Hola! the next Ciao?

It was announced yesterday that The Informers will be screened at The Sitges Film Fesitval, in Sitges, Spain October 2-12, 2008, which is a little earlier than the October 30th date in Germany. No official word on it US premiere. The Informers is included in the "out-of-competition Oficial Fantàstic Selection". No confirmed date on what day of the festival it will be presented.

Will Austin go Eurotripping again for The Informers and put some of his Spanish into practice? Could he pick up a little Catalan as well? You know there's always more swears to pick up and pass on.

The theme is year at Sitges is Science Fiction and Everyday Horror. It will be honoring the 40th Anniversary of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
"The Festival will offer a reflective retrospective on the role of science fiction in the history of contemporary cinema, with outstanding movies like Planet of the Apes, Forbidden Planet, Logan’s Run, Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, among others. For many moviegoers it will be an excellent opportunity to see the best copies available of these films for the first time on the big screen. Sitges 08’s EUROPA IMAGINÀRIA will also revolve around the best European science fiction cinema with movies like Barbarella, Solaris and The Man Who Fell to Earth.

In addition, through a series of screenings and debates, the Festival will be paying tribute to the 75th anniversary of King Kong, the Festival’s image. We will be able to enjoy the remastered copy of King Kong from 1933 and also the documentary produced by Peter Jackson shooting of the original movie RKO Production 601: The Making of ‘Kong, the Eighth Wonder of the World’. "

Now that all vampire storyline has been cut from Informers not sure how it will fit the theme of the festival but 80's fashion and hair might be argued as everyday horror. One thing definitely buzzing about Informers is how good the soundtrack is, and looking back to Less than Zero, you have an idea where Ellis wanted to take it.

If Austin does do Europe this fall, wonder where's next on the itinerary? Let's see Spain is close to?

A little info on Sitges, Spain, 35 K down the coast from Barcelona. Sitges is a beautiful coastal village that is known for it beautiful beaches, scenery, good weather and
great nightlife, and is describe the by The Advocate as "Provincetown Plus".

Wow, how great for Austin!. A wonderful picture of him too. How much more can I take? This Cult song is one of my very favorites evaaaaaah, right from the first note! Thanks a million, I needed it. :)

Just announce Emmy noms. Sadly no JFC, but Neil Patrick Harris is up for best supporting actor in a comedy series. Second year in a row!

Love this song too Special. I suspect Wicked was inspired by Spooky's list of songs. :-)

That's great news about The Informers, although I'm puzzled too about how it fits in with the festival, unless the vampire story is back in? And maybe it will indeed be Spain instead of Italy.

This one I picked Destiny. But I did ask Wicked which 80's band for today from a couple I listed and it popped back THE CULT!

I think it was a part of the festival because of the Vampire story, but how would it look if the Festival asked them not to come now? So I suspect everyone will just get a little creative when talking about how it fits in with the theme.

TR, I enjoyed your comments in the last thread. It would seem this article was written in advance and then the pix were taken. The article sure came very quickly after the photo op. One thing I found funny was that there was one sentence in there about "Jake has a different role than Ryan, because Ryan is the kids' father and Reese respects that" or some shit. But then the rest of the article goes on and on about how "fatherly" he is and how people thought Jake and Reese were the parents and how much of a family they are. Guess they realized they had to at least pay lip service to Ryan being these children's father or they would look really bad.

I heart The Cult and have this record on vinyl. Gotta convert this sucker to mp3.

I am really looking forward to Informers. I like the entire cast and the story sounds interesting. I DVR'd both Full Count and House of Usher from The Movie Channel. Thanks Spesh for that heads up. Hopefully Tom and I will be able to watch at least one of them this weekend. Mini Austinfest! Hmm, maybe I should make him watch Holiday in the Sun...

What do you mean?! We NEVER do that! The paps just keep intruding on our privacy! I am outraged! You do have the number, right?

