This week we take a look at lesbian poet, Audre Lorde. Lorde was born in New York City to Caribbean immigrants. Lorde wrote her first poem in the 8th grade. In 1954, Lorde spent a year at the University of New Mexico, a time that she stated transformed her and cemented her identity as a lesbian and a poet. When she returned to New York, she became an active participant in the gay culture of Greenwich Village.
Lorde finished college and got a master's of library science degree from Columbia in 1961. She also married and had two children, later divorcing her husband. Lorde's work was published regularly throughout the '60s and her themes were civil rights, anti-war, and feminist. Lorde then began exploring lesbian themes in her poetry and life. She met Frances Clayton, who became her partner until 1989. Then Lorde met Gloria Joseph and was partnered with her until Lorde's death in 1992 from breast cancer.
Lorde's poetry is significant for its focus on the erotic. She was one of the first women writing lesbian erotic poetry and is regarded as one of the founding mothers of this genre. Lorde did one of the first public readings of lesbian erotic poetry in 1971. Lorde had this to say about the erotic-
"We tend to think of the erotic as an easy, tantalizing sexual arousal. I speak of the erotic as the deepest life force, a force which moves us toward living in a fundamental way."

Love the choice of music today! CTHD is one of my most favorite soundtracks, and movies! An Ang Lee masterpiece!

ME, I was lucky enough to see Yo-Yo Ma performing Chinese music at the Smithsonian for free years ago. People were lined up down the block to see him. When he arrived, he looked around at all the people and asked who we were there for! He seemed really shocked when we told him we were all there for him!
The program was a performance and explanation of Chinese music and its structure. Ma and the other musicians performed and explained Chinese music and musical scale and related it to Western music. For the first time I understood and was able to appreciate Chinese music. If you ever get a chance to see Yo-Yo Ma, do it! He was truly a humble and gracious man and an amazing performer!

I've never had the opportunity to see the miastro in person, but I've nearly worn out several of his CDs, listening to his mastery as I write, including the CTHD soundtrack.

Perfect music too - I like the rhythm of the drums in the background as well as the crying string instruments. I tend to be drawn to piano music, but also strings because they are so expressive of emotion. Can you believe I haven't seen CTHD? My husband has and loved it. How lucky you are to have seen Yo-Yo Ma, for free as well. I never have and would love to. He does seem to be a very unassuming person for one having such talent. :)
fudging dates?, we don't know if they were taken the same day or at Craft. Just because they are labeled that way doesn't mean that is where they were. We have seen plenty times before that pap agencies and the blogs can write incorrect info on sightings. That is why people should stop freaking out about Atti in the car because we have no idea where and when that happened or how long he was in there. Jake has always seemed like a very responsible dog owner.

Hugues-Adhémar Cuénod (born June 26, 1902) is a Swiss tenor born in Corseaux-sur-Vevey.
Hugues Cuénod received his training at the Ribaupierre Institute in Lausanne, at the conservatories in Geneva and Basel, and also in Vienna. He started his career as a concert singer. In 1928, he made his stage debut in Ernst Krenek's Jonny spielt auf in Paris, and in 1929 he sang for the first time in the U.S. in Noel Coward's Bitter Sweet. OK, I don't know why this bothers me so f'king much, but when someone tells me to stop freaking out, someone that doesn't know me from Adam's housecat and has only read my words on a 2-D screen, my teeth start to grind to the beat of a hidden agenda.
Pointing out obvious inconsistencies with picture dates is not 'freaking out'. Flynet has recently been caught fudging dates with pics of Reese, so it's conceivable that they would do so again to help bail out the sinking HMS Reeke, considering they also eat from the beard pie. Perhaps they should have checked the pics more closely before any date changing, they would have seen a rather large German Shepard in the back seat.
Pointing out the negligence of leaving an animal in the car while one dines is not 'freaking out.' It's just stating a fact, and whether Jake did leave Atticua sitting there alone in the back seat or not, it doesn't change the the inherent truth in the original statement.

