Tex for Tat

This weekend is one of the biggest rivalries in all of American sports Univ. of Texas vs. Oklahoma for college football. And we all know Austin is a proud Longhorn fan.

But would he show his Texas pride with a tat? The mind wanders wonders:

And some Jake on a Austin Friday.

Fran Healy and Andy Dunlop of Travis were back talking their inspirations at their“A Chronological Acoustical Journey Through The Travis Back Catalogue: Laugh Out Loud Stories, Scottish Accents, Handsome Scottish Men, Naked Torsos” show again. They didn’t deliver on the “naked torsos” promise but delivered slides, a pole poll and Jake in Austin. (their Austin show)

"And there aren’t too many performers who take time out from their het parade to go to the slide projector and poll the audience on whether they prefer the musclebound Jake Gyllenhaal (click) to the more slimmed-down Jake (click)."

Good morning, all! It's good to know that there have been more than four of us lately, right? LOL.

Thanks once again to everyone for your thoughts. It's meant everything and I just want you to know that.

Anyway, hook 'em horns!! I hear they shut down those schools for that day.

I am not a tat fan but I love the placing of a few of those tats. The one on the nape of his neck and on his iliac line are my favorites. Oh, and the one on his left breast is good, too.

Everyone have a good day today and happy Austin Friday.

I like the ilac line one too, and the last one. Not a tattoo fan either, but what a great "excuse" to see all these photos.

Dear Ted:
All of this talk about Obama's refusal to support marriage equality is leaving me oddly nostalgic for Will & Grace. I know that Eric McCormack is married with kids, and Sean Hayes refuses to comment on his sexuality, but are these two honestly not gay?
—Nancy

Dear Loaded Q:
Oh, please, that's what everybody said about Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal after Brokeback Mountain, remember? Aren't we past this stuff yet?

Dear Ted:
Sometimes I feel like Jekyll and Hyde are writing your column, sometimes in the same post, no less. Take your answers to letters earlier this week about Toothy Tile. First you tell us you can't respect Toothy since he doesn't respect himself. To this reader that sounds like you think someone who beards has no self-respect and doesn't deserve respect. Then you turn around and say Toothy has a beard to stay relevant. You seem to be implying that is a good thing, so taken together, it sounds like you're saying if only Toothy would respect himself for bearding, he'd be OK in your book.
—Puzzled

Dear No and No:
I'm not justifying Toothy's reasoning, just explaining why in his mind (and his handlers) a beard is worth the trouble. It does keep him relevant, especially since his career is lackluster lately. Doesn't mean I agree with it.

Dear Ted:
I demand that you give me a straight answer. If you could pick the top three husbands in Hollywood...for being good husbands, fathers and all-around good guys (and not fakes)...who would they be? Thanks hon!
—Sandy

Dear Sugar Daddys:
Hanks, Smith and Gyllenhaal (to Reese's kids, of course; don't coffee-klatch fams count, too?).

Awful Truth

Wow Ted said that Jakey is a hubby and a daddy - and didn't really mean just playing one to Ava & Deacon.

Timing is everything with the little T.

sienna said...

that person included the condition that the person not be fake! is ted saying that jbg isn't fake? that really goes against everything we've thought he said about him. now i'm confused! s.

m said...

Ted can be so confusing, but I think he may be referring to Jake being a real dad, with the mention of Reese's kids as just another cover up for the truth. Who knows though. Some days I think he lightens up on Jake to make up for being so hard on him.

The article on coming out, posted in entirety on WFT2, was pretty interesting. It may have been Jake who was on the verge of coming out as we know. Ted said he had even spoken to a magazine exploring the possibility of the reveal. I will never lose hope for Jake.

Ted mentioned today a closeted guy who hit on a journalist. Does anyone else think it may have been Ted himself, newly single, who was hit on. He wonders if it will stay secret, but if it was not Ted, then how did he hear about it in the first place unless someone told.

I think Ted sees the realpolitik in what Jake is doing and doesn't respect that, but still likes him as a person and thinks he isn't fake ... I can see that.

I like the nape tat best :)

PG, my deepest commiserations, I can't say more.

destiny, belated HB!

Thanks London.

Well, Ted cleared up one mystery about the conflicting TT letters, then left us another puzzler. Could be a reference to a Baby Tile. Then there is the fact he has Will Smith in there, rumored to be living on the down low. But then how does Hanks fit into that? One of each--a real family, a closeted man with a real family with his beard, and a closeted gay man hiding his own family while pretending to be a stepdad to others? And the coffee klatch does imply it's not a real family with Reese's kids.

Truth, Lies & Ted: Is Brad Pitt Saying Buh-Bye?

Is Brad Pitt giving up his film career for something smaller? What—or who—is keeping Gerard Butler up at night? And what the hell is really going on with Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols? Didn't they learn from David Letterman that you shouldn't date where ya work?

Find out in this week's Truth, Lies & Ted!