Another Reeke house rules story but its in WP and WP adds rules of thier own for Reese. Comments are funny too.

Washington Post House Rules

During last year's UT-Ohio State game, my friend (who is a dead ringer for Lance Armstrong) and I were stuck in traffic near the UT stadium when we see two guys on bikes next to us waiting on the traffic light. All of a sudden we realized it was actually Lance himself. So my friend and I jumped out of the car and asked if we could take a picture with him. Lance said sure and his buddy agreed to take the picture. It wasn't until his buddy took off his helmet and sunglasses that we saw it was Jake Gyllenhaal taking our picture with Lance.

One of Jake's rules for Reese-

Rule 34: If you receive a phone call that begins, "The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep," hand the phone to me immediately, then leave the room.

Sad how far and wide this story has gone, making both of them look bad.

yeah ita but it acomplishes the bottomline goal: Jake and Reese are having a sexual romantic relationship and living together. funny how noone questions that part, they assume its true and skip right over to the rules story.

Sitges is really well known for its gay scene and as a gay friendly resort destination.

This is one of the best posts that
you have ever done. Wicked and Special K, you two are absolutely
amazing!!
Austin looks handsome as always. I know that there are sex
scenes in the Informers but does
anyone know if there any lovemaking scenes between Jake and
Natalie Portman in Brothers?
All I can say about Jake is he
will live his own life! If he has
set up house with Reese, then it is his choice. I guess the next thing we will hear is that they
have secretly married in France.
What is the old saying-you can fool some of the people some of
the time, but not ALL people ALL
the time!
I know Ted has said TT and BF
are still together but I at times
have my doubts. If they have ended
their relationship, my hope would
be that they have a great friendship.
I guess the next thing we will
hear is that Adrienne gave Austin
the band ring around his neck and
they are engaged! This gets really
ridiculous at times!
Regardless of what happens, I
think you Wicked and Special K and
all should get a special award for
the outstanding job you do at OMG!! KEEP IT UP!! Sorry for such
a long post. Hello, Prairie Girl,
and all.

There were no sex scenes in the original movie.

No really, every day is not just a new post, but an interesting, informative of just plain hilarious post, like yesterday's. I don't know how you do it, and the music is always something new and fresh, or classic, or outstanding in some way.

I haven't heard today's song in a long time, and I remembered how much I love it - you can just hear the metal clanging. Thanks!

One thing I didn't think about until I read TR's comments in the previous thread is that we got all that Reeking and then a magazine cover when Stop Loss Came out, and now we get all this Reeking and a magazine cover when TDK comes out.

destiny.. I'd thought that as well but had decided to think the better of both Jake and Reese.

I've just looked at the full set of 'Paris welcomes the must loved up couple in the world' photos on ihj and they just seem to confirm the photo op nature of this whole trips (although I do love Jake checking out the Austin love alike).

My theory (please feel free to discount) is that all this Paris / Notting Hill stuff is because these places have some sort of recognition factor with, shall we say, rather less travelled Americans (although there's nothing wrong in that, its a big country and I'd have difficulty naming any cities in Missouri).

However, if you were a very wealthy privacy minded and famous single mother who wanted to gently introduce your new partner to your children, surely the last place you would do it is in Paris, close to Bastille day. Even if Reese had to be in Paris for the vogue thingy, there are so many beautiful, discrete and luxurious places other than the centre of Paris to do it. They could also have chosen somewhere that the kids could have had some open air and freedom (Jardin du Luxembourg does not count). My thoughts are that Paris (and Notting Hill) were chosen because everyknows where they are and we all know that Paris is the most romantic city in the world (especially when you're being tailed constantly by paps). I suppose a luxury hotel / private chateaux on the Loire does have quite the same instant recognition (hope this isn't giving US weekly their next photo op idea).

Apologises for rambling.

Austin looks very good (a bit sweaty and tired) in those new photos. If he goes, he'll have a great time in Barcelona / Stiges, the whole area is fab.

