with him. Later she convinces Charlie to let her look through his father's files for information about Philip Parker, the man who killed himself in her dining room. In the process they find a series of tapes of sessions Charlie's dad with her brother Robert, when he was a teenager, who confesses to a murder on tape. Lily wants to take the tapes to the police, but Charlie refuse knowing that his father could lose his practice or go to jail if his role in the cover-up is exposed. Lily goes to her other brother Henry, who assures Lily that they can go back and steal the tapes while Charlie is at school.
Charlie got played! Least he got a little taste of her Bonnie Bell lip smacker.
Pasadena really didn't get a chance to find its way. It debuted two weeks after 9/11 most of the US was not in a place for such a dark storyline. Only four episodes were originally aired in the U.S., although thirteen were filmed, before it was canceled. The last episode wraps the mystery of the suicide and how it fits in with the Greeleys. In 2003 and 2004, all thirteen episodes were aired in various countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Colombia, New Zealand, Denmark, South Africa and China. In 2005, SoapNet in the US aired the entire series.
Austin was in some good acting company on the show including Dana Delany, Martin Donovan, Nathan Filion, Mark Valley, Balthazar Getty, Natasha Gregson Wagner, Philip Baker Hall and Barbara Babcock.
And what's Pasadena's connection to Jake? Mike White conceived and wrote Pasadena who wrote Good Girl and has been seen hang out with Jake this past spring.
And the OTH connection? Sophia grew up in Pasadena.

If Austin is the boy toy who doesn't like playing second fiddle, he really has only himself to blame. Sounds like it would be Austin because Reeke powerplayed over Maggie & Peter's wedding while Austin had to hide during that. And Austin has had to hide for 3 years while Jake "moves in", plays stepdad, goes on family vacays, glams it up for the parties, and shops to high heaven.
I would imagine that's why Austin now looks so happy having his own career & life now. He's not sitting around waiting on Jake to come visit.
I could see any partner getting mad about the extent to which Reeke played it out over the past 2 years, especially. Interesting to think about why they've played it down in the media for the past several months. Could be several factors involved, including some ticked off attitude on the part of Austin, you never know. IF the boys are still together.
That's the only thing bugging me. I'm still trying to figure out when these 2 guys are supposedly getting together. Jake's filming all week long and so is Austin. And that only leaves the weekends of which a couple of those Jake's in NYC with Ice Maiden. I have no idea when they're supposed to be hooking up - I can't see it.
Well, just a few thoughts. I could really go off further about it but I don't feel like hearing from the disgruntled ones. Who by the way, seem to have "disappeared" again on this 6 or 7 comment day as well as yesterday's.

i can't understand what drives them to post here in the first place. i have no interest in going to GB or any of the other sites to spread my thoughts and feelings. i went to the pic thread at dc to look for some pics of jack for LB, and just skimming thru the commentary almost made me hurl. i just am so 'a thousand miles away' from their attitude there, that even reading it squicks me. but i didn't say one thing against them, because that's their place to post their ideas and that's all fine. it's not like we are staging the overthrow of the free world here. why does anyone care what WE think about jbg or an? it's a mystery.
i find this total dearth of jbg news kinda odd, but i guess we have to blame it on all the filming. i am not thrilled about another year of reeking, but i'm not surprised if it goes on till after POP comes out. i believe Jake's main goal with all this is to straighten out his image in order to save his career - that's really important to him now. imo, this all probably started because of how possibly-gay he was looking post bbm. he was already slated to do pop by then, and i'm sure disney put the pressure on him to straighten up fast. if reese hadn't been available, someone else would've gotten the job. in the long run, since it's just a fauxmance, what does it matter who he's with. i just hope he's able to have a little bit of his own life on the sides, out of sight, so he can get happy sometimes.

Not disgruntled at all, Just don't believe those two are together anymore. Don't even believe the bi is about Jake, Austin or Reese, but if it is, Ted is just firing up the base. That's the way I see it. No, not disgruntled, just not blind and don't see it.
Ok I can see the reasoning for bearding if "Brothers" is an Oscar contender. But beyond that WHY? For "Prince of Persia"? Again, WHY? Teenage boys don't give 2 shits about Reese Witherspoon, and it's gonna be those dudes that are the target audience for this movie, right? Hi guys, I'm back,post Windows 7. First and foremost, thank you PG for the shout out. I printed the new chapters and will read them tonight. My favorite time to read is in bed before falling asleep. Can't wait.
My but Austin was adorable. No wonder Jake fell so hard. And for the record that latest about the bearding contract going 1 more year was not from Ted but from another gossip site. I guess it surfaced because of that In Style article. Me, I still think the guys are together, just deeper in the closet and I am glad to hear Austin is getting sick of it. I think his mutual bearding is partly revenge.
As to windows 7, no problems with my personal stuff but I could not make the link to working from home work. Major crisis as working from home 1 day a week is nirvana. I would give up half my salary to keep that. My husband spent the whole day working with our IT to get it going. Thank God they got it going.
I've said before I think PR pays staff to harass WFT and OMG. The intermittent blitz is one of the reasons. Like someone has it on their diary.