Please, only once, i promise. No one knows that Jake was being negligent with Atti yet people were jumping to all sorts of conclusions about how long he was in the car and how badly Jake was treating him. Yes, imo that is freaking out. The comments were directed at Jake, not at animal rights. Yes the pap agencies are known to fudge dates and info so again jumping to conclusions about where and what Jake and Reese were doing is freaking out imo. You disagree I don't really care. I am allowed my opinion as much as you are.
Until the wreckage of his personal life (family break-ups, loneliness, semi-estrangement from the gay community, distance from family and best friend) and his career (he does not have many films lined up) clears up, Reese is going to be around. He still needs her. It's regrettable and manipulative, but completely understandable.
I personally think they need a strategy meeting. jeese has certainly backfired on Jake. It has brought more people to question his sexually than ever. I certianly believe it has brought more folks to the jausty fandom. Tons of fans are reading the comments on the sights like Perez, Just Jared, and Dlisted when a jeese or Jake thread is posted and are becoming aware of the rumors surrounding Jake's sexuality. When you see or read about jeese you also read about Jake's fascination with Rufus. You read about "The ring". You hear about Toothy. You hear about Ted. This has made Jake look so bad and so weak. I cant believe he just hasnt flipped his lid. The negative publicity he has reseived about his reaction to Heath's death has been incredible. Jake is an intelligent young man when is he gonna end this nonsense. Plus I can't believe that reese isnt tired of the bad press she has gotten. We all have heard the negative comments about her parenting. Ryan has certainly had the stage set to patch up his image. Somebody hasn't earned their money. Jake has got to go back to being Jake and reese needs to go back to her goodie two shoes image. What a mess this has turned into.
I loved seeing Jake in that awesome tee shirt he had on. I loved hearing that Jake was out and about with his friends. I loved seeing Jake finally with his dog. Nothing PR can do can make jeese a positive story. What they need to do is establish clearly that Jake and reese are just friends and stop making fools out of these two people.
I've got an idea for Jake to help him through all this -
stop lying, stop bearding. Embrace who he is, acknowledge the love of his life, walk proud, walk unapologetic. There that clears up the gay community estrangment. And, wanna bet, the loneliness, too.
He doesn't need to hide behind Reese and heterosexuality in order to be happy. It's obviously not working anyway, just look at his face in every picture since Rome.

anon @ 1:11.. I've also thought that sometimes, but surely there would have to be some visible chemistry. Currently they look like a very unhappy and dull couple who after several years of marriage have realised that they probably never liked each other in the first place.

Forgot to add my two cents on the Craft sighting. If it's real, I think she may have used the word cannodling because there wasn't anything going on to describe. There is also something about the way it is tossed off that almost sounds tongue-in-cheek to me, as if what else would you see at restaurant like Craft.

Yo-Yo Ma was one of the most humble people I have ever met. Came in by himself through the front door of the museum, carrying his cello on his back. Looked like a regular guy. He was so nice. I was close enough that I could have reached out and touched him. The cello is my favorite instrument, so I really wanted to touch a living legend, but I did restrain myself!

I think the Craft sighting reads credible. Any type of affection can be described as "canoodling," from holding hands or rubbing someone's back to full-on making out. I agree with Destiny that there might not have been a lot going on to describe.
I think the pics are from 2/15, although they are dated 2/13 on IHJ. I think if they were from 2/13, they would have come out on either 2/14 or 2/15, not 2/16. Atticus is in the car but we don't know where they are going, do we? Do we know if they are near the restaurant?

I think that Jake was lonely way before Reeke. Closeted people usually are, especially when they are living in the wrong city (NY is more his style, not LA), around the wrong people (drunks, druggies, party-goers, people in rehab or in trouble with the law, idiots - Jake is a brainy, relationship-oriented homebody).
I wanted to add another endorsement for ONTD! The site's not for everyone, it can be quite explicit and vicious, but you quickly learn what you're letting yourself in for after reading a couple of posts. It's the commentary that's made it so winning; it's absolutely golden and some of the funniest stuff I've read anywhere. But in amongst the joking, you'll sometimes come across unexpected insight - as m said, someone noted Atticus' calm demeanor considering his owner was being approached by strangers - and for me, wit + sharp insight = the best.
On the last thread, someone wondered if Jake had received a bearding assignment call while out with Atticus. That wouldn't surprise me in the least. I used to worry that I was too out there in my thoughts about Reeke, but no more. It couldn't get much more ridiculous than this latest group of photos.
I think it's entirely possible Jake does not know how negative the fan reaction has been. We've seen him using a lap top but with his life he can't have much time to noodle around the web. He is dependent on his staff to keep him informed and if PR is failing, do you really think they are going to tell him and risk being fired? I don't know what Stephanie does or studies or whatever but by the way she runs and mods IHJ, writes and carries herself it sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders. I wish I had been that mature at her young age (is she like 18?).