Anonymous said...

Meg, I thought the same. No offense, but surely there are more private places to go than Paris on Bastille Day.

Unforutnately love my country I suspect its more than just our leaders who think this way or they wouldn't have been able to get away with all this for so long. But our leaders should be setting an example, not getting down in the gutter with people who think that way. Hopefully that will change in the fall because if we get a Supreme Court full of judges who also think that way we're going to be in for it for decades to come, not just another 4 or 8 years.

Meg, I had similar thoughts but they were less polite :) I thought Paris and Rome probably play well in Peoria, and Notting Hill would have done too (if it hadn't disobliged by pissing down the whole time).

Cool news about the Barcelona/ Sitges festival and Informers :)

This is a really interesting Spotlight, Special. Spain has a wonderful ring to it; makes me think of dark hair and tanned skins. Don't know if that's a reality or not, but that's what comes to my mind. Logan's Run and 2001 Space Odyssey, wow, 2 movies from out of the past. I hope Austin goes to this festival; would love to see pictures.

You know, all these pictures of Chez Reeke and then the ones of Austin & his date at the ESPY's got me to thinking how deprived we are of some great pictures of Austin & Jake. Course, the last ones we had were what? Lakers game? Borders store? Not sure, your all's memory is better than mine. But can you imagine how those 2 would look together now if caught at say, an upcoming political convention? Or a pro football game in say, Canada? Or in line for popcorn @ the theatre? A light moment balancing the now-so-expensive popcorn & Milk Duds? Man, what I wouldn't give.....

Anonymous said...

How about in the produce section @ a Whole Foods, squeezing the avocados? ; )

Anonymous said...

Funny how the Reekeathon suddenly stopped. Wonder why?

Got the cover story, works done.

Anonymous said...

Exactly, ha!ha!. We get saturated when they're in full throttle. You know, I'm still wondering where everyone was that first week or two when we had nothing but internet blog reports about them being in London together, kids were there, With 6 You Get Eggroll, blah, blah, blah, yet we didn't get any pictures. Then the horse pictures came, and then came the Reeke pap tidal wave. Crash, Crash, the waves kept hitting shore. It's such a controlled, oiled machine, really.

May have to complain to my Avon lady that I want the Reese-Free edition of the bi-monthly Avon book. Don't think I can take the repeated invasion of my Avon stuff with her glossed all over it. Come to think of it, may have to email Avon. Not happy about it at all.

Anonymous said...

yeah good idea: schedule paps, do reekethon, saturate web then disappear. ok not disppear but lets face it without scheduled paps who would notice reeke. the scheduled non-schedule gives both time to move around to where they really want to go separately. oh and austin is somewhere in europe, no? methinks the next time they surface it will be reese in 1 place [shopping or taking a very important meeting in la] and jake in another [working the prince in eurpoe/morocco] and it will be later next week....giving the impression that the happy little family had to run away from the evil paps to get some private time together. uh huh.

^^ oops 8:37 was me.

'europe' not eurpoe. LOL

before i say this: i want the best for jake [and austin too] in his career and i want him to succeed in his movies. aslo 80% friends and 20% of my family is gay so no predjudice here.

what i want to say is [and i hope i'm wrong] is that with the glut of comic hero/vid game movies i really feel the genre its reached its peak. even if PoP is released next year i'm afraid its not gonna pop, more like splat. imo jake doing it now at this late point in the market is a bad decision.

another is the name choice. you all know what it and jake is gonna be called unofficially - 'princess of persia'. i cringe just thinking about it. it cant be helped. with the long hair and jakes alleged toothy history this nicname is gonna be another bump if he really wants people to believe hes straight. if he absoulutely had to do a comic-gamer movie couldnt he have chosen hulk, iron man something else than prince-princess in the name?

imo he would be better off staying with charcters that have depth not going the commerical comic character route.

i never austins movies until recently. i love glory road, wimbledon, and jfc. jake started acting before austin but i like austins character choices better. imo professionally austin is more interesting.

