On such an auspicious day as the 29th of February, what else would be the post but Austin.
Looking back it seems that he has matured not only in his acting.
Way back when.....

Many thanks to Hjulia at Austin Media and Spooky2th at Austin Nichols Journal for their amazing Austin pictures, make sure to check them out.
Remember today is day that romance turns on its head, and the lore is that is it the lady's turn to propose. But why should it be only one day to turn romance on it's head, do that every day.

Bringing this from the previous post:
From People:
Jake Gyllenhaal, eating a burger at Father's Office, a Santa Monica bar. There with a friend, the actor sipped on a beer and split a plate of oysters and a cart of sweet potato fries with his companion, all while avoiding being disturbed, a fellow diner reports. With his meal almost finished, the actor looked happy as he moved on to doing some text-messaging.
Special they didnt say if the friend was a male or female. I quess we can figure it was a guy if the fellow diner says friend.
One of my very fav meals is crabcake, sweet potato french fries and beer. I go to a place in New Castle Delaware called Jessups which is awesome.
I love HAPPY!!!!!!
To me friend implies male. I think if he had been with a woman we'd get a description of her or speculation as to whether he was stepping out on Reese, etc. And interesting that it is in People. I do think the tide may be shifting.
Quirky pictures of Austin for a quirky day. Not many people can pull off wearing boots like that. That picture always cracks me up.
Destiny
The shirt in the first pic with Kirsten always makes me grin. Why? Because it reminds me of the fruit striped gum you used to chew as a kid. : )
From IMDb more on the Father's Office sighting.
actually was sitting next to him and a friend in Father's Office in Santa Monica last night. At one point I overheard Jake ask his friend, "Did you watch the debates......I like Obama." Don't know if that means that's his final choice.
For what it's worth he's taller than one might expect.
Tom: You were womdering why Ted seemed to be backing off on TT and wondered if it was because of Heath. But something else has changed: Christina Gibson is no longer the intern/contributer to the column, she left in January a week or so before Heath died. She has her own column now called HW party girl. Ted's new intern is most likely reponsible for the lack of info OMO because I know that Gibson was very aware of the online fandom and even had a LJ account on ONTD, so she was more "aware".
Happy Leap Year OMG -
Tom, that sounds awsome - I love crabcakes, and sweet potato fries. I visited Delaware and Maryland years ago and I had crabcakes morning, noon and night, I think. Love 'em. And fried oysters in Louisiana. We almost relocated to Virginia for a new job for my SO at one time, which would have been very nice. I vote for the next OMG get-together in your next of the woods next time! ;)
Nice sighting of Jake and friend - and to read that Jake may be backing Obama. Always love Austin pics, and with some of the ones I've seen lately, who needs oysters? ;)
It’s nice to hear about Jake out with male friends again. Now if only we could get some accompanying photos.
Cute post. Austin has matured incredibly over the past few years and I like what I’m seeing more and more. :)
And just to add my 2 cents: I love sweet potato fries. If they're on the menu I have to order them.
Yes, we can, can, can!! I knew I'd persuade Jake. But then I have my ways.
Now listen we've had this discussion before.
I am the real Austi Spumanti accept no imitations.
Austin.
Le *SIGH*
Get lost, you skinny twerp. Do you have these arms? Or biceps? I'm the REAL Austin.
Get lost, you skinny twerp. Do you have these arms? Or biceps? I'm the REAL Austin.
Yes, that shirt is pretty funny too Special. It is a very boyish choice, in more than one way. ;)
Listen. All who know. Know who rules. And that is Austi Spumanti.
"Two Austies enter. One Austy leaves. "
GO ELLEN!!!
Watch the video of Ellen talking about the murder of 8th grader Larry King
Heath docs cleared
Exec 1: Okay we got the friend part so he doesn't look alone and pathetic. But it doesn't look like a date either. And we got the eatery name in. Anything else?
Exec 2: Yeah. We gotta make it look like Jakey would rather be with Reese.
(silence for a moment)
Exec 2: I got it. Let's have him texting. You know, it'll be like he's spending time with a buddy but he's just gotta talk to Reese.
Exec 1: Yeah and write that he's happy and smiling while he's doing it. Not like they're having a fight or anything.
Exec 2: Yeah, like it's the big highlight of his day, them two lovebirds checking up on each other.
Exec 1: Yeah it's okay to be rude to friends and loved ones and the deceased when you're all up and Reesed.