Think Jake and Austin are together and being on the East coast has made a bit easier to for them to spend time together, ergo you don't see either out and about much on weekends and down time. Sounds like the whole family has headed East for a bit, including Mr. Atticus. With the premiere for Brothers and press looking to be all NY based looks like everyone is East Coast at least until One Tree Hill breaks for the holidays.

i too think that the BI gossip really sounded like reeke, and austin fits as the boy toy, in my mind, becuase he's the lesser known of the two of them and boy toy is kinda derogative. the majority of the comments pointed at it being jake and reese as well. :)

as for jake's bearding: i don't think the fans would turn on him. he was at the height of his popularity right after bbm and he acknowledged that he had a unique fanbase that loved him on SNL.
but then, almost overnight, the old jake disappeared and reeke emerged. i think this is totally a response on his part to the higher ups saying he had to look straight for the roles he'd already signed up for, namely POP.
who knows, maybe once it's over, he'll get free, but i still wonder if he will feel strong enuf to come out. his career is his life right now - at least as far as we can see - and i'm sure it's extremely important to him. if he feels coming out will jeapordize that, then he probably won't do it. i wouldn't do something that would jeapordize my career, so even tho i don't like it, i can't really criticize him either.

Me? I am still thinking about tiny taco trio of carnitas, pescado, and shrimp tacos I had.
Oh yeah, I had my favorite pasta salad and the waldorf salad, although they've "economized" the waldorf salad and it is not quite the ephiphany that it once was when we were there, Special. But it is still outstanding. You know one thing I love about that place is the staff is so nice and outstanding. Every single time I eat there.
Last night, I bet about 5 staffers said goodnight, have a nice evening, thanks for coming, see us again, etc. It was like one of those corny stadium waves, lol. But they are just always like that. I'm sure that helps keep customers coming back and they had a full house last night. I'm glad.

he timing is interesting if it is Reeke since Rome was two years ago past week, and that seems when the original contract happened.
About that I wonder if the original contract was this long to begin with. Why? Because it would have been long enough for the original PoP release of this past July but would have fallen between that and Brothers. The break up wouldn't look so odd a few months after PoP came out and so close to Brothers open it would have been too soon to talk about in press for Brothers.
My bad rereading the BI. I read it wrong about the boytoy part of it, and that is his boytoy and not him. It still could be the reason for Ted's chatter about Jake being restless, if Austy ain't happy, somebody's (Jake)not going to get a happy.
i could see reese going along with a long contract back then because she's said in interviews that her divorce hit her pretty hard. (i know lots of folks disagree with that, but i tend to believe it. a divorce can hurt for many reasons.)
anyway, i can see her taking a couple of years off to recover, heal, do other stuff, etc, but eventually - isn't she going to want to date again? i mean, jake might be doing some undercover stuff with austin, but reese gets nothing much from staying undercover if she finds a man she really likes and wants to start over.

BI is definetly Reeke. Still think it is tied to Pop, and it would look really bad if they broke up the minute it came out, especially from Reese's point of view. I think they originally had a shorter one, but may have been forced to renew it another year, hence some of Austin's unhappiness.

And I don't see any sign that the kids hang with Jake except for photoshoots and that weekend in MV. Those kids don't know Jake very well at all; it's plain as day. Not only that but he doesn't care all that much about them; he's shown it in his body language.
And Special, I was just going to say that you had a good point too in that Jake could well be considered a boy toy. That's how she treats him.
But no matter. Somebody's a boy toy. And my bets are certainly that if the boy toy is Austin, that he hasn't been hardly thrilled at playing second fiddle. But he certainly looks happy now.
The one thing puzzling me is how the two guys could possibly be hooking up. The distance between Pitt and Wilmington. They're both filming during the week. Sounds like Jake was in CA last weekend and he's been in NYC with Ice Maiden two other weekends. And Austin in California one weekend and possibly TX another. Those trips alone make me question Jake or Austin's commitment to anyone else, namely a partner and/or a family. Not that there's nothing normal about spending weekend with others but the fact that they don't get to see each other during the week, why would you then spend a weekend away from your lover or more importantly, your kid.
And this goes for Reese. Good mother my foot. I'd love to know of a loving mother who would rather spend her free weekends shopping and having meals with co stars than flying out to visit her two kids when she had a chance. Money is no problem for her; she's got it flying out of her ears. And I don't care if it is across country. When you're a mom and you have two small ones, you're dying to see them. She puzzles the heck out of me on this subject.

I LOVE crinkle cut fries, especially when they're long and squishy. The squishier the better.