Almost forgot that TDK opens tonight. I am so excited; don't know yet when I'll go to see it. Talk about picking movie roles. Heath picked interesting characters; I'm just now watching alot of his films, ie The Patriot and The Order. And to consistently read how Heath was not one for the spotlight and all the glitz that went with being a movie star, it really just intrigues me about him. He was a true, serious actor. I know this isn't a Heath website, but on this, the night of the premiere, I also think of BBM. Those 2 guys were unbelievable together. And I also think of the many Jake interviews I read surrounding BBM's release and how affected he was by this story. And I see him now and it just breaks my heart.

Dyslexic (sp?), I just saw Glory Road this year. What a good movie. I need to see Lenexa 1 Mile now. Then got into JFC and for cryin out loud, it gets cancelled after just 1 season. Left hanging in the dust on that one.

pg after i saw it on cable i had to go out and buy it. its a keeper. something ill wacth over and over. next on my list is lenexa.

if i get to heaven [lol] i hope they have theaters there that continue the stories to all shows canceled before thier time. :)

Right, you mean JFC? I bought it sight unseen cause I saw it @ Borders and it was 1/2 off. I'm so glad I did because once I got started, I really got into it. Language is really raw, but it was really intriguing and it had some great humor in it. I still think of that scene with the 2 Teddy Bears. Also loved the scene where John C wakes up on the floor, gosh, I forget the name of the guy he first stays with. Austin looked gorgeous.
Or did you mean Glory Road? Lol, after all that babble, you probably meant Glory Road!

I picked up my preordered Dark Knight tickets today. My viewing is 11:40 am Friday. The theatre board was flashing info; they are showing Knight on 6 screens at 12:01. All are sold out. Not sure about the 3:00 am or 6:00am shows, I did not stay long enough to see all the details. Did see on ontd that tickets are being sold on ebay at inflated prices.

After seeing the OK or Star article on IHJ, can't recall which rag it was, it's so obvious it was a total staged set up, I can't even get excited or upset about it. It's pathetic really. Besides, it's clear to me the relationship is over. Just a matter of time. You can see that it has reached the point that they can barely stand each other.

Anonymous said...

The articles just get worse. Looking at this whole thing from all angles, I don't know how anyone can believe Reeke is real.

It has such a business feel to it. I mean apart from Cabo, every 'trip' they've gone on has involved some sort of business to it.

Reese buying a farm, doing a photoshoot, attending business meetings, doing Avon gigs.

They don't seem to just vacation to spend time together.

And they are waiting for Jake's schedule to clear before marrying? The only time his schedule is going to clear in time for a wedding is if Ryan/Abbie get married and Jake is unfortunate enough to be locked in a contract.

Anonymous said...

Actually speaking of Heath, the last couple of weeks should have told every other actor in HW that if you play a part well enough, you don't need to actually promote it for it to be a success.

Anonymous said...

A thought before going off to work:

Remember that picture that started all the rumors of Jake & Reese? The one that was on the set of Rendition or something. Reese had on a prosthetic belly and Jake was standing there in a black T Shirt (looking great, of course) and they were sharing a big laugh at something. It's the picture that all the websites & rags used to start hinting at Reeke. Look at how relaxed & earnest that laugh was. A laugh shared between friends or casual acquaintances.

And now? Do you see any kind of ease or humor between them even looks remotely like that picture? I don't think a 200 yr old clock could be wound any tighter. Simply astounding how that US Weekly cover shot ever got done.

Okay, Reese, this is just for a minute. For gosh sakes, could you 2 at least stand closer together? Jake? Can you smile for just this minute? C'mon, you can do it. How bout using the cellphone, there; concentrate on the screen, that'll make it easier. CLICK. Okay, that looks pretty good. This'll work. At ease! As you were.