Exec 2: (hesitates) You want me to put that in?
Exec 1: Shit no, I just said it 'cause it rhymed.
^^ Yawn
^^^ Nice try.
Thanks Wicked.
Ellen was eloquent and poignant and got to the heart of the matter with out any silly political rhetoric. I encourage everyone to watch it and take her message to heart.
Check out this review of Penelope. Entertainment Weekly gives it an F!
Closed. Out of Business. Made an effort to have a laugh but noone appreciated it. Thanks for nothing.
Jake in EW.com's 30 Actors Under 30
Peep-hole
Don't shutter and close up
Today is an extra day on the calendar so it just doesn't count, look at it that way.
^^Oops that should have been
30 Under 30: The Actors
Peep-Hole- I think you're quite clever! Hope you don't close up shop.
Austin should do this. Cause anything Tom Brady can do, Austy can do better!
Happy Leap Year OMG!
Well, well, well... could it be that the March voters were right?
About that shirt in the first pic: I used to wear one like that when I was in primary school, lol! Love the smile he's sporting in that pic.
Looking at today's Austin pictures.
Jakey does a body good.
Obama tells the crowd that homophobia is not Christian
^^Yay! Now I know I'm making the right decision! :)
Loved it peep-hole. Ignore attempts to undermine.
Peep-hole, don't worry your pretty lil head about it, that was probably just one a the babblin' brookes - we love hearin' about what those execs are doin'. They're probably plannin' a Reese marriage proposal for today! ;)
I'm also a fan peep-hole.
And thanks ME for that great article on the closet yesterday, which I finally got to read late last night. I've been thinking even more than usual about the closeting issue since the terrible tragedy of Larry King. I strongly believe that the more people come out, the less likely we are to see things like this happen. I also keep thinking about how much courage it took to be out, and to be gender-bending on top of that, at that age. Even if no one could have anticipated this outcome, dids at that age are the worst when it comes to shunning and verbally attacking anyone who is different.
It just appalls me that people who have supportive family, friends, and financial security can continue to closet while someone who didn't have a family and was young and powerless was out there on the frontline so to speak.
I strongly believe that every person who is out makes a big difference. And while I agree that people need to be "loud" about it, inching out is at least understandable, bearding is not.
kids, not dids. Special, you've got to stop running those Austin pictures, they really mess with my head. :0
tMF TOP 50 HOTTEST YOUNG ACTORS
The untimely death of actor Heath Ledger postponed our planned launch of this list. He was definitely part of the top 50, a big part actually. While we decided it was best not to include his name, we want to make sure our readers know he is one of tMF's all-time favorite actors and he will be sorely missed. RIP, Heath.
10 Gael Garcia Bernal
9 Jake Gyllenhaal
8 Ben Foster
7 Gaspard Ulliel
6 Michael Cera
5 Joe Levitt
4 Emile Hirsch
3 James McAvoy

I'm sorry but who cares what PR or execs are doing. Been there done that. More about Jake being happy. And more about Austin. And Maryland Crabcakes, shrip, oysters!!
^^Sorry, Shrimp^^
Interesting Towleroad article about Obama. Particularly the part about his ability to sell gay rights in the black church. If he can truly do this, then he might actually be able to do more for GLBTs than any other candidate.
Terribly sad what happened to Lawrence King, and that he had noone to go to. I hate that this kind of thing still goes on.
From what I've read, Barack Obama has the edge when it comes to gay rights and issues, which is one of the reasons I'm supporting him for President. I find him very inspiring, and it will be an historic and proud day for America if he were to become our President. The same for Hillary as our first woman President; but as I said, I think Mr. Obama has the edge on certain issues which are very important to me, such as gay rights.
Hopefully, we'll see the day when everyone not only has equal rights and is treated fairly under the law, but that someone's sexuality isn't the most noteworthy thing about them, it's just one more part of who they are, much like race and sex have become - remarks and attacks, put-downs and jokes are totally unacceptable.
Great article ME, thanks - ITA, inching out is understandable, but bearding no, it can only be harmful to a person in the long run, I feel.
Is Hayden inching? or is he bearding?
Hayden is bearding.
My wish today is that Jake Gyllenhaal sees that video of his friend Ellen and that he decides to do the right thing and come out.
No one who has the ability to help kids like those two boys and other kids should lie or live a lie. We need more people like Ellen to come out and show the world that gay people are wonderful and just like everyone else.