I think Ted is saying that Jake really is a hubby and Dad, and added the bit in parentheses to pass E! Legal muster. I think he detests bearding as we all do, but has respect for TT, GG and family. :)

I'm not big on tats, but sometimes I can appreciate them. :)

Stephen Gately’s Death Becomes A Tale Of Gay Sex, Homophobia And ‘Murder’

A Columnist Calls Out Stephen Gately's Death As Suspicious. Now All Of Twitter Wants Her Dead

Don't blame yourself if you've never heard of Jan Moir. We hadn't until today, either. But then Jan penned a Daily Mail column about the mysterious death of Boyzone singer Stephen Gately. And according to those blowing up Twitter about it, she said some very mean things about the homosexual lifestyle.
This is a snapshot of Twitter taken just moments ago:
...
Why's everyone so upset? Something about, uh, the way she phrased things:
...
The Twitter (and Facebook) kids are so upset, they're filing notifications with Britain's Press Complaints Commission and circulating the contact information of the Mail's advertisers. It's unclear whether the Mail will issue an apology, but the newspaper is undoubtedly paying attention; it already changed Moir's headline from "Why there was nothing 'natural' about Stephen Gately's death" to "A strange, lonely and troubling death . . ."

Adam's boyfriend Drake is straight!

prairiegirl said...

Thanks so much, London, that means alot; you have no idea. Doing okay, Tom! We are hanging in there. Alot of family time, alot of laughs, and tears at the oddest, most spontaneous times.

My brother says the new rule is if you come in to visit, you need to leave with a dish. We are getting so many wonderful dishes & trays of food, it's unbelievable the outpouring.

Boy, so ol' Ted just doesn't stop dishing it, does he? lol.

Is there just any doubt who TT is? It's the biggest open secret I think in Hollywood. Very funny.

Well, I am going to see if I can get a little bit of 31b written, people. See if we can't get 31a & 31b up sometime rather soon. 31a is virtually done but 31b needs to be finished so we have no interruption in the slash.Cannot have slash interruption, no sireee.

Someone on WFT suggested that Ted was being sarcastic with his answers about the good husband and fathers. Now that makes more sense, although I've never heard anything about Hanks, so is he saying he cheats???? And Will Smith well, rumored to be a marriage in name only, and Jake pretending to be boyfriend and stepfather to others while hiding his own family.

Boy that Daily Mail article is nasty, implying that being gay is somehow a problem, or at least that is how I read it. Didn't seem like it was trying to say these things happen because of how hard it can be for gay people, or probably more accurately, does this woman write articles hinting that the straight lifestyle is wrong when someone straight dies? And the fact that a couple may have an open relationship is not necessarily tied to the fact that someone may have a drinking or drug problem. After all, you only hear about things when something goes wrong, not when things are okay.

sienna said...

i've never heard anything negative about tom hanks either, and to be honest, i hope i never do. it's nice to have a couple of really good guys out there in the fray. mel gibson sure turned out to be a disappointment, altho who knows what his life was like and it's certainly not my place to judge. i just know that - for me - i like to think that some folks are the real deal and genuinely happy. maybe rdj and his wife are living that life.

i've heard all that stuff about will smith, but i'm not on that bandwagon. maybe i'm wrong, but he and jada certainly don't give off a "fake" vibe to me. so to throw jake in with hanks and smith really makes the whole thing seem bizarre.

but jake is not a husband or a father, at least not as far as reese and her children are concerned. i don't think you become automatically married after sharing so many cups of coffee.

it's all very odd. but i do love a mystery. :)

Oh Ted said...

I thought the article in the Daily Mail was terrible as well - I thought the same thing, Destiny, noone attacks the entire institution of straight marriage with a "See? I toldja so." It's awful. I'm glad there was an outcry because things like this are what keep people down, and that a lot of companies pulled their advertising.

BTW, I heard a great song by Stephen Gately and Boyzone, it's about couples settling into coupledom and how their love has changed into something better, that includes a same sex couple as well as straight couples. Very nice. :)

href = Better

I'm not sure I'm on that bandwagon about Will Smith either, and Tom Hanks I haven't heard anything about. I still feel that Ted is linking TT and his lovely family with "super" domesticated family life and other HW couples like that, both gay and straight, as he has always done.

Oh Ted said...

Oops, sorry about that link:

Good morning to some of you! It's great to see people up early even on a Saturday morning. Boy, I sure hope we see some sun today. We've had grey/misty days since I can remember.

Thanks for mentioning a song, oh Ted. I like it when people mention a new song they've been hearing or just a song that they like. It's a good way to hear something maybe that you would not ever hear unless someone mentions it. I haven't watched VH-1 since I started watching Wake Up With Al on the Weather Channel so I'm afraid I'm missing out on good songs. I also don't listen to the radio in my car anymore because I listen to my own cd's that I create.

I can see about Will Smith except you know what is different there is that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett seem to really love each other and get along. They seem to have a great family life but I swear, if the rumors are true, that is still just one jacked up situation. I just don't get it.

How confusing would that be? Do you really know who you are? To me, it seems there would still be some kind of non-acceptance situation going on. Although I get it about the whole "I need to do this to get the kind of movie roles I want". What a situation. The whole thing is just jacked up.

I don't know. All I can say is I am glad I don't have to worry about it. Right?

Oh Ted said...

^^Right! You're welcome, PG.

prairiegirl said...

Just watched it. That was a good song and I liked how it just focused on two couples' faces. The smile that the guy gives his partner was a beautiful one, wasn't it?

You make things better. Simple line but it is so true.

prairiegirl said...

Uh, I meant a couple's faces. Not two couples'. lol.

I was just looking at those pictures on IHJ with Jake and his dad. Boy, did Jake look sharp there in that red polo.Where are those days when he would wear red?

But anyway, it was nice to see those. Notice how Jake's lips are pursed in every single picture.

Love the skateboard. I wonder if he would still be able to skateboard today? lol. You know, some of us as we grow older, kind of lose those "abilities".

Yes, I thought so too. :)