If you're going by maps its 13 minutes listed. Maps go by the center of the city (city halls and police stations, etc) not by residential areas so add on another 10 minutes at least. and this is map only, not traffic. in southern california there is no relationship between travel distance and travel time. distance means shit. It might only be 15 miles on the 'freeway' but it'll take you an hour to get there, seriously. my guesstimate is about least 30 minutes by street from RW home in Brentwood to CC CAA offices.

not to agree or disagree with the above post or the original one but i think jake has a lot of time to be on the web. acting in a film while its being shot is a lot of waiting around. and research for roles and stories or whatever is on the web so i dont think he's ignorant about what goes on. he must be tempted to check things out on himself while hes doing stuff on the internet dontcha think?
I agree, time on his hands. Actors have a huge amount of free time on the set and as much time off as they want. As a normal working person my daily schedule is very hectic and yet I find the time to be on the internet. I'd be more than happy to trade my work schedule with an actor's.
I'm pretty sure that Jake has at least an inkling of what's being said about him. Reese is probably so stuck to care (she'll regret that I'm sure). Whether they do or not I'm sure that the people with the money in HW do take account of what's said and make offers accordingly.

Producer, I agree with you. I think he knows what is being said about him, especially in light of Heath's death--which is why People, that clearing house for publicists, had that story about Jake being so "devastated" about Heath's death--because his PR people and probably he had an idea what the fans were saying about him!
The problem with these two is that they're smug, dishonest and self-entitled and they truly think they are above everyone else. I think Jake has always been a snob but never has it been so reinforced as it has with his present "relationship" with Reese.
This maybe a deluded thought, actually it is a deluded thought, but, i've always felt that what's kept jake from being a self-entitled, smug, unpleasant snob for the past few years is Austin. I've always felt that Austin's influence helped keep Jake somewhat grounded, having someone who will say you're being a dick is important. Somehow this influence has lessened (or did lessen over the summer) hence Reeke, and we now have Reese bringing out all Jake's worse characterstics.
Get the boy back in line Austin pronto before he totally runis his career.

I think Austin and Jake's sister, Maggie, are the two people in his life who are not afraid to call Jake on his shit and tell him he's being an asshole. I think most of the people who surround Jake otherwise, enable him, coddle him, tell him he's perfect, wonderful 24/7. Those two don't and are not afraid to tell him off.
As for Austin being with someone else...don't know but that person would be very lucky. But I think recent suspicious developments--the reappearance of the blue ring, Jake wearing clothes this week that don't look like his (the pants are not his, unless he likes to wear pants that are clearly for someone several inches taller), make me think he's back in the picture. Does Reese know? Does she care? Who knows. This is Hollyweird we're talking about.
I think Jake has the potential to be very snooty, I've never doubted that. Although sometimes I think what is perceived as snootiness is actually just aloofness. He gets trapped in his own little bubble a lot of the time, but I think he's basically a nice guy. I also think he's one of these people with a sponge-y personality; he easily and unwittingly soaks up the personality traits of whomever he's with. My opinion is if you look back it seems like after a Jake-alone pic is released a Reeke one goes out right after or vice versa. Theres a history of that happening (coffee/park pics is the last time) so it doesnt surprise me with these last two med ctr/Reeke pics. Almost as tho 'whoever' wants to REMIND everyone of the coupledom and not have a load of current-day Jake-alone pics out there on the web. Gotta keep it balanced, ya know?
My opinion also is that the J&R car pics were taken on 2/13 but were so negative in Reeke value - running in the straeet, far away from each other, no holding hands, not looking like they were having a good time with each other, Reese hiding her face, no affection, along with the "why the fuck is the dog in the car? potential comment factor (which came true btw) - that they were held back by PR/Photo-Gossip agencies (yea, they're in bed together) since the pics really weren't doing the 'romance' any favors.
But then Jake photographed alone and looking reasonably happy and relaxed at the med ctr the day after Valentines happened even tho he tried to avoid the paps by parking in an alley.
I think the powers that be went and released the 2/13 pics as a 2/15 'dinner date' or whatever just to show that they are still together after Valentines Day. Which implies that they spent Valentines Day together, doesn't it?

The Producer, well tell Natalie Portman, Sean Penn, Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Peter Sarsgaard, Paul Giamatti, Casey Affleck, Josh Brolin, Tobey M., Emil Hirsch, Ben Stiller and Michelle WIlliams, among many other actors because they all use ID PR along with Jake. Reese isn't listed on IMDb Pro as having a PR company. Jake and Reese share management which is a different thing.
As for Jake being snobby, well compared to a lot of actors he seems much more down to earth and easy going. Frankly if you are just going to judge people you don't know by that then you could say Maggie is snobby much more so than Jake. I don't think you can hold people's mood swings or if they have a bad day against them. We all have them. Would you want people to do that to you? Because I sure can make some judgments of you based on your posts and they aren't that great. I like to give people, and that includes Jake, the benefit of the doubt. He seems to have more good qualities than not.
Also, who says the shirt isn't Jake's? He also has his own quirky sense of style when he wants. He work funky jewelry, an owl shirt, still wear's great grandpa cardies and clogs. I think Jake and Austin have that in common. ;)

Actually, my son and most of his friends do buy jeans that fit. Not 80's, George Michael, acid washed snug, but the relaxed kind that hang on the hips, not the crotch between their knees. They left that whole sloppy, ill-fitting, homeless person look back in high school. he says he can't stand to have the bottom cuff of his jeans slip up under his Vans.