Its not worth the money Jake. Do the right thing.
I love Ellen and God bless those two boys.
Ellen's comment was heartbreaking but incredibly powerful; it needs to be seen and heard as much as possible. I also like that she cut to the chase and just laid it out regardless of politics. She's an amazing woman, I've always loved her.
I sense the tide is turning for Jake, too. Credible or not, that sighting is more like the Jake we're used to: seemingly at ease, demonstrative and obviously knows his friend well enough to text away. :) The bigger tide is the over-hanging Reeke which will probably keep rippling out in copy terms at least.
Is Hayden inching? or is he bearding?
Rachel Bilson.
It is better to speak quietly standing on solid ground than to shout standing on top of a shaky box.
My wish today is that Jake Gyllenhaal sees that video of his friend Ellen and that he decides to do the right thing and come out.
You know what did it for Nathan Lane- Matthew Shepard's murder. Here's the Matthew Shepard Foundation's response to Larry King's murder.
Maybe you should take your own advice, Tom. You've said in the past that you're not totally out.
sometimes events do make people act said...

Everyone in my life who is important to me now knows I am gay.
If I had the platform that Jake has I would come out to as many people as I could. I dont have the audience that Jake has. I dont go around pretending I am dating so that other people will think I am str8. I am finally proud of who I am.
One more thing "Sometime events do make people act said" why don't you sign in as who you really are and not use a fake name.
"Obama tells the crowd that homophobia is not Christian
February 29, 2008 12:58 PM"
Yeah, right. That's why he went to SC and got in bed with some creepy anti-gay minister. He wasn't opening any dialogue or trying to sell gay rights to the black baptist community. If you believe that, then there's a bridge in New York that I can sell you for $10. Obama was whoring himself in SC to secure the conservative black vote.
The only 'change' that he wants is himself in the White House. He isn't going to change the tone of political debate one iota.
This guy is an unaccomplished flake and a waste of political bandwidth.
^^Can you provide a link to that information please, because I have never heard what you are alleging. Just the opposite, in fact.
Jerseytb/Tom said...
I just want everyone who knows me at all from WFT or OMG that I am open to critism. I would hope any regular here will feel at ease to post a question or critisize me as themselves. I feel close to all the folks I have gotten to know here even if we havent met.
I wear my darn emotions on my sleeve and critisize Jake all the time. I think that offends some people. Dont be afraid to call me on it but I am not gonna treat Jake like he is a saint. He aint and either am I.
yet, Tom, you say you are out to the people who are important to you and admitted not to be out really at work, correct me if I am wrong.
Why is that? Imagine you had not 10 colleagues but a much bigger scale of people ready to poke into your life ridicule you perhaps, and on top of that you'll be demoted at work if you came out. If you say you'll do that that go ahead and put yourself on top of your pedestal and keep yelling at Jake. If you would not, then ...
What was the topic for today? O yea....Austin's striped shirt. lol
I like that shirt. It goes with the totally youthful big smile! I can see him wearing puka shells with that shirt. Or a candy necklace.
"To be honest" no more questions from you until I know who you are a regular, a bobblehead, a fangurl, or an unknown. If you want me to be honest then you do the same. tell me about yourself. Put yourself out there like I have.
Obama has indeed embraced the ex-gay McClurkin, and been an apologist for bigots, too, right on his very website.
^^He also had a gay minister with him at that rally, and McClurkin's views are not necesarily Obama's. McClurkin's views are insulting to homosexuals, but I wouldn't say Obama "embraced" McClurkin at all; he just didn't cancel him. At least he's open to diaglogue on the subject - he's known for talking about openly about his stance on gay issues without waffling. Do we know anyone else who is doing that?
I have a huge problem with Obama listening to bigots (no one would tolerate someone saying that our ears should be open to the Ku Klux Klan or the Nazi Party), but we'll see. I have more of a problem with him asking not to be photographed with Gavin Newsom during the San Francisco gay marriages.
Anyway.
None of the candidates will support gay marriage, unfortunately, so it's unfair to single out Obama. Being photographed with someone or not is a far cry from advocating gay marriage. From what I've been able to read, Obama has a slight edge over Hillary when it comes to his stance on gay issues. Having McClurkin in the concert lineup was an unfortunate mistake, I'm willing to call it that and not something more sinister. After all, the guy's only a singer, he's not going to be an Obama's cabinet member! He did try to make amends for it openly as well, I don't know to many others who would. Most people would encourage dialogue between opposing views, what else could you do? I certainly don't want to run the risk of having another four years of Republican leadership either.
"I have more of a problem with him asking not to be photographed with Gavin Newsom during the San Francisco gay marriages."
Hear, hear. This guy is a colossal waste of bandwidth.
But spf30, he was at the rally making homophobic remarks about "sinners", and that was not refuted by Obama. Can you imagine someone not refuting the bigoted remarks of an anti-Semite or racist connected with their campaign, and insisting that we listen to their voices? No thank you.
Whatever I think about her war vote, I think Clinton is more progressive on gay issues than Obama, though they are both pretty similar. To be honest, I am saving my energy and investment for the general, so I can really get behind Obama or Clinton 100% and work my ass off.
I don't believe that - it was a concert and I thought I read that he did distance himself from that kind of thinking. I didn't think McClurkin had free reign to say those kinds of things?
As for not being photographed with Newsom, that was four or five years ago, and to be fair a lot of other political people did the same and similar things, such as John Kerry during that time.
One thing that bothers me about Hillary Clinton is anti-Semetic remarks she made a few years ago.
But I do agree with you that I will work for whoever wins the Democratic nomination.
What kind of anti-Semitic remarks has Clinton ever made?
I'm sure you can find that info yourself. I remember this whole controversy because I was around when it happened.
Paul Jenkins of The Huffington Post
There was an accusation of somehting said in 1974 (34 years ago). The comment made by Paul Fray has never been proven or seen to have any credence, and indeed Fray has attempted to apologize to Hillary Clinton by letter. It's a Republican smear to try to discredit Clinton - whereas Obama really *has* employed McClurkin.
Th Huffington Post is extremely anti-Clinton and pro-Obama, so it's hardly an impartial source. At all.
Spf30, Obama did not distance himself from what McClurkin said, unfortunately. This doesn't mean he is any worse or better than Clinton, but it does, along with the Newsom episode (only 3 years ago!) give me cause for worry.
Well, on another subject, John Barrowman has acquired a puppy he's named Capt. Jack. Adorable. I am too computer illiterate to post a link but pic is on ONTD.
I don't think the friend with Jake was Austin. We already know he is for Obama, so that topic would not have come up in the same manner.
Sorry I hit enter too fast. The post about Barrowman and the puppy was me.
No, Fray says she said it, but he attributes it to being said "in the heat of the moment". I'm still dismayed by someone in her position saying something like that. I don't hold it against her, it's just dismaying. My only point is to show that no political candidate is perfect - they all have flaws and we have to choose the one we think will do the best job, not an easy task. I'm willing to cut them a little slack, they all have done things that give me cause for worry.
I don't think the friend with Jake was Austin. We already know he is for Obama, so that topic would not have come up in the same manner."
Yes, convince yourself that! (Rolling my eyes). Austin obviously supports Obama. Jake's family have supported the Clintons and socialized with them. Maybe Jake is getting an epiphany.
By the way, guess who lives in Santa Monica.
I agree, no candidate is indeed perfect:
Both Clinton, 60, and Obama oppose same-sex marriages while supporting civil unions. A major difference between the candidates is that Obama supports full repeal of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, a law signed by Bill Clinton -- under pressure from a Republican-dominated Congress -- that prohibits federal recognition of same-sex marriages and permits states to do the same. Hillary Clinton wants to roll back only part of the law.
Found that at FCC. Link:
Gay Clinton Backers Defect to Obama, Eroding Her Base
I hsvr been dismayed by Obsma's gay record since I heard about Mayor Newsom, which was 3 years ago not 34.
Here is one gay man who is not gloing to defect.
Tom, go ahead and call me a fangirl or whatever you like. It does not really matter if I am a regular a fungirl or whatever. You know exactly what I mean in my post. I don't ask you to tell me anything about yourself. But maybe would be good for you to think before blurting out your frustrations over someone who is not behaving, clearly, the way you want him to. But you aren't either.
It does not really matter if I am a regular a fungirl or whatever.
Stop playing dumb, you know exactly what Tom meant.
Very interesting posts about Obama, I just like the look of the guy. If I was American he'd be my choice. I'm pleased to say I've never voted for any duffers here though plenty of 'em have held power.