Mighta been when he was an unknown who opened for somebody else, can you imagine?! Glad to hear he's still unassuming, modest. He was a humble guy when I saw him. Looked a little scared up on stage playing in front of all the people. Thats one of the reasons why I remember him, because he was so nervous but he calmed down after he got going.

Sorry M but I have to agree with those who disagree with you. It's a documented fact that actors have tons of free time both when they work and when they don't. I think Jake knows very well what would be and what is being said about him, hence his obvious reluctance to give a worthy performance since the beginning of this showmance.

Culinary arts must be the latest HW hobby. I remember when Jake (and others including Anne Hathaway) was always talking about building tables and woodworking but no one ever saw any of his work. Actors are, by nature, very insecure people. Instead of needing the approval of only family and a few friends, they need acceptance from the world.
Actors also must, by nature of the craft, be able to delve and touch deeply emotions and personal issues at the drop of an "Action!", thus requiring all that heart and sleeve carrying. Of course, this makes the great ones performances more 'real', accessible, the ones that touch a chord in the audience for they, too, have dealt with the very same demons.

I agree with checks and balances about the photos and with frenchy, bltb and wicked about Jake's lack of maturity. Also agree with acting coach. I remember that one interview Jake gave about acting and wanting to get the attention he felt he didn't get from his family when he was a kid.

Used to dog hair: Dogs have different hair sheding. Reeses bitch is a french bulldog and they have very short hair and hardly shed. Jake's Shepherd has a longer fuller coat and sheds a lot more. Also Atti is much bigger. And he's a male so he prolly likes to lift that leg every once in a while - and especially in a house not his own. And even tho he's fixed he does hump if given the slightest chance. Its more to do with domination and pecking order than mating.
Dog Hair,
The hair shed from an French Bulldog is neglible, that's why they are such perfect pets for folks with allergies, small apartments or folks that don't want to deal with the clean-up. That's the breed of dog that Reese and fam owns.
Shepards on the other hand, shed tons of hair, from both of their coats. It gets into and onto everything and takes a jet engine vacuum to pick it up. Atticus is probably getting ready for his Spring wardrobe just about now.
In addition to hair, the larger the dog, the bigger the doggie diamonds, the slimier the spit, the muddier the footprints. Atticus, by nature of the breed, is an out-going, full of energy dog and would require tons of exercise. French Bulldogs not so much.
Once again, I just can't see Reese allowing a German Shepard in his prime running through her house.

Used to dog hair: All dog breeds are different in regards to their coats. The rate of hair shedding, the way the coat and skin smells and the skin types are different according to breed, individual dog and age.

Busy running errands today so just catching up now. Major melt down on Eyelashes today. Always happens when a Reeke photo shows up. I don't understand why the "Jake is straight crowd" feel the need to defend their case all over the web. Most of us who think he is gay are polite enough not to bombard or strong arm other sites.
Re the issue of Jake knowing what the public thinks right now. I agree he has free time on set, but based on how he reacted to Allie of IHJ and the Jake Watch gals, he did not seem to be at all familiar with the content of their sites. In Canada some people from EnnisJack.com got his autograph and posted pics/blogged during the Rendition tour. Jake's staff was heard explaining to Jake who they were. He may have time to noodle on the web, but I think he may avoid sites that discuss him. Just my impression of course. We do know his mom sends emails with links to political sites.
Forgot to mention too that someone on DC posted a link with photos of a trip to Rome that Heath took with a girlfriend. Old pics, from even before Naomi. Can't recall the girls name now, but there was more PDA, chemistry and affection displayed in those few Rome photos than in all 65 Reeke Rome photos combined.
Well, Heath liked women, that's the reason.

I don't think we've gone apeshit. It's just that every set of Reeke pictures continue to bring out the fact that Jake does not look happy. The last time he has seemed genuinly relaxed and confident was during the week in NY before Rome.

Because, I am a long time believer in Jake and Austin, but from my vantage point it just looked like they didn't want to be photographed. After all, this kind of contradicts them doing this for "publicity reasons" doesn't it?
